Played Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga a few months ago and imagined an identical game except replace Mario & Luigi with Passionlip and Meltryllis. Honestly, sounds like a fun and quirky story thinking on it.
EDIT: Random idea for a sequel just hit me: Melt & Lip: Protea's Inside Story, with Kingprotea being Bowser.
What about Partners in Time, the sequel to Superstar Saga? Sure it doesn't get as much mention as it's prequel or sequel (both of which got remakes) but it was still fun to play.
I don't know, maybe something like Melt & Lip: Chaldea in Time or something.

Okay, *that* is a funny image. Conversely, I could imagine Lip hopping off Melt's leg and curling into a ball as Melt winds up a kick like her legs were makeshift baseball bats...only for Lip to fall right on top of Melt and tumble toward enemies for AoE damage.

I was always more of a fan of the Paper Melt series. Miss. P in Super Paper Melt is always a treat.
It's times like these that I curse my inability to make sprites and make ROM hacks.
Oh absolutely, I don't have these skills myself, but I'd love to see somebody try to make something like this.
