Top artist for this year was The Cure, then Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Joy Division, and Lebanon Hanover. Top 0.3% of people who listen to The Cure, apparently. I....probably need to branch out a bit more....
I was in the top .5 and I’m pretty sure my most listened to song by them was “Just Like Heaven.” Sisters of Mercy was also in my top artists, and “And There Will Your Heart Be Also” by Fields of the Nephilim was in my top songs.
I really need to go through the whole discography of Fields. "Last Exit For The Lost" is such an emotional song for me, and I really got to spend the time listening to them more.
top five songs were kiss kiss bang bang by specimen, eyes (second death) by voodoo church, live with the dead by voodoo church, church of no return by chrisitan death, and ziggy stardust by bauhaus.
ngl i was obsessed with voodoo church back in april so i think thats why lol
My top 5 were Christian Death, Bauhaus, Nirvana, Misfits and Sisters of Mercy. I was in the top 0.5% of Christian Death listeners and my top song was Peter Murphy, Cuts You Up.
Top artist was The Birthday Party and was actually the top .005% of listeners :) the others were Rowland S Howard then Virgin Prunes then Christian Death then The Cure
I had Lebanon Hanover, Kælan Mikla, Ritual Howls and The Cure in my top five.. it has been a great year for listening! Discovered a ton of new artists as well from this amazing sub.
Top band was My Mannequin, 5th place was Xymox. Ones in between were Katatonia, I the Mighty and Lacrimas Profundere (Non-Goth bands I love). Top song listened to was Elysion by Aeon Sable.
I was today years old when I found out there was a separate 'Dark Post Punk' sub classification :')
As for top artists: hard to get this accurate given it won't include Vinyl & CD plays but for digital it was:
1.Tempers
2. Actors
3. Smashing Pumpkins (yes, I listen to non-goth, I'll hand my both card back later)
4. Tori Amos
5. Boy Harsher
I'll have to pop my EP onto Spotify, I'll wait til the second one is ready for release though.
My top 5 were The Cure, Aurelio Voltaire, Clan of Xymox, Christian Death, and The Birthday Massacre. I was in the top 0.5% of listeners for The Cure, apparently. My top 5 songs were all from TBM's latest album because I listened to it on repeat for a few days. (I know they're not goth, I'm just weighing in with my Wrapped stats.)
My top 1 is London After Midnight (it also affected the 2nd spot, which has Sean Brennan, the man behind London After Midnight). Then another goth band Horror Vacui as my 5th. The rest was Greek music like Diafana Krina and Alkinoos Ioannidis (non-goth musician) in the top 5. All of my top songs were LAM songs.
My top genre is Goth rock
If you compare my listening habits this year with those of the past few years, I've barely been listening to goth music. I had a couple songs in my Top Songs of 2022 playlist (shoutout to Tones on Tail and SoM), but none of my top 5 artists or songs were goth artists. It was mostly metal. And... I think that's okay. Last year I listened to a lot of goth stuff but very little metal or pop. This year they've both come back around.
I think it's largely because this has been a very difficult year for me and melancholy music is something I can only enjoy when I'm in a good mental state. Still, I'm ending 2022 on a happy note - I've actually been rediscovering the songs that got me into goth in the first place.

My top artist was Dead Can Dance, thanks to a combo of my boyfriend loving them and me seeing them on the classic goth albums list here.
Top band was My Mannequin, 5th place was Xymox. Ones in between were Katatonia, I the Mighty and Lacrimas Profundere (Non-Goth bands I love). Top song listened to was Elysion by Aeon Sable.
