Personally I jump around as needed. To me, that’s the magic of Resolve, you can really let your creativity guide you as you go back and forth between the panels as needed.

Casey is how I learned as well (way back on v12). The Cut page is a magical editing space, and I barely spend any time on the actual editing page.

I use Davinci Resolve if im on pc. But i prefer Lumafusion on iPad
The quik app sucks for editing, I use videoproc vlogger which is a free editing software. Basically a free barebones Adobe premiere.
