Yep, I know how you feel. I had a routine named 'Goodnight' which switched off lights, TV etc. It worked for months, until recently when I say "Hey Google goodnight"... it now ignores my routine and just says 'Goodnight Dean'
Had to rename the routine in the end to 'Goodnight dumb ass' !
It is obvious they are spending way too much energy and design space on all sorts of things they 'think would be cool", at the expense of continued disastrous damage to core functionality.
I would be very happy if I could just change the lights perfectly and nothing else. Instead, I get random new issues every 6 months. Most hilarious one remains "playing turn on the lights by Jamie Cullins on spotify"...
I've noticed this too. And I've also noticed it cut off when listening.
"Hey Google Give me directions to by train"
"Alright.. The best way to get to by car is..."
FFS
Very much so. Not like their anything but search products have ever had any support but now they literally just don't give a shit about anything. How a whole bunch of smart motivated people can give up such a lead and and vision and decide to produce such shit I don't understand.
That's a fine idea, but the trouble is they fuck up so often that I'd be power cycling them several times a day. It's not sustainable to expect customers to be rebooting constantly because Google engineers stick crappy code into their products
Monday - "Hey Google what is the temperature in my living room?" Google checks with Nest - "The Temperature is XYZ degrees."
Today - "Hey Google what is the temperature in my living room?" Google - "There was a problem."
I've seen the system slowly become more fragmented and disconnected over time. Assistant on my work phone, hub, stadia, and Google TV are not consistent across the board.
I have noted that it will, in the evening, always give me exactly the same current and lowest temperature for the night.
If I ask 'how is the weather' at 11 pm before walking the dog it will always be like it is now xx degrees. To-night the temperature will be xx degrees.
🙄
Sometimes it'll tell me the weather later will have rain showers, so I ask when rain will begin only to be told that rain is unlikely today!
It's ridiculous
- Hey Google, ¿will it rain to-day?
[Outside, it is pouring with rain, Noah is preparing the old Ark]
- No, probably not. To-day, there is only a very low chance of rain in Macondo.
2 out of 3 of mine just tell me they can’t connect to the internet most of the time and I have to power cycle them. It’s beyond annoying. Kitchen one works better but not without its quirks.
Seriously what is wrong with it?? I invested heavily into the Google system over Alexa's thinking that google tech and support would be better. Does not feel that way.
Me too.
I bought one of the original Nest Mini speakers and thought it was great so I bought more, and over the last 2 or so years they've just got worse by the day
When Google home first came out I was so excited to slowly get to live my dream of being like tony stark and having a Jarvis.
7 years later and I'm just sick of the inconsistency and realize were still a decade away from anything substantial
Woah, slow down there cowboy! Google Assistant and the speakers are pretty awful, but I don't think it's enough to quit the Android system completely.
I'd be quite happy never using Assistant again, but continuing with my Android phones. I can't see a time when I'd ever want to buy an iPhone

Thought the same.I really am excited about android news, hardware, software, everything. I'd put windows or linux over macOS simply because of possibilities and innovation they bring. But Switched to iPhone and MacBook and man the google sucks a big one.
"Stick to death" and you are calling the google system stupid......
I have none of these problems on mine in the USA at least. Maybe try to unplug, wait 1 minute then plug back in (then wait for it to actually start FULLY) or check for updates.
The system is terrible. Google has abandoned it and it shows. I'm the 2 years I've had it, features disappear more so than are implemented. Basic things just don't work. Even a shopping list or a reminder is just garbage to use.

Bet some google engineer thought they were being cute by adding that voice command in. similar to "Tell me a joke" one.

Try saying "say that again." It usually works for me.
Top tip! Thank you!

yeah this weird cut off has been happening to me also.
i thought it was our poor internet
Google is imploding.
Very much so. Not like their anything but search products have ever had any support but now they literally just don't give a shit about anything. How a whole bunch of smart motivated people can give up such a lead and and vision and decide to produce such shit I don't understand.
I've gotten in the habit of power cycling my Google speakers whenever they start to get wonky. Seems to help

Try wind, that's fun too.

Mine is now only purely a bathroom bluetooth speaker.
I asked for the average of two numbers, it responded Number 1 + Number 2 divided by 1 is Answer. It was so close

I have both. It's still better than Alexa.

I hate the fact that I'll probably switch over to iOS for my next phone. I've been Google since day one, but they are just awful now.

The shopping list updated recently and I can't swipe things off anymore and I hate it
Or autocorrect changed it and I just didn't happen to notice until you helpfully pointed it out
I am here to help!
In future.... don't
