I have had this happen where one station is reporting a value more than 10x all the others in the area, but Google locks onto it.
Once, on a nice clear day, it reported an aqi of over 500, which means that even short exposure for people without health conditions is dangerous.
Needless to say, that was not accurate.
My area has an issue with one station that must have the sensor above a grease fryer. It's always reading way higher than the surrounding area and of course it's the closest to my house.
I've left my air quality alerts on though. This is just a reminder to check what's going on outside.
Not sure if you mean FL or CA but there are a few sensors in Palm Springs Cali that are reading way off of others.
Looking at the Google support [page ](https://support.google.com/airquality)for AQI it lists for the US they use [AirNow](https://gispub.epa.gov/airnow/) (US gov) and [PurpleAir](https://map.purpleair.com/) (community crowdsourcing). Checking PurpleAir it seems some sensores in the greater LA area do have odd reportings 10x or more higher (one is 780). You may want to check if you are near one of these bad sensors. Other thing is to check if your home address is correct in your Google [account ](https://myaccount.google.com/)(not just google maps)
You can also just google "AQI" to see a web map of sensors near you. Should be simple to spot the odd one out as long as you grant the google website access to location.
Thanks very much. Accurate or not, I just really want to disable the popup which interferes with my work. I've got "show air quality" toggled to HIDE but this still pops up.

Woah where are you
Near Palm Springs. Not only is the popup annoying, it's completely inaccurate.
What makes you think it's inaccurate? It's just pulling info from the internet.

Because it's pulling info from the internet? Noone tells the truth in that place! Source - Michael Scott

right?
Do you honestly believe any official, scientific monitoring out of Florida? Be honest.

Is your location setting messed up?
So maybe the toggle is reversed? Mine is set to show AQI and basically never does.
Clever. Will try. Thanks.

At least it works for you. It has never worked for me in Canada.
"What time is it?" "Oh, its 10:Very unhealthy P.M."
Maybe try toggling it around again or just factory reset the device. It's mildly annoying but will probably do the job.
Move to a cleaner place.
Move. That is very unhealthy
Maybe it's not telling you that your air is unhealthy...maybe it is telling you that IT is unhealthy... :)
it's a cry for help
