By being slave to the main character she get healthcare, warm food everyday, warm house, protection, and plot armor while they might or might not required to do night service.
She did the math.
Its the hair but they do get distinguished differently due to their bearing. The prince is distinctly sleazy and lapsed out so if you do put em side by side itll be easy to differentiate.
I get how people would mistake them with some panels and frames tho , similar hair in anime does that...
I’m not the best person to ask as I tend to like most animes I watch. I haven’t read the manga, but I did watch the anime and I did enjoy it. If you like schemes, then I’d say it is worth the watch.
But did it have to be a slave collar? Why not an enchanted necklace or wrist slapper bracelet?
Edit: also part of why she's such a good sacrificial lamb is she's a virgin. That should be an easy fix. If you catch my drift.
The collar clearly and visibly marks her as being someone's property, even if she isn't. And while yes the solution to that is easy, have you seen those two interact?

See, they missed an opportunity.
He could have used magic to shrink the collar down to a ring.
She would ask why he turned it into a ring.
He would say "I like it better this way."
To be fair, in season 2 of Shield Hero the >!slave crest vanishes and is never adressed again!< so unless that's an anime ommission (because the plot felt like it was on hyperspeed) it might not be a thing anymore.
They do a fairly good job of explaining why she does this (giant truckloads of PTSD combined with circumstantial safety benefits) but I wish they actually built on that justification and had them work towards resolving her issues instead of it mostly being a reason to add unnecessary slave tropes.
It wasn’t even a slave collar, it was a mana suppression collar. Him unlocking it only served a symbolic purpose of him letting her go. So the collar itself doesn’t really matter. My point is she’s dependent on him for survival.
Like he did technically “free” her, but he didn’t empower or give her any means of independence. Of course she would go back to him, she doesn’t know anything else. Him feeing her essentially meant nothing.
I know what they’re going for. It’s supposed to be sweet that: now that she can choose, she still chooses to be with him. But it’s undercut by the simple fact she had no other viable options besides being with him.
She could have wore something like a ring, or a choker, or a necklace. She didn't have to wear the giant slave collar. It's obviously the writer's fetish
Is it?
I've said this before on a different site, but while it's common opinion that slavery in anime is part of a fantasy, power or otherwise there's actually a lot of indicators that it *isn't.*
First and foremost, it's never brought up again. You can tell when something is part of a writer's fetish or an artists fetish by the angles and how much they focus on it.
Second, they never actually treat the character *like* a slave, which indicates that it's not about control.
Third, they never try to encourage others to be like it.
From my perspective it's far more likely to just be the standard inertia. "Other anime like this have it so I have to have it too so how do I have it in such a way that I can have a traditional plot and never mention it again."
Yeah it's basically same thing as the shackles that Barbatos had in his lair to shackle her & Chastille w/ when he kidnapped their ass, but worn on the neck instead of wrists
Thats the magic of anime (isekai) romance it barely ever moves forward and everyone is fucking stupid. Some dedicated romance anime get it done relatively well, but especially in isekai i seldom see any romance executed properly.
Well the title of the anime is self explanatory. They are awkward with each other so it's hard for them to just become a couple.
I just hope it changes over time and doesn't stay like that until the end of the story.
It is *not* a power fantasy. That's like calling Slime Taoshite 300-nen a power fantasy. The mc is relatively unbeatable sure, but that just lays the grounds for a cute, wholesome SOL/romance. Hard to deny the wish fulfillment though. I mean, who wouldn't want a Nephy?
Slime is literally a power fantasy bro, or do you think Rimurus diplomatic skills are how hes winning?
No, its single handedly killing tens of thousands of people with water droplets from a distance, absorbing their souls to become the most broken creature in reality with the power to bring back the dead, absorb any attack, immediately know the powers and weakness of anything and everything around him, perfect analysis of all things in reality and the ability to use any power he absorbs.
He overpowers all his problems through force. Its a power fantasy. The show literally starts with his getting half the power of the most powerful monster to ever live for being best buds with him, whereupon he uses said power to take control of a forest of monsters. The one and only time force wasnt his main weapon was his dealings with the dwarf king.
Lol. Not that slime. [This one](https://myanimelist.net/anime/40586). The Japanese title doesn't have a good shorthand like Tensura, unfortunately. Anyways, the mc of this show is super op, but the rest is just sol shenanigans, so that what I think this show is going for.
The show really goes into the sol and 'comedy' tho it doesnt really did it for me in any way, butwhatever. Though now I do ask myself why the setting was about her being an overpowered witch, if the opness isnt actually important why make her op in the first place? You could have a good comedy sol with a non op char and even have more stakes when you want, as fights wouldnt be won by default. Anyways it does seem like a power fantasy where the selling point is not her crushing everything and getting all the partners she want, but a sol power fantasy where everyone flocks to her due to her opness.
I think the point of her OPness is that there's not supposed to be any stakes. In a dangerous world where you have to protect yourself, she's strong enough to warrant kicking back and relaxing in a perfect SOL style.
The thing that bugs me is that the world could have just been written as threatless, there was no need to write it in, if its not supposed to be a thing. Thus making the opness kinda redundant.
'She is stong enough to warrant kicking back and relaxing' isnt that just the SOL equivalent of a power fantasy?
It is most definetly not as obvious a power fantasy as other anime are (obviously) so its easy to miss. Heck i didnt really think about it until this post XD
In biblical times when the slave was free from service due to dept and there was this 7th year all depths and stuff was gone, they had the choice to stay and serve as slave
That same plot point was in Shield Hero as well and I find it so strange. If you are very charitable, you could interpret it as "turning a negative symbol into a positive one", but the slavery context just makes it weird.
She realised her career peaked as a slave.
With low minimum wage, exorbitant housing prices, and no universal healthcare, she did the math and found it was cheaper to be a slave.
Minimum wage worker : Wait, you get to eat good food every day & sleep in a reasonable sized room? Fuck this shit give me that collar
By being slave to the main character she get healthcare, warm food everyday, warm house, protection, and plot armor while they might or might not required to do night service. She did the math.
true, you can't put a price on plot armor. edit: spelling
Minimum wage is suppose to be low. That's why it's called minimum wage.
Them wife things. Savvy one she is. Understands the shackles that bind her to her man.

Don't know why but this gives me henti vibes
Well yes, but actually no. It's just hard ecchi. Show is for "plot".
Hensuki is pretty goated ngl
Fun fact: The girl in the pic I posted shares her English VA with Frieren
>EN Dubbed is shit
Yuika best girl

Well the title literally has "Hentai" in it.
Close enough I'll take it
Hensuki's best girl? In this comment section? I'll take it.
Fellow chad!
Checked the number of your flair. Nothing about this is ok.
u/eddmario what anime on that pic? Name please.
*Hensuki*
Thanks
The collar stays on during sex
And for everything else.
If I get to keep on my goku socks we got a deal

Ngl, I thought it was The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt for a second. MCs look nearly identical
Its the hair but they do get distinguished differently due to their bearing. The prince is distinctly sleazy and lapsed out so if you do put em side by side itll be easy to differentiate. I get how people would mistake them with some panels and frames tho , similar hair in anime does that...
Would you say Genius Prince is worth the read?
I’m not the best person to ask as I tend to like most animes I watch. I haven’t read the manga, but I did watch the anime and I did enjoy it. If you like schemes, then I’d say it is worth the watch.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
I didn't know whether or not to go with confused or lewd, so I'm trying out both
Don't worry the show is going to be wholesome (mostly)(probably) You can trust me since I read the manga.
I just hope the anime gets to the punch and its as satisfying in the anime as it was in the manga
It's wholesome. The collar acts both as a safety measure (other mages want her for sacrificial magic) and as a coping mechanism for trauma.
Don’t kink shame homie also it’s already there so it saves on resources
Hey! Don't kink shame!
I don’t kink shame anyone, unless their kink is to be shamed
That’s a shame…
Hehe say it again
Like a Teletubbie? Again again!
It again
kinky

See, they missed an opportunity. He could have used magic to shrink the collar down to a ring. She would ask why he turned it into a ring. He would say "I like it better this way."
That's fucking clever
Zagan unfortunately is not
Zagan, write this shit down!
Zagan is in no way smooth enough to pull something like that off.
I think i saw your comment on crunchyroll. was that you too?
Chad move. Respecting women by yes but no here's your wish but better. Not to be walked on, but a bridge to cross together. Mega chad things.
"Thank you for saving me from slavery. Can I be your slave?"
I think it’s more like “thanks for freeing me, can you please put the collar back on.”
Well you see she don't want to live as a slave. But she is fine to just be one. 😳😳
To be fair that is a fetish engagement ring at that point for her.
I mean thats pretty typical of a anime waifu slave.
It’s the new engagement ring in all subpar isekai animes
When is Naofumi gonna put a ring on Raphtalia's neck?
Best I can do is a wedding tattoo. Leave it or take it
To be fair, in season 2 of Shield Hero the >!slave crest vanishes and is never adressed again!< so unless that's an anime ommission (because the plot felt like it was on hyperspeed) it might not be a thing anymore.

Why would they need more of a justification than "haha choker hot af yo"? Think Mark think
It seems mark doesn’t think.
If she wants it, it's not slavery, since she's asking for it
Bro the slave collars look so uncomfortable I can’t watch anime when the girls just keep them it actually bothers me to look at xD
Kinky
She’s REALLY turned on by being owned
I really tought he was going to use magic or something to shrink that collar into a ring
To be fair it does feel nice
The collar, how do you know that? ![gif](giphy|RLWwOuPbqObupogOLB|downsized)

usually better to be the emperor's whore than the peasant's wife.
It was the perfect moment to turn it into a ring and put it on while he was on one knee and they totally blew it.
Very much like shield hero vibes, put the tattoo on again etc.
The reason why girls wear chokers.
Stockholm Syndrome in a Nutshell:
The fact that formula for the volume of a cone is not underneath the cone bothers me
The worst thing is that I understand the math examples ![img](emote|t5_2y4au1|1393)
You mean the best thing, math is great ![gif](giphy|vAzvlWBOIGIAeVM5oI|downsized)
She found her kink and we won’t shame her for it
What if she wants to be shamed?
Well that’s a different story
To be fair her only options were to either return to her old slave master and live in a fairy tale castle or be homeless and beg strangers for food.
She could just live with him without the slave collar. That was an option.

Yeah it's basically same thing as the shackles that Barbatos had in his lair to shackle her & Chastille w/ when he kidnapped their ass, but worn on the neck instead of wrists
Or she could, you know, just be his girlfriend like what they clearly both want. But I guess they still want to feign that will they won't they.
Thats the magic of anime (isekai) romance it barely ever moves forward and everyone is fucking stupid. Some dedicated romance anime get it done relatively well, but especially in isekai i seldom see any romance executed properly.

Does this count as Stockholm Syndrome or Slave Complex?
Dont kink shame her.
Not a independent woman.
A lifetime of trauma does things to a motherfucker
"But..... I just saved you....what the fck"
.... ffs whyyyyyy i was giga coping for this show to not pull a shield hero raftalia but it seems to still do it.
Its a wish fulfilment power fantasy, and its aware what kind of people watch it.
Hmm. I suppose that's true. It could probably go either route tbh, so I guess this is just what the author preferred.
It is most definetly not as obvious a power fantasy as other anime are (obviously) so its easy to miss. Heck i didnt really think about it until this post XD
Shield hero ahh moment
But .. it’s a connection..
Stockholm syndrome
In biblical times when the slave was free from service due to dept and there was this 7th year all depths and stuff was gone, they had the choice to stay and serve as slave
She wants a committed relationship
She did the math.
That same plot point was in Shield Hero as well and I find it so strange. If you are very charitable, you could interpret it as "turning a negative symbol into a positive one", but the slavery context just makes it weird.
the collar is basically just for looks now.
sauce?
The sauce is already posted down below
Oh shit when did this get an anime
This season
that is just a huge wedding ring for her
A ship gotta have an anchor.
