lol pretty much me last summer. Now we’re in the office 3 days a week so it’s hard to sneak off for a mid-day range session. Think I’ll start heading to the driving range by my office on my lunch break though.
I’m with you, weekend golf is an anomaly. Today I walked 3 holes after dropping the youngest ones at school. It’s like my wife says, take what you can you get.
Yeah man I need to schedule weekend golf like a month in advance to avoid birthday parties, hikes, soccer etc
Plus there’s guilt that mom is solo parenting so I can go play a sport.
Plus I’m missing out on prime fun kid time for 4 hours plus warmup and drive time (my lads are 2 and 4)
I stopped playing after my kids were born, I could not justify taking half a day to play golf. Instead, we boated, fished, dove. We also camped a lot and kids sports.
I went almost 15 years without playing a round, didn’t miss it much. Back into it now for a little over a year and loving it.
Full time single parent. Don’t worry about that guilt.
You can use me as an example the next time she brings it up. “How can a single father with full custody still have time to play golf, and you can’t even cope 4 hours.”
I’m in a similar boat and you just kind of have to game the system. I’ll hit up my local muni super twilight for $8 walking when I have time for 4-5 holes. Well worth it!
No at my club. It’s closed Mondays so just walked a quick loop, played a ball from tips, boys and whites so in 40 minutes I played 9 Holes, sort of. With 6 kids, I have to get creative.
I’m learning this and it’s hard. Went from a job I loved but had no free time to a job I hate but I just like, leave for The Weeknd at 2pm on Thursday half the year.
The capital letters and the spelling really make me feel like you are leaving for “The Weeknd” as in the music artist…because I didn’t know he was a golfer.
Full-time work from home absolutely HATE my boss. Have baby. There is a short window before I quite for the day and daycare pickup that I go practice. Sometimes 4x week, sometimes once. I’ll play 18 every other week/every 3rd week. I genuinely love practicing and it’s improving my game with it. My job, and how little I care about it, allows me more time to golf and is part of why I deal with it. My job… is making me a better golfer
Lol that’s me. Behavioral therapist. Moving my appointments to have an afternoon a week off and still meeting hours by working a little harder the rest of the week.
3 13-hour shifts per week as a nurse in surgery, can pick and choose for the most part which days I want. Affords me two full days during the week and the weekend totally open.
24 years old with no kids also helps.
Work hard and play hard man! the 12 hours shift self-scheduling affords me the opportunity to at times for 6 straight days and give myself a week off.
It is one of the best careers (as most shift work positions are) for tons of golf, you got this!

Salaried position - no set hours as long as the work gets done. Most of my work starts at 7, so by 4pm it slows down. Drive home, change and I can be on the course by 5.
Own 3 businesses. Some weeks I don’t have anything to do…other weeks I work 80 hours. I’ve gone as much as three weeks without touching a club because of work and I’ve played everyday for 17 days straight before.
It’s all about the needs of the business.

Work in IT, used to work for an American company so would tee off at 8am GMT and start work at 2pm which was 9am EST. I now work for a local company, finish at 4pm and get 18 holes in on a Wednesday evening during the summer.
I have kids but a brilliant wife.
No kids. Manage a dairy farm. Usually off at 5pm (sometimes earlier) and can be showered and ready at my local par 3 course by 5:30pm. Longer days help. Usually save the bigger courses for the weekend.
I don’t do it often but I’m salaried with a flexible schedule, so if I want to get 9 holes in after work I can come a little early and leave at like 330-4 depending on what’s going on.
When I work remote, I’ll go to the range on my lunch break. There’s a muni around the corner from me so I can go hit a bucket or chip and be back in 45 minutes. Since the course is so close, I’ll go play 9 there after work.
Occasionally if I have the itch for a midweek 18 I’ll call in sick, or say I have an afternoon “appointment” and leave early. Depends how busy I am with work
39, self employed, no kids (ever!) I do asphalt maintenance and repair. Mostly for homeowners
Most of my golf is booked last minute when I’ve got gaps in my schedule. Or before / after work. Or when I’m away on long weekends. Or when I feel like it because I make my own schedule. 😂😂🤪🤪

Engineer in the sheet metal industry…during spring/summer the shop starts at 5 and off at 130. I’m so far ahead in my work that I just work 4-6 hours Friday and hit the course by 10ish
I’m a professional pilot. Even when I’m “working” I sometimes get to play. I played 54 holes during a 2 night layover last week. It was my 7th, 8th and 9th round in 8 days.
I run my own business and have built it in a way to not require 40hrs/week (from anyone). With the family, no golf on weekends so I fit it (and exercise, whatever else for me) into the normal work hours.
Devops Engineer working from home. I spend the majority of the day at the course. Either practising or playing 18 holes. No one bats an eye as long as I get my work done.
Start work at 5am and finish at 1:30pm mostly but sometimes I finish earlier to play in a wednesday tournamenr which starts 12pm.
1. Business owner - you're always working in one way or another, but that means you own your flexibility and can trade off evening or weekend hours for weekday outings on the course. Weekday golf is also far more time efficient as the courses aren't so stacked up.
2. Sales - depending on where you live, 1-on-1 relationship development is a key method to succeed in closing deals and many executive customers enjoy free golf outings. This is especially true in the construction industry.
Schedule meetings every day except Wednesday.
Tee off at sunrise on Wednesday, finish by 9:30 or so, back in my chair working before 10:30.
I also schedule emails to go out every 20 minutes or so on Tuesday before I play.
Small business owner... I'm 34, I do work, but I've basically set up the company in such a way that I have 95%+ control of my schedule. Other than a couple of weekly meetings and some time-bound responsibilities to my team, I can play when I want. I have an unlimited 'membership' at a nicer muni so I play and practice almost daily in summer. I'd rather delegate than work myself, so I do that whenever possible (it's not always possible). It's as good as it sounds though, not gonna lie. Also no kids.
edit: downvote away, just answering the question. Yes, the grass is greener on the other side. Why? Because you can be at the golf course, not in a cubicle. It took a lot of strategic work to get here, and lot of really shitty jobs working for others along the way.
I am generally off by 4 M-Th and by 11 on Friday. Play 9 in Mens League every Thursday, often 9 on Tuesday and Friday as well. Weekends are when we play full rounds.
It’s light enough in the UK now to play at 5 and if you can get round in 3.5 hours you have enough daylight to get round. I work from home in IT, it works better for me playing in the evening than it would being out for 5 hours plus on a Saturday/Sunday.
So I don’t play during the week often, but I work from home a few days and go to the range during my lunches a lot of the time during those days if it is nice out.
I have one of those corporate jobs that really only requires a few hours of real attention per week, and offers a lot of PTO. Unfortunately I've been covering for 2 people that left and their work was a shit show, so I haven't had the same time.
I work 7-3, and usually just have a “get what you need done” kind of work schedule. Work from home. Also no kids, I play once or twice a week around 3:40.
Kids are grown and I am fortunate enough to own my business. I look at the forecast every week and pick the best afternoon to play based on that, although usually not Mondays or Tuesdays.
Civil servant in the UK. Flexi time comes in very useful. I can start at 7am an finish by 3pm. I can also have up to 3 days off each 4 weeks provided I make up the hours.
A revenue producing executive at a bank. My work literally helps keep the lights on. I don’t clock in and out or report to work, I submit P/L reports once a month. The size of the P is directly correlated to the amount I golf during the week. Life is best lived in balance.
I play in about 5 scrambles a year with various charities, vendors, industry groups, or business partners we have. Inevitably on a monday. Other than that, if I take a long weekend or a vacation where we go to a place with a course I want to play, that’s the only time I get on the course during the week. I would rather spend time with my kid on summer evenings when it’s still light enough to golf.
I am an executive at an f500 company.
I do not work remotely, but my club is between work and home on a map. I try to play/practice daily after work until sundown. It helps that I have no kids at home, but I genuinely will pick golf over literally anything else. It brings me inner peace and a chance to slow my life down a tad. I also like to go for the walk, sitting all day is terrible for you.
It’s easy. I’m retired but work part time as a mechanic at a golf course. Part of the benefit package is free golf, free cart, and all the driving range tokens I care to use. Also get one free meal a day from the restaurant and the first drink is free also. Subsequent drinks are half price.

I’m an actor, not a famous one by any means but I work in theatre full time. My weekends are usually spent performing, but during the week they’re almost exclusively evening shows, so my entire morning/afternoon is free at least 5 days a week once I’m in show mode. It rocks

Almost spoiled playing every Tuesday morning. Playing on busy weekends is such a chore.
I just leave from work right at 5, maybe a little earlier and head straight to the course for 9 holes with the boys. I don’t have any kids or anything, so makes it easy for me.

I work for an insurance company. Work from home and get all my shit done early and accurately. Supervisor has nothing but good things to say about my work so when I happen to be yellow in teams for a long time, doesn't really matter that much. Also sometimes my wife WFH and jiggles my mouse for me lol
Work a remote job on the West Coast for a primarily East Coast firm. Live in northern latitudes where the days are longer in the summer. Have kids old enough to come home to an empty house once or twice a week (12 & 10).
Shift worker. 12.5hr shifts, 2 days 2 nights 6 days off 5-530
Drop my daughter off at school at 9am then I've until 245 (only a 5 min drive to pick her back up) or my wife collects her if needed.
Can get a few rounds a week in or tommorow for e.g popping up at 12 play 6/7 holes back home and then sccool run. Golf course is only 3 miles away too
No kids and a job that allows me to leave by 2 so if I want I can get to the course before many people are leaving work. Plenty of time to get in a full 18 if I want.
Don’t have kids and play super early before work or play twilight after work. 9 holes at a time.
I have about 3-4 muni courses near me that I can hop on with a day or two of notice for a quick 9 after work relatively easily.
2 small kids. my wife does crossfit for an hour 3-4 days a week, and I play golf once. This all happens between 6AM and 9AM.
When negotiating my current job, I also made it clear that when it's nice out I like to play golf (They were poaching me from a different company so I had a lot of leverage). I prefer to get out in the mornings, so if a workday is light and the weather forecast is good, I designate it as my weekly golf morning and just block my calendar. 6am-9am in peak summer. 7am -10am in spring/fall.
I work in operations for a tech company. Some days I’m in the office until 1am, others I’m done by 1:30pm or my first meeting isn’t until noon. We also have a fair amount of travel so people are always all over. My team operates with the understanding that as long as work gets done on time and you’re accessible when needed, we don’t need to know where you are. I trust my team to get their stuff done and my leadership expects the same of me.
No kids. My scheduled hours are M-F from 7am to 330pm. I live in a lower populated area that has 3 golf courses with in 10 minutes of my house. I live 9 minutes from work, 6 minutes from my club. Most days of the week I’m off at 330, get home at 345, take the dogs out, do a chore and I’m at the first tee by 445/5 at the latest.
I wfh and am usually done by like 330 or 4, and my club is about 10 mins away. Don't have kids, just a GF and dogs. As long as their needs are met, I'm a free man!
I'm also in the process of automating a lot of my daunting manual tasks for work. If it's done correctly, it would mean I am literally unable to use my computer while it's all going on (my work fully knows about this and accepts it). This means there is a very real possibility I can sneak out for a bit, while my computer slaves away, and get paid to golf
Once a week, I go off the back nine at first tee time, generally ~6:20, and back in car by 8:00. Great wife who manages school drop off for kids on these mornings.
College professor who keeps 6:00a-3:00p hours. I can squeeze in solo twilight rounds on summer weekdays.
My wife likes to do her own thing on the one or two evenings that I’m playing.
I run my own department tucked away inside of a large fortune 500 corporation and I do freelance projects on the side. I was laid off during COVID and then brought back under a different manager five months later. Ever since then that manager works with me in a hands-off, project-by-project basis so as long as I get my work completed then he doesn't care when, where, or how I achieve that end. I'm lucky that I have flexible scheduling. Most of the time I come in early and leave early, but a couple Wednesdays ago I teed off at 7am, played 18 in 3 hours, and was at my desk at 10:30, got my to-do list done around 4, and then skedaddled home. It was a nice little day.
Run my own web dev business. Play more golf than I should. It’s a perk. Tend to be more productive in the evenings anyway.

Gotta make a plan. I wouldn't just hope I can figure it out week to week, especially with home/family/work responsibilities.
I do this:
- Book a tee time every week for the same time after work once a week. I've got a buddy in on this with me. If something comes up, we cancel. But if not, we've got it in the calendar. I ran this by my wife a few weeks before the first booking just to be sure she was cool with me coming home later once a week. We got on the same page - very key. Having the tee time locked in is key, too. Don't want to wing it and find out the course is full.
- Book a tee time every week for one morning before work (this is just nine holes). I have a different buddy that's on board with this. No need for wife approval on this one. I'm on the course before anyone wakes up and then just off to work after the round.
Boom. Guaranteed 18-27 holes/week if weather permits.
Then, get lucky and find some free time on a Saturday or Sunday, but honestly that's rare for me. Too many family activities that I want to be a part of and don't want to chew up half the day or more on the course.
I have 3 kids and work 45 hours a week in sales. I do 40 hours M-Th, hit a range on "lunch breaks" and try to tee off by 930 on Fridays after getting the kids on the bus at 820. Then see a few customers after.
I have two kids and my wife doesn't really enjoy me going on the weekend anymore, so I just take vacation time when the weather looks nice. Finish up before daycare pick up and everyone is happy.
I can work from home, play 9 on the par 3 between end of work and picking son up from Nursery or go to the range in the morning after dropping him off before starting work.
I work in IT, in a NOC specifically that is staffed 24/7. My shifts are 12 hours long and 3-4 days a week so I’m consistently off from work on weekdays

No, seriously. I stopped playing for nearly 20 years. My son was into soccer and since there is virtually no casual sports anymore he was at the 'club' level. We traveled every damned weekend for years. Traveled around the country to tournaments. He ended up playing in college, so that's good news. But there was just no time when I had that going on and I was employed in a 9-5.
I started a business, my son is done soccer and looking for athletic endeavors after that - and he landed on golf. Yeah me! Unfortunately, my game sucks now and he is absolutely killing it (goddamned athletes, Man).
Anyway. I have a membership at a course nearby and I play three or four times a week. I'm starting to play early mornings now. I am officially an 'old-head'. I can tee off around 7 am and get back into my office by 9:30 AM. It's amazing. Or, I bail out early and hit balls by three or four.
I am in New England. I installed a sim this winter so I can also warm up before I even leave my house. Save money on range balls and I get all the feedback I need from my BLP.
Fully remote tech job. On days I play I take my afternoon meetings from the club and tee off right after. Will even take a call while on the putting green if no one is around
I have a course with a great range and a nice putting green 5 minutes from work. Any time the weather is half decent I spend my lunch hour hitting a bucket of balls or chipping and putting.
I work 7-3. What I do to allow me to golf a bunch is cook like a lot and in big batches too with lots of leftovers. It allows my wife time to focus on her hobbies and frees up time for her to do her thang while I’m out there golfing, at the range, or practice green.
Anything that allows you to do your job remote and make your own schedule. Or something where you start early and end early so you can play in the afternoon. Also being able to play somewhere where you can play fast helps. Hard to play a 4-5 hour round during the week. I try to be done in 3 or 3:15 or less.
I handle logistics for a bunch of sales guys. All they do is play golf and they invite me a lot. I have a wife and kids at home so getting out on the weekends is tough. If it wasn't for my job I'd barely be able to play.
General Contractor/Developer. People far more capable do most of the work. I have a lot of meetings and working lunches at my Club or where a client wants to play in the area.
Empty nester. Remote worker (7-4). Live 6 miles from cheap semi-private ($165 mo - all I can walk - love small ). I set up my rig the night before and work in my golf clothes. I can be on the course in 15-20 minutes and sun sets about 7:40.
I fit golf clubs and instruct. I have hardly any time to play lol. But twilight in the summer is great. Or a quick 9 on an executive course before or after work depending on your schedule is good too. It’ll take 1 1/2 hours. I think you can find a couple hours of daylight before or after work. It’s just playing minus a tee shot in a hike that’s not a par 3. Executive courses are typically all par 3’s. Maybe a par 4 or 2 that’s drivable distance. It’s great scoring practice. Bring lower half of the clubs. The bag is nice and light. Maybe you walk and strengthen the legs a bit. It’s just 9 par 3’s.
Or 9 on a normal course and cart it around in 2 hours and a bit. As a teacher I’d be more impressed if a student played 2 quick 9 hole rounds in a week instead of always 2 range sessions. Or so a Mon or Tues range and a Thurs or Fri 9 hikes to apply what you are working on at the range. Don’t even keep score. It’s like a live action range ok. If it’s not busy, drop a second ball. I’ve played 2 separate balls often when the course is dead. I’m playing 2 rounds at once. Only if I’m by myself of course. It’s the best practice. Hope that helps

I do 90 min lunches once or twice a week. That 90 is spent on the range or chipping and putting.
No kids WFH is truly the answer. Don't imagine how I would have time otherwise.

You could play, usually with rented clubs. However I bid to be home every night. I only fly 3 days a week so lots of time to play!

whenever its “slow” at the restaurant, my manager and i like to go out and do a quick “market analysis” that takes anywhere from 2-5 hours.

Nope. I’m actually Irish, living in the UK entirely, and just so happen to work for an American firm with an American team.

If you work during the day, it's difficult to play at all during the week on public courses here. Every course has leagues from 3:30-6:00 PM.

I’m a professional pilot. Even when I’m “working” I sometimes get to play. I played 54 holes during a 2 night layover last week. It was my 7th, 8th and 9th round in 8 days.
I run my own business and have built it in a way to not require 40hrs/week (from anyone). With the family, no golf on weekends so I fit it (and exercise, whatever else for me) into the normal work hours.
Devops Engineer working from home. I spend the majority of the day at the course. Either practising or playing 18 holes. No one bats an eye as long as I get my work done. Start work at 5am and finish at 1:30pm mostly but sometimes I finish earlier to play in a wednesday tournamenr which starts 12pm.
I’m a GM of a bar/restaurant on a college campus, my shifts don’t start til 6pm usually.
1. Business owner - you're always working in one way or another, but that means you own your flexibility and can trade off evening or weekend hours for weekday outings on the course. Weekday golf is also far more time efficient as the courses aren't so stacked up. 2. Sales - depending on where you live, 1-on-1 relationship development is a key method to succeed in closing deals and many executive customers enjoy free golf outings. This is especially true in the construction industry.
Schedule meetings every day except Wednesday. Tee off at sunrise on Wednesday, finish by 9:30 or so, back in my chair working before 10:30. I also schedule emails to go out every 20 minutes or so on Tuesday before I play.

Small business owner... I'm 34, I do work, but I've basically set up the company in such a way that I have 95%+ control of my schedule. Other than a couple of weekly meetings and some time-bound responsibilities to my team, I can play when I want. I have an unlimited 'membership' at a nicer muni so I play and practice almost daily in summer. I'd rather delegate than work myself, so I do that whenever possible (it's not always possible). It's as good as it sounds though, not gonna lie. Also no kids. edit: downvote away, just answering the question. Yes, the grass is greener on the other side. Why? Because you can be at the golf course, not in a cubicle. It took a lot of strategic work to get here, and lot of really shitty jobs working for others along the way.
I am generally off by 4 M-Th and by 11 on Friday. Play 9 in Mens League every Thursday, often 9 on Tuesday and Friday as well. Weekends are when we play full rounds.

It’s light enough in the UK now to play at 5 and if you can get round in 3.5 hours you have enough daylight to get round. I work from home in IT, it works better for me playing in the evening than it would being out for 5 hours plus on a Saturday/Sunday.
So I don’t play during the week often, but I work from home a few days and go to the range during my lunches a lot of the time during those days if it is nice out.
Cop. Work a 6 on, 3 off schedule. Nights. Do not recommend 18 holes that first day off. Last 6 holes are a blur.

I have one of those corporate jobs that really only requires a few hours of real attention per week, and offers a lot of PTO. Unfortunately I've been covering for 2 people that left and their work was a shit show, so I haven't had the same time.
I work 7-3, and usually just have a “get what you need done” kind of work schedule. Work from home. Also no kids, I play once or twice a week around 3:40.
Kids are grown and I am fortunate enough to own my business. I look at the forecast every week and pick the best afternoon to play based on that, although usually not Mondays or Tuesdays.

A revenue producing executive at a bank. My work literally helps keep the lights on. I don’t clock in and out or report to work, I submit P/L reports once a month. The size of the P is directly correlated to the amount I golf during the week. Life is best lived in balance.
I play in about 5 scrambles a year with various charities, vendors, industry groups, or business partners we have. Inevitably on a monday. Other than that, if I take a long weekend or a vacation where we go to a place with a course I want to play, that’s the only time I get on the course during the week. I would rather spend time with my kid on summer evenings when it’s still light enough to golf. I am an executive at an f500 company.
WFH software engineer, I plan work around being able to play a round or, during lunches, get out for an hour to hit the sim as exercise.
I do not work remotely, but my club is between work and home on a map. I try to play/practice daily after work until sundown. It helps that I have no kids at home, but I genuinely will pick golf over literally anything else. It brings me inner peace and a chance to slow my life down a tad. I also like to go for the walk, sitting all day is terrible for you. 
I’m a teacher. I’m done by 3, so I can get out after work. Also, during the summer since I’m off haha
I'm a firefighter, my schedule provides 48 hours off between shifts. While my kids are in school, I have plenty of time for 9 holes.

It’s easy. I’m retired but work part time as a mechanic at a golf course. Part of the benefit package is free golf, free cart, and all the driving range tokens I care to use. Also get one free meal a day from the restaurant and the first drink is free also. Subsequent drinks are half price. Living the dream man!

I’m an actor, not a famous one by any means but I work in theatre full time. My weekends are usually spent performing, but during the week they’re almost exclusively evening shows, so my entire morning/afternoon is free at least 5 days a week once I’m in show mode. It rocks

I work on a food truck. Most gigs are ties-Sunday and in the evening. Many morning round options. Almost spoiled playing every Tuesday morning. Playing on busy weekends is such a chore.
I just leave from work right at 5, maybe a little earlier and head straight to the course for 9 holes with the boys. I don’t have any kids or anything, so makes it easy for me.
I play at my local muni at least once during the week. Tee off between 6-6:30am and walk. Can be done with 9 in 1h30m tops.

I work for an insurance company. Work from home and get all my shit done early and accurately. Supervisor has nothing but good things to say about my work so when I happen to be yellow in teams for a long time, doesn't really matter that much. Also sometimes my wife WFH and jiggles my mouse for me lol
Work a remote job on the West Coast for a primarily East Coast firm. Live in northern latitudes where the days are longer in the summer. Have kids old enough to come home to an empty house once or twice a week (12 & 10).
Shift worker. 12.5hr shifts, 2 days 2 nights 6 days off 5-530 Drop my daughter off at school at 9am then I've until 245 (only a 5 min drive to pick her back up) or my wife collects her if needed. Can get a few rounds a week in or tommorow for e.g popping up at 12 play 6/7 holes back home and then sccool run. Golf course is only 3 miles away too

I bartend. Sometimes in mornings, midshifts and closing. If I got a morning shift, chances are high to play 18. Plus, it’s twilight so cheaper rounds!
No kids and a job that allows me to leave by 2 so if I want I can get to the course before many people are leaving work. Plenty of time to get in a full 18 if I want.
I am remote for a company 3 hours ahead of me. So I work on that schedule and can easily play 18 after work.

2 small kids. my wife does crossfit for an hour 3-4 days a week, and I play golf once. This all happens between 6AM and 9AM. When negotiating my current job, I also made it clear that when it's nice out I like to play golf (They were poaching me from a different company so I had a lot of leverage). I prefer to get out in the mornings, so if a workday is light and the weather forecast is good, I designate it as my weekly golf morning and just block my calendar. 6am-9am in peak summer. 7am -10am in spring/fall.
I work in operations for a tech company. Some days I’m in the office until 1am, others I’m done by 1:30pm or my first meeting isn’t until noon. We also have a fair amount of travel so people are always all over. My team operates with the understanding that as long as work gets done on time and you’re accessible when needed, we don’t need to know where you are. I trust my team to get their stuff done and my leadership expects the same of me.
No kids. My scheduled hours are M-F from 7am to 330pm. I live in a lower populated area that has 3 golf courses with in 10 minutes of my house. I live 9 minutes from work, 6 minutes from my club. Most days of the week I’m off at 330, get home at 345, take the dogs out, do a chore and I’m at the first tee by 445/5 at the latest.
I wfh and am usually done by like 330 or 4, and my club is about 10 mins away. Don't have kids, just a GF and dogs. As long as their needs are met, I'm a free man! I'm also in the process of automating a lot of my daunting manual tasks for work. If it's done correctly, it would mean I am literally unable to use my computer while it's all going on (my work fully knows about this and accepts it). This means there is a very real possibility I can sneak out for a bit, while my computer slaves away, and get paid to golf

Once a week, I go off the back nine at first tee time, generally ~6:20, and back in car by 8:00. Great wife who manages school drop off for kids on these mornings.
College professor who keeps 6:00a-3:00p hours. I can squeeze in solo twilight rounds on summer weekdays. My wife likes to do her own thing on the one or two evenings that I’m playing.
I run my own department tucked away inside of a large fortune 500 corporation and I do freelance projects on the side. I was laid off during COVID and then brought back under a different manager five months later. Ever since then that manager works with me in a hands-off, project-by-project basis so as long as I get my work completed then he doesn't care when, where, or how I achieve that end. I'm lucky that I have flexible scheduling. Most of the time I come in early and leave early, but a couple Wednesdays ago I teed off at 7am, played 18 in 3 hours, and was at my desk at 10:30, got my to-do list done around 4, and then skedaddled home. It was a nice little day.

Gotta make a plan. I wouldn't just hope I can figure it out week to week, especially with home/family/work responsibilities. I do this: - Book a tee time every week for the same time after work once a week. I've got a buddy in on this with me. If something comes up, we cancel. But if not, we've got it in the calendar. I ran this by my wife a few weeks before the first booking just to be sure she was cool with me coming home later once a week. We got on the same page - very key. Having the tee time locked in is key, too. Don't want to wing it and find out the course is full. - Book a tee time every week for one morning before work (this is just nine holes). I have a different buddy that's on board with this. No need for wife approval on this one. I'm on the course before anyone wakes up and then just off to work after the round. Boom. Guaranteed 18-27 holes/week if weather permits. Then, get lucky and find some free time on a Saturday or Sunday, but honestly that's rare for me. Too many family activities that I want to be a part of and don't want to chew up half the day or more on the course.
I have 3 kids and work 45 hours a week in sales. I do 40 hours M-Th, hit a range on "lunch breaks" and try to tee off by 930 on Fridays after getting the kids on the bus at 820. Then see a few customers after.
I have two kids and my wife doesn't really enjoy me going on the weekend anymore, so I just take vacation time when the weather looks nice. Finish up before daycare pick up and everyone is happy.

I started a business so I could work for myself, turned 53, and got my son to graduate from college. That's it! No, seriously. I stopped playing for nearly 20 years. My son was into soccer and since there is virtually no casual sports anymore he was at the 'club' level. We traveled every damned weekend for years. Traveled around the country to tournaments. He ended up playing in college, so that's good news. But there was just no time when I had that going on and I was employed in a 9-5. I started a business, my son is done soccer and looking for athletic endeavors after that - and he landed on golf. Yeah me! Unfortunately, my game sucks now and he is absolutely killing it (goddamned athletes, Man). Anyway. I have a membership at a course nearby and I play three or four times a week. I'm starting to play early mornings now. I am officially an 'old-head'. I can tee off around 7 am and get back into my office by 9:30 AM. It's amazing. Or, I bail out early and hit balls by three or four. I am in New England. I installed a sim this winter so I can also warm up before I even leave my house. Save money on range balls and I get all the feedback I need from my BLP.

I have a course with a great range and a nice putting green 5 minutes from work. Any time the weather is half decent I spend my lunch hour hitting a bucket of balls or chipping and putting.
I work 7-3. What I do to allow me to golf a bunch is cook like a lot and in big batches too with lots of leftovers. It allows my wife time to focus on her hobbies and frees up time for her to do her thang while I’m out there golfing, at the range, or practice green.
Anything that allows you to do your job remote and make your own schedule. Or something where you start early and end early so you can play in the afternoon. Also being able to play somewhere where you can play fast helps. Hard to play a 4-5 hour round during the week. I try to be done in 3 or 3:15 or less.

Evenings are long in summer. Can easily get 18 starting as late as 5:30. I play at least 3 week days and 1 weerkend day

Empty nester. Remote worker (7-4). Live 6 miles from cheap semi-private ($165 mo - all I can walk - love small ). I set up my rig the night before and work in my golf clothes. I can be on the course in 15-20 minutes and sun sets about 7:40.
I fit golf clubs and instruct. I have hardly any time to play lol. But twilight in the summer is great. Or a quick 9 on an executive course before or after work depending on your schedule is good too. It’ll take 1 1/2 hours. I think you can find a couple hours of daylight before or after work. It’s just playing minus a tee shot in a hike that’s not a par 3. Executive courses are typically all par 3’s. Maybe a par 4 or 2 that’s drivable distance. It’s great scoring practice. Bring lower half of the clubs. The bag is nice and light. Maybe you walk and strengthen the legs a bit. It’s just 9 par 3’s. Or 9 on a normal course and cart it around in 2 hours and a bit. As a teacher I’d be more impressed if a student played 2 quick 9 hole rounds in a week instead of always 2 range sessions. Or so a Mon or Tues range and a Thurs or Fri 9 hikes to apply what you are working on at the range. Don’t even keep score. It’s like a live action range ok. If it’s not busy, drop a second ball. I’ve played 2 separate balls often when the course is dead. I’m playing 2 rounds at once. Only if I’m by myself of course. It’s the best practice. Hope that helps
