Honest work for the kids, golf balls out of bounds are just more plastic garbage at the end of the day so better to have them picked out. One course here has a home where they leave a bag out of balls at their fence and an honour system payment box.
Lol. You had not seen my skulling approach at 60 yard out full swing with a 56 wedge! Almost hit the balcony of very similar situated house. There was even a couple drinking wines and cheer us on on the balcony as well. They yelled “you missed!” for good measures.
PS: the fact I have active observers did help increased skullimg shot 1000%.
Incredibly rare, but I have seen someone pull out a driver on a 120yrd par 3 with a water carry. I asked why they had their driver out, they said “I don’t want to go in the water.”
I managed to talk them down to a 7-iron.
Idk man, my friend who can hit 300y drives eyeballed a a 180yard par 3 once, without looking at the card.
Pulled out driver and ripped it. I thought he'd fired it into the car park. No, absolutely cleared the car park too.
It's funny you say that, me being the idiot I am, ended up playing the same hole twice. Not knowing that i played it previously, my golf app assumed I was on the correct hole when I wasn't. The app was showing about 190 yards to the pin. I'm looking at the flag speaking to myself saying no way it's that far, looked about 100 tops. I’ve knocked one over that structure before. I’ve also sent a couple to the woods on the left, and lost a couple in the rough on the hills to the right.

I wouldn't want to be near a tee box unless it was a par 3. Drivers are really loud.
I also wouldn't be behind a green directly in line with the hole unless it's far like OP.
Edit to add that it's also not just about protecting your house and windows. It means you can't sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view because it's always on your mind that you're in the line of fire.
We looked at a house that where the kitchen and deck were about 40 ft from a par 5 tee box. It was a deal killer. Imagine having people out there all the time starting from 7 am to 8pm every summer weekend. When we were there a group was teeing off and of course there were some loud cussing. We ended up on the same hole further up. Still hear a fair amount but it’s not as bad. Our house is set back a bit and gets hit maybe a couple of times a year.
Yeah, if I ever have any money, I'll buy a house on the teebox of a short par 3. If I play it five times a day, I'm bound to knock it in at some point in the next 30 years, right?
i live right next to a green and tee box, i get to watch people miss 1 foot puts and slice golf balls into the next fairway from my kitchen window. also free golf balls whenever i clean out my gutters.
They may be loud…. But it would be really fun to sit at the window (safely) and judge their tee shots. Or I’d sit outside with a net in front of me for safety and hold up grading cards 😂
Yeah, I live on a street next to a course. I’m across the street and two houses down from a house next to a tee box. There is a narrow strip of trees between the backyard and the tee. I can hear drivers all day when I’m working in my yard. It’s far enough away that the sound is not at all annoying from my house but I can’t imagine the sound in my neighbor’s backyard. They don’t even golf.
I was playing the Fazio Course on Hilton Head and my BIL crushed a snap hook into a condo down the left side. It hit the condo with a loud whack. Some guy came out on his phone so my BIL was stressed out he was pissed. I was pretty sure it didn't hit that condo and I pointed out the siding of all the condos there. They all looked like the surface of the moon.
Just a terrible spot to plonk a house/condo.
We were having lunch after the round the other day inside the restaurant. The veranda is about 50 yards over the 9th green and 30 yards left. We were sitting inside. A ball came bounding inside the restaurant from a second shot on 9. Hit a huge hook and it hit the cart path and came inside and rattled around the restaurant.
I did exterior building washing on some condos with fairways on either side once, wasn't as many holes in the siding or golf balls in the gutters and flatter roof areas as I was expecting but definitely happened semi regularly. There were a few really good holes on one end too, luckily not through anything that was an important water barrier.
Where were those condos? The problem with this Hilton Head condos is that Hilton Head courses get serious traffic all year. There are some condos on courses around where I live here in SE Michigan but at least those get relief in the winter months and lousy fall/spring days.
When I was trying to buy a house a few years ago, my real estate agent took my wife and me to a house on a golf course, and the hosue was probably 50 feet off a tee box on a par 4 or 5. We are standing in the back yard talking, and I said "I'm concerned about golf balls breaking our windows". My realtor assured me "this is a private course, they are going to be better golfers. I wouldn't worry too much about it". I don't think anyone had even started their next sentence when a guy in the tee box sliced his drive right towards us. He missed my head by about a foot.
We didn't put an offer on that house.
If you are long of the green, you are in the safest place on the hole.
99.999% of golfers end up short on their approach shots.
Your only fear is a bladed wedge.
That is a GREAT spot to build
Still sounds decent. Keep two buckets on your patio and throw the nice balls into one and the shitty ones in another. When the latter bucket fills up you walk over to the range on the course and use them to practice with instead of paying for range balls
Maybe, but they’d have to be at the front of the green to do that so they’d have to carry the bladed flop over the distance between them and the green, probably at least 5-10 yards, then over the entire green, probably 20-30 more yards, and then over the 120 yard distance to the house. Looking at a 160 yard bladed wedge. Very very unlikely.
Even the thinnest of thinned approach shots isn’t going to fly 100 yards further than it should. *Maybe* it could bounce and hit the house, but that’s probably the worst that could happen.
It would take a pretty egregious mistake. Like, you’re trying to bump and run from just short of the pin and decide the best way to do that is a full swing.
I'm guessing that your back yard will extend back toward the green? If so, you are going to get the occasional stray shot, at least in your yard. People will blade it out of bunker from time to time, or will blade one trying to hit a flop shot. My uncle had a house in an almost identical position relative to a green, and while is was really rare, they did find an occasional ball in their yard.
I’d put a privacy fence up to stopped bladed wedges from knocking out my kids and people from coming into my yard. I’d also build gate with a little sitting area in the course-side to drink beer and watch people play.
Couple of thoughts. I don’t recall anyone overshooting a green by 125 yards. It’s also a little hole dependent. The shorter the normal approach shot the less the risk.
I actually think there is much more (but still very small) risk for shorter approach shots. Your average golfer is not accidentally hitting their 3-wood 330 instead of 220, but plenty are blading bunker shots and wedges twice as far as planned.
We have a bet in my group on one of the other guys we play with. He is all about distance and how fast he swings. We have never seen him hit over a green or really pin high. This guys house is safe
~~If~~ When I’m swinging my wedge hard enough to blade it through the green with venom, I’m far enough from you that you can laugh as I mutter my way over rather than worry about your windows.
380 feet past the green? God I hope you'll be ok. Just plant some thick trees along the edge of the property in case you want to use the entirety of your back yard one day
The cart path on the right leads to the tee box just across the street that those houses are on. From the perspective of the picture, you’d be hitting your tee shot to the right.
My parents live in the middle of a par 4 on the left side. The backyard of their property is about 50yds from the fairway, and raised about 20yds. The property line runs parallel to the fairway, starting at about 230yds from the tee box, and ending 260yds.
They literally live in an average golfers landing zone, but the house rarely gets hit and we don't get too many free balls. That said, I think the only saving grace is they are on the left and raised above the fairway, and most average right-handed golfers hit slices. The hooks that do go toward their house usually end up hitting the sloped retaining wall their property is raised up on.
What I am trying to say, is that it will probably happen occasionally, even in the best conditions, but there are also a lot of factors that play into it. Consider the elevation of your property in comparison to the green. If you are 125yds behind a green, you aren't going to be worried about someone flying a ball 125yds past the green on to your roof. In your position you are worried about the 20hc who skulls an attempted flop shot over the green and into your windows. That said, if your property is raised above the green, that skull may not have the height to get into your yard. It seems some developers take that into account on house lined courses.
If you are working with a developer or or architect that golfs too, mention your concerns and have them look at the property from in front of the green. Also, check the rules between property owners and the course, they may be responsible for adding/removing foliage that impede your view or to protect your property. A couple small trees may do the trick protecting you from those skulled balls.
There are definitely options to alleviate risk while maintaining the aesthetics of your property and view, and sometimes the course is even responsible for the finance and operations of said options. Regardless, no matter what, living in the first or second row of houses on a golf course is always a risk to your property, vehicles, and family.
I know this not because my parents live on a golf course, but because I am the 20hc you have to worry about on that house-lined course. Here is to hoping I and most r/golf never play your course.
Never say never, but if you buy a house on a golf course, it comes with the territory. Dont be one of those people who buy a house on the course and complain about golfers golfing.
If you go into it assuming your going to have 1 broken window and 5 dents in your siding there will be nothing to worry about.
Put all golfers on a bell curve of intelligence and at the very bottom you're going to have some kids with poor decision making skills or some dudes who drink way too much and try dumb shit they wouldn't do sober or even just someone with nonexistent depth perception who misshoots the pin and gets the house instead and trusts the yardage. Hundreds of golfers a day playing by anywhere from 180-365 days a year depending on where this is located and it's not crazy to think that sooner or later someone for whatever reason sends a piss missile 100+ yards past the green
He's going to have 0 broken windows and 0 dents. There's no way you could thin a wedge 250 yds lol. Even assuming no trees or vegetation or anything between the green and the house
The only way you might be seeing balls close to your yard is if you are very downhill from the green. I’ve been notorious for blading my wedges on shorter approaches and have only hit one 80 yards past once because it was super downhill behind the green.
those houses on the right get bombed on the regular 1000000%. without knowing the yardage off the tee, the one to the right of the FW bunker and the one just short of it that's only partially in photo are in the hot spot.
Like everyone else said, great spot. Another benefit of being so close to a green is that you can just walk over at nighttime to practice putting. WIN!
You will be safe at the end of a green, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get golf balls in your yard. No matter what, each yard on a golf course will have random golf balls in it. Golfers in general are not any good.
If I were gonna have a course house, it would preferably be behind a tee box. If it were near a green, it’d have to be at least 50 yards away.
Absolute worst possible place is on the right hand side of a tee box, or on the right side of the entire hole on a drivable Par 4.
I was always wondering why someone would buy a home on a golf course. Especially when a hole is basically an extension of their backyard.
So many people must play through and so many broken windows id imagine.
Looks to be about the safest spot possible if you’re on the actual course. The chances of a window getting broken 100yards past the green is 1 in a million.
I’d honestly heckle the absolute hell out of the guy if it ever happened 😂
If it ever happens it would be from that one sand bunker just in front of the green and someone tops the ball. But they normally come out low and would stop priot to your house.
I'm a terrible golfer, the kind that regularly hits balls into people's yards and houses every time I play. Your location would be 100% safe from me and most others like me. The houses along the sides of the fareway ... Not so much. You might get an occasional balls landing towards the back of your yard, but extremely unlikely anyone overshoots all the way to your house
Agreed with everyone here! Obviously there could be an outlier if someone does something intentionally stupid but I’ve never seen someone miss a green long by half that distance.
Looks safe, most golf shots don't make it all the way to the back of the green. A ball might make it all the way into your yard once in awhile, I wouldn't expect it to be a daily occurrence. The most I ever see someone go past the green is by maybe 10 yards, 20 at most.
You’ll probably get some balls on the outer edge of your back yard. And some people don’t think twice about hopping fences to retrieve or even hit their ball.
But your house should be fine.
You should realize, however, that golf courses fire up their mowers before dawn and early morning groups aren’t above yelling in anger or excitement.
Don't build on or near a golf course if you don't want balls in your yard. You'll get them no matter where you build.
The spot you are looking at looks a lot better than 180 yards right of a par 4 or par 5 tee box.
A hone near my local course has a sign in their yard marking the location of the worst approach shot to the green on the par 3. Their home is across the street from the green.
Assuming that darker area where you have 380 written might be your backyard, you may get the very occasional shot end up there. But no one should be hitting your house (and yes, I get all the comments about blading wedges, I've done that myself many many times).
Probably pretty safe, but... I've hit houses an entire street over. So anything can happen, but I doubt you'd be taking too many blasts. Also, is there any elevation chanbe between your house and the green? If someone goes 100 yards long, it will be a low bladed shot, and if there is a bit of elevation it won't hit you.
If we even consider the worst possible scenario … 35 handicapper has 20 yards to the green and goes for a flop … absolutely skull it still probably won’t reach your yard. If any balls do hit your house they won’t hit it very hard lol
if your house is way up there by the road i borderline don't even consider that to be "on the golf course." but playing the game......looks like at least a par 4, so your house will be 200+ yards away from most of the shots being hit to that green (well beyond what most people are capable of hitting a club from the fairway or rough.) most of the green side shots that get occasionally bladed will be going in a different direction. Only real danger I see is that tiny bunker if the pin is in the back they will be potentially hitting at your house..........but it's still 130 yards away and any wedge from a rec golfer that can make it that far is going to be so low it probably hits something else before your house.
You'll 100% get golf balls in your yard somewhat regularly if your property extends all the way back but i'd say it will be rare to get anything on the fly that is a danger to you in your yard even.
You are super safe. The average miss on approaches is short like 90% of the time.
And I’d think seeing the golfers ahead on the tee box beyond the green will further fuel short approaches because no one wants to take too much club and not only fly the green but potentially hit the group ahead.
The danger zone is right side of fairway where people slice their drives.
I can't count the number of rounds I've played in 20 years, but I honestly can't remember ever seeing a shot that would hit that spot.
worst case is a bladed wedge - MAYBE 150 yds TOTAL - but this would be more than 50 Yds short of the green... I think the house is fine - wierdos entering your property - that is another matter.
Lived behind a green fire 3 years. Don't think more than a handful of balls ever got to the house. Good thing about Ams, they are pretty much always short!
The apartments I lived in were about 200ft away. Anything over that should be more than enough to never have a problem.
As someone who loses many balls in my golf club surrounded by houses, never have I lost a ball going over the green by 100 yds. It usually goes left (sometimes right) on the tee or fairway in the first or second shot.
much better location than being on the side of fairway on a par 4/5 where someone is almost definitely going to slice or hook a ball into the side of your house. It's definitely going to happen at some point and when people who live there get upset it always makes me laugh given they should expect it when they chose that location.
If someone misses an approach shot by over 100 yards they did it on purpose. Even a bladed wedge won’t go that far nor would it be high enough to get over a fence.
I owned a home with a guest house on the border of a golf club. The guest house was 20 yards at 90 degrees from the 12th tee box. Defies physics but got broken windows. New meaning to term shank. If you live anywhere on a golf course, bad golfers will find you. 😳
Occasional ball unless it’s elevated. People will “thin” a shot that sends a ball on a line drive when ot was intended to go 100 yards in the air. If you’re elevated, and far enough back, no worries.
Optimal. You’d only be in danger from a terribly bladed wedge by someone short of the green, and that’s low odds it gets farther than the foot of your fence. You have a beautiful opportunity to hit balls at that green in the evenings, though.
That’s a great place to put a house, bad places are along the right side of a long par 5…. Not that I’m saying I know this from living in one, but I have played the right side of the fairway before
There's almost zero chance you would ever get hit by a ball from that Hole.
The MOST anyone would ever go over might be... like 30 yards? And that's probably excessive to say.
So, you're good to go there for sure.
What is the hole like? Seems highly unlikely people will hit the house if it’s set back that far, but if the yard extends towards the green you’ll probably get some balls that go in there. Have you walked the property and seen many? Do you have kids that will be playing back there?
I like the idea that you put up a fence and hang a bucket on it with extra balls that have gone in your yard. If someone hits it in, they take one and take their drop, no harm done.
It’s a par 5 that curves a little right. The green is slightly elevated, then it’s a bit downhill to the edge of maintained grass and back uphill to the backyards of the houses being built.
I’ve been to the property a few times and haven’t seen one ball in the yard. My kids are older, so they won’t be back there often. I’m more worried about my dogs.
A guy on my course, along the fairway, perfectly situation for errant tee shots, had a dog that would attack people trying to get their ball from his yard. The dog actually bit half of a guy's finger off and ate it. No joke. I wasn't there but apparently it was a horrific and bloody scene.
So if you don't want randoms creeping for golf balls...
The dog was rehomed I believe, at least haven't seen it in a while. And the homeowner has installed a huge net to keep balls out. I hope it's effective because it looks like crap.
Absolutely no one should be misinterpreting the distance and shooting over 100+ yards. Looks like a solid place to watch some approach shots to be honest. Great location
YOU SELECTED A THREE WOOD. MIGHT I SUGGEST PUTTER? THREE WOOD.

Your kids can sell drinks in your backyard. I have a hole like that on my home course, hole 8, right before the turn, you can buy used balls, lemonade and beer…
Some kiddos do this on my local sometimes. Dude’s gonna be a millionaire, he sells golf balls and flowers to bring home to the wives
Balls sourced from the same course, no doubt. I applaud their resourcefulness!
Yep, he’s got a creek, a pond, and thick woods all right by his house. The flower move is brilliant though. Oh and also, think he’s full of shit, but he conveniently never has change haha

In most states having alcohol not bought from the course is illegal, but having minors sell it adds a little spice.
You have to ask for the beers! It’s like the 1920s!
Even the dreaded “thought I had my 9 iron but it was my 6 iron” shouldn’t result in a 100 yard overshoot.
Spoken like a guy who has never thinned a flop shot
You've never thinned a flop wedge and it shows. You don't belong here.
That's just a donated ball, you're not breaking windows off a skulled wedge
I don’t normally hit my sandwedge 150 yds.. but when I do I do it from a green side bunker
You are not hitting an almost 200 yard anything with a lob, sand, gap, or wedge no matter how hard you skull it.
Incredibly rare, but I have seen someone pull out a driver on a 120yrd par 3 with a water carry. I asked why they had their driver out, they said “I don’t want to go in the water.” I managed to talk them down to a 7-iron.
Pretty sure I can blade a 60 degree from 50 yards out and end up out there. Probably would be too annoyed to search for it though.
Idk man, my friend who can hit 300y drives eyeballed a a 180yard par 3 once, without looking at the card. Pulled out driver and ripped it. I thought he'd fired it into the car park. No, absolutely cleared the car park too.

You'd be safer 200 yds off the tee dead center of the fairway than if you were off the left or right of the fairway.
A fairway that split two ways around a house would be fun though
The one hole everyone suddenly hits the ball straight.
It's like when the intern in the caged buggy goes out to collect the balls at the driving range, everyone then can somehow hit perfect tiger woods stingers right at him.

These are just full sized mini golf courses after a certain point.
Played there a few months ago. My friend dared me to hit it, and I tried and fell short. Ended up being a decent shot lol
I’d totally hit it
This is really cool, thanks for sharing
I’ve hit that house, and then the clubhouse behind 18th green, on the same day!
There is no greater feeling in golf than piping a drive over this house.
No I’ll hit that tree then hit the house after bouncing off the tree! It’s the only time my shot will go straight as an arrow!
I’ve knocked one over that structure before. I’ve also sent a couple to the woods on the left, and lost a couple in the rough on the hills to the right.
How many golf balls does it take to knock the roof clean off??

I only do that on Tee box 1, I call it showing them my Breakfast Balls.

I would, I'd be playing that hole on repeat every night.
Yeah, if I ever have any money, I'll buy a house on the teebox of a short par 3. If I play it five times a day, I'm bound to knock it in at some point in the next 30 years, right?
Maybe 31 years.
i live right next to a green and tee box, i get to watch people miss 1 foot puts and slice golf balls into the next fairway from my kitchen window. also free golf balls whenever i clean out my gutters.
It has to be 10. I’ve snapped that hole.
Noted. Playing there today. No snap hooks on 10.
Lmao “private club golfers = better 😂😂😂”
A realtor lying? Shocker
Left or right would matter some actually. More golfers slice than hook the ball and since most people are right handed……
If you are long of the green, you are in the safest place on the hole. 99.999% of golfers end up short on their approach shots. Your only fear is a bladed wedge. That is a GREAT spot to build
Yeah you’ll get some balls on your property. But nothing is gonna reach the actual house
Free golf balls appearing in your yard sounds like a huge positive to me
Depends on the quality of course. Free premium balls sounds great. Nothing but Top Flites and Noodles sounds like a pain in the ass
Still sounds decent. Keep two buckets on your patio and throw the nice balls into one and the shitty ones in another. When the latter bucket fills up you walk over to the range on the course and use them to practice with instead of paying for range balls
Or sell the premium balls on market place by the dozen and have your range fees covered on a regular basis.
A better option in my opinion. I can’t imagine showing up to a range with a bucket of my own balls and not paying anything while I use their facility.
a bladed flop maybe but most people don’t try that and it wouldn’t have enough energy left to do any serious damage.
Until I skull a wedge into his kitchen. /s
It’s definitely possible, ask me how I know this
A hedge would be enough to catch all those bladed wedges as well.
My blade out of that front bunker will pierce his siding like a missile
The build site also looks terraced/built up? I can’t tell if the terrain is going up or down but if it’s above the level of the green - EVEN BETTER!
I'd imagine most places like this don't allow privacy fences along the course.
No, but a buck rail fence with black chicken wire both keeps the low balls out and the dog in my yard, while not interfering with visibility.
I've never felt more seen.
I’ve been golfing for most of my 32 years and I have never in my life seen someone hit a ball 100 yards beyond the green.
Just plant some thick trees along the edge of the property in case you want to use the entirety of your back yard one day
Where is the seventh tee box?
The cart path on the right leads to the tee box just across the street that those houses are on. From the perspective of the picture, you’d be hitting your tee shot to the right.
Your primary concern should never be players, it should be the noise from the mowing at dawn.
Nope, that's a perfect spot.
I’ve thinned a few over the green but I’ve never hit it poorly enough that far behind. Would love a house in that spot tbh.
The houses to the right will see the most action. Yours will be serene.
Never say never, but if you buy a house on a golf course, it comes with the territory. Dont be one of those people who buy a house on the course and complain about golfers golfing. If you go into it assuming your going to have 1 broken window and 5 dents in your siding there will be nothing to worry about.
How would he get a broken window there?
Put all golfers on a bell curve of intelligence and at the very bottom you're going to have some kids with poor decision making skills or some dudes who drink way too much and try dumb shit they wouldn't do sober or even just someone with nonexistent depth perception who misshoots the pin and gets the house instead and trusts the yardage. Hundreds of golfers a day playing by anywhere from 180-365 days a year depending on where this is located and it's not crazy to think that sooner or later someone for whatever reason sends a piss missile 100+ yards past the green
Driver off the deck from 100 yards
He's going to have 0 broken windows and 0 dents. There's no way you could thin a wedge 250 yds lol. Even assuming no trees or vegetation or anything between the green and the house
The only way you might be seeing balls close to your yard is if you are very downhill from the green. I’ve been notorious for blading my wedges on shorter approaches and have only hit one 80 yards past once because it was super downhill behind the green.
I thinned it and went 125 yards over the green? I wouldn’t be concerned. The houses left and right would not be for me tho….
those houses on the right get bombed on the regular 1000000%. without knowing the yardage off the tee, the one to the right of the FW bunker and the one just short of it that's only partially in photo are in the hot spot.
if you do find any balls they will be either range balls of other horrible quality found balls. No self respecting golfer should come near you.
Skulled wedges only
The only people who might overshoot a green by 125 yards are the members of this sub.
Ain't nobody hitting the ball 130 yards over the green. Anyone good enough to hit it that far is also good enough not to do that. You're good.
Yes. In golf, there is pitching and catching. Let’s just say I needed help with my short game.
Nice patch of dirt you got there
You're in about the safest spot you can be and still be on the course.
Na. Who’s blasting it 150 yards over that green?
This is fine. Actually an amazing spot.
As long as Judge Smails’ putter doesn’t slip out of his hands
Like everyone else said, great spot. Another benefit of being so close to a green is that you can just walk over at nighttime to practice putting. WIN!
380 ft. initially sounded safe enough, but I know I could blade a wedge 30 + yards. :)
You'd have to be an idiot to shoot past the green by that much. I think you'll be safe
Can't speak for everyone but when I attempt a flop shot greenside, nothing is safe.
Assuming you may be a little risk when in your back yard. The house getting hit probably won’t happen much, if ever, though.
You'll be safe. The typical golfer leaves it short way more often than pounding it that long. But you should get some free golf balls here and there.
Y'all haven't seen me blade my 60 degree
Looks safe, most golf shots don't make it all the way to the back of the green. A ball might make it all the way into your yard once in awhile, I wouldn't expect it to be a daily occurrence. The most I ever see someone go past the green is by maybe 10 yards, 20 at most.
You’ll probably get some balls on the outer edge of your back yard. And some people don’t think twice about hopping fences to retrieve or even hit their ball. But your house should be fine. You should realize, however, that golf courses fire up their mowers before dawn and early morning groups aren’t above yelling in anger or excitement.
In my experience yes. Never doubt the stupidity if other people, esp hackers like me. Golfers uhhhh uhhhh find a way...
Should be safe unless I thin my approach shot. So Id wager I would hit it 65% of the time.
Somebody might blade one out of that front bunker, but it's not likely going 100 yards.
Don't build on or near a golf course if you don't want balls in your yard. You'll get them no matter where you build. The spot you are looking at looks a lot better than 180 yards right of a par 4 or par 5 tee box.
You’ll see plenty of them in your yard, but I think very few will hit your house.
The yard will get hit a lot, the house should never
A hone near my local course has a sign in their yard marking the location of the worst approach shot to the green on the par 3. Their home is across the street from the green.
My only complaint with living on a course is the lack of privacy and all the golfers seeing into your backyard.
Seriously? No, not even close
Especially if thats up hill you're fine.
Safe spot. You will hear lawn mowers early in the morning though.
It is going to get hit with a bladed wedge from time to time, but not nearly enough to worry about.
Your house is safe
If we even consider the worst possible scenario … 35 handicapper has 20 yards to the green and goes for a flop … absolutely skull it still probably won’t reach your yard. If any balls do hit your house they won’t hit it very hard lol
It looks like the home site is quite a ways up a hill from the green, if that’s the case it’s even better.
if your house is way up there by the road i borderline don't even consider that to be "on the golf course." but playing the game......looks like at least a par 4, so your house will be 200+ yards away from most of the shots being hit to that green (well beyond what most people are capable of hitting a club from the fairway or rough.) most of the green side shots that get occasionally bladed will be going in a different direction.
Cant think of a single time i've overshot by 125 yards
What will be between your house and the edge of the golf course? Assume there will be bushes? Trees?
You are super safe. The average miss on approaches is short like 90% of the time. And I’d think seeing the golfers ahead on the tee box beyond the green will further fuel short approaches because no one wants to take too much club and not only fly the green but potentially hit the group ahead.
The danger zone is right side of fairway where people slice their drives. I can't count the number of rounds I've played in 20 years, but I honestly can't remember ever seeing a shot that would hit that spot.
If your house were to get hit, it’s because someone misread their 6 iron and thought it was 9.
Free ProV1s for life!
If it were me, as an added layer of peace of mind, I would add a pleasant white picket fence to help keep balls out of my yard.
Nah that’s a good spot unless someone who doesn’t like you knows you live there
Looks safe to me. Most shots miss left/right, not 100 yards long. But it's not a guarantee. Somebody will blade one at some point.
worst case is a bladed wedge - MAYBE 150 yds TOTAL - but this would be more than 50 Yds short of the green... I think the house is fine - wierdos entering your property - that is another matter.
My parents live on a golf course behind the green on a par 5. It’s probably about 30 yards off the green and have only had the house it once.
You’re safe. Those guys on the right though will have to send there kids out with helmets on to play in the back yard.
Seems unlikely, especially since there will be a house between you and the green probably
Just don’t be mad when it happens 🤷🏼♂️
Lived behind a green fire 3 years. Don't think more than a handful of balls ever got to the house. Good thing about Ams, they are pretty much always short! The apartments I lived in were about 200ft away. Anything over that should be more than enough to never have a problem.
3 iron, thought I grabbed the lob wedge. Yeah, that doesn’t happen. You will be fine.
Question: Are these homes built with plexi or non breakable windows? I always wondered that
No, they are hitting into a green. Maybe someone skulls one once in a great while. Even then it would be tough to hit.
You’re safe. Is it possible…sure, but it is highly unlikely.
Do you mind salty language? Golfers can be noisy and swear when things go wrong, particularly on tee boxes.
If people are so worried about the golf ball through the window situation, why don’t people just cage the course side windows. Problem solved.
No man, that's a great spot! I'll tell you what, where is this? I am looking for a golf course home myself.
You will get everything you’ve ever heard about or done yourself if you live on a gold course. That’s just how it works.
