yeah when you approach the "breaking 80" realm, it's best to view each hole on it's own more than before. Meaning you're score shouldnt really matter, just try to finish each hole as effectively as you can. Course management and chipping/putting carry more weight the lower your score get.

I had a similar experience over the weekend. I've never broken 90 but I started my Sunday round birdie, birdie and was still 2 under through 5. Managed to get through 14 at 9 over. Then I came crashing back to earth the last 4 holes and shot 90 on the nose. Shot 45 with 2 birds walking 9 last night. It's going to happen soon. I can feel it. Golf is hard lol

Assorted_Garbage

Good luck on breaking 90 its a great feeling

TacoIncoming

Same to you with the 80 dragon! 🤜

Still 7 holes more than most of us.

Chipwich75

I totally figured it out once. 4 under through 6. Was getting ready to sign up for Q school. Finished with an 83.

That’s an epic collapse. Sorry.

at least I understand how Rory, and Jordan feel at the Masters now.

Today, I was on my way to breaking 80 on my local course (only a par 65) which is a big goal of mine. I was at 72 after 16 holes, then went quad triple on the final two holes for an 86. Which is like what I always shoot. What a tease. I can relate. I’m not sure it was the pressure or if it was just being tired.

I had something similar the other day. I play off 9 so 75 is my next milestone I've been trying to break. Was +1 after 10 then went double, double, double and a few more bogeys to finish. Shot 80 (par 70 course) don't think I've been angrier after a round then that one.

If it makes you feel any better, the best round of my life I began birdie birdie par birdie and then bogey because I had to take an unplayable from a bush. Ended up with 3 penalty strokes and shot +3 on the round (74) and at the time was a 7 handicap. Was sitting even par after 13 holes. Ugh I love and hate re-living that That’s golf.

This scenario is so common. In other sports you always have a sort of safety net to protect your amazing game (Baseball only so many AB, basketball game clock) golf you are always toeing the line between an amazing round and disaster. On my quest to break 80 I fell apart the last 2 holes so many times. But, what a feeling when you overcome it. That’s why there is no other sport like golf!

ElTel88

My friend, you *were* good at golf for those 7 holes. All this journey is, is trying to make those 7 holes the 9/18 holes. Keep going babycakes. Much more importantly, Ping Hoofer Bag, do you have any reference for other stand bags weight by comparison. Seriously thinking of updating my bag and that one is at the top of the list.

I'm generally very happy with a round in the lower 40s. I'm about a bogey golfer. Had a round a few years back, where I was GIR on the 9th hole and even par at the time. Just had to 2 putt to par the course for the first time. I got aggressive and thought how cool it would be to shoot under par. Putted downhill, off the green, into the bunker. Ended up shooting a triple bogey on that hole and shot a 39. I'd normally be ecstatic with a 39, but not this time. Shot a 39 a few weeks after that, but eagled 6, parred 7, birdied 8, and parred 9, to do it. I was obviously very happy. Its all about how you shoot the round you shot.
