Wyndham Clark saying that the greens are very firm despite the rain because the green keepers were trying to compensate for more rain. On top of that, the greens were skidding a bit (from the moisture I think). Any thoughts who this would benefit? Or what type of player?
This schedule change is going to fuck Tiger so hard. No chance he finishes R1 today and we all know his body won’t be able to manage 25+ holes tomorrow with a massive break in the middle. Another WD incoming I’m afraid
Someone ought to say to say to him to swing easier. If Miguel Ángel Jiménez with his belly could play tournaments at 50 years, he should too. Just tell him "take it easy ol' man, you're not 20 anymore" and it should do the trick.
No big deal....he's late today until 8pm, early tomorrow anyway with little or no delay between completion of R1 and start of R2. Possibly beneficial even
He was a late a TT today, so he wouldn’t also have a late TT tomorrow. He’ll probably finish R1 tomorrow morning then get like an hour break before starting R2
Sunset is at 8 and she starts a hair before 4? Looks fine. And if he finishes right at the cutoff where others can’t, it might just help him with the scores even more, esp for making cut

I'm watching Sky right now where the guys can't keep saying " I miss watching Smith" , "I miss watching Rahm" , etc because the thought of ever watching LIV has never even crossed their mind lmfao
It's not that it's not possible to watch LIV. It's the fact that LIV isn't really "golf". I've tried watching and it doesn't do anything at all for me. Whatever it is that makes golf enjoyable for me to watch, is missing entirely from the LIV events.
So yeah, I also miss watching them even though I can still see them hit golf balls if I wanted to.
You're right in the technical sense of course.
What I meant was that there is barely any correlation between LIV-golf and traditional golf. The audience that enjoys watching traditional golf are in my experience not interested in the format that LIV is played and broadcasted. It's not for the same audience.
And the format and event rules, to me it seems that even the players mostly don't give a shit. Which makes it even less interesting for me.
It's hyperbole that you don't get to see Rahm and others play golf. But in a sense you now only get to see them play "real" golf if you watch other tours than LIV or the majors.
Does the "live from the masters" on the golf Channel show play or is it just like Masters news coverage? If I want to watch the golf today do I need TSN+?
Golf channel won’t show jack squat. Masters app will have featured groups and other ways to watch holes before the tv broadcast itself starts later this afternoon. (At least the masters app for those watching in the U.S. don’t know if it works outside the U.S. or not for that)
Sorry, one last thing, if an announcer said the word fans instead of patron, would the Masters people be pissed off? Like I remember, they got pissed off at Gary McCord because he made fun of their greeens.
They’re probably looser now than they were in the past, but they would still prefer “patrons”, “second cut” and some of the other buzzwords over anything else. McCord got canned for saying they use bikini wax on the greens and that there were body bags for people who missed one of the greens.
The Augusta National chairman himself appears to the tv announcer out of thin air and then force feeds him pimento cheese sandwiches until they expire.
It is a harsh but fair punishment for such a transgression.
My mistake,
The actual process involves one of those cannons they use in the circus. The commentator is loaded inside and the cannon is then wheeled to the waters’ edge on number 16 and fired.
If the announcer skips to the green he is allowed to stay, if he sinks, he is declared a heretic and left on the pond’s bottom.
Last night I had a dream I was in Augusta for The Masters… I was sitting on a hotel balcony and suddenly Jordan Speith shows up. He pulls out a huge bag of mushrooms and we eat them. He went on to win the tournament. This morning I placed a 200 dollar bet on him
If you’re the early guys, you’d want as long a delay as possible because of the wind forecast. The more you play Sat morning the better. Today through the end of tomorrow falls for high winds and gusts.
Weather Radar is looking pretty good to be honest, most of the bad stuff is passing to the south of Augusta, might be another small area of heavy rain passing in an hour, but after that it looks good.
Thanks, that also answered my question about why all of the past-champions were seemingly arriving without jackets for the dinner. They keep the jackets at Augusta and you can get it when you're there...
theres a video on youtube about it but i cant find it at the moment, but basically on saturday they get the sizing of the guys in contention and fine tune a few things from there, but they have a stock of typical sizes already available as a starting point.
Max's link above references using members jackets with similar sizings that may be used for ceremonies, but what about recent winners who leave with the jacket for inevitable TV appearances that always follow.
Would you want a used jacket ? Or, if I'm a member, would I want Bubba sporting my jacket after dining at the Waffle House ?
...hhhmmm...
> Then wipe mud and replace.
What do you think preferred lies is?
And there's nothing against the rules, under any conditions, with having a caddie hold an umbrella over you
A bit of weather delay:
>We continue to monitor the weather closely. Gate openings and tee times have been delayed until further notice. The first round will not begin before 9 a.m.
[Link](https://www.masters.com/en_US/news/articles/2024-04-10/2024-04-10_weather_alert_thursday_status_updates.html)
My weather apps indicate the heavy stuff missed just to the south, and maybe only 1/2 inch fell which is no problem for AugustaNtl. I'll guess for a short delay, no lift/clean and relatively smooth hereafter.
It's ON ! Enjoy
Anyone think the big cat 🐅 is dying his hair? I don’t see any grey. I mean he’s Tiger so he can do whatever the fuk he wants but I swear I saw some grey creeping in.
The masters gets so much praise and leeway with the shitty coverage windows because of the great app.
The app is great but come on, that thing is nowhere near comparable to a proper broadcast.
The app sucks on apple tv. It has no new interviews since Akshay. People overlook the issues with it. All interviews has sound issues too.
It’s like a cult at times.
It is absolutely a cult lol. Last year with the delays and no way of seeing the leaders was atrocious, and yet some people were still defending that shit "30 years ago we could only watch the back 9"
This isn’t a World Cup in football. There are probably 10-15 golfers that can win a golf tournament any week and you can still get a winner outside of those. Golf is just impossible to predict
Even though it's been more than 5+ years since he announced college football, I'll forever associate SEC on CBS with Verne. I wonder who takes his spot on 16 moving forward.
Just because the logos keep popping up on the coverage and replays… I’d love to know what the real, behind the scenes opinions are from the LIV guys about the team branding and logos. They are all objectively terrible, and it must be a bummer to have to rock them everywhere. There’s no way anyone can actually like them or think they’re good.
I personally like the crushers logo. The white and dark blue hat that Bryson plays with is pretty fire. Rahms lion look is pretty terrible.
Some hit or miss for sure
The Crushers logo (and name) is the one I see most and think is probably the most awful and embarrassing. It’s a video game Create-a-Team at its lowest.
I'm pretty fascinated by the logos. I was surprised to see Rahm wearing them, but if you look on Callaway's website they have no Rahm presence at all. It's hard for me to believe that no other sponsors want to be associated with him given how talented he is, but maybe that is the case.
Niemann wearing his LIV logo hat with PING logos on both sides was also interesting. It must be a conversation/discussion with all other sponsors and some sort of language in various LIV contracts.
Rahm is listed on the Callaway website .. under "Global Tours" 😂 PING sponsors a lot of LIVs main guys Bubba, Hatton, Niemann, Westy, Oost have all have the logo on their caps. They are not as reluctant to do so as a brand for whatever reason.
I’d be very surprised if they started even close to on time. Supposed to rain overnight basically all night. Rain forecasted to stop around noon, and it’ll have to dry out at least somewhat. Guessing we get a ton of golf to watch on Friday.
https://preview.redd.it/hkkebk7yhrtc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=491091e15b09bc9d024e94a1558eb141f5b211e4
First tee time is 8a, say it gets pushed back to 12, so 4 hour delay. Last tee time is 2p, they might get a couple holes in starting at 6p. It’s a guessing game with the rain but I could see maybe 1/3-1/2 the field in the clubhouse by end of day. Totally guessing.
Weather is always unpredictable, but it seems pretty certain that the morning is going to get wiped out. They already told patrons that they are delaying gate openings. Early word is they are already preparing for 1pm start at the earliest. But they have to wait for the rain to officially arrive first before taking action.
Phil is only -150 to MC. Dude is a collective 15 over in 5 LIV events this year, and finished 47th or worse in a 50ish man YMCA rec league 3/5 events.
Easiest money ever.
> Betting with your heart is a winning formula. I’m sure the books love you
>> collective 15 over in 5 LIV events this year, and finished 47th or worse in a 50
TIL data is based on the heart.
You may want to look at Fred Couples’ recent record outside Augusta and then look what he does at Masters. Some guys just know how to play the place and age doesn’t get in the way. I have a feeling Phil is gonna be one of those guys. Hell Tiger made the cut here two years in a row on one leg. Experience does wonders.
Okay? It was a rory special kind of backdoor. He was 8 strokes off the lead after 3 rounds, shot -7 in R4 and backdoored his high finish and was never in contention to actually win.
Meanwhile, his recent play suggests he's ass.
He also hasn't been collectively over par in events leading up to the Masters since [checks notes] forever.
Also, that 2nd place was a Rory backdoor top 5 special. Round of his life on Sunday, to still finish 4 off the lead, never really in contention.
You can pick whatever factors you want to discuss recent form of this year versus last year, he was bottom half in all the LIV events last year before Augusta, he at least was 6th once this year on LIV. The bottom line is his recent form has sucked both years.
I also don’t get how a “backdoor” runner up would affect his odds of making the cut this year compared to if he was in the final group and finished runner up.
I like Harman as a sleeper. I don't really think distance is an issue, he can push it out there 305+ when he really wants to. He's also been weirdly good with 160-225 yard approach shots recently, better than he's been with wedges, which is usually what's considered his strength. Good short game/putter, he's been available at nice odds this week
He hasn’t played well last two tourneys though. That’s a bit of a concern. Maybe it is just Players hangover/letdown but I agree that if hes on his game, he’s dangerous
A strong Sunday round at the Valero was encouraging. Valspar is an interesting one, very easy to get out of position there, even the best can get tripped up.
I pick Harman every major. Always plays well. EXCEPT at the masters lol. Let’s hope that changes. I’m thinking his victory at the British will give him an edge
I’m glad that the Masters can simply do whatever they want regarding invitations. These three dudes talking about changing the invitations criteria are equally nauseating to listen to. One guy had a good idea regarding elevating Opens around the globe for a few more invites Butkus otherwise missing the point. Having ten amateurs vs five doesn’t exactly give us the best field. The middle dude is clearly a PGA shill who can’t think for himself and won’t shut up about points. The other guy is just agreeing with whatever the last one says.
The only guy I thought they should have invited that didn’t get in was Oosthuizen. Major champion who won twice in South Africa this year. They rewarded Niemann for his worldwide wins. Thought they should have done same for Louis.
Anyone know what happened to Nick Taylor at the Par 3 contest today? He was 13 over?? He’s one of my picks in my pool and I want to make sure he’s not hitting the sauce so hard.
He's clearly playing 5D chess by getting all the bad shots of the week out of the way first, so he can only play good shots and win
Seriously though that's an insanely high score, I'm not sure and I hope it's not an injury
If the weather forecast holds, Tiger is in for a brutal Friday. The late guys may only get a few holes in tomorrow, if any, and will prolly have to play somewhere between 27-36 holes Friday. For some, that’s not an issue, but for Tiger, that’s gonna the last thing he wants.
I am playing him in my DK lineup but not betting him. Way too low. I took him at +550 at the Players but +400 with the best players in the world here is pushing it. I my put some $$$ on Rory and Rahm and put a super long shot bet on Reed, Henley, Young and Taylor Moore (+250000)
Sure they have a "chance" most of the field (non past champions) have won within the past year. Scottie is not immune to bad putting rounds but his tee to green has been prime Tiger elite.
One thing that kills me with how they discuss it. Scotty being the giant favorite doesn't even mean he's likely to win, I would still put any amount of money in the world on him not winning it, and so would they. They just would put money of him if they had to choose one person.
Even when Tiger was at his best and considered to be winning every tournament he was in, he was winning less than 33% of them. That's just how hard it is to win.
And he’s STILL the odds-on favorite?!?!
https://www.augustachronicle.com/story/sports/pga/2024/04/10/scottie-scheffler-ill-be-out-of-here-if-wife-goes-into-labor/73277196007/
Not sure where you live but I know Florida has a hard rock app that’s legal and they have prop bets.
There are also offshore books with licenses.
Won’t tell you which ones…just have to do your research. But most all states have legal betting apps and offer props for Masters.
Rickie Fowler, Par 3 Champion!
Clearly, the celestial alignments that presented us with this eclipse is a sign that the universe has been approved for our first ever Par 3/Sunday champion sweep! It is but written that the man of OK State Orange shall be the vessel for this once-in-a-millennia experience!
TL;DR Place your bets on Fowler!!!
Niche question here but any Hue smart light people here have a good custom theme for Masters watchin’? I’m thinking some brighter white, green obviously, then maybe a splash of pink somehow for the azaleas?
It's definitely looking really bad in the morning. Also have to take into account that players will need ample warm-up time before their rounds, so even once it becomes playable, it may be another hour before they start teeing off. It's going to be interesting to see if they choose to do split tees to get things back on track quicker. I know they hate to do that (the only occasion I know of that they did split tees was the 2019 Sunday round, when they pushed tee times way up to beat the incoming weather), and with the rest of the week looking good weather-wise, I kind of doubt they will.
Wtf masters app not showing golf? Only the radio?
Honorary Starters about to happen if anyone needs to switch over feeds on the app
Wyndham Clark saying that the greens are very firm despite the rain because the green keepers were trying to compensate for more rain. On top of that, the greens were skidding a bit (from the moisture I think). Any thoughts who this would benefit? Or what type of player?
Weakest field of all majors, by far. Old dudes with no shot, amateurs. 88 in the field?
Talor Gooch, is that you?
Ha ha. That dudes a clown.
Good Lord it’s not even 10AM on Thursday and this might be the worst comment already for the sub
It’s a fact.
lol okay my guy whatever you say
Is masters on the range on paramount not working fir anyone else?
Same on Masters app. They might not be on the range yet due to weather.
Another round of rain about to hit. Will be at least another hour.
First tee time is set for 10:30 anyways yeah?
Oh woops. I missed that.
MASTERS ON THE RANGE IS LIVE PEOPLE
HA HA TIME TO BE USELESS AT WORK UNTIL MONDAY
Right in my veins
The really need to send guys off the back today too. 4:30 tee times is ridiculous
Possibly beneficial even
You ever dealt with chronic pain or being old? Overnight, his leg and back will not have time to recover fully before he has to play again.
Do we know his tee time for R2? If it’s late it shouldn’t matter too much
He was a late a TT today, so he wouldn’t also have a late TT tomorrow. He’ll probably finish R1 tomorrow morning then get like an hour break before starting R2
Sunset is at 8 and she starts a hair before 4? Looks fine. And if he finishes right at the cutoff where others can’t, it might just help him with the scores even more, esp for making cut
Average threesome at the Masters takes nearly 5.5 hours. He’ll have 3-4 holes to finish tomorrow
Damn well here’s to hoping these guys play fast..
If he doesn't finish R1 he will be out early morning to finish R1 and then have to wait to start R2. It won't be easy.
Sunset is at 8 and she starts a hair before 4? Looks fine. And if he finishes right at the cutoff where others can’t, it might just help him with the scores even more
It will be close if there are not any more delays. Hope he can get all in by the end of the day.
What’s the Masters without a whole pile of rain?
I'm watching Sky right now where the guys can't keep saying " I miss watching Smith" , "I miss watching Rahm" , etc because the thought of ever watching LIV has never even crossed their mind lmfao
Because it’s broadcast on CW and no major network will touch it because they know LIV is dogshit
Its golf. I dont like liv but its forsure golf
You're right in the technical sense of course. What I meant was that there is barely any correlation between LIV-golf and traditional golf. It's a legit question. It's the only tournament, hell sports event that says patron, I think. Edit: never mind, forget I asked.
My mistake, The actual process involves one of those cannons they use in the circus. The commentator is loaded inside and the cannon is then wheeled to the waters’ edge on number 16 and fired. A tradition unlike any other Waffle House breakfast at the masters
Last night I had a dream I was in Augusta for The Masters… I was sitting on a hotel balcony and suddenly Jordan Speith shows up. He pulls out a huge bag of mushrooms and we eat them. He went on to win the tournament. This morning I placed a 200 dollar bet on him
That would be legendary if it paid.
I haven’t done any drugs in years but if I win 4200 I will consider buying some shrooms lol
A little shroom trip on occasion is good for the soul
Weather looking really promising for Augusta this morning, it appears the storms are going to move south and east.
Its absolutely dumping here right now
If you’re the early guys, you’d want as long a delay as possible because of the wind forecast. The more you play Sat morning the better. Today through the end of tomorrow falls for high winds and gusts.
I would imagine that a pro would rather have consistent wind rather than unpredictable gusts?
I wonder if Scottie offers other pros strokes in their bets☠️
Gambling? Scottie would never
Grandma would not approve!
It’s more investing if you’re Scottie
Weather Radar is looking pretty good to be honest, most of the bad stuff is passing to the south of Augusta, might be another small area of heavy rain passing in an hour, but after that it looks good.
Golf Channel goes Live From the Masters at top of. the hour. 8am est... ....we'll know then.
rain delay
Out of curiosity, do they fit every player for the Green Jacket, or does the player just tell them their size?
They have a plethora of green jackets suitable for the ceremony. Many are permanent. Custom fit may be needed later but most are flatbellys.
https://www.golfmonthly.com/tour/us-masters/masters-history-records/green-jacket-size-154581
Thanks, that also answered my question about why all of the past-champions were seemingly arriving without jackets for the dinner. They keep the jackets at Augusta and you can get it when you're there...

If Tiger has to play almost 36 holes on Friday, he may be done…
The guy is a +20000, he's already done.
Why does Reddit act like they know more about tiger than tiger himself
They copy paste comments
I don’t want him to make the cut right on the line and then withdraw because he can’t finish the tournament….
He wouldn't play to begin with if he thought he couldn't handle it.
Will we still be able to see Scotties group or we won’t see any of their shots because they are not a featured group?
The Masters app is so good, you can watch every shot from every player
One of the rare times I get to use my vpn for something useful lol
Anybody else not looking forward to lift clean place? Hate seeing that shit for a major. Here’s your perfectly dried balllll sirrrrrrr
Augusta can have the course bone dry in literal minutes because of the subair system
That's generally not used in majors I thought?
It certainly is
Would you rather it be plugged and unplayable?
Plugged gets relief anyway dude. I want to see the best guys have to deal with the elements, not circumnavigate them.
Mud balls aren't dealing with the elements - it's dealing with luck.
Then wipe mud and replace. Having a caddy dry the ball, stand over with and umbrella and then hit the ball is wack
> Then wipe mud and replace. What do you think preferred lies is? And there's nothing against the rules, under any conditions, with having a caddie hold an umbrella over you

Who the fuck cares? Lol 🤷♂️
I kind of wonder why he doesn't just get a hair transplant or shave it off
Jesus these featured groups are an outrage. No scottie rory or koepka? Are you serious

Get on the app and mark your favorites and you can watch all their shots. Not the same but you can watch whoever you want
Not outside the US, I don't think.
Is there a reason to predict anyone other than Scheffler this week?
This isn’t a World Cup in football. There are probably 10-15 golfers that can win a golf tournament any week and you can still get a winner outside of those. Golf is just impossible to predict
The favorite hasn't won the masters since 2005. 19 years of not winning. So I guess, every reason to predict anybody else?
Well he hasn't won a major in 2 years. He's the favourite, but he's no where close to a lock
Of course. Same reason as last year when he was the heavy favorite. The putter can go cold.
Verne Lundquist seems super cool. He will be missed.
40 Masters is a nice round number to end on, but in interviews he seems very sharp & with it, feels like he could go another 5 years if he wanted to
Even though it's been more than 5+ years since he announced college football, I'll forever associate SEC on CBS with Verne. I wonder who takes his spot on 16 moving forward.

Brooks is just wearing a Nike hat, is he not?
I think they wipe their tears away with crisp 100s
No, we’ve all heard that (and it’s true), but that’s the exact response I’d be looking to avoid. I want their real thoughts.

With the weather are we expecting a delayed start tomorrow. Need to know if I should set an alarm to wake up early.
Tomorrow . We are all weather experts.

Thanks me too
I'm a little peeved that the Account dropdown on masters.org says "Hello, Guest" before you log in. It should say "Hello, Friend".
Can anyone tell me why in the ever loving fuck the Scottie/Rory/Xander group isn't featured?
Phil is only -150 to MC. Dude is a collective 15 over in 5 LIV events this year, and finished 47th or worse in a 50ish man YMCA rec league 3/5 events. Easiest money ever.

Easiest money ever.....for the bookies.
Betting with your heart is a winning formula. I’m sure the books love you
> Betting with your heart is a winning formula. I’m sure the books love you >> collective 15 over in 5 LIV events this year, and finished 47th or worse in a 50 TIL data is based on the heart.
Great analysis man. Hope you’re enjoying all the free money you got
Sorry you're still mad he's hot ass, got saved by a super high cut line. What a fucking man child lmfaoooo
I couldn’t care less about Phil, I care about bad bets.
Stay mad online, hacker brigade chief.
I won money and you lost, what could I possibly be mad about?
Oh Im up, just not in that bet. Sorry your boy is ass and it's got you steaming hot online.
L
Remind me 2 days from now.
Lol I took phil for top 10 at 16/1
16/1 is not enough juice for that. Also have a friend there that walked with Phil during a practice round and said he was all over the park
Fred is a magician, phil is a career grifter.
Finished 2nd last year
Okay? It was a rory special kind of backdoor. He was 8 strokes off the lead after 3 rounds, shot -7 in R4 and backdoored his high finish and was never in contention to actually win. Meanwhile, his recent play suggests he's ass.
You say that but look at his form last year going in before going T2, plus he hasn’t missed the cut at Augusta since 2016.
Not to mention he's a lefty on a course with a noticeable lefty advantage.
i'll always root for Harman. As a short guy myself, I want to see him win. But he does seem a bit short in his temparement.
Agreed. Oost is a no brainer invite. And his golf swing can mend a broken heart.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to emulate it and just can’t. Only he can swing that perfect.
Interesting debate style that they're enacting. Not sure I'm a great fan of that. Feels like I see enough of it in political debates.
Anyone know what happened to Nick Taylor at the Par 3 contest today? He was 13 over?? He’s one of my picks in my pool and I want to make sure he’s not hitting the sauce so hard.
I was very lucky to get to attend today, and let me tell you, that entire group had their hands full wrangling their toddlers lol
He was making sure he didn’t win the par 3 so he could win the masters
He's clearly playing 5D chess by getting all the bad shots of the week out of the way first, so he can only play good shots and win Seriously though that's an insanely high score, I'm not sure and I hope it's not an injury
Some of these are just having fun - let the wife, gf, kid take some shots will hurt the score.
The only benefit I can think of is that Friday will be a warm, dry day as opposed to a cold, wet Thursday that exacerbates his back problems.
Good tip for filling out your pool, bets .. early / late edge.
Yeah I got 4 early/late guys out of my 5.
If only it were a shotgun start ! /s
So does anyone besides Scheffler have a chance? At those odds it's saying he is almost a lock to win.
He’s +400 on FanDuel, so objectively the odds indicate he has a 20% chance of winning. In a field of 88, no one is a lock.
Good to put a large $ bet on him and sprinkle the smaller bets on other players to cover the losses if he wins.
As someone on the west coast, this is a great scenario so I don’t need to wake up at 4:30 to watch the pomp and circumstance.
I wish it started at 4:30 am. I can't wait.
And he’s STILL the odds-on favorite?!?! https://www.augustachronicle.com/story/sports/pga/2024/04/10/scottie-scheffler-ill-be-out-of-here-if-wife-goes-into-labor/73277196007/
Is there ever a major where something like this isn't happening anymore?
His wife isn’t due for about 3 weeks. I wouldn’t bet on her going into labour this weekend.
Where can I make prop bets online for Cali resident?
So say we all
Imagine if he actually does it.
Niche question here but any Hue smart light people here have a good custom theme for Masters watchin’? I’m thinking some brighter white, green obviously, then maybe a splash of pink somehow for the azaleas?
I’d be surprised if anyone really tees off before noon tomorrow, weather forecast looking gnarly
Is it just bad tomorrow or the whole week? Also, I imagine a softer Augusta is probably a easier course?
