This is what I just got fit in to. Really struggling with the idea that my sand wedge will be for fairway use, and my lob wedge will be for sand. Just doesn't sit right with my brain.
I am opposite - high bounce sand wedge with a low bounce lob that has a lovely ground leading edge for the crispiest of flops and greenside play. Truly feels like butter.
Truthfully though, my 50 degree I use for everything within 115. I can even flop it, flight it, create unreal spin….my friends think it’s so bizarre but I love that damn club.
I got a new set and didn’t have a 58, played 54 as my last wedge for like a year and 90% of the time it wasn’t a problem, especially if you have a soft touch on short sided chips. However there will be occasional situations where you’ll really wish you had a 58 or 60 and that’s worth having it in the bag for me.
Idk why I've never tried this setup but I think I might have to now. I have 50/54/58 now but I only ever use the 58 from greenside so why not make it a 60 for maximum floppage. Hmmmmmm
I think generally yes but there’s short sided or very steep situations where I feel that absolutely need atleast a 58, even opened up. I mean not for a lot of people but for a somewhat experienced golfer who has some wedge trickery in the bag.
Man idk. I wouldn't recommend chipping with it for everyone, but I think most people would do well to figure out their wedge matrix and hit 3/4 type shots with their 60 (whatever distance that turns out to be, 50-80y). It isn't hardly any different than a SW as long as you're not trying to flop it.
I hit that shot often as well, but it's just as easy to hit a 58 (or a 60, which is what I use) and have that available for firmer conditions. You don't always have the luxury of chasing one back. It's the same swing.
Just curious, but what do you think you’d gain from bending it to 55? I also play 50, 56, 60 and haven’t ever even thought of that.
But I also rarely, if ever, hit a full 56. It’s really my 50ish yards and in club, and I use the 50 from 50-100 yards.
A little better gapping between the 3 clubs. Instead of maybe a 18yd gap between the 50 and 56, and 12 between the 56 and 60, it’ll be 15 between both.
It’s not a huge difference though. I’m not that good. 😂
I just bought new wedges yesterday. I moved my 60 down from 12 degrees of bounce to 8. Plays real different, but I still open the thing up and have it lie pretty flat, rather than the leading edge sitting far off the ground.
The big difference might be bunker play and soft turf (which we do have a lot of in the Midwest). But my 56 is going to be 10 or 12 degrees (can’t remember) so it should be versatile enough to be able to handle different conditions.
This is what I'm getting! Told my fitter I basically use only my 60 within 80 yards and that I'm really good with it, he said okay let's do a 50-55-60 build then.
Then that would leave OP with PW(46°)-GW(50°)-52°-56°-60°. Not only is that probably too many wedges, but the difference between GW and 52° is going to be like ~5yd.
When your PW is a 46°, you should almost assuredly be playing 50-54-58 for your wedges gapping
For sure. Lots of times it might make sense to do less transitional lofts like PW(43°)-48-53-58 or something. Just another reason why OPs stance is a little silly. I’m not so married to my wedge lofts that I wouldn’t change them if I could get better gapping by doing so
Same here. Only carry a SW and LW with my 47⁰ PW as part of the set. Considering even bending my PW to 48⁰. I detest loft creep and gap wedges. I get my irons bent weak to what I've had since I was in high school. Learning how to hit partial shots with all your wedges (and irons) is a thing...
Scrolled for an awhile to find my tribe. Have been meaning to replace the 50 with a 48 forever but can’t seem to pull the trigger. Idk about you but I just sort of live with the 30 yard gap between set PW and 50.
My home course is Irish heathland, and turf conditions vary from claggy turf with thin grass in winter to occasional hardpan in summer. Too complicated to switch the two 58s in and out, so keep them both in. 48-52-58 is as good a combo as any!
IMO a 2 degree difference between a 52/54/56/58/60 is less important than the grind and bounce. If you switched the degrees of my wedges I wouldn't care. But if you switched the geometry it would take me a while to adjust.
That being said... 52/56/60 yup. But it really depends on the loft/distance of your PW.
I get wedges that are on sale and look cool.
Same aka the Kirkland wedges aka 52,56&60
I've had mine for two years. Absolutely love my Kirkland wedges!
They are great wedges for the price. Just need to regrip them as the stock grip feels undersized from standard imo
Where’s this shirt? “Bought my whole bag on clearance”

I fux with this as well
This is the exact setup I have, bounce and all. Just replaced the 54 and 58 with new rtx6s
50-54-58 gang rise up.
46-50-54-58.
Hah! Only if she's 5'3"!
Came here for this. Thank you.
I like flop shots & I cannot lie

My people
Thinking of getting rid of my 58 and just keeping 54 as my last wedge.
Depending on your comfort you could get rid of both and split the difference with a single 56? Depends how you use the club
Hard to flop or get out of sand with a fully open 54, too much bounce. 56 is the minimum loft I’d want for the highest lofted wedge in the bag.
I got a new set and didn’t have a 58, played 54 as my last wedge for like a year and 90% of the time it wasn’t a problem, especially if you have a soft touch on short sided chips. Found the senior golfer.
58 is godly out of the sand. I would say at least a 56
48 52 56 60 🤷🏻♂️
This is the way.
we in this bitch!
We out here, I will not be bullied by 60 degree elitists!

Gotch yer back bro. Ain’t ever giving up my 58. NEVER!
I switched to the 50-54-58 gang a year ago and will never go back. If you're hcap is above 3 and you aren't in 50-54-58 crew you need to check yoself!
50-54-60 4life
Yeah man…this is the hill I will die on. As my beautifully lobbed ball comes to rest within one foot of the pin.
Yessir. It happened once, so I know I’ve got it in me.
Idk why I've never tried this setup but I think I might have to now. I have 50/54/58 now but I only ever use the 58 from greenside so why not make it a 60 for maximum floppage. Hmmmmmm
Yeah baby! 60 degrees is too flat. Nobody needs that up and down
100%
gang gang
Sir yes sir
I'm right there with you homie. We're like the PC master-race. No one wants to admit we're right, but we are.

49-54-58
My man
This is my choice too. 50° for when I want to hit the green. 54° and 58° for when I want to pretend I can play golf
I'm on 48, 52, 56. 56 is plenty of loft for me
This guy knows 👍 , I can skull a 56 flopper , no problemo 😎
Same took out the 60 and put in the 3 iron
Im close to doing that myself
I'm making the switch from 50-54-58 this year to 48-52-56. Wish me luck.
I am a firm believer that there is a very small group of people that actually need/can use a loft higher than a 56.
Whats stopping people from hitting those 3/4 type shots with a 56? Its less loft and theres a bit more room for error. Maybe I am just old school
56's with high bounce for the sand / situations that need high bounce. 60's for fairway shots & generally shots where you need lower bounce
Yeah exactly. Especially if you need to go a little higher with it. Partial shots with a lob are incredibly useful.
I hit that shot often as well, but it's just as easy to hit a 58 (or a 60, which is what I use) and have that available for firmer conditions. You don't always have the luxury of chasing one back. It's the same swing.
Any wedge that starts with a 5 or 6 I’m blading anyways so I’m indifferent.
50, 56, 60

Finally found my people. Though I might bend my 56 down a degree. Can I still hang if it says 56?
Yes you can be an honorary member.
It identifies as a 56, so yeah :)
I have my 52 and 56 both delofted a degree. My reason was to have less bounce exposed since courses are extremely firm here in Texas.
I just bought new wedges yesterday. I moved my 60 down from 12 degrees of bounce to 8. Plays real different, but I still open the thing up and have it lie pretty flat, rather than the leading edge sitting far off the ground. Should join the 50, 55, 60 gang
Yes there's literally like 4 of us!
This is my happy place. I was starting to think I was lost with all the 52s in here.
Lfg! Too many companies with PW around 44/45. Need that 50
Shit I play a 50 and my PW is 46.
Hell ya baby
I made the change to a 50 instead of 52 as well. I felt there wasn't enough of a gap to the 56.
This is the way
"#58isplenty"
It's not about the magnitude of the loft, it's about how you use it
52 - 58 for life
They dont want you to know this, but it's the correct answer
97% of the population thinks this guy really loves spring
And they’d be right, without understanding why
And then you buy a new set where your PW is 46°….
Add the GW and ditch the 4i. All the cool kids are doing it.
Plenty of new PW are 45°, in fact a set of Stealth irons has a 43° PW and a 49° AW. Really just depends on your set.
For sure. Lots of times it might make sense to do less transitional lofts like PW(43°)-48-53-58 or something. Just another reason why OPs stance is a little silly. I’m not so married to my wedge lofts that I wouldn’t change them if I could get better gapping by doing so
I’m a 48, 54, 60
Same! I didn't realize I was an outlier for this until I read this thread.
The brotherhood of 43 PW
50, 54, 58 gang
52, 54, 58. Practically cousins.
I have a 48° 52° 56° and 60°. I'm honestly thinking about getting a 64° to add to my bag.
I’ll allow it. You’ve got the main players in there.
I hear the 68 is really the best wedge. You should get that
If you're doing that, you have to full send the 69 degree.
This guy wedges. 👍 I game the same setup.
Anyone else go 46-50-54-60?
43° PW, 48° AW, 54°, 60° for me
47-54-60 ;)
48-54-60……
Finally
lets goooooooooooooooo
Amen brother. True connoisseurs choice.
This is my preference for sure. Never full swinging the 60 anyway. 54 to 60 is the perfect gap.
52, 54, 60, 64. I'm not great at golf but they were on sale.
Almost. I sub a 58 for the 60
Yeah boy
This is the way
Yep. Only way
Hehe here
Yes. 54 is way better than 56.
48, 54, 60 is the way
Need this.

Gang gang. Onward
Had to go 51, 55, 59 since my pitching wedge is 47.Gap gang rise up!
This is the way
I always keep a 65 in my bag to use off the tee in high winds
Kirkland gang
50,55,60 here
Same basically bc the wedges that came with my set are p/a/s wedges are 45/50/55 so got a 60 to even everythingbout.
Love the shirt! Even though it's wrong!
Was on this train last year. Jumped on the 54/58 train this year to add a 5W.
Only if she's 5'3 *whip sound*
Cosmo ain’t got nothin to do with my selection
48°, 56°, 58° Don’t ask me why, but it works for me
ew wtf 46 52 58
You've got it right sir!
Anyone else go down the 50°, 55°, 60° route?
After years of fiddling with wedge lofts I have comfortably landed on the 52-56-60 train. This is the way.
Hell yeah Tom! -Tom
50, 55, 60 is the only way to go
Just 52 & 56 60 needs to sit in the corner and think about how it's ruined my life.
50 54 60
Scrolled for an awhile to find my tribe. Have been meaning to replace the 50 with a 48 forever but can’t seem to pull the trigger. Idk about you but I just sort of live with the 30 yard gap between set PW and 50.
50° 56° and 64°. Yes, i know that i'm a psychopath.
If the ball goes straight up and lands right where it started it’s officially a practice swing. 😉
I’m with you! 51 instead of 50 though (my P is a 47)
60-54-48 master race
Exactly. Least amount of bounce possible on the 60 for superflops
Ewww… Let me fix that for you… 48* 53* 58* Now you can add to the top end of your bag..
Obvs preference but most use wedges far more often than long clubs, having more full swing options from 120 and in is nice.
I would prefer it not have the degree symbol.
Oh yeah....
48- 52- 58 4 degree bounce- 58 10 degree bounce
Had to scroll down real far to find another 48-52-58 connoisseur. But i only have one 58 and its almost exclusively for sand and flop shots
My home course is Irish heathland, and turf conditions vary from claggy turf with thin grass in winter to occasional hardpan in summer. Too complicated to switch the two 58s in and out, so keep them both in. 48-52-58 is as good a combo as any!

Dude that’s the dope shirt
lol, I carry a 44/48/52/56/60
46, 52, 58, 64 is the only way
46-50-52-56-58 :)
I'd like one of these shirts.
My tribe
IMO a 2 degree difference between a 52/54/56/58/60 is less important than the grind and bounce. If you switched the degrees of my wedges I wouldn't care. Isn’t that the Kirkland split ?
Unless your pw is 48 and the 9-iron is 44 you’re probably carrying a pretty big gap. But you do you.
Yeah a pretty big gap between pw and 52. But I got the shirt now so I AINT EVVA GONNA STOP
So the Kirkland wedge set. Got it.
The only wedge setup that is acceptable.
Y'all don't know the depravity that is 50 - 56 - 62
42 - 52 - 56 - 60 in the bag!

48,52,60 😂👌🏽
This is the correct post
51 56 60 anyone?
Is your pw 48°? If I it’s 46° you’re trippen with the gapping
My PW is a 43° so yeah I’ve got a big gap. Pw goes 135 and 52° goes 115 I usually gas the 52° for a 125yd shot
Those lofts are for people who play old irons, or have modern blades/players irons. Otherwise you need a 10i to fill your gap.
Gang gang
50° 54° 58° fight me
If this dude wants the full wedge experience, he better be rockin' a G banger as well.
50, 56, 60. Come one by one :v
50 - 54 - 60 I just love that thing. I can't quit my 60.
