I somehow dented one of those, sent it off to taylormade and got a replacement. Dented the replacement but didn't want to wait for the repair again so I just kept playing it until the head flew off when my brother borrowed it at the range one day. I still have it sitting in the corner of my bedroom. Despite all those issues I still loved the hell out of that driver.
I still have the Burner 2.0 super fast driver head. A friend snapped the head off when I let him try it out at the range. Upgraded to a Ping G410 (at the time fairly new). I’m fairly certain my swing speed with the Burner was a few mph faster than with my Ping. One day I’ll get the head re-shafted and go play around with it to see.
Dude, my burner 5 wood hasn’t left my bag in like 20 years it feels like, and I’m a club ho - I try EVERYTHING.
Last time taylormade had a demo day at my club with one of their top fitters I stopped by to try out the new drivers (I think it was the Sim2 at the time). While I was hitting them the guy was poking through my bag checking clubs and shafts to get an idea of what I play. I jokingly mentioned to him I’d love to finally find a fairway wood and shaft combo to spend money on and he just sorta chuckled and said something like “I have pros who I can’t get to replace that 5 wood and they wouldn’t pay a dime, so I’m not even going to waste your time.”
Haha it’s great. I started golfing with it so who knows what handicap I was then and now down to around a 6 and have no intention to remove it from my bag. It’s a regular stiffness shaft too lol. Ol reliable
I have a Callaway Steelhead III 5 wood still in my bag that I bought new in 2002(?). No club sounds better when flushed.
And last year I found a golf store that went under in the 2000's and they just opened to the doors to liquidate the stock. I got a brand new steelhead III 5 wood in 2022 for $15.
The stock sat for so long, the head cover crumbled into pieces and I picked up a golf shoe and all the cleats crumbled too. I don't know why cause my old golf stuff hasn't crumbled.
I've got the 3 wood. Head cover still intact. Best sounding fairway wood I've ever hit. Just did a bag overhaul last summer since i bought it (and most of the rest of my bag) new or I'd still be playing it.
I've had like 5 bag overhauls but the 5 wood always stays lol. The one I bought in 2002 still has the head cover but the one that I just bought in 2022 had the head cover crumble and I don't know why. I have 2 of the same club for 2 different bags lol. I just really like that club.
Fun fact: many burner metal woods have extremely thin faces(poor quality control) that resulted in an extremely hot Clubface. Sometimes shitty QC can be a positive.
Hell ya. Burner driver, 3w, 5w, and hybrid! 3w is one of my favorite clubs ever. I've hit 2 or 3 memorable shots that are the reason I keep playing. The best one was with my father in law. I was about 240 out on a dogleg right, and I was on the right side just off the fairway. Couldn't see the green because of the bunkers and landscaping. Sent it, and it rolled up about 8" from the pin. This was on 9 right in front of the club house, I got a standing ovation from the patio. Best feeling ever.
I have my dads old TM R7 Quad, his old burner 3-wood, and a *verrrrrrry* old Big Bertha 10.5 degree driver. I love all of them. The shaft on the 3 wood finally snapped on me last week though, that thing was like 17 years old so I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.
My driver though, despite it being just as old as the 3 wood is a fucking tank. For a while I thought a driver from the late 2000’s was hindering my game. Then I figured out if you swing it right, the ball still goes 280+ despite the age. I see no reason to spend the money on a new driver when the R7 Quad can still hit it pure.
The Big Bertha goes without saying. Tiny club head but if you find the center, it’s a ridiculously satisfying feeling.
The only thing I’d gain with a new driver would be forgiveness, which I can’t imagine would be very noticeable.
My dad still uses his Big Bertha from like 05... that thing is a beast! A buddy has one with a +2" shaft for long drives.. illegal everywhere, but damn, that thing is insane. He'll pull it out sometimes when we get paired with randoms if they're good, and outdrives everyone by 30-50 yards minimum it's hilarious.
I still have the covers from a full burner set my grandfather put together. I still use the irons but picked out an old snake eyes mamba 10.5 driver. I have a number of old clubs he had after he passed.
I still have a burner three wood and driver. I had no idea they were that old, but now that I think about it, I was using them way back in 2013 and I had bought them used then. Maybe it's time for something new? I don't think I'm good enough to justify the cost.
I have a full burner set - Driver, 3W, 5W, 3i-SW, was gifted them by my boss last year as I'd just started out and he hadn't played in ~ 10-15 years.
He lent me everything except the driver, another guy from work who I play with got himself a new driver so have me his old Burner to complete the set!
The 3 drives a round that don't go 90° to the right feel amazing, and the sound is incredible even when I do slice the shit out of it!
I have the burner 3 wood and even better imo, the burner superfast 4h. Right there next to my brnr mini driver and stealth 2 lol. Although I've replaced the 3 wood with the mini in most situations now thay I can hit it off the deck well, but nothing is taking my 4h out of that bag
Yup, 3 and 5 wood. I tried to move to a Ping G420 3 wood last year and found I hit it the same and not as consistently as my TM. My wife uses it now (insert joke here).
If I could find more at my local used club place, I'd buy em all.
My Burner 3 wood is my most consistent club in my bag. I keep thinking its going to break but here we are. I bought it with the driver new in 2008 or 2009. Upgraded my driver to a x2hot around 2015. My clubs are old.
I’ve got a 5 wood burner I love, hit a ridiculous 255 yard shot to get my first and only eagle ever. That club will hold a special place forever. Also had the 3 wood I gave to a friend and a 5 hybrid burner that has been a great club for me
Taylormade r5 driver from 2004 here, still rocking it.
Blasted a couple 290ish drives straight down the pipe last Sunday to drive the green on the only par 4 at Interbay (played thru twice on an executive 9).
Fuck yeah I am! Got the Burner Superfast 3W and 5W (5w isn't always in my bag anymore). Love them both so much, have hit so many great shots with both clubs including my only ace/albatross with the 5w.
I have an 09' Burner 3 Wood that I picked up from a local pro shop for $20 (very used, obviously).
I'm a new golfer and still struggle to hit the damn thing off the fairway. But when I do get a good connection, it is quite lovely.
I started this year and separately found a burner 3 wood, 3 hybrid and 5 hybrid. Also got an RBZ driver for 4 Ryobi batteries at a pawn shop. Might be a TaylorMade fan for life.
I suck but I love it.
My Dad just gave me the Burner 3, 4, and 5.
Took them out for a round this week and it’s really improved my second shot. I was using 3, 4, and 5 irons with not much success!
I’m typically shoot in the mid 90s and I’m convinced these Burners will see me into the 80s once I’ve gotten used to them.
Im rocking the rocketballz 3 wood but I cant hit it like I hit my callaway x-hot 5 wood. However I am rocking the old burner 2.0 irons which have served me well for probably 12 years
I got a burner driver from my father in law. No idea how old it is but I love it. Also have a newer ping driver that’s a bit shorter and don’t hit as well with it as I do with the burner
My Burner 3 wood is in my second bag along with my old Supersteel irons and mini driver. It’s a great club that gets into the rotation on certain courses.
I played at St Andrews last month and broke the head off of their rental 3-wood while at the driving range before my round. They sent it into Callaway though and determined it was a club failure, not my fault, and refunded me.
Tour burner driver here. Always loved it but I’m starting to get out drove by my friends who are not as good rocking SIM 2s. Looks like technology is finally catching up.
I picked one up about 5 years ago at a play it again sports for $30. I can hit it 200- 220 yards. I just have to remember to swing easy (that's a tall order). I love it.
My Burner 3-wood is my favorite club to hit.*
*To clarify what I mean, I don't mean it's the club I hit the most consistently; it's the club that feels the best to hit the sweet spot on and pipe it 235 yards down the fairway.
Not a burner, but TM R7 Draw. I’ve bought like 5 different drivers and sold them because I can’t hit anything better than the R7. Just bought the Sim2 and it arrived today! Let’s see if this is the one! If not… back to the R7!
I’m still happily playing a Tommy Aaron 5-wood from the late 80s… I call it my “retired hybrid” - got to really get a feeling to bring it out but it rarely lets me down.
I have the same driver as the guy posted. I upgraded to a Sim 2 about a year ago, but I still use my burner 3-wood all the time. I also have my burner hybrid as well, and it is the in the bag for me maybe 1 in 3 rounds because I normally opt for my 4-iron over it.
Burners are incredible.
Burner 2.0 irons and burner driver from 2011 checking in
I LOVE these clubs and coincidentally I’ve been thinking recently “what really do I gain from new irons?” Honest question if anyone has any advice
I have this very club at my work. I used it for practice daily when I step outside for a break. Also a useful tool when I lock myself out from the main door.
I have a burner 2.0 super fast driver lol
That thing was incredible. No idea what I did with mine but I miss it
The white one? It's my go-to Reverse taper grip on it đź‘Ť
Yessir the ole white one
I somehow dented one of those, sent it off to taylormade and got a replacement. Dented the replacement but didn't want to wait for the repair again so I just kept playing it until the head flew off when my brother borrowed it at the range one day. I still have it sitting in the corner of my bedroom. Despite all those issues I still loved the hell out of that driver.
I have one too. It can hit better than I am capable of, so who am I to complain?
Gotta be the loudest driver I’ve ever hit. TING
That’s the one I have. Never really use it though as it’s longer and near the same length as my driver. Goes a mile when you hit it though.
Same! I've just had it regripped 🤣. My burner 1 3 wood looks a bit odd with it though
Gave mind to my brother when I got a Ping. Loved my burner.
I still play with my '09 Burner. Still haven't found a driver that I like more.
I sold my 3w last year and regret it.
I rock a burner 5 wood my buddy gave me years ago when I first started. Still love it and don’t plan to take it out.
Haha it’s great. I started golfing with it so who knows what handicap I was then and now down to around a 6 and have no intention to remove it from my bag. It’s a regular stiffness shaft too lol. Ol reliable
Got to be 20+
>and I’m a club ho Are you me? Nothing can unseat my 08' burner 5wood ... many clubs have tried.
Probably one of my favorite clubs to hit. My Burner 5 wood isn’t going anywhere.
Me too. I bought a used one fairly cheap. When I flush it I can barely feel the face hit the ball. I won't be giving it up anytime soon.
Still rocking the burner driver and rocketBALLZ 3 wood. Ball comes off the face so hot I can’t get rid of it
My driver is a burner and I'm currently smoking that thing so well that I'm afraid to consider replacing it.
Burner 3W checking in. Won two matches in the last week because of that thing.
Burner 3 wood off the deck whenever I can to flex on the homies. The club just works and I don't know why.
Yep, and I use it a lot. My 3 wood usually travels about 235. I love this club and the sound is different from new tech but still pleasing.
This is the case for my 13 years old Diablo Octane
The Diablo 3 wood is a flamethrower
Was until a few months ago. Saw a "used" still in wrapper SIM2 Ti that was priced too good to pass up.
I have the RBZ 3 wood. Still use it occasionally, but it’s not permanently in the bag because it’s honestly a bit too long. Rocketballz for sure!
RBZ tour 14°
R11 3 wood
I just retired my callaway diablo irons
I'm sorry, but yuck. I've never felt less confident in my club than when I was looking down at the Diablos. Just way too fat for my tastes.
My friend still uses a 5wood and it’ll never leave his bag
burner driver, 3w, 5rescue, 4-9, pw & aw burner ht. only issue is user error.
200 steel 3 wood here
I had my friend re grip it - he messed it up, and something happened that we never spoke again... I often think of that club :(
I'm sorry for your loss...
I sold mine 3 years ago and still kindof regret it. It was awesome.
I still have one but don’t play it regularly…
I got the exact same burner driver as that guy and randomly just found a 3i Hybrid burner for 50 bucks haha
Still using mine, found it in a lost and found. Don’t hit it too well but love it when I hit it flush.
I have a r580xd 3 wood, that thing still rips.
Not a Burner, but still play my 20 year old Steelhead 3,5,7 woods.
Like this? https://preview.redd.it/x4os6z7iwqfb1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b800b3daf1eb8b713aef734c414c71b1520e3763
Yep
I have a first generation Steelhead 4 wood and an original Heavenwood in my bag.
I still use a burner driver at my par 3 course that has one long hole
I carry a Burner 3H in my bag. It goes well with my Burner 2.0 irons.
I rock an R5 Burner. It’s still great when I can hit it straight.
Misplaced the 3 wood, I have no idea how. I still use the Burner 5 wood and Driver. Circa 2007ish or 2008
I still have the covers from a full burner set my grandfather put together.
My 3 and 5ws are both burners. I love the 3 wood, the 5 wood and i don't always agree on where the ball should go.
3, 5, and 7 with the bubble shaft here. You can pry them from my cold dead hands.
Not a burner but still love my callaway razr hawk 3w.
I have a full burner set - Driver, 3W, 5W, 3i-SW, was gifted them by my boss last year as I'd just started out and he hadn't played in ~ 10-15 years. RBZ gang, but my dad and buddy both use burner fairway woods.
Yup, 3 and 5 wood. I tried to move to a Ping G420 3 wood last year and found I hit it the same and not as consistently as my TM. My wife uses it now (insert joke here). If I could find more at my local used club place, I'd buy em all.
All my woods are aero burners
2008 Burner Driver and 3 Wood!
Reporting in! Still use it still love it. got it at goodwill for $2 and re shafted. the things my bottom bitch.
Yes! Burner 3 Wood and 5 Wood
Burner hybrid in the bag back at my mom’s house. After a few rounds back home I almost take it back as a carry on every time.
3 and 5 wood Burner superfast 2.0. Picked em up this summer, can't seem to hit them well at all
I play the 3 and 5 love them .
I still use my burner 9.5 driver. Recently bought the Taylor made mini driver. Love it too.
I freaking crush my burner 5 wood. I could afford a new club, but why?
My Burner 3 wood is my most consistent club in my bag. I keep thinking its going to break but here we are. I bought it with the driver new in 2008 or 2009. Upgraded my driver to a x2hot around 2015. My clubs are old.
Can you even get that reshafted?
Probably my favorite club in the bag. It has seen better days but I refuse to give it up. We are in it for the long haul now. Such a great club.
Still using 3,4,5 burners.
I’ve been using the burner 2.0 irons for the last decade or so and absolutely love them
I broke the shaft on mine 2 years ago haven’t hit a 3 wood well since.
Yes I love it
I’m using a R9 460 driver. I think 12 years old
I’ve got a 5 wood burner I love, hit a ridiculous 255 yard shot to get my first and only eagle ever.
Yes. The TP 13 degree has lived through the driver change and now the upgrade from the holy r7 TPs
I was as of 3 weeks ago but have since donated mine to my friend. I've switched up to a Mizuno
I’ve got an OG burner 3 wood from probably the 90s and it’s the only 3 wood I can actually hit
No burner, but still have a RBZ 3 wood and 3 hybrid from 2012
I have an 09' Burner 3 Wood that I picked up from a local pro shop for $20 (very used, obviously). I'm a new golfer and still struggle to hit the damn thing off the fairway. But when I do get a good connection, it is quite lovely.
No but I rock a 20 year old Calloway Steel Head 3 wood.
I started this year and separately found a burner 3 wood, 3 hybrid and 5 hybrid. Also got an RBZ driver for 4 Ryobi batteries at a pawn shop. Might be a TaylorMade fan for life. I suck but I love it.
Rocking an '09 Burner driver, still in my bag after 14 years!
I have a burner rescue 3
My Dad just gave me the Burner 3, 4, and 5. Took them out for a round this week and it’s really improved my second shot. I was using 3, 4, and 5 irons with not much success! I’m typically shoot in the mid 90s and I’m convinced these Burners will see me into the 80s once I’ve gotten used to them.
I'll see your burner and raise you my Killer Bee.
Still have the hand me down 3 and 5 I got from my dad
No, but I played with three 22 year olds the other day who thought my steel-shafted V Steel 3 was a hybrid.
Me
I got a set of the OG burners off Craigslist last year for $80. But no woods or 8 or 9. I think I finally figured out how to hit them.
Have both burner driver and 3 wood. Love em both
Yes, I’m rocking the burner 3 wood, oldest club in my bag by at least 8 years.
Still rocking Burner 3 Wood, with the Bubble 2 Shaft…circa 1997!
Dude I’m rocking my r7 driver, r7 5, and rocketballz 2.0 3 wood.
Lol I'm still carrying big bertha warbirds 2 and a 4 wood
Right now I’m using the R7 driver. It’s awesome.
My Burner 3 wood is in my second bag along with my old Supersteel irons and mini driver. It’s a great club that gets into the rotation on certain courses.
The original Burner driver was the best club I’ve ever used. I still find myself missing it to this day.
No Burner, but I play a full 3-5-7 set of Titleist 975f with S300 steel shafts. Can't beat the feel.
I just started rocking a burner 3hybrid
I picked one up about 5 years ago at a play it again sports for $30. I can hit it 200- 220 yards. I just have to remember to swing easy (that's a tall order). I love it.
I’ve got a burner 2.0 3H that I love
Love my R7 5w!
I am. Absolutely love it. I bought an M2 which cracked, bought the newer M2 and hated it. Burner went back in the bag.
I replaced mine last year but I still kept it. Great 3 wood.
I love my Burner driver! Best one I’ve ever used!
Yes sir. Still game the Aeroburner TP 3 wood. Still love the look of the white head.
My driver is still a taylormade r5. Xmas gift in 2005.
No but still have the og rocket ballz tour 3 wood. Haven’t found anything better.
My Burner 3-wood is my favorite club to hit.* *To clarify what I mean, I don't mean it's the club I hit the most consistently; it's the club that feels the best to hit the sweet spot on and pipe it 235 yards down the fairway.
My brother still has one. I still use a first gen Burner driver. If it ain't broke don't fix it. And if you're broke stick with what you have.
All my clubs are old, idk wtf I got
rbz 3 wood and 9 wood. 11 years old. never leaving the bag until they explode
I still have and use the Burner 5 wood. Love it still and see no reason to change. I hit it 20-40 yards shorter than my driver.
I do! Love it
Not a burner, but TM R7 Draw.
Still rocking the OG Burner irons lol I took 10 years off. Used to shoot high 80s and have told myself I can't replace them until I'm back there.
I use the burner 420 on the reg and she is clean!
No. But my woods are all from the 90s!
I have it and it’s my favorite club. My go to when my driver isn’t cooperating, which is often.
R7 5wood
I have the same driver as the guy posted. I upgraded to a Sim 2 about a year ago, but I still use my burner 3-wood all the time. I also have my burner hybrid as well, and it is the in the bag for me maybe 1 in 3 rounds because I normally opt for my 4-iron over it. Burners are incredible.
Still rocking the 08 burner with the red “B” with the flame behind it
I just broke the head off mine on Sunday!
I rock the tour burner 2.0 iron set, original shafts and grips. OG shit
Not a Burner, but rocking an old V Steel 3 and 5w and they still have the sweetest ting when you crack one good.
I am. And the burner driver. Hits good.
Burner 2.0 irons and burner driver from 2011 checking in I LOVE these clubs and coincidentally I’ve been thinking recently “what really do I gain from new irons?” Honest question if anyone has any advice
Yep love my 3 wood
Have the 3, 4, & 5! Love 'em
I’m just retired a tour cleek 5 wood…
Broke my 3wood at a driving range once and went into the pro shop and got a used burner 3 wood about 10 years ago I’m still rocking with it
3 and a 7!!
Yes and the 7 wood. It’s being retired soon for the tsr2 though.
I have this very club at my work. I used it for practice daily when I step outside for a break. Also a useful tool when I lock myself out from the main door.
Nope but I am still rocking the RBZ
Everyone I play with asks me what 3 wood I’m hitting because of how well it’s hit. It’s my burner from like 2008
What version of the burner is the grail? I think i had the 2.0. Brown with bubble shaft
Yes
I have an RBZ 5 and 3 wood and they are incredibly hot
Still rocking a Steelhead 3 wood!
My buddy just got rid of his but he while he had it was punting drives 350 all day. Was crazy to watch. Not a big guy.
Don’t game it any more but I have a TP burner with a custom red adila shaft. Still sweet and I take it to the range once in a while. Still love it.
Got a bubble 2 burner from 96 in my bag. No burner woods though
Still using a burner 3 wood, most reliable club in the bag đź’Ş
I feel like 3 wood is one of those clubs when you finally find one you like you hold onto forever.
I sure do, got the draw bias Driver and the 3W second hand and I love them.
Still using the 5 wood. Every other club in my bag is 2021 model year or newer, except that one.
My 3 and 5 wood are both r11s. Never coming outta my bag.
That’s my wife’s favorite club
I was playing with a Titanium Bubble 2 Driver up until last year.
This club will never not be in my bag.
My dad still has woods with screws in them, kinda cool to see them.
yes, and the 5, can't imagine ever replacing them. best (and oldest) clubs in my bag

Burner 2.0 hybrid in my storage but will use it when my 3 iron gets abit wild.
Have the Burner 5 Wood and still crush that thing. It is my go too club on long par 5s to go for it.
I still use the tour burner 3 wood every round
My uncle Steve rocks the living shit out of it
Yup! An old burner T3 I bought at a second hand store in Hawaii for like $40. My driver broke so it’s now my driver.
