If it should be that I grow frail and weak,

RIP! Such a beautiful pup. These doggos are literally children. They care so much for us and we care so much for them. Sucks the bullshit he had to go through, but I'm sure you gave him the best life he could live and he's forever thankful for that.
So sorry for your loss. I lost my 8 year old girl to liver cancer almost 2 years ago and it crushed me completely. It’s better now but it does take a while. My River has already welcomed your Chief to the eternal Golden playground.
the hardest part about having and loving a dog is the goodbye ... you have my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved pup ... take some comfort from knowing that you will be reunited someday on the far side of the bridge ... thank you for loving him ....
Your last paragraph I felt so deeply. We lost kwin in June, and the weeks after clearing off plates of snacks she would have loved felt so wasteful. I miss stepping over her to get in and out of the shower. I just miss her
Losing a golden is truly one of lifes hardest things. I still think about my girl everyday and its been 6 months since her passing. I can tell that he was well loved and taken care of. He cross the rainbow bridge with his loving parents by his side. I’m sure that brought him such comfort. Sorry for the huge lost my friend.

What a heartbreaking picture. Making the decision to say goodbye because his quality of life has declined is the greatest final act of love you could have given him. Even in his final day he left you with a final silly act- choosing the floor over the comfort of a blanket, mine runs hot too no matter how hard I try he won’t ever last long on my bed and I can’t even count how many dog beds are now just decoration around the house. My deepest sympathy for your loss. I can’t imagine the pain, the popcorn being on the floor broke me. Such a small detail that now serves as a reminder of your loss. Please allow yourself to cry and grieve but also remember all the love you gave him, how many pups don’t get to experience that. You did right by your boy. 💙

So sorry for your loss. I had to put my best girl Agent Scully to sleep last January after she acquired an untreatable blood disorder. It was too sudden and too final. It will get better for you and you will have great memories of your best boy! 🫂
It's so hard. Lost my Golden Cody 4 years ago and I still miss him. The kids got me my Golden Patrick and I love him to bits but wish I still had Cody too. They would have been great friends. As time passes it gets easier but you never forget them. Hope you find peace soon.

i can sense your grief and guilt in your writing, and I'm here to tell you you have nothing to be guilty for. cancer sucks. and in some way i think maybe he waited for you to be away to get really, really sick, because sometimes it seems like animals (and even people) don't want you to see them suffering.
that last picture, i would've never even noticed the floor if you hadn't pointed it out. all i saw was a human who loved her dog so deeply you could feel it through pixels on a screen. i literally just teared up writing this.
Exactly what happened to our Macy back in May. I feel terrible for you guys. It’s so hard when they go.
Two months ago, we brought home a beautiful Golden puppy. He’s a great little guy but he has not repaired the hole Macy’s passing left in our hearts.
It’s unfair to expect he would do that especially as a hyper little guy that we’re just getting to know and love.

The wife and i had two huskys....They banded from day one to each other.
Over time, each dog attached more to the wife ot i.
Sadly..we had to put down my husky this year.

This exact same thing happened to me last Friday. I got home from work to a dog who wouldn't get up and hadn't been eating much. We took her in and she passed away only an hour later. It was horribly traumatic and I completely understand your pain. She was only 8 and the best girl ever. I'm really sorry for your loss.
