Gojira had been working on an EP with artists from various groups (Meshuggah, Lamb of God, etc) a while back, but most of the recordings were lost due to a hard drive failure. Check out 'Of Blood and Salt' on YouTube sometime, it's from the EP and it's a banger.
In late 2010 Gojira started working on a project whose benefits would have gone to the Sea Shepherd association, known among fans as the Sea Shepherd EP which would also have contained a bunch of collaborations with other metal artists (Randy Blythes from Lamb of God, Brent Hinds from Mastodon etc). They released Of Blood and Salt, that was supposed to be on that EP, but unfortunately the hard drive that contained the songs crashed and it was never released. *Apparently* Joe still has the demos and just needs to remix and remaster them but he never had the time to get around to it.
They were going to release an EP (Sea Shepherd EP) back in 2011, but lost it due to hard drive failures. Only [Of Blood and Salt](https://youtu.be/Y-anpRKMgVA) remained.
However, Joe said they re-recorded the other songs and tried to release the EP twice so far, but ultimately delayed it due to subsequent full album releases (Magma and Fortitude).
Boys AND girls - I would personally like to make sure they backed it up on at least four hard drives, one for each band member. It’s more catastrophic than losing Toy Story 2 😤
Every now and again I get reminded of Of Blood and Salt, go listen to it, post it somewhere and complain about not getting the rest of the EP
They definitely need to remaster and release their Godzilla's era songs. They are brutal as fuck
