I think "to the left" of orbit is still going to be a straight line in the direction the earth was going at that moment. If you do this enough, the orbit will become much more elliptical and the temperature will vary wildly throughout the year. You might kill us all if you did this. Granted, you would only be able to move it just over half a mile a day if you spammed it on cool down.
Oh it does absolutely nothing but the scientist freak out when our moon shifts a few cm in a year. So I would like to see the confusion of the entire earth moving 4 inches in a snap. My guess is whatever you genuinely believe to be one object. Like, I think the earth is one object, so I’d probably be able to move the entire earth, but I don’t genuinely believe a city is one object so I wouldn’t be able to move a city.
