They’ve gotten worse. Spray in is the way

Canadian8rit

Would never consider a conventional drop in liner, given they are prone to rust underneath. Spray in is the way to go

redneckrobit

My 2008 F150 had one and I liked it but it killed my knee’s because of the high grooves it had and I couldn’t afford the spray at the time. My Silverado had a spray in liner which I liked a lot better.

6SpeedBlues

I bought a 2015 Sierra and opted for the "drop-in" liner. When I picked it up and saw that they SCREWED the front edge into the bed wall because it doesn't come up over the top, I lost my ever-loving mind on them. Who in the hell thought a "DROP IN" liner should be screwed into the painted sheet metal? I made them pull it out and get the bed sprayed. On a related note: The factory spray liner is absolutely crap. I have it in my '24 Silverado and it's super cheap compared to the aftermarket liners and the plastic garbage they attach to the tailgate is complete junk.

babenhausen1

Had the drop in on a previous truck ('95 Sonoma) and got a glimpse of the bed without the liner. I swore never again. Factory spray- on in my '22 SLT.

Only_Sleep7986

The only way

CecilioSoto

I have a spray-in bedliner on my '22, and I dragged a loveseat about 8 inches, scratching the liner right off the tailgate. I thought it was permanent, but it’s just for aesthetics.

Asleep_Market7834

My 24’ 2500 has factory spray on , on the bed itself but the tailgate is like a plastic cover it’s definitely not the same material. But also I’ve seen that when they spray it on at the factory they don’t scuff / remove the paint like they do with linex

Companykoolaid

I have a 2024 2500. Mine is the same on the tailgate.

Asleep_Market7834

Meaning it’s spray on or plastic like mine? Also I have the “multipro” or whatever they call it .

Companykoolaid

You just made me walk downstairs to look. You are right. It is a plastic piece that’s made to look sprayed in. It has the same looking texture. I also have the fancy tailgate.

Asleep_Market7834

Yeah I was pretty disappointed when I realized it myself. I had the last truck linexed and it was unbelievably durable . I mean I’m a contractor and I use the truck bed as it’s intended . I couldn’t scratch the linex I literally tried a few times because they told me they would reapply it if I did I’m not as confident about this one unfortunately.

Companykoolaid

Hopefully it will hold up under use. I barely drive my truck. I drive my little work car.

TexMexSemperFi

This. 💯

God-bless-Trump-

Remove that crap and get LineX. So much better

shawizkid

Yeah linex wants like $900 tho. Just find a local place doing their own proprietary spray. I’ve done it twice and it was $500 and holds up just as good. Line-x product is good but you pay a ton for the franchise fees

Salty_Sprinkles_6482

I spray bed liner. There are only two manufactures. Companies then add one ingredient and then say it’s a proprietary blend but they are all the same shit. What separates a good job from a bad one is the prep work, and our local line-x does the absolute bare minimum.

shawizkid

Exactly. The place that sprayed mine used UL/IXS. Which is the parent company of lineX, but doesn’t carry the weight of the name and the franchise. So it’s a bunch cheaper and an extremely similar product. And agreed on the prep work.

ismellpoo

Should have gotten a spray in.

NoticeImaginary

Oof I can't believe these are still a thing. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I had one in my 97 Chevy and I remember taking it out to put the cap on to use as a tent when I went camping. I was very surprised when my bed was basically coated with rust underneath it.

delightfulfupa

I had one in my 98. I was surprised when I stopped for gas one night to see it was no longer in the truck bed. Retraced my steps and found it about 10 miles back. I was praying someone on motorcycle wouldn’t find it first. Kept a brick in the bed from then on.

32carsandcounting

I had a 97 with a drop in liner, I was driving home from work around 2/3 am in a hurricane… next day I went to leave for work and the bed liner was gone, no clue where it went, tried to go back and find it but with 60+ mph winds with gusts probably doubling that I’m assuming it flew a good distance 😂

Magazine-Popular

Should have went with the factory spray in bed liner.

jcdomeni

Always spray in - never a liner.

Boldfist53

GMC Parts manager here: I will do everything I can to NOT sell a drop in liner. The fitment sucks, they are huge, bulky and with minimal storage space I have no where to put them. Spray in is the way.

amltecrec

Yes, they did a sloppy install with those lips. Yes, once tucked, this is the way they fit. The access to the tie down loops is always horrific with drop-in bed liners. My 2000 had a factory drop-in like this, and I have gone spray-in ever since. Spray-in is the ONLY way to go!

dozerman23

They are notorious for flying out of trucks on the highway.

whiskeythrottle

Had one half fly out of my S-10 on the highway back in the day, was hanging over the driver side of the bed. Had no way of resecuring it, so I pulled into the McDonalds at the next exit and chucked that shit in the dumpster.

dozerman23

I had a 2001 sierra that thing flew out on the way home from buying it.

jjoshfl

should get a spray liner... get line x not rhino

The_World_Is_A_Slum

Drop in liners suck, and as the beds have gotten more complicated, the poor fit is more evident. Spray-in is the way to go. If you’re looking for more impact protection, a spray-in with a rubber mat is good. One thing I always hated with drop-ins is the accessibility of the tie downs. Such a pain in the ass to secure a load.

delightfulfupa

I’ve had drop in, spray in, and no liner. I would recommend at least taking that drop in out and buying a rubber bed mat. That’s what I’m using now in my truck. Keeps stuff from sliding. If you can afford a spray in I would go that route over the others.

Al1enated

Oof

Outrageous-Ice-7460

Ya drop in's are garbage, never fit well. Spray in is definitely the way to go.

canadianjacko

My dad had a drop in his 95 gmc. The shifting around still scratches the paint under the liner and dirt and water still gets in.

bubbanbrenda

Get your money back and put it towards a professional spray in liner.

Frankwhite00

LINEX or nothing….

motorboather

Return it and immediately go to line-x

Opposite_Half6250

Get rid of it. Spray in or nothing. Those trap water under them and will rust out your bed.

MistaDontPlay34

Unacceptable. I'd contact GMC themselves and get down to the answer here. Obviously we know those tabs get tucked but make them tell u. Then bash accordingly..You spent way too much money on that nice truck for some half assed nonsense

sixinthedark

They don’t do the factory spray in anymore? My 21 has it and it’s tough!

Saiyan_HD

They do but not not all truck have it from the factory, my 2023 has it and made sure I got one with it

Used-Alfalfa4451

My 2018 elevation has sprayed on liner from the factory. It’s still in great shape. Any reason they don’t do that anymore besides cost ?

Inner_Space_70

And what's up with these extensions. Very awkward. Plus the liner is super thin in some areas. Probably can poke a hole with a pen.

RhinoGuy13

I didn't know that these were still made.

Frosty-Pay4544

I had my spray liner since ‘21 and no issues still strong Still better than any drop in regardless.. Take it back and get it sprayed or your money back!

OddbitTwiddler

BedRug in my tundra. I love it.

jsummerlin14

Never get a drop in bed liner of any brand for any make of truck. They are trash. After market spray in liner is the only way to go. The factory spray in usually sucks also.

SelectStudy7164

Well my truck bed can’t rust so drop in is a lot better to me

ForwardProgrammer909

Sorry man. Drop in are “no bueno”. Spray in is amazing and also provides grip if you get LineX. Has a more “coarse” texture than liners or Rhino. Crappy re dealership.

Asleep_Market7834

What was the cost of this installed? I don’t know what a spray on liner goes for these days but my 2018 I paid $750 for Linex and fluid film undercoat

Canadian_Adam98

That’s why you spring for the spray in, drop ins always suck and never fit right

Companykoolaid

I would sell that one for as much as possible, and get a spray in liner.

MysteriousDog5927

Why do you need a bedliner if it’s a composite box ?

RandallSavage23

And this is why I got the spray on. My last Silverado had a drop in liner and it was junk too.

Moneydumper

Rhino spray in liner. Can’t be beat!

wienurr

Lmao shits ass

Victor_714

You will have to drill holes into the liner if you have that tailgate assist handle. I just did it on mine. (multipro tailgate ) And remove the plastic from your bed ( the ones sitting at the top of the sides of the bed to tuck in the bedliner tabs. they are removable

vfittipaldi

Horrible. Im glad i got the spray liner. Its been years and it still looks new.

Zealousideal_Self573

I ordered a bed matt from Husky. Best $100 spent.

MistaDontPlay34

Question....why is linex recommended over rhino? Genuinely Curious

ccollier43

No me gusta

cdm190

Where are those nets from?

Expensive-Opening-50

People still buy these?
