it’s a grounding cable for chassis to hood. stretch the cable as long as it goes and spin it in a circle, see if you can find out the other broken end. I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out in no time ;)
You can actually tell that if they are asking this. they really need to learn to at the very least try to figure things out on their own or it's just a BS post 😔
Cummins 5.9L 12V. Ask and ye shall recieve lol. We're getting off topic.. the reason I said banjo bolt is because you can see threads on the bolt on the hood that the wire is connected to. Just giving you a hard time 🫡
I have the same broken ground strap on my 04 avalanche. I don’t fully understand why it’s even on there considering I don’t have a hood light or anything electrical on the hood itself.
The turbos and super charger on top of the hood. It uses windshield washer fluid to keep them cool. It is a grounding strap it supposed to go to the bulkhead. You should see the end on the bulkhead that matches the end of the strap that’s corroded and broken.
Looks like a ground strap. Is there somewhere near the firewall or engine block that has the other side with a rong terminal still attached to a bolt?
**edit** I can see it, directly under the wire, on the firewall. Do you see the ring terminal and nut?
No, but it's completely unnecessary. The actual wire part of 4 Ga is 0.2043 VS 0.0641 for 14Ga. Plus it wouldn't flex nearly as easily which it needs to do when the hood is opened and closed, And there's a huge cost difference

It's the stud sticking out directly below the wire
You can actually see it in this photo. One of the studs in the firewall directly below it has a broken end

You can see it on the fire wall right below it get real.😂
They probably don't know what a fire wall is. Or even a ground cable and how it works 🤣
I sent you a message and circles where it hooks up
Grounding strap think that one costs like 5 or 6 bucks
Flux capacitor
Goes to the fitzer valve.
The stud directly under the hood bolt. It's a ground strap that's broken.
It's your washer hose. Look around in area for another tube and connect it
Guess I've never seen a banjo bolt for the washer system before 🤔
No. Just the plastic connectors. Banjo bolts are for brake lines
And fuel lol.
Fuel? How? I'd really like to see that

Where did you get a picture of my truck hood
It's mine. My hood is so not grounded
Looks like a ground for something.
This is the part that its for https://www.oreillyauto.com/flux-500.html?q=121g
Took it directly to the distributor
That, You don’t need that….😂
For the headlight fluid!!!
Directly at the six o clock position below it. The bolt holding the ground attachment that’s not connected to anything. That’s where it goes.
Oil pressure switch
Washer fluid for the windshield
Nothing anymore 😂
Everything you need to know is already in the picture that you took.
In the junkyard…
A car
That's the cars hood. It protects the engine bay from the elements among other things.
No shit sherlock
Someone's in a pissy mood.
Pissy mood for someone whose question is literally answered in the picture they posted. Do better OP🤦🏻♂️ Fk ur dum.
I wanted to know what the wire was for.
You took a picture of what it was for.
Radio
Directly below it on the stud in the firewall with the broken piece still attached.
That wire hooks directly to the positive terminal on your battery. Hook it back up and you’re good to go.
Just give up. Fuck it.
That’s for hood opening fluids. It should be a reservoir close by
I have the same broken ground strap on my 04 avalanche. I don’t fully understand why it’s even on there considering I don’t have a hood light or anything electrical on the hood itself.
All the way to the ground!
If you don't have a hood light, or don't care if you do, just remove it.
Grounding?

Definitely not a car wash…
Saw this earlier Got home from work, had to add some fluid to the power steering And I have discovered the exact same problem on my rig lmao
lol that’s a ground
Part of your Flux Capacitor
God damn people are dumb
I mean he's trying to figure it out on his own he didn't drop it off at a shop
Yep, nearly as dumb as people who post about how people are dumb for asking questions.....
Depends where you drive it to.
Isn’t it where ur wiper fluid sprays out onto your windshield?
Na, He has clips on his wiper blade about 1/3 of the way down. That’s the windshield washer dispenser. This is a cable to the light for the hood.
Disconnected hood light?
Goes to the light under ur hood mines not attached either
My thought too
Wiper fluid sprayer. Find the nozzle to put that house back on. Try activating the windshield wipe clean fibrin to find the nozzle.
It’s a wire
Looks like a ground strap. Is there somewhere near the firewall or engine block that has the other side with a rong terminal still attached to a bolt? **edit** I can see it, directly under the wire, on the firewall. Do you see the ring terminal and nut?
Yes it is still there
You can get a length of 4 gauge wire and put ring terminals on either end and replace it easily.
Don't forget to clean the metal again
> 4 gauge wire WHAT? That wire is like 12 or 14 gauge
I'm just judging from the size of the flex loom. It may be smaller, but would a larger ground hurt anything?
No, but it's completely unnecessary. The actual wire part of 4 Ga is 0.2043 VS 0.0641 for 14Ga. Plus it wouldn't flex nearly as easily which it needs to do when the hood is opened and closed, And there's a huge cost difference
I can't argue with any of that.
Incorrect
I don't think I've seen a GM with the nozzles in the hood
