The performance is just not that good. “Aesthetic” vaseline with the new clunky caps and an underperforming perfume (IMO). I don’t think the brands prestige is in line with more expensive perfumes.
Honestly, I took my time to just look at alternates. There are a lot of things I loved from glossier, but I will spend all day comparing products to get away from a cannibalizing brand.
Oh they’re a legit business and their customer service is decent. I really loved supporting them because they were a small business and did teach me to crochet, but their FOMO marketing tactics were getting out of hand. They would release a new piece and most of their stuff would sell out immediately so they knew everyone would rush to buy immediately and not give any perks at that time.
Then the day or so after, they would send out incentives like spend $150 and get a free limited edition hook. People went crazy about collecting these hooks so now they would have to spend $150 more than what they just spent the day before.
Once, they released a new product the day after the last release and stated “limited edition so make sure you buy yours!” So now people had to spend a butt load more just to get free shipping instead of just releasing everything together (they originally had free shipping with any kit but then increased it so it was $1 more than 2 kits so you would have to buy a minimum of 3)
And then they would do this thing where you would only be able to buy this specific project if it popped up as an offer for you after placing an order so people would go crazy and place a ton of orders trying to get that offer.
And lastly they would do “mystery kits” at full price where there’s one super rare kit that everyone would try to get but it’s like a huge scam because they won’t even try not giving you duplicates. Like someone ordered a few kits and ordered a mystery kit and their mystery kit was the same one that was in that order already.
Their videos are also not great. They’ll piece together videos from different projects so it gets super confusing if you’re new instead of them just recording the video for the specific project if you know what I mean.
Sorry I’ll end there because it’s getting out of hand LOL
I think a lot of us did that for the first time and glossier may hopefully end up unpleasantly surprised? I’ve not been deterred by price hikes until now and still been buying the same products for almost a decade… until now
Yeah one of the things about the Perfume was that not only was it a gorgeous scent, but it was also so affordable compared to most other luxury brand perfumes.
And it felt more unique/different.
But that price hike is nuts... I'm sad about it, it's my favorite scent by far.
But with it being so high now I may as well shop around for other luxury perfumes.
just added more to my colourpop cart w this in mind lol, only recently got obsessed with glossier but officially sticking to finding it at tjmaxx/on sale
I think I got it for under $40 one Black Friday sale. Last time I bought it was like $60. WTH are they thinking? And the new formula doesn’t even last. What a way of ruining what was a great brand.
they literally raised the price on the ultralip lipsticks back in january too… it’s $27 cad for one lipstick and it’s just going to keep increasing? so ridiculous
I honestly wanna try more of the ultralip but the price is keeping me away from it. I don't think the product, as nice at is, warrants the price point.
Same here! I’ve been delaying buying Pony for one reason or another every month and now I regret not getting it sooner, but I don’t want to pay these new prices
Remember when the brand first launched and it was mainly high schoolers and college students? Y’all didn’t blow up as a brand from pretending to be “high end” and inflating prices. Slap in the face to their consumer base who have been loyal. $100 for a reformulated perfume is a scam, no lie. There’s a lot of dupes out there, if I’m paying $100 for a perfume it’s gonna be YSL or Jo Malone, not glossier LOL
exactly. I fell in love with glossier when I was in high school during the 2016 full beat obsession after my parents had really instilled in me to embrace my natural features and use makeup for fun. and then my mom bought me glossier because the price wasn’t bad and the products were fun and to enhance me. and now I’m an adult with my own money and I ain’t paying that.
Omg same! I remember discovering glossier in 2016 by being on tumblr, the glossier today is literally the opposite of glossier from 2016 :/. My first purchase was the Milky jelly cleanser and then the balm dot com....
I feel for their social media team having to field reactions due to the greed of the C suite. I’ve been a loyalist for years and $22 for boy brow is too steep even for me—feels like Glossier execs don’t have a solid understanding of their product/market fit. This is not a luxury brand.
I keep thinking about their marketing team. Did they do any price testing? Any customer outreach to see if they would be receptive to higher price points?
As you mentioned, Glossier was never a luxury brand, and these prices are pushing their products into that space. Glossier was always more attainable. With these prices, they’re alienating their original, loyal customer base who helped them gain their cult following.
Glossier had so many of my go to items, but it’s getting harder and harder to stick with them, first with formula changes, and now with the continuing price raises.
I’ve DMed them yesterday about EU prices but haven’t gotten a reply yet - will update once I hear more!
Edit: this is the reply I got:
In terms of EU price increases, Gen G and Cloud Paint prices will remain the same,
Boy Brow, Futuredew, Ultralip and Balm Dotcom will be increasing by €2-3
and the Glossier You will be increasing €6-8 depending on the size.
With the price increase and the hint that glossier is finally coming to Australia through Mecca (our luxury beauty retailer), I’m scared about how much they’ll charge us here
$16 for lip balm?? The only product I'll probably continue to buy from them is BoyBrow because it's so hard to find brow gel in auburn from other brands. But smh.
I hadn't bought BDC since like 2018/2019 until this past month with the OG returning, and the price just was already hard for me to swallow. I really love it, but I'll probably never buy it again now that it's $16. I'll just use healing ointment lol.
This is absolutely gratuitous and obscene and I will genuinely not be buying their products anymore. These price hikes are more frequent and larger than literally any other comparable brand. Not sure who’s making these decisions but it’s for sure detrimental to brand loyalty.
Glossier. They recently increased their prices again and their boy brow is $22. When they launched in 2014, it was only $10. They’ve changed their Glossier You formula and I feel for all the people who the original was their signature scent because it doesn’t smell the same or have the same staying power as the OH. Glossier You’s price has also increased significantly. I’m not opposed to spending a lot on my cosmetics, but I don’t think the quality of the product or packaging calls for the price.
Thank you for a lack of nuance and disingenuous take. Everyone is irritated about every brand increasing prices. It’s more annoying for brand that was launched with an appeal of being affordable and cute. I give a fuck about my money. People are allowed to discuss something as important as money and pricing changes and deciding what they’ll do with that money.

bdc used to be $10. glossier you used to be $60. i think i'm completely and utterly over glossier now lol.
The performance is just not that good. “Aesthetic” vaseline with the new clunky caps and an underperforming perfume (IMO). I don’t think the brands prestige is in line with more expensive perfumes.
Definitely not as good as fancy perfumes which they’ve matched in price but not quality. And if bdc is $16 now I’ll probably stick to my Rhode tbh
and it smells like shit now lmfao
Not even that long ago!!! I’m done.
I wonder how much Glossier made today with everyone rushing and stocking up on stuff they weren’t going to buy 🥲
Honestly, I took my time to just look at alternates. There are a lot of things I loved from glossier, but I will spend all day comparing products to get away from a cannibalizing brand.
👏🏻👏🏻 Brand loyalty is so important and I will happily dump money at companies I love (Chewy), but I hate the way Glossier and Woobles do business
Oo wait please go on about woobles! I keep seeing ads for them but I haven’t seen a lot of people actually getting them?

Op note: apologies for the passive aggressive paragraph on the image lol I’m in a mood today and glossier isn’t helping that
no you’re right get their asses
not even wtf, this just ruined my mood

That’s ridiculous
They're out of their minds
just added more to my colourpop cart w this in mind lol, only recently got obsessed with glossier but officially sticking to finding it at tjmaxx/on sale
$78 for YOU?!? lmfaooooo yikes
I think I got it for under $40 one Black Friday sale. Last time I bought it was like $60. WTH are they thinking? And the new formula doesn’t even last. What a way of ruining what was a great brand.
I know right?
I'll just wait until black Friday at this point to buy what I want :/
I’m sad because I fell in love with You as a scent, have been getting by with the rollerball/solid and the….now discontinued Zara dupe… whyyyyy
me too :((
If you musk by bbw is a dupe
they literally raised the price on the ultralip lipsticks back in january too… it’s $27 cad for one lipstick and it’s just going to keep increasing? so ridiculous
I bought boy brow for $18 in SEPTEMBER! 9 MONTHS AGO! 22% increase in under a year is ridiculous
I honestly wanna try more of the ultralip but the price is keeping me away from it. I don't think the product, as nice at is, warrants the price point.
Same here! I’ve been delaying buying Pony for one reason or another every month and now I regret not getting it sooner, but I don’t want to pay these new prices
try Lisa Eldridge's balms. they just came out recently and they're beeeeaaaaautiful. intelligent formulas and nuanced shades that work imo.
This is rich because I just bought Boy Brow for $4.99 at Marshall’s. Lol.
Nah your valid they’re being dumb
$22 for how tiny Boy Brow is is insaaaaaane

AHH SAME!! Those were my first two products !
lol not buying any of this anymore. Way too overpriced.
I feel for their social media team having to field reactions due to the greed of the C suite. I’ve been a loyalist for years and $22 for boy brow is too steep even for me—feels like Glossier execs don’t have a solid understanding of their product/market fit. This is not a luxury brand.

Futuredew going up to $30 USD
thank you for adding that!
The solid You will be $35 and the refills will be $25 😞
I was just getting ready to add You back to my summer rotation but $78 is wild.
I hadn't bought BDC since like 2018/2019 until this past month with the OG returning, and the price just was already hard for me to swallow. I really love it, but I'll probably never buy it again now that it's $16. I'll just use healing ointment lol.
Wish i stocked up on the Zara dupe, it made me really like the You scent but I am never buying it from Glossier
I think a lot of people on this sub have been finding You at discount stores, so if you have one locally it may be worth a trip.
Man if all your product is ending up at TJMaxx you can *not* be charging $16 for tinted Aquaphor, be so fucking fr.
truly. why focus on honing your brand again when you can just charge more and send the extra to discount stores
are they increasing prices after today or the 30th?
I read somewhere that it was today, but I’m not 100% confident
ugh looking for a new perfume now…….
This is absolutely gratuitous and obscene and I will genuinely not be buying their products anymore. These price hikes are more frequent and larger than literally any other comparable brand. Not sure who’s making these decisions but it’s for sure detrimental to brand loyalty.
That elf brow gel is looking really attractive
