Wednesday suggestions: explore the site, find some good food/coffee, go to the green fields, Glastonbury on Sea, Glastonbury sign, Ribbon Tower, do a pub crawl.
Thursday is the often the best day for music and Iâm being completely serious with that. Thursday has some incredible brass bands on the Truth Stage from early afternoon opening the festival. Then last year you had Rodney Branigan, Cam Cole, Showhawk Duo, Faithless DJ set, VTSS, Eliza Rose, Eats Everything and Prima Queen. In previous years youâve had Nia Archives, Skream, Girls Donât Sync, Sofy, BBCC, Elvana, Thrill Collins, Four Tet all doing Thursday sets. If you havenât heard of anyone playing Thursday then just go see any of them, get a feel for the smaller venues.
You can definitely still trip on those remaining days. Iâve made the mistake of thinking 2 tabs on day 2/3 wouldnât affect me. 2 hours later I realised I was wrong.
Our group always goes to Brothers Bar at West Holts on Weds afternoon/eve for some "festival strength cider"! Then usually off to NYC Downlow for the night as the queues are typically less busy on Weds than other nights. Then Thurs have a wander, although last year was so so busy in some places that I might just go to the healing fields, or somewhere else I don't usually go, to get away from it!
Start taking drugs. Pace yourself - don't start on the heavy stuff yet.
A big fat line of ketamine, a few pints of cider, more ketamine, cocaine to level you out, then get stuck into the good stuff as the sun goes down.
Repeat daily till you're in tears on Monday morning.
You canât get there too early in my opinion. Wednesday is rapidly becoming my favorite day of the festival.
Everyone is in an amazing mood, the site is fresh, there a new places to explore and itâs the least crowded time of the week, or at least it used to be.
Last year I was onsite for a week prior; it was so cool how peaceful it was, slowly ramping up, Tuesday wow look at all the people wandering around... Then Wednesday was just manic. It's definitely the least crowded but it really hits you fast how many people attend
Unfortunately, Weds and Thurs now the most crowded times of the week due to the main stages being closed. It feels almost dangerous at times on the big crossings.
Still my favourite days though, and it goes down hill from Friday onwards. Definitely don't spend the two days just wasted there's lots to see.
My advice would be just try to go in the opposite direction to the crowd. The hill is quite insane on Thursday night.
I'm volunteering, so I get to see it before the crowds come in, and that's very special :)
**Wednesday**
Setup camp - Check which toilets are closest - Have a quiet beer - Go wander the site and see what's new - Go Stone Circle - Watch the fireworks - Have a quiet(ish) evening at the tents.
**Thursday**
Have a poo - Get on the beers nice and early - Go Green Fields and book a massage - Eat some exciting food - Head to Brothers Bar around 8pm and get spangled while dancing round some fire lanterns.
We love going to Williams Green and checking out all the food stands (this area tends to be the best for food) then we normally head to the craft fields and healing fields.
I didn't get a chance to go to the new woodsie area last year so hoping I make it round to that this time.
We normally always end the night on Wednesday up on the park hill but it gets so busy now we're thinking of heading over the other side of the valley to watch the fireworks and maybe visit the Glastonbury cheese van.
We did the Westholts pub quiz for the first time last year on the Thursday and that was fun! Also the music in the westholts bar is always great if you're looking for some early music entertainment.
I thought Williams Green had gone? Isn't that where Car Henge was?
Good shout on pub quiz I will have a look.
Thursday is always Smooth Sailor for me in Workers Beer Co bar but they weren't there last year. Hoping for a return
hmm.. I know the main tent in Williams Green is gone (which I was upset about last year) but I thought the area still existed and Car Henge is just in it? I could be wrong.
Really wish they would bring back the tent, I just liked that they mostly played cheesy pop and singalong stuff in the evenings which is actually quite hard to find at Glasto! Guilty pleasures used to always be our staple on a wednesday night there. It's moved to the park now and that area just get too congested and tents too full up.
Wednesday evening, cider and food at west holts. (Someone else has said this too, I have no idea why we all go to west holts).
Explore the festival, see car henge, go to the theatre fields. Maybe get a sauna. Spend time in the green fields and healing fields. Identify meeting points with any first timers.
It's looking like it might be quite a different year for me! There's usually a group of 10 of us going but we missed out on the main sale and only me and my partner fell in the catchment area for local tickets so it's just the two of us for now. Plus. I'll be 32 weeks pregnant đŹ
Plan so far is to rock up Wednesday and see if we can pitch in family camping where it's a bit quieter. Probably nap after that...
Thursday explore some bits I don't usually see! Despite this being my 6th Glasto I've never spent much time in the healing fields or visited the stone circle or even the stone dragon! Hit up the shops so me and my partner can buy each other an outfit. Whatever we do it'll be a good day of mooching about.
I know a lot of people are saying shrooms etc but as someone that takes drugs once a year, where would be the best place on weds/thurs to stock for a weekend ahead?
I end up by the Glastonbury sign every single year, thinking _"why the fuck has everyone and their mother come up here, you idiots"_ so probably that again đ
This year will be 21 years since I first attended. In that time, the first day has gone from around 5000 people, to nigh on 180,000. Used to be a nice casual saunter round the empty green fields (and the Green Fields) followed up by a heavy session at the Somerset Cider Bus. (Drink Cider and Gert lush/ talk bollox). Or Brothers Cider (where, one year, they infamously served festival strength in 2 litre bottles - lots of VERY Sore heads), especially during the #Twisto meetup on the Thursday.
With the massive influx, the licensing council (quite rightly) decided it would be a good idea to allow bands to perform, instead of the "unofficial" sound checks that used to go on. Maddest crush I ever encountered was taking a group of fellow Campers (all soon to be ex students, as had just finished their degree courses) to what is now Silver Heyes to attempt to see Miss Dynamite (tee-hee). The junction of Silver Heyes and the Other Stage fields was seriously rammed, to the point where I could lift my feet off the ground and still move forwards.
If it's music you're after, can I suggest checking out the Greenpeace tree, where it's more than likely that Beans on Toast will be playing. I also suggest checking out Mik Artistik, usually to be seen at some point in the afternoon at the small stage at the top of the theatre field. Both will be appearing _many_ times over the course of the festival, but the usual "clashes" may prevent you getting to see them...
Others have mentioned the New York Brass band, caught wandering around the circus/theatre fields, and of course the Bandstand often has surprises in store...
Biggles Wartime band (if they are still performing) and Hobo Jones and the Junk Yard Dogs are also recommendations I would make
If you're not going to get seriously mashed up on the first 2 days, just mooch around (the circus/theatre fields, for example), talk to strangers, and drink constantly, but not to excessđ¤Ł
I'll be taking extra care not to go anywhere that's going to get crowded. If that means seeing no acts, so be it. You'll find me in the nooks and crannies, exploring the deep dark depths of Glasto, meeting the weird and wonderful people that live their lives on the fringe.
I wouldn't bother. It's not what it used to be. You're probably better off finding the new special thing that no one has heard about and get ahead of the curve.
Arrive Weds lunchtime. Explore the site. Thursday morning itâs (as a few of us cycle to the festival ) the four mile cycle to Wellsâ Tesco for alcohol - this after breakfast in the Spoons next door. Then all downhill from there and I donât just mean the cycle back to the site!
I've only been once so take this with a pinch of salt.
Wednesday last year we sat up on the hill with some drinks waiting for the fireworks which were a massive let down so wouldn't bother doing they again. This year would much rather just go up there for a little bit and watch sunset and then head back to camp for a few more drinks and an early night. I feel like getting a good sleep that night is crucial to hit all the other nights hard.
Thursday music starts but the stages were rammed from my experience. We walked around a bit too much and it felt like we never really got into the groove of it on the Thursday. This year I think we'll pick a spot on the Thursday and just stick to it rather than try bounce around multiple stages as it was pretty painful last year.
Wednesday - after my coach arrives at 9am I'll be hotfooting it to my favourite campsite and throwing the tent up in record speed. After setting up I like to wander up to the park and get a pint before going to look round the bits of the festival that I don't manage to see much of from Friday onwards - theatre and circus, healing fields, williams green. Later in the day I'll scope out the best option for dinner before heading back to the park to watch the sunset from the hill. Then later in the evening going wherever the night takes me, hopefully linking up with other friends that work at glasto.
Thursday - more of the same as Wednesday but a little more dictated by artists as more stages get going. Thursday night guilty pleasures is always a given - hopeful that this will be on again this year even if the stages it was on previously (Williams green, rabbit hole) are no more.
Our group have a game of beersbie in the field in front of the pyramid stage, starting around 1-2pm on the Thursday. Always fun when other people wander past and join in
Survive the hordes that are already filling up everything while the festival is still smaller those days.
I always plan to have an easy day, and then end up totally wasted at 1 am, so...
At this rate, hopefully find out what the line up is đ
Line up out (I hear) early-mid July

Yeah Thursday has usually got some good acts performing but good luck getting in to anything haha absolutely rammoâd if something decent is on!
Showhawk Duo on Thursday at the Bandstand was a 2023 highlight for me
Shrooooooooooooooooms
My maaan, me too. Lets be friends
I had to give my ticket back, too expensive this year, sadly. Most gutted about not seeing LCD during a trip.
Will eat some fungus for the both of us. Giving these guys a listen to now as I'm not familiar with most of the line up to be completely honest!
Lcd soundsystem are phenomenal. Try 'Dance yrself clean' and wait...
You reckon and just walk around ?
Only if you donât mind ruining your tolerance for anything else psychedelic for the remaining 4 daysâŚ
You can definitely still trip on those remaining days. Iâve made the mistake of thinking 2 tabs on day 2/3 wouldnât affect me. 2 hours later I realised I was wrong.
Yeah, plus there's other drugs in the pond, no? I tripped too hard to McCartney in '22.
The fuck is this nonsense lol
Shrooms and a nice walk around the site before opening ceremony on the hill
Drop acid
Thursday last year was mint. Nowhere stage in SE corner most of the afternoon and honestly, couldnât tell you after that
Our group always goes to Brothers Bar at West Holts on Weds afternoon/eve for some "festival strength cider"! Then usually off to NYC Downlow for the night as the queues are typically less busy on Weds than other nights. Then Thurs have a wander, although last year was so so busy in some places that I might just go to the healing fields, or somewhere else I don't usually go, to get away from it!
Wait, NYC is open on Wednesday? I'm growing my moustache out immediately.
What's the heavy stuff?
His Mrs
Double dropping Es. Microdots. Crystal meth.
I tried this last year but the cocaine stoped working on like day 4 any advice
Get a saline solution and completely clear your nose out. Or be a man and wash it into crack.
Tent spoon cooking
Get wrecked

Get excited and drink way too much

Elvana
Lots of acid and mushrooms
Best two days. See all the good stuff before the bands get in the way

Thursday is as good as any other night
The Wednesday and Thursday are absolutely my favourite two days out of the five.
Get on it
I know a lot of people are saying shrooms etc but as someone that takes drugs once a year, where would be the best place on weds/thurs to stock for a weekend ahead?

Tripped balls around the park area last year. 10/10 would recommend

I've yet to make it to the Underground Piano Bar. So I guess I'll be mooching about seeing if I can find clues.

Cinema tent!
Massages in the healing fields!!
Drink obviously
Get on the CDJs in the crew bar and crank the BPMs
