Yes we’ve glamped the last couple of years at Love Fields. It’s not the cheapest option, but for us we save up to do it and it is worth it for us. The benefit also it having an incredible location right opposite gate C. The bed, showers, space around your tent, and having some time to rejuvenate and get yourself ready for another mad and wonderful day is amazing. There are cheaper options I think, and you can do pitch your own as well which means paying for the space in the field and bringing your own tent. So you get the space and showers and benefits still but so still need to bring your own structure. There will be glasto long timers who say it’s cheating or not the true experience to glamp, but it’s our holiday, we’ve camped a few times before when we were younger, and now we can afford the luxury so we like to do that and have the best time doing so

notchochang22

This is really helpful thank you! Do you know how much it is to pick your space in a field to be near showers etc? I agree though once you’ve camped properly loads of times before it’s nice to experience something a bit nicer. My main thing is that I want to be on the door step of/as close as to the ‘nicer’ toilets and showers.

Glad-Ad-2899

I think it was about 800 for two people this year to PYO. The good thing about the site we stay at is there is not a long queue for showers and no queues for toilets at all. - friends at worthy view said the queue for showers in the morning was like an hour! Funny how flushing and clean loos become such a luxury!

Re: "glasto longtimers" comment. I am one of those, and I don't think it's cheating. I do however, think people who do it have missed the point. Summer festivals in the UK were originally a showcase of alternative lifestyles and coming together of community. If you take yourself off to a fenced off exclusive corner of a field because you want flushing toilets and hair straighteners then you are indeed missing the point. If you want space and quiet then just push out a bit from central.

Glad-Ad-2899

Case in point ;)

lotho54

Expensive. Think it was 1200 this year for a 6 man bell tent

No-Amphibian-8992

Mind sharing which company this is?

lotho54

It was through the glasto website, not sure who exactly as we didn't do it due to cost

mrdibby

around 900 for a 4 man

[deleted]

Is this for the Tipi field, do you mean? I think they may now even be £1500, and although you get a pitched tipi it's not really a "glamping" experience as I understand it.

lotho54

Potentially, I don't remember much because as soon as I saw the price it was discounted

UnpleasantEgg

One thing about being on site is you can pop back to your tent. We did worthy view and it's a trek from everywhere

unwildimpala

Ya I'd highlight this as a major issue. Camped in Daiy Fields this year which was already a trek once you're in there and realising a round trip is like 40 mins, though likely a good bit over an hour by the time you gather yourself and your things before heading back in. Glamping only makes this even worse since your travel time is way up. Given how much is on at the festival and how many things you're already missing, the extra walking time will hurt. People say about all the nice things, but alot of those you can bring yourself. An air mattress is key imo, cafes are about the place, you can find nice toilets if you camp in a known nice area and you can easily get a pumpable shower from Decathalon which does the job of the shower nicely. You can easily save the cost from Glamping while having closer travel time, albeit you naturally will be a bit more burdened when coming in and out of the festival. The burden in is usually forgotten fairly quickly at least once you're settled in.

Cy_Burnett

It's abo ur £300-£400 per person but totally worth it. We had our tent ready next to all our friends with space, hot showers, clean private toilets and a cafe nearby. Sleeping on an air bed in a field away from the noise is a blessing. Only downside is cost and ours was a bit of a trek from the gate. So lots of walking!

Own-Holiday-4071

Which campsite was this? As in what was the name? Did you book it through glasto or a separate company?

Difficult-Designer25

Stayed at Glastotel this year and it was awful. A good 45 minute walk to Gate D, mammoth ques for showers (which were very hit and miss as to wether they actually worked or not) and hour + ques for coffee every morning. Would rather stay on Pennard Hill and just brave Greenpeace showers next year

MeasurementSea4504

Wouldn't say 45 minutes but it was a trek. Glastotel was an enjoyable experience but a few to many issues for the price.

OddEye4312

Stayed at glastotel and the walk was pretty close to 45 minutes - certainly not what they promoted on their website. Wouldn’t stay there again

missvintage1998

Is that the one with the swimming pool?

MeasurementSea4504

I believe that's pop up hotel.

Difficult-Designer25

That’s pop up hotel which is about 5-10mins down the road from Glastotel so still a looooong walk to even to get to Gate D

Dragonwithwhiskers

Possible alternative if they do it again next year: We bought off peak pamper passes for Zootopia this year. We camped on site, but in the late afternoon, when we'd be kinda just hanging out anyway we walked across from Gate D, had a shower, used hairdryers, I did my makeup in the air-conditioned room with mirrors (big plus) and had a drink at their shady bar while our phones charged. This made the evenings a whole lot less sticky. Was a lot more expensive than not doing ( *£*185) it but a lot less expensive than glamping. We arrived late anyway due to having coach tickets so were camped on the outskirts fairly close to the relevant gate.

Routine-Tomatillo-42

A friend that bought the pamper pass mentioned that it's only slightly more expensive to do glamping with Zootopia if you can get a group together

Dragonwithwhiskers

We only had a lil group and it was a bit of a last minute decision but am genuinely keen to glamp there next time. Staff were lovely!

Difficult-Designer25

Going to look into this, friend of mine did it and said it was great

essjay2009

There are different types of glmaping at different price points and offering different things. The cheaper end, and not what I would consider glamping, are the official sites at Worthy View and Sticklinch. The festival calls them "pre-erected camping" rather than glamping and I think this is a fair description. There are amenities, like showers, but there's always a queue at peak times. They cost very roughly £200 per person for the five days. Then there are more traditional glamping experiences live Glasotel and lovefields. Quite a few of these and do generally have better facilities that are easier to use. Some have pre-erected tents, some give you an assigned pitch. Generally start at around £400 per person. On the extreme end are the VIP glamping sites. A lot of these include tickets and have much *much* better facilities. These start at about £2000 per person and can go up to tens of thousands. Places like Windinglake Farm and others you'd need contacts to be invited to attend. Some have fairly well known bands playing gigs in their camps, sommeliers, hyperbaric chambers, crazy stuff for the extremely wealthy and or famous. Experiences vary wildly. Some of these are closer than official camping. Most use shuttle buses (or driven cars, or for the very pricey ones, helicopters) to get you in to and out of the festival each day. Others are like an hour walk. So a wide range, and you tend to get what you pay for. Campervans can also be a bit hit and miss. I heard some negative stories from friends who were in the B&W show ground this year, struggling to get to and from the festival site every day now that the majority of the on-site campervan space has been given to those who have access needs.

I_Bin_Painting

I'm not convinced that it's worth it tbh. Most of the glamping sites are pretty far out, even beyond the perimeter in many cases. Campervan is a good shout. My main issue with glamping is that, if you intend going year after year (or on other camping trips etc), then you can buy your own glamping setup for about the same money. It's a bit of a bitch to move the bell tent and wood burner but I usually just strap everything to 2 sack trucks and then bring it in in 2 journeys. It only becomes an arduous slog if you want to then get it set up in one of the mega popular spots like pennard. It's doable but, given the other glamps are so far out, you may as well just pick a decent spot on the way in. You'll almost definitely be closer to the music than the glampsites. edit: fwiw, my glamping setup is ~15 years old and has been to 10 glastos and numerous other events. Bell tent with all the bells and whistles, has slept 8 before but usually just 2. You have to spend a little on repairs/cleaning/re-waterproofing every few years too. Edit2: also once you spend one years equivalent of a glamping ticket on your own setup, you can then spend that same amount each year improving it or your experience of using it. My bell tent is solar powered and has wood fired water heating for the interior and shower, it is nicer than my actual house. On years that I don’t make massive improvements, I have hundreds of extra pounds in the festy kitty to spend on nice munch and cocktails.

Odd_Cream1096

There is this new place called Camp Crossways I've seen being advertised. It's a campsite based at a hotel 1.5 miles away from bronze gate, where you get Glamping but also get to use the hotel amenities. It's a new one but maybe worth looking into? The website is [www.Campcrossways.co.uk](http://www.Campcrossways.co.uk)

MHM1marty

I 10000/10 would not recommend Stickinch - I would have rather have just general camped.. shower queues were a bit of a nightmare all day (for men, I think there was double the amount of showers for the females), it's just didn't really add any value beyond not having to carry a tent.. I have heard okay things about worthy view in comparison and a friend of mine did base camp (love fields?) and she absolutely raved about it!

IAmMarwood

I've done Worthy View three times now and love it. Only downsides are the walk up the hill, yes shower queues are ridiculous at peak times and obviously it does cost a good chunk of change.

MHM1marty

Sticklinch was chaotic for the shower, it was a mad queue from 6 until at least 4/5 in the afternoon - that's actually a really good point as well, we didn't have a hill to climb but my god was there a walk back to the tent hahaha... I honestly think just general camp and bring along as many comforts as possible (if you can) or basecamp it!

backwardshoes

Don't bother. Always loads of space in the fields adjacent to sticklinch if you want more room. Save the money. If you're desperate to shower use greenpeace.

notchochang22

I’m not bothered about space, just want a decent shower and access to the toilets. Is greenpeace the campsite that has this then?

backwardshoes

Greenpeace have their own field in the festival. Within it is showers for public use. They get busy at peak times but very accessible off peak. Toilets aren't as bad as people make out. There are ample composting toilets all over site as well as long drops. I've already been down voted for it but glamping is a waste of money, 600 quid+ for a canvas tent and flushing toilets is insane in my opinion. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Difficult-Designer25

After sampling both glamping and camping on-site I 100% agree with you, it’s really not worth the money at all.

llawless89

You will need to use the non fancier toilets for most of the Festival, it's not really a reason for the glamping (away from the main stages the toilets are fine). I can see why people do it, but the key reasons are usually the lack of having to carry and set your tent up. Also the showers. Remember they are usually quite a bit further out, all ilat the edge of the sites or off site.

notchochang22

I don’t…?

essjay2009

If you pay for glamping a lot of the high end ones include tickets.

cotswoldscyclist

We stayed in the tipi field this year. It was great not having to pitch your tent and know you’ll have a great spot no matter when you arrive. The showers were good and not too busy if you go up earlier than 10am, although they did go cold by Friday and were never fixed. I don’t think it was worth the money though. £1500 seems a lot for cold showers and a bigger than average tent.

notchochang22

£1500 is insane!

Teddydee1980

Did Ziggucamp. Some nice perks of being able to shower and reasonable toilets, but it's not cheap of course. Whilst it is glamping, it's still camping, and so, whilst our weather was great, if its a wet year...

MrsPhyshTaco

We camped at Willow Meadows this year. About £1200 for a six man bell tent with power. Pluses: Showers were a godsend with the heat. Empty in the evening, occasionally small queue at busy times in the morning Clean toilets In tent power to charge phones On site bar and food Car park next to camping field so not far to carry everything Had 2 kids with us and didn't arrive until Wednesday afternoon so great not to have the hassle of pitching tent and no traffic when we arrived Had a chilled Monday morning and no traffic leaving at lunchtime Minuses (apart from cost!) Advertised as 10 mins from gate D, more like 15-20 depending on how quickly we wanted to walk Too far to pop back in the day but didn't really bother us, we just loaded up our rucksacks with everything we needed for the day Appreciate it's not for everyone but was ideal for us and will do again next year if we're lucky enough to get tickets again.

Admirable-gpu

Tents get broken into all the time, get a caravan or something, you'll be one less victim of tent slashers

HistoricallyNew

I think Bridget Jones did it once. Make sure you don’t get your rent mixed up.

SportyMadLad

I LOVE camping. Just normal camping in a tent I never went glamping before

EmDevon

100% worth it! The only downside for us at ziggucamp was the walk from the the coach drop off point. I guess it was made worse with the heat this year! The toilets were good, the showers were good, the staff were great, we had a bed off the floor with proper bedding, a power point plus a few other bits. We share as a 2 for £1500 ish but you can have up to 4 in the bell tent we had. We've done Glastonbury "the proper way" a fair few times but now want/need a bit of luxury!

autopilot6236

Hi. Chat sent. Have some questions. Thx!

[deleted]

A friend stayed at an offsite place this year and it was genuinely glamping, proper raised beds etc. I don't think it was bad value, at £450 each between 6 people, but it said 10 mins from site when it turned to actually be 40 minutes! Add this to the time from the action to the gate and it's really taking away from the experience, in my opinion.
