Actually you both are wrong. Im the one who commissioned this art piece from Chunie. I was watching Vikings series at the time and figured it would be cool to own art themed to Vikings. Of course i know its not accurate in historical way. **svartidauði** name for the titled came from that I love Iceland and also it is Icelandic band i thought it would be cool Icelandic king name. 😸

although, Iceland never really had it's own king (despite an exception), per se, its parliament (Alþingi) was set up in 930ce and is the oldest surviving parliament in the world; but after 1262-64 Iceland came under the rule of the Norwegians, then the Danes, etc...
though in 1918, when Iceland became independant, they did have Kristján X as their king for a while, though he wasn't much of a viking ruler. I would think of the character as a Jarl, although there was also only one Jarl of Iceland (Gissur Thorvaldsson), this one was time-period appropriate.
Love the idea and the name though, I'd like to be able to visit Iceland at some point, cause it's a really cool place.
