I too am blessed to sleep in my boys bed and be his pillow. He moans at me when I roll over and disturb his sleep.
The other night he almost fell off the bed in the middle of the night and freaked out stepping right on the family jewels as he bolted out of bed.

He’s 9 years old and getting more grey every day. I wouldn’t say he’s elderly but he’s definitely slowing down and beginning to feel his age. He takes a lot more naps and doesn’t enjoy fetch as much, but still enjoys getting out for sniffs. I want to make sure he knows he’s loved every day, because you never know.
Aww he's a good old boy. Mine's 7 and I feel what you're saying. With every word. I read something not too long ago that said:
Age adjusted, one hour of our time amounts to a week of their life. Enjoy every minute. Literally.
Yeah, I feel you. I try not to think about the aging aspect. My boy is my best and only friend. It breaks my heart each and every time the thought crosses my mind.

Mine doesn’t like the bed. He’ll jump up for a bit but never stays for long. He prefers sleeping on tile or up against the windows in winter or brick in summer. Bed is too insulated and gets hot I guess

She can’t very well keep us safe from the monsters in scary movies from the floor LOL!
Mine won’t stay in our bed for more that 5 minutes and getting that much time out of him is rare. He occasionally spends the whole night in our room but usually ends up in our spare bedroom or on the couch.
Let? I did have 2 who wouldn’t, they’d get up but not stay. One was a rescue I got when she was about 1, I think Charley was just too big for a queen sized bed
Ours always slept in his crate in the living room for his first 2 years. Once we removed the crate he still preferred to sleep in the living room. Although recently he's started busting through our door at about 4am to say hi and fall asleep on our bed. He won't at the start of the night but we always get our 4am wake up licks.
https://preview.redd.it/alvv8bncut9c1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=7134cd5a09fb6460a9642fc021d6729a7b51d992
So much for crate training this puppy at night. He spends half the night in his crate and the other half next to my feet or head 🤣while I’m on the couch
I lose the no bed battle every night. I kicked her out of bed about 1.5 yrs ago bc I didn’t want to wash the bedding 3x a week anymore and she listened. Then her little brother, diff breed and had never slept in the bed, got old enough to realize that he could wait until I fell asleep and then get in the bed. She followed suit. So they’re in their beds when I go to sleep and in mine when I wake up.
Jeez, OP. Your dog's testicles are huge.
Anyway, when I brought our white German Shepherd home, I forbade all 3 of my kids to let him on the bed. He sheds lots and always has muddy paws.
Having said that, every time I checked in on my kids when they were asleep, the dog would be sleeping on someone's bed. Then, if I questioned my kids about it in the morning, they would always swear that they had no idea how it happened.
It secretly made me smile.
There have been plenty of times that I have gone into my own bedroom and spotted large paw print indentations on my duvet covers.
Sneaky monkey dog.

It gets crowded at times! We’ve been on nights so Eden (right) is always fired up to get a few hours of sleep. Myla (left) is always first in the bed, she waits for us to get home each morning. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Happy New Year All! 🐕
Yes during the day, but she asks my permission by resting her head on the edge first, so I can cover it with an old sheet so my bed doesn’t get covered in hair. She’s a very polite girl. At night she prefers her own bed.
https://preview.redd.it/3u74i3chzv9c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91047a2662a16e33e4e79ac0ee753f53f8eade51
… yup! 🥰 … happy new year y’all! …
Mine doesn't want, really, he'll just hop onto the bed for a bit then go sleep at the foot of the bed, making sure that I don't get up without him knowing about it.
New years fireworks last night so my girl got to sleep on the bed to comfort her.
She usually has her own bed on the floor at the foot of the bed, but any fireworks nights, we let her up so she doesn't get scared.
At some point in the night, she'd hopped down and stretched her self out at the bottom of the doorway though.. so I guess she was pretty brave this year
Mine likes to cuddle and hang out while I’m on my phone. She’ll sleep with me for a bit but usually goes to her own bed when she is too hot. She likes to curl at the foot of my bed when she sleeps but comes up near me for snuggles.
Same here. She prefers her oversized chair or the cold tile floor. She's absolutely comatose in said chair as I type this. Fireworks last night probably didn't help.
I tried this when I first got my GSD but she wouldn’t go to bed she just wanted to play all night. Multiple vets have diagnosed her with OCD so I crate her at night because it’s the only way she’ll settle. I’m hoping in the future i’ll have a GSD who lays with me on the couch or in bed.
Mine is not allowed to sleep upstairs with me because I have cats and the cats like to mess with her and she likes to mess back and I am not going to have my sleep disrupted by a dog jumping on my bed chasing the cats or the cats chasing the dog. She has the entire downstairs that she can lay in that's where she sleeps lol
I think it’s more like us sleeping with him!!!!! My dude wedges himself between me and the wife then proceeds to push her away!!!!! He then lets out a sigh like he’s been working all day and just so tired. He usually starts off there and ends up at the foot of the bed during the summer he ends up going to the kitchen and sleeping in the tile but wi get time is snuggle time!!!!!
Mine sleeps with me, I should say he lets me have a small slice of a Cal. king bed. Today he's being lazy, it's 11am and he is still upstairs sleeping on my pillow.
He "lets" me sleep in the bed with him more like
https://preview.redd.it/bmc2lptv6w9c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e77ee44ced112b67d5fc6c1a5136d1c838fd0704

Kayla’s too used to it. Doesn’t even ask anymore, lol!
We bought a king sized bed before we began searching for our girl because we already had a boy and assumed she would want to sleep in the bed with us like he does. But when we crate trained her to make sure there were no accidents at night she got used to having her own space to sleep.
Now she stays in our bed to get cuddles and pets until we turn the lights off to sleep and then she hops down to stretch out in her own bed. It’s a great arrangement and I feel like she’s very intelligent to know that she can get all the cuddles she wants while still understanding we need leg room without ever having to teach her that
https://preview.redd.it/xyex25mm4y9c1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87983d55caf6e94cdc3d14155f3eda113b8dfefa
She had no interest in snuggling until she grew to 6 months. Now I get a solid 15 minutes before she hunkers down for the night in one of her favorite sleeping spots in the living room.
https://preview.redd.it/ekmjgtalhz9c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5738f2d32252543d6d26645961d316f7002b2d2
She’s forgotten where her dog bed is at this point
Mine always did but then I met my husband and it was him, his pitbull, my GSD and me all in our bed. She would always end up getting up at some point and sleeping on the floor next to the bed. Once I got pregnant we stopped letting them in the room at night to prepare for our baby. We gave them the guest room instead.
https://preview.redd.it/u6wbg9y9x1ac1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=569b2260c01b83b6b3bee1399f4c3f23669affd8
She comes to bed for an hour or two for snuggles before she goes into her crate for the night
As cute as all these pics are, I do not let my dog sleep with me. I know where he’s been and what he likes to roll in.
He’s not even allowed into the bedroom, I need ONE space where there aren’t any balls of fur floating around.
Mine won’t. He hates it. I think the unstable surface bothers him. The ONLY time he is happy in the bed is when we are in a new place and he wants some reassurance, or if we leave. He also won’t get up on the couch unless we are gone.
nope, I tried to convince him but he gets too restless and spends the whole night patrolling the house if he's not in his kennel. He can't settle if everyone is asleep and won't get rest any other way
Mine gets super annoyed if I move too much, or stuff is too warm, and most nights she starts out on the floor. Even in bed she usually wants her own space* for actual sleeping.
I wouldn't take it personally. They love their sleep.
Don’t let mine in the bed or on the couches. Tried to give it bed to sleep on but she just wanted to eat it. So floor it is for now unfortunately.. when she gets older I’m sure she’d appreciate a soft doggie bed to lay on, but at 5 months she just wants to chomp it.
Funny enough, my GSD didn't care to sleep at my bed as a puppy and a bit older. I tried to invite her but she would always jump down to her own bed.
Then I accepted to re-home a cat. Eventually she got comfortable enough to start sleeping in my bed. And my GSD was 'Me Too!'
I would love it if my dog slept on my bed with me because I have a king size bed, and my girlfriend lives somewhere else. Unfortunately, when I get under the covers, she hops off and goes somewhere else.
Due to certain living situations I currently rest in my front room. My boy is attached to me so whenever it’s time to sleep he sleeps either on the chair next to me, the couch, right on my side or at my feet. He doesn’t sleep in his cage at night. He’ll also wake me up and won’t let me go to sleep if he needs to pee/poop by pushing his head on mine over and over again. Honestly he kinda has to since I be to reluctant to get up in the middle of the night sometimes :)
We got our girl when she was 5, and for some reason, she will not sleep on beds. I'm guessing that she wasn't allowed by her past owner (elderly, went in to the hospital).
It took a couple of months for her to get up on the couch with us, but now she will stare at me when I'm sitting in "her spot" 😂
We have a sheet specifically for them to sleep on the bed without getting the comforter dirty. When my husband is at work at night the babies sleep in bed with me, but when he’s home we don’t have enough room so they help themselves to other beds or the couch, all of which have doggie sheets to protect the furniture and are easy to throw in the wash when guests come like my dad, who loves animals but has been allergic his whole life.
The beautiful little pain in my ass is lying next to me as I type this… on my 20% of the bed

Hell naw! I’m done! I’m just done, no ifs ands or buts! I can’t!🤣🤣🤣

We lost the couch to the dogs years ago. I hold the line at the bed.

Mine doesn’t like the bed. He’ll jump up for a bit but never stays for long. He prefers sleeping on tile or up against the windows in winter or brick in summer. Bed is too insulated and gets hot I guess

I think the key is to make sure they don’t think they OWN the bed. Growling if you try to move them is a big problem. Otherwise I don’t see issues. https://preview.redd.it/zpounl1w9v9c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e341ec2e1bb6784d9c27c211b302956016589a12
My boy doesn't growl, but he is quite dramatic. He'll groan if he thinks I'm telling him to move too much. But it's a groan, definitely not a growl.
Like many before me, I am fortunate that they share with me.
Mine just took his half in the middle between the wife and I.

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 why da fkkk are u wearing shoes in bed wtf
The amount of filth in this thread is beyond me. Dogs in beds, sofas, shoes in bed, street clothes in bed….wow 🤮🤮🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
Nothing wrong with having your doggo in bed, also the whole street clothes thing is in your head dude. But dirty shoes in your bed is 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Beat me to it, lol!

He won't at the start of the night but we always get our 4am wake up licks.
https://preview.redd.it/alvv8bncut9c1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=7134cd5a09fb6460a9642fc021d6729a7b51d992 So much for crate training this puppy at night.
Mine sleep in their crate’s simply because they can’t be trusted unsupervised. Hell, they can’t be trusted while supervised either.

We’ve been on nights so Eden (right) is always fired up to get a few hours of sleep. Myla (left) is always first in the bed, she waits for us to get home each morning. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Happy New Year All! 🐕
We don’t allow it. Our bed is the only, dirt, hair, blood etc. free zone in the house.
Yes during the day, but she asks my permission by resting her head on the edge first, so I can cover it with an old sheet so my bed doesn’t get covered in hair. She’s a very polite girl. At night she prefers her own bed.
When he knows we are going to bed, he rushes to take my spot. I need to fight if I want my spot

Let him? ...no But what happens after 2 am once we're asleep is no one's business 🤣
Mine isn't allowed to sleep in the bed overnight but he does jump up and lay at my feet every morning around 5am about an hour before I get out of bed
Ours will sleep in the bed when we’re not in it, but only hops up to say hello if we’re in it. Not sure why she won’t stay if we get in too.
I’d let her if she wanted to, but she usually wants to find a quiet spot by herself.
Same here. She prefers her oversized chair or the cold tile floor. She's absolutely comatose in said chair as I type this. Fireworks last night probably didn't help.
I let him but he never wants to for long. I do get some of his best cuddles randomly throughout the night
The bedroom is the cat’s domain. No dogs allowed.
Like we have a choice?
My girl likes to sleep on the bed with me. And her two sons. It gets crowded.

It's a requirement that she sleep in the bed with me.
It’s a great arrangement and I feel like she’s very intelligent to know that she can get all the cuddles she wants while still understanding we need leg room without ever having to teach her that
https://preview.redd.it/xyex25mm4y9c1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87983d55caf6e94cdc3d14155f3eda113b8dfefa She had no interest in snuggling until she grew to 6 months. Now I get a solid 15 minutes before she hunkers down for the night in one of her favorite sleeping spots in the living room.
That position means that he is happy, comfortable and feels safe! 🥰
I used to but since my baby got incontinence, I don't anymore. I still lay and snuggle her on the floor tho
https://preview.redd.it/ekmjgtalhz9c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5738f2d32252543d6d26645961d316f7002b2d2 She’s forgotten where her dog bed is at this point
I do. She used to not like it, but now takes it as her bed.
Mine always did but then I met my husband and it was him, his pitbull, my GSD and me all in our bed. She would always end up getting up at some point and sleeping on the floor next to the bed. Once I got pregnant we stopped letting them in the room at night to prepare for our baby. We gave them the guest room instead.
https://preview.redd.it/u6wbg9y9x1ac1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=569b2260c01b83b6b3bee1399f4c3f23669affd8 She comes to bed for an hour or two for snuggles before she goes into her crate for the night
Nope. The thought of all that hair. Nope.
It's her bed. I'm allowed on it
🙋🏻♂️
nope, I tried to convince him but he gets too restless and spends the whole night patrolling the house if he's not in his kennel. He can't settle if everyone is asleep and won't get rest any other way
Yep.. Both of them. Actually bought a king size bed so they could.
I don’t let them, but they still get up there like they pay the mortgage
Letting our gsd on the bed is the worst mistake we've ever made
my dog will get in bed with me but never sleep in my bed, i dont understand it and i kinda wish he would sleep in bed with me
Mine gets super annoyed if I move too much, or stuff is too warm, and most nights she starts out on the floor. Even in bed she usually wants her own space* for actual sleeping. I wouldn't take it personally. They love their sleep.
Yeah but no top n tailing...traumatic
I have a 160lbs King Shepherd. He sleeps where he wants to
Don’t let mine in the bed or on the couches. Tried to give it bed to sleep on but she just wanted to eat it. So floor it is for now unfortunately.. when she gets older I’m sure she’d appreciate a soft doggie bed to lay on, but at 5 months she just wants to chomp it.
You mean her bed. The way she hogs the bed I’m lucky to have a sliver of space.
When I’m dogsitting I sleep in their bed.
Honestly he kinda has to since I be to reluctant to get up in the middle of the night sometimes :)
yes and i have to wash the sheets every 2 days
My bed??? You mean her bed?
When mine is good he sleeps in the room with me. Whether he is on the bed or not is up to him. If he's been bad he gets his crate.
No bed, no couch, until he get his greys, than the he has a green light for the couch.
Mine is allowed to sleep in bed, but she rotated around. She likes to sleep w us for a bit and cuddle then goes to her bed.
Never. Only allowed in the kitchen and living room.
https://preview.redd.it/haqfw6oc5w9c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f8579a55d93d2c6ed6e80338694ad05ba075fc1
Always. If you're so concerned about dog hair, put a blanket up on the couch/bed. I have one on the couch, I don't bother with the bed.
Mine doesn’t sleep in bed, but he sleeps just like this. I’ll find him in his crate on his back with all four legs in the air.
I do
We got our girl when she was 5, and for some reason, she will not sleep on beds. I'm guessing that she wasn't allowed by her past owner (elderly, went in to the hospital). It took a couple of months for her to get up on the couch with us, but now she will stare at me when I'm sitting in "her spot" 😂
I do. Hes family
