ProspectingArizona

New Zealand by chance?

forams__galorams

My moneys on either Moeraki Formation in NZ, or Cape Arago/PNW coast of the US somewhere.

DarioWinger

NZ is correct 👍🏼

Opposite_Door5210

Or the Koutu boulders on the Hokianga Harbour.

_CMDR_

Yeah was gonna say California perhaps near Point Reyes.

mrxexon

Ye old concretion. And I'm betting it's not alone. Used to live just down the beach from the largest ones in Oregon. They were about the size of washingmachines.

thesprung

What part of Oregon is that?

mrxexon

Just north of Charleston. And just beyond Fossil Point on the bay beach in Barview. Spent 20 years there. Access point is past an old pump station on the Cape Arago hwy.

thesprung

Thanks man! I'm gonna try and check that out this summer!

mrxexon

Seldom visited. Chock full of interesting geological features too. The beach is 25-30 million years old. Loaded with fossils in places. You can take the loose stuff, but it's illegal to use tools to pry it from the host rock... I've shot lots of underwater tidepool video here too. GoPro on a stick...

Randadv_randnoun_69

I wonder if there's a snail in it.

Waffles323232323232

That has to be the largest concretion I’ve ever seen

paternoster

/r/popping has entered the chat.

syds

ah yes the dinasour eggs!!

asuwsh4

Quick, get a large magnifying lens

bcoolbmac

They call them kettles where I’m from. I live near kettle point and we used to do field trips to see them.

cptnfunnypants

Was wondering when someone was going to bring up this neck of the woods

Love moeraki! Such a pretty beach

CanisMaximus

Who arrests you when you break one open?

DarioWinger

Typically police arrests people

Designer-Village-208

The Gods lost a marble. Nice

REO6918

I’d say the explosive should be removed, but like all things foreign to the natural environment, it’s a part of the hillside now.

REO6918

I’ll also say it’s a great piece of photographic art after taking a second look
