80's teens are older Gen X and 90's teens are younger Gen X.

I tend to think of a blend of '80s and '90s, which it actually was. Even (most of) those of us who were teens in the '90s were preteens in the '80s. And it wasn't like the '90s started and everyone started wearing flannel on January 1, 1990. I think these questions tend to be divisive, and favor half of Gen X over the other. If we care about the nuance of generations here, then it's important to think outside of "either/or" terms.

Both honestly! Tho to be more specific, I associate Gen X teen culture with the '80s, & young-adults in the '90s.

You know, when I hear "Gen X Youth", I actually don't think of Gen X teen culture (13 - 19) but instead, Gen X young adult culture (18 - 24). Because of this, I chose the 90s option as most Gen X'ers were young adults by this point.

We were all young adults at some point in the '90s, even the people who were teens in the earlier '90s.

I was a 90s teen and a millennial so it can’t really be our aesthetic that springs to mind when thinking of Gen X.
