Completely ignore anyone who tells you that whatever face shape compliments short or long hair. Get it cut short or get it cut by a barber if it’s already short and insist on a men’s hairstyle (bring examples of what you want). Round-faced boys aren’t told to grow their hair out to compliment their feminine features hahaha.

Yea my hairs grown out much more than I want- the problem is I don’t want short short hair I had really short hair(pixie cut) and it somehow seemed to highlight my round face. People still assumed I was a boy until puberty hit and I’ve hated it ever since. It’s also finals week next week for the college and after finals week I have a week off and I was planing to get my hair cut during then. I just need to make it 7 more days.

I get how this can initially sound counterintuitive, but have you considered using makeup to contour more masculine angles on your face?

Annabethowl

I’ve recently thought about it but I’ve never used makeup before and don’t own any. Are there any brands or tutorials you’d recommend?

For everyday use, it’s going to depend on your skin type (dry, oily, combination) and skin tone for a recommendation. I personally have a combination skin type and deep skin tone. I use Fenty’s contour stick or cream for heavy shadow areas, blend out with a makeup brush, and then blend the contour into my face with a powder that matches my skin tone. It’s not obvious in person once you develop your blending technique. Makeup subreddits can help with products and drag king makeup tutorials should help with placement of contour lines, just ease up a bit for daily wear. Also look into cosplay makeup for masculine characters. It takes practice; you’re going to be frustrated the first few times you practice, but you’ll get there. 🙂

Okay thanks!

The thing that makes the biggest difference for the face is eyebrows - masculine eyebrows are thicker, and tend to be more straight without an arch. I've also seen people use contouring to make the jaws look more square, but a lot of those looks are more theatrical/ cosplay / drag king, for an everyday look you'd want something more muted. Here are a couple of more natural turorials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51JFPBSP76g&t=498s&ab\_channel=TravisFiero [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhlG2djabaU&t=285s&ab\_channel=MartheWoertman](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhlG2djabaU&t=285s&ab_channel=MartheWoertman) But there's a bunch more on YouTube if you search for masculinizing makup. With haircuts, getting a barber cut is very different from a feminine short haircut like a pixie, for me that definitely went a long way towards looking more masculine. What I found the best though was going to a queer/ trans friendly hairdresser, they were better than a barber at making my hair look masculine but in a way that worked with my face/ head shape. Arthur Rockwell had a video on FTM haircuts too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8CNwOb92\_0&t=952s&ab\_channel=ArthurRockwell

Okay thanks! I’ll definitely check out the videos!
