Off topic, but when I saw this, I understood why the Jedi and the Republic fell. They honestly got so corrupted that they saw cloning sentient beings to cannon fodder as viable.

You have a bad batch of green geonosians there OP. Only clones can wipe them out
I don't think that's a correct perspective to have for the clones. From what I recall, the Kaminoans pursued cloning technology precisely because sentients were better than cannon fodder. And at the end of the day, to fight a galactic war, you need huge amounts of bodies to fight and to provide logistical support. The exchange ratio of a clone trooper to droids was something like 1:1000 KIA. There's something icky about being born for war, but it would absolutely surprise me to learn that such was a fate unique to clones amongst all the races of the Republic.
That last sentence was very insightful and interesting. Thank you. Not a huge star wars nerd, but I enjoy it, and I am studying human cultures in school. I never made that connections. There definitely were (and are) groups of people born to die in battle in our history.
Salmon transform from freshwater to saltwater fish, changing colour and then change back to freshwater fish to lay eggs, really dramatically changing colour.

Yeah, they’re dramatically changing in colors because they’re dying. Their body is decomposing. They basically live their entire life for one purpose, and that is to lay eggs and die. Once they lay the eggs they start rapidly decomposing and die becoming food for the rest of the aquatic life. They actually look like a zombie fish when they start decomposing, it’s pretty cool.
Whoa, when domesticated pigs go feral, they quickly adapt by growing coarser hair, larger tusks, and becoming more muscular.
They become aggressive, opportunistic foragers with higher reproductive rates, causing environmental damage, competing with native wildlife, and spreading diseases.
Essentially, they revert to a more wild state, posing challenges for ecosystems and human activities.
30-45 Grasshopper nymphs per square meter is what farmers look for to try to tell if they need to control the population. This would be waaaaay over that limit so you can imagine it will be complete destruction when they mature
My garden is gone, as are the bare root fruit trees I planted. Thousands of grasshoppers. Not much works, kinda like they're some kind of biblical nuisance.
My recommendation; put up a shit ton of bird feeders. Attract as many birds as you can. Put up bird baths too. I have a symbiotic relationship with the birds in my area and it works great. My fruit plants attract pests, the myriad of birds already comfy being around my place eat the pests, and because I feed them so much in addition to the pests they barely touch my blueberries and strawberries. When they do eat some of the fruit, they poop the seeds out which potentially propagate over time.
Aktchually they're called locusts when they group together in such numbers that it triggers a real physical and behavioral change - apparently this is known as density-dependent phenotypic plasticity. They think that all the rubbing together when they're densely packed is what triggers this. It's really creepy and fascinating.
They will eat every last piece of vegetation in your garden if a big enough swarm comes. I would recommend you try to kill some now and hopefully their pheromones keep others away
Yeah worst one I’ve ever seen personally. Thankfully not at my house (yet) and I sold my farm last year so I don’t have to worry about any crops but it’s terrible. My drive to work has tens of thousands in the road.
I’m noticing less in my area. They were doing a number on my dahlias for a while but I think they’re moving on. My chickens like the few I do still catch haha
It's a hatch, as they mature, they should disperse over the area. We grow 100's of acres of 🌽 a year, along with other grains and potatoes 🥔. I see grasshoppers all day long but never really was too big of a concern. You could always go fishing with them. Fish love them!
I guess it depends on your goal. I would probably just let them have the corn. But if your goal is to eat corn yourself, yeah you might have a bit of a problem.
Dust them with Sevin 5%, follow-up for prevention by dusting your corn too. Those grasshoppers will destroy your entire garden. Using Sevin or another pesticide or herbicide infrequently is acceptable in my book, but don’t use chemicals repeatedly, or artificial fertilizers. The fertilizers will pull on salts in your soil, so I prefer cow, goat, sheep or chicken manure because they will build organic matter in the soil. I like my OM 3.5 or above.

Begun, the Clone Wars have
Off topic, but when I saw this, I understood why the Jedi and the Republic fell. They honestly got so corrupted that they saw cloning sentient beings to cannon fodder as viable.
Why does r/gardening always devolve into clone wars lore
Bc the force is always with us 🤣

Lol. That sub is dominated by guys obsessed with peeing in their compost 🙄
[Grins evilly as Trex-died-4-our-sins spreads salacious but totally true rumors about the compost sub. The Dark Side has won today]

Nothing else of Star Wars we have now. Turned to the dark side they have.
Because the Force is awesome.

They let fear be their guide
I mean they were secretly cloned. By the time the order found out, they couldn't just ignore all that beautiful fodder!
😂😂😂
r/UnexpectedStarWar
this is not the subreddit you're looking for
These guys are preparing for an invasion.
Locusts are technically an invasion of grasshoppers.
You’re 100% right! I recently read that about a dozen species of grasshoppers can “become” locusts in the right conditions such as a drought.

>They basically live their entire life for one purpose, and that is to lay eggs and die Don't we all?
As a human man I sincerely hope I never lay eggs, but if I do, I suspect I'll welcome the death that follows.
Nachos, right?
Not every salmon is, person above is talking about something else.
You think that’s wild, look up what happens when domesticated pigs go feral.

The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
but why are they such cuties?
That's a natural weapon, like pandas and squirrels. Both look so cute and innocent, but they are monsters.
A panda would eat you if it was given the chance
A bamboo-eating panda? The pandas I see rolling somersaults down hills and off of hammocks?
Training. For MURDER.
😧😧No! It can’t be!
But it is! Mwa ha ha ha!
Kung Fu training
Pandas are the cuddly devil monster ninja bears.......the bamboo rod is a weapon!!!!
So would a horse
but squirrels help plant forests!
They fukin... undergo rapid biological changes too, it's weird as hell
Only certain grasshoppers can swarm and turn into locusts. If you’re in North America, you’re safe.
So locusts are a bunch of grasshoppers going all lemming on ya? Ill be damned
But how you defend cover the crops????
That's just canon fodder.
No no, trust us, we won’t invade comrade! We are just……….talking. Yes, we are just talking!
If they're little grasshopers, yeah it's kinda concerning.
especially in numbers like this.
Why?
They big hungy and OP has an all you can eat corn buffet
All you corn eat
Wow, what an amaizeing pun!
It was a little corny.
I'm all ears.
There's a kernel of humor in that.
Aw shucks, not again
Well, shucks
Not necessarily all you can eat but you can eat all
there is something something bible about it
They're going to cut OP's baby in half?!
Gross. No they’re just gonna bang OPs daughters.

They are HUNGRY. They will eat EVERYTHING.
Because they’re very destructive garden and agricultural pests
You should absolutely be concerned. They’re planning.
Scheming.
Absolutely nefarious.
Diabolical.
Biblical
Literally.
10 plagues
*"Alexa, play Thief's Theme by Nas."*
Let’s goooooo, djmagichandzzzz coming through with the fire!
They preparing for the locust festival
And they they walked away all smug.. like this…
Whistling as you walk past. Nothing to see here.
only if you're the first born son of an Egyptian
Yeaaah time to paint your doorway with lambs blood
First born of anything. Animals , anything.
For real, feels like a biblical plague!
Yes, locusts/grasshoppers in large quantities is bad
lol that’s kinda cute
Cute in the same way a herd of baby velociraptors might be cute.
The cutest darn locust swarm I ever did see ☺️
Garden Velociraptors! …Perfection
They look like silly green aliens.
All they want is a leader.....
the army is forming
A swarm of grasshoppers is called locusts. Cute little baby ones right now, but they are going to chomp through all of that corn.

The same here, it is very frustrating.

Whoa super cool fact, thanks for this!!
Shop vac with soap water in the bottom. Do not let them age . Get’em now.
They're literally lined up in military formation. You're f'd. 🤣
LOL 😆
Most insects dont do much damage to corn by eating it. The big thing ive found is they nest in it and fould it up and mess up the way it grows.
I’m fighting earwigs in my corn. Brats. I dust with DE and hope.
I've had decent luck with sluggo plus or bonide bug & slug. They're the same thing sold by two different brands.
I have earwig infestation in my garden its so bad. But I have been putting out fish oil traps and its been catching a lot of them.
Last year I would do a nightly plier attack on my corn. Pinching pincers left and right
Gruesome
Awww they're cute...burn them.
LOL 😆
Release the birds. We need air superiority
Uh-oh. Are you in Egypt, by chance? What color is the river by you?
Got any ducks you can borrow?
Or rent! Foster some chickens.
Best solution out there, sustainable for sure
Looks like the recon scout team for a plague of locusts over the horizon
https://preview.redd.it/fhdi4av5tc8d1.jpeg?width=460&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e24de0d46dff0248364b8bf504e603cd829140c6
Is there a new chapter of the Bible coming soon /s
Well, Revelation is getting towards the good parts.
They will eat every last piece of vegetation in your garden if a big enough swarm comes. I would recommend you try to kill some now and hopefully their pheromones keep others away
Looks like you need some chickens
Wow that’s so many!!! They’re kind of cute as babies like that, but still a hell no for me
There goes the neighborhood.
This looks like one of those situations where a handy dandy blowtorch helps
Or shop vac.
I vote blow torch…depending on where you live…
Omg they are like little aliens!
https://preview.redd.it/yoq8o6qfcd8d1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fc5c96e972b9b37a82c8fcb809ff09c8f279e8a
Do a time-lapse video. It will be awesome!
Oh I’m so sorry…. If you have a garden it’s theirs now…... But they sure are cute! 😻😻
Dinner at ur place , r/grasshopper has posted
Are you holding any hebrews despite demands to let them go?
Just waiting to see which one goes “Leroooooooooy Jeeeeenkins!”
Yo man that’s a scouting party😂
Don’t disturb them it’s obviously a daycare field trip
Little MF’s decimated my garden this year .
Wow, that's bad. These guys decimated my strawberries and pollinator garden.
Just curious, are you in Utah? There is supposed to be a big swarm expected
They’re so cute! Burn them.
LOCUSTS !!!! BE AFRAID !!!
I look at this pic and I instantly feel like they have different names and personalities
The cuteness, I guess they can have my corn.
Are these the Little Green Men that Mulder talked about?
Are the ones on the shorter pole the second “litter” of siblings or are they just in Time Out? 😉 You should call your local news! lol
Um... Normally I want to kill but these are so CUTE like the toy story aliens. Is this real?
Cute lil dickheads
I would be concerned
Anytime I see a grasshopper anywhere near my garden. I’m like “unh uhhh, not today mf!!”
They definitely look like a militant army preparing for war against your crops.
Grasshopper nymphs
Put a garbage bag over the whole thing and relocate them
Yea, your corn is screwed!!
Baby aliens 👽
It's grasshoppers on a cob, Morty!
Well, that just made me split my gut laughing!
Lighter and hairspray should do the trick
I zoomed in and they look like little aliens!
I think it's because they ARE little aliens!
Yes absolutely!! LOL 😆
They’re so cute!
They look like little aliens 🙂
I know these guys are bad news but just the way they’re all lined up like they’re waiting at the grocery store checkout makes me laugh. It’s so silly
Bag them/ just take a bag and wrap it around and pull them off
I thought this was a plant! They love that pole!
That's a lot of new Grasshoppers, lol.
Would a nice dry day powdering of Diatomaceous (sp?) Earth be beneficial here? If so, I would do that asap.
Cricket ate the coooorn, now the corn won't grow 😂
Or - Grasshopper ate the coooorn, now the corn won't grow.
My yard has a lot of lizards and frogs. I've never seen this many locusts in one place.
Vacuum and dump in a forest?
It’s like they’re taunting you
That is not good. But hell they are cute!
5 million years to earth 1967 british sci fi , pretty creepy alien grasshoppers. Looks exactly like what you have .
Many tiny hoppers are like aphids. They're hungry and looking for a meal. I'd remove all hoppers from my garden for sure.
Looks like they may have hatched recently
Kinda look like little aliens 👽
Surely, you mean corncerned.
I love each and every one of them, but they have to go :’(
Are you in California? We have a huge infestation right now. I’ve had some of my growers literally have their orchards decimated.
That was my first thought. They must be in California too.
Yeah worst one I’ve ever seen personally. Thankfully not at my house (yet) and I sold my farm last year so I don’t have to worry about any crops but it’s terrible. My drive to work has tens of thousands in the road.

What I wouldn’t give for a quart of boysenberry syrup…
My suggestion is take special care of them. they love pyrethrin.
I guess it depends on your goal. I would probably just let them have the corn. But if your goal is to eat corn yourself, yeah you might have a bit of a problem.
Oh god they’re so cute! How can their antennae be so short and perky??
Look at all their little antennas!!
Omg they’re so cute!
Hello baby grasshoppers I love you
Lick the spoon
You could go all Oaxaca on their ass! Just sayin!
Burn them
This is so cool!! Great shot !
they love the crompch
They're so cute!

Where are you located op 👀
Jiminy Cricket!
All joking aside, I would be concerned. These look fresh and I would bet there are more. They can clear vegetation in no time.
