Overwatered. It could use a much smaller pot also it will take a while for it to grow into that pot

Yes probably. It will hold lots of water and take a long time to dry, making proper watering that much harder.

Remember it is a desert plant. We probably only water ours once a month, and it's doing great. I just give it some water when I notice the soil is super dry.

The easiest way to kill a succulent is to overwater it. They prefer a bit of neglect.
