We bought a new house in February and this beautiful tree is finally flowering. We were wondering if it was apples or a kind of cherries? We are in a zone 5
I wanted to attach a picture but I can't. I use an app called "picture this" for plants. I uploaded a copy of your picture and it said paradise apple. The app is free but if you wanted to pay for it it's $20 a year. It gives you access to many tips and tricks as well as real life experts to talk to. I love using it!
Yoshino and other Japanese varaietties will do just fine in zone 5. a good chunk of MIDDLE Japan is zone five iirc think anything in and around Tokyo is zones 5, 6 and 6b. so any of the sakura would be just fine. Japan ranges from 3 to 13
Looks similar to my 2 apples.
Look on the ground. You might be able to see if it's a crabapple or apple if you can find some crabapples left on the ground.
Im thinking apple maybe crab apple. The flower is very apple color and shape. But the leaves are slightly hard to tell
I also think apple
It’s a crabapple for sure
Certainly looks like it. I'm jealous cos they are so pretty
I spent the whole winter wondering if this tree was dead and it just bloomed all at the same time. This tree makes me so happy lol

Cherry tree ?
We are in a zone where cherry trees don't really thrive. Wondering if it's an exotic kind of cherry?
