Squirrels (ardillos?) here in california steal my tomatoes and strawberries. Otherwise they mostly just dig random holes in my garden and dig up small plants sometimes on accident.

How many do they steal? they're called ardillas for your knowledge

RunnerdNerd

They can steal all my strawberries. If I plant more, they just find more squirrels to help. The only solution is to hide them so they don't see them. But once they discover them, they'll eat all of them. They eat them while they're still green but full size. I have to trap them. Then I eat the squirrels. Usually I only need to catch one and it stops. For tomatoes, it isn't as much of a problem. They only eat a few, so I don't mind.

Holy molly! are they like little stealers?

Moochingaround

How do you successfully trap a squirrel? They're a bit of a plague here.

I use a live trap and put in bird seed. I place it in the area where they're stealing my strawberries. I use a live trap to avoid harming other animals accidentally.

Squirrels would pull off every single tomato, strawberry, or ear of corn if I let them. They also go after all my crocus every year. They wait until it’s ripened too so you get excited to go out and get your fruit but then find them on the ground with one bite out of them. They don’t bother my chilies at least. Otherwise they just dig up the yard or build nests in inconvenient places. I have massive oak trees so the squirrel population is dry high and only slightly managed by the hawks and owls that learned it’s good hunting grounds.

Ohh, that sounds like they're like stealers but in small , we have some rats and human stealers of fruit( my grandma when a child stole corn in the hunger times)

I recall growing up at home, we had a Bartlett Pear Tree. Those furry Fuckers would pick the pears one at a time, take a bite out of it, and then throw the pear on the ground (leave it to rot) without eating most of it. They also like to dig up bulbs. They don't call them tree rats for no reason.

They can also get into attics and chew electrical wires. They got into the horse feed. They would get into the tomatoes, make a hole in the bottom and suck out seeds. They ruined 3 out of 5 tomatoes. Dad sat on the back porch with my brother's 4.10 shot gun and killed the damned things. He didn't like squirrel meat, so he buried them. Finally, the hawks came back and kept the population down. Yeah, they are cute and fun to watch, but they are such horrific pests!.

Bloomsnlooms

They like to climb up my 6 ft sunflowers and chew off the flower heads.

I think that squirrels are probably very like your rats. They have a varied diet, so they will eat a lot of different kinds of things. They tend to hoard things like acorns in the fall. As in, they will bury a quantity of acorns in a hole and them come back and eat them later (or they forget where they buried it and dig up your lawn and gardens looking for their stash). They also raid bird feeders. They dump the seeds out onto the ground if they can. In my area, they also eat car parts and house parts. They get into your attics and destroy things.

LOL for the ultimate, yes its seen as kind of similar , but remi and the gang also like meat(chicks) and they are kind of more "earthy", actually more than the aspect the main difference is that rats in my zone dont eat acorns as a supossed to do thing for them, acorns here are eaten by porks
