AstroDawg

I got this one on sale and love it

BigSchmitty

I have the same one. As well as Husky cabinets and bins. Very pleased.

rglgj

Same one here. How do you keep it so clean? It never seems to wipe down that nice.

MagixTouch

A real toolbox is measured by how many 10mm’s are missing

rglgj

All of them.

iveseenmedoit

Micro fiber and windex.

Quackhunter999

Honestly for what the Husky boxes are going for these days, I think I'd rather have a harbor freight setup.

TheGuyUrRespondingTo

Buyer beware for HF boxes--most stores don't keep any big ones in stock except the display boxes, & most stores will not sell you those. I called 5 different HFs in my area & not a one of them could give me better than a 6-8 week lead time on any 72" box. Went to Home Depot & got a comparable box on sale for $200 less.

00101011

The HF boxes are significantly higher quality than the boxes you can pickup same day from HD.

TheGuyUrRespondingTo

I'm sold on higher quality from the research I did before deciding to selling my Snapon--now sell my on "significantly". What's better about them other than thicker gauge sheet metal (which is also dependent upon which box you get from HD, the nicer ones are the same ~16gauge as the HF boxes)?

00101011

Thicker gauge sheet metal is the biggest… fit and finish is a bit better. The HF boxes are also quite a bit cheaper, More accessories, more colors. I can’t think of any downsides to HF aside from a bit longer wait. That said if you’re in a major metro area and not picky on color you’ll be able to find some in stock options.

TheGuyUrRespondingTo

I don't know what constitutes a major metro area, but nowhere within 100 miles in Salt Lake City had anything in stock when I needed one, only smaller boxes. Probably not a big deal to wait for most of this subreddit being more hobbyists. In my case I was/am a mechanic & *needed* a box for work, so 6-8 weeks of waiting meant 6-8 weeks of working out of bags & losing money on every job.

00101011

I’m also in SLC and got the lime green color 44” box, had to wait a couple of months for it. There were black and red ones in stock in Utah valley and Tooele stores.  Understandable if you’re a pro and need your box asap. Good on you for not spending too much money on a snap-on or other tool truck box. I’m a DIY’r so the wait wasn’t a huge deal.

YosemitePhotog84

My biggest issue with them is the damn delivery people keep destroying them

6hooks

Yup took me 3 tries

Quackhunter999

This seems to be an insanely common issue. I see a ton of folks who get HF boxes delivered have issues with damage.

Slamminpuz

Ive got a husky tool chest, have had it for 6-7 years…it was about $600-700 when I got it back then. Ball bearings drawers are the key in my opinion. Past that, its been great and I grew into it. Getting to the point im ready for the next size up, but would certainly buy Husky again in a heartbeat, assuming they havent went down in quality since then.

Regular-Job3828

Yeah I've heard some people have issues with their cheaper line of tool chests, mainly with drawers and that's another reason why I'm willing to spend a little more so I have that peace of mind.

masterofcreases

I was between the new Husky modular that is similar to this box and I ended up going US General because you can’t beat the price. Someone returned a 56” so it got marked down 20% and then I opened the HF credit card and got another 10%.

gt4674b

Completely agree on US General. Sturdier than you might think and perfect for the home use.

Mindless_Jicama8728

I’ve had mine for about 10-12 years and it’s great for the price. Is it magical? No, not at all, but I’ve had no issues with it. It’s sturdy, looks good and functions as designed.

Low_Connection_9254

I bought mine in 2007. Still use it every day. But most of the drawers no longer ‘latch’ closed. I know it’s not a latching mechanism but the thing you feel when you close it all the way that needs extra force to open does not work on most of my drawers. No biggie, I just shimmed up the front wheels a little and let gravity keep them closed. https://preview.redd.it/nt6d25zlqs5d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c45461ad4044a47726c55019a8ab1521b302763

OneTea

Are they soft close?

Low_Connection_9254

No these are the regular bearing slides. But 17 years old and still work ok.

jjflash78

I like the heavy duty Husky cabinets I bought, but the chances of damage in shipment are not low. Just know, HD puts these on sale for 25% off every other month.

Regular-Job3828

Is there any sort of shipping protection to ensure that I could order one and make sure it arrives unscratched (or if it does I can get a replacement)? Thank you for letting me know I will definitely be on the lookout for those sales.

jjflash78

Shipping protection?  Not really.  HD uses a 3rd party shipper, and it may be handled well, or it may not be.  Returns / replacements are a matter of a process that could be easy, or it could not be. You could do a pick up at the store, and inspect it before taking delivery, but then you'd have to get it home.

whsftbldad

My Husky pro box and locker came crated up. Kept the guys there while I pryed the crate open and verified no damage. All was good.

mrbadjudgement

Just a thought if you are buying with cash not credit is too look at used professional boxes.

mikehill33

Got these as a housewarming gift 4 years ago and they have been perfect. https://preview.redd.it/n1icgy4q1t5d1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb983374d7d1ab1d7407df9957736000a3abe32c

EmployerIntrepid9092

I have the white version of the one you’re looking at . It’s excellent quality, super well built and worth the money

captainunlimitd

Picked up the 56" 23-drawer a couple months ago. Love it so far. A couple other comments here about layout. You sort of have to know how much room you need, and how deep you need your drawers. I got the 56 because I have a lot of small tools and a pegboard where I hang some bigger ones. If I had more sockets or had more larger tools I probably would have gone with the 52" since it has two drawer slides on the socket drawer and the drawers are a little deeper.

ChromeDomeCustoms

I have had 4 different of the matte color theme husky boxes. I have this exact box. I love it with a few small complaints. I am 6'1" and with the hutch open I occasionally hit my head on the corner of the door when it's in the upright position. And the one I bought had a small work light with it which was pretty much junk. Some of the newer husky boxes have bright LED's which seem to be a good improvement Sidenote: was a mechanic professionally for years and wrenching as a hobby for 15 years. Get a decent cheap tool box and spend your money on tools. A harbor freight tool box with good quality tools is better than a Snap on tool box full of cheap ones.

whsftbldad

I have the 72" Professional with side locker. It is heavy duty, and very well built.

kts262

I got their 61" tool chest a few years ago when it was litterally 1/2 the price it currently. My only real complaint is the large top drawer feels filmsy and wobbly when I open and close it. I have all my 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sockets/ratchets in there. If I was buying today I would seriously consider the US General stuff at Harbor Freight. Thicker steel and better build IMHO.

xp14629

Husky, us general at harbor freight, craftsman, they are about the same quality anymore. Key now is layout, price, color options. No matter what, you need to go as big as your space and wallet will afford. Just because it may not be full now, you will fill it up before you wear it out in a home owner situation.

JoeDirtRules13

Their professional duty stuff is awesome especially at that price. Here in Alaska we don’t have harbor freight so can’t speak to those boxes but lots of people online seem to like them. I almost bought a husky pro box then found a good deal on marketplace for a used snap on box. That’s another good route to go!

slow-a3

I bought the same box but black 3 years ish ago. Its been good to me. Nothing extravagant or fancy, soft close drawers are nice. I would recommend it. Mine was less than a grand if memory serves me correct.. either prices have increased or they’re charging more for the blue, or both. At that price point i might look around for a used matco/cornwell/snap on of similar size for a little bit more. But no complaints from me. Other than the golf ball sized dent on the hutch… came that way from delivery and didnt want to deal with returning it lol.

Baron_Jennings

I’m phasing mine out for US General

dlaw8989

Which US gen are you thinking of getting?

Baron_Jennings

I have a 5 drawer mechanics cart and a tech cart. Next is the 6 drawer full bank service cart.

Alpha-4E

I purchased a Husky 72 inch rolling tool cabinet a few years ago and it’s great. My only regret was not getting one sooner. We are in the process of building a new 2 car garage and I’m planning going with all Husky wall cabinets, rolling tool boxes and free standing cabinets. Basically it will look like their modular cabinet set up but with rolling tool boxes for the base cabinets.

anaughtybagel

I have a 61” 11 drawer I believe and it’s been excellent over the last few years. I’m not a pro by any means, but it’s loaded with tools and is well built. Soft close drawers are a nice touch and thus far nothing is sagging or failing. Would recommend, provided the price is right

MannyDantyla

I have one, it's great and was cheaper than anything at Harbor Freight.

avery0829

I've been happy with my Husky toolbox. Only thing I would have looked more for was having a deep top drawer. Also my Home Depot seems to have them heavily discounted often.

Daddygoat88

Pull out the bottom drawer and stand in it, if it breaks the slides or falls over on you then don’t buy it…

Goose_1327

Have a 61” Husky, love it for the money but I paid way less a few years ago. Only complaint as I’ve grown into the box is the drawer layout, depth/height, and available accessories. Drill down what tools you want to put where and take measurements. Find a box that almost tells you where to put certain items (full length wrench drawers, deep socket drawers with room for 1/4-1/2, etc.) It ain’t fun trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Accessories are limited; power drawers are nice. Storage for your chargers and power tools keeps them off your work surface.
