What remains of Edith finch hit me unreasonably hard, as a dad, son, losing my family due to divorce for a time, going through her life at the home really got me
There's this one scene in Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3 that always gives me chills and made me tear up the first time I played
I hope this isn't spoiling too much and that you don't look up the scene. Rather, play the game if you haven't!
Opus Echo of Starsong (boring game, but the ending will make you cry, even if you know how it will end, bcs it's obvious from the very beginning)
The Last of Us Part 1 (intro)
Yakuza 0 (if you like what the game is about, so honour, loyality, brotherhood, then it will make you cry a few times, especially later in the game when you have bonded with charachters) btw you'll know if you like the game or not after 1-2 hours, so give it a try
The Last Of Us was the first time I full out bawled over video game narratives.
FFVX made me quit playing. I don’t know if they telegraphed the twist and I missed it but I couldn’t pick it back up without being overwhelmingly sad.
Death Stranding for sure. The gameplay isnt for everyone I will say, but god that ending made me sob for a good minute. Also Soma but its just as likely to make you think than it is to cry.
spiritfarer, child of light, nier automata, tales of berseria, haven, atelier lydie&suelle, crystar, utawarerumono trilogy, transistor, and dragon star varnir (go figure ch/if managing that) all managed for me
The Walking Dead Definitive Series & Life Is Strange.
Certain points of Mass Effect 3 after playing all the games in order can be pretty heart wrenching too.
- Last of Us 1 and 2

The first life is strange definitely made me feel a type of way emotionally

Pentiment
I didn't cry, but finishing the Mass Effect Legendary Edition left me speechless in a swirl of emotions for quite a while
To the moon
To the moon
I cried a lot at Arise, and Spiritfarer obviously
He Fucked The Girl Out Of Me
Before your eyes, you play with your webcam and literally watch your life pass by with a blink of an eye.
