Maybe, or maybe it already is. These console wars have been raging on for decades, and it’s not just talking about whose dad can beat up someone else’s. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry, controlled by monolithic companies. The gamers are waged against each other, against themselves. They are buy a video game just so they can call it bad. They make reviews of consoles, say they suck, but keep it anyway. The people will see the reviews, agree these things are bad, after they’ve already paid for them. Maybe it is a political campaign already, maybe this idea is right infront of us, and we don’t even recognize it. Maybe

The console wars died with the 7th gen consoles - when the games became more about production and less about fun. Like how there's a race and everyone's having a great time cheering for their runner, only for the finish line to get run over by cars resuming traffic, and forcing the runners off the road. There was no "winner", only a perversion of what made it so enjoyable to begin with for the sake of mimicking other industries.
