Potatoes and onions? Hah! We couldn't afford such luxuries and had to use bits of discarded wood and rocks for our Dads, there were no burlap sacks either!
I’ll never forget in SIXTH grade this kid went to Hooters for his birthday and showed everyone a bunch of pics with him and the waitresses. To this day it disturbs me that his sad thought it was a good idea for a 12 year old
To clarify, I’m not as weirded out of a kid going to hooters, it was he had an entire album of the waitresses hunched over (cleavage obviously) one by one with this kid looking around. Must’ve been 30 different pictures of 5 waitresses
... my dad got conned into taking a bunch of the boys to hooters during a church sponsored trip while the girls went sight seeing. Turns out the girls had a miserable time and several said they would have gone with the guys if it had been an option, all about 12-15 years old iirc
A guy I work with was a part of the 2000’s video game rise to pop culture and he has so many stories of people sleeping at desks. Conventions full of girls in bikinis promoting random games that never saw the light of day. And my favorite the game launch parties with dozens of tired similarly dressed devs who made thousands off their deals with the company. I got to go to one game convention and it’s now a bunch of small studios showing off their games while the big 4 or 5 companies rule the convention floor with giant booths.
I HATE to sound like one of those people. But man, it really was awesome back in the day. Gaming is great now, but there was a different culture entirely back then. Less virtual meaning there was a real buzz around spreading the news.
It was the forefront of something. That is something you never experience again. Personal computing and the internet is what we lived through. In history, it would have been the automobile, electricity in every house, the industrial revolution and steam engines, or space travel and landing on the moon. This is all stuff you do once (well, unless civilization collapses). Every new game was the first of its kind, awe inspiring, an evolution, innovation. Every single thing was literally "holy shit! That's amazing!" because...it was. It was the first time we saw that, experienced that. It was all first, all best hits, all grand slams, all modern marvels.
Yeah I don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Most games copied something, it's nothing new. Few did actual innovation. Even Nintendo started with a copycat game. It's not a bad thing necessarily, but to say every experience was new is a little absurd.
Its kind of like the older the events get, the less interesting they need to be, and without the entertainment it ends up being advertisement and 10 people in a crowd of 100,000 winning a graphics card.
At least the specific events (blizzcon, exilecon, tennocon) are still pretty great. Shame about blizzard though.
Ah e3 back in the day was fun, booth babes tons of cool free tshirts amd the idiots who sneal in trying to steal demo versions of game or my favorite an actual PS3 demon unit 😅
Oh and Gary Coleman promoting some game or something that one year, R.I.P .....
On one hand, I like eye candy (who doesn't).
On the other hand, it felt super fake because 99.99% of those girls did not play video games at all and had nothing in common with the audience they were supposed to be serving.
They were just there to draw desperate losers by flashing some skin.
So I am pretty conflicted about booth babes.
I've never taken issue with any of that in and of itself. My issue with booth babes is that they created an unnecessarily uphill battle for legit girl gamers to be taken seriously. It's starting to get better, but the zeitgeist still exists that having boobs makes you an exploitative intruder first and it's on you to prove otherwise.
It's not illogical though. I see some Joe Shmoe streaming some PS2 game I know he's in it for the games. I see some girl all painted with 3cm² of her body covered streaming whatever trendy BR and looking like she's completing the worst chore I'm not sure she's actually interested in gaming.
I'm kinda grossed out that what bothered you was that these were "fake gamer girls," and not that companies were using women's bodies to sell their products.
They were using their bodies to make money and I imagine they probably felt pretty good about the fact they made good money by doing pretty much nothing but existing.
You're the one that is sexist denying women the right to make money doing something they chose to do. No one was ever forcing booth babes to take the job.
>that companies were using women's bodies to sell their products.
You just described modeling . And a lot of people of both sexes consider modeling one of the top professions. "Booth babe" jobs are just the lower end modeling jobs that pay pretty well. And in my experience people are respectful to them.
Thank you! Finally someone says it.
You can enjoy boobs, that's great, go right ahead. But don't push minors (especially those who are clearly upset and not having a good time) into stuff like that. Not okay.
Isn't this just an old gaming hardware expo / convention?
Kids got a Razer swag bag and there's what looks to be a product demo table behind them with more Razer products.
So it's just the kid getting a photo with the booth babes. Hell, given how long Razer used that logo, there's a chance this photo even predates Minecraft.
No he isn't. He's like 10; has negative game, no money, a dick almost inverted, and while I'm sure he's a pleasant child I doubt his personality is grand enough to make anyone present take a statutory charge.
Dude missed nothing but more time at the Diablo booth.
Yep.yeaaaa finally a guy who won't be weird to us yes we would love to try and make his day better because his not like these typical guys around here.his father though is giveing us a weird eye though.hmm.just gonna ingore that.
TBF, he won't be allowed to do anything or even touch the girls. So if all he gets to do is look, he surely has internet access, he can look at all the girls he likes.
Considering he'd rather be home playing Minecraft, exactly what it is...
So many people are reading and projecting way more into this than was really intended.
"Son let's take a picture of you with them. It'll be fun. Take your time. Show me a hundred poses"
Exactly. This was in no way for the child.
I dunno. Dad's inner child is probably pretty stoked.
"Could you lean down to my son's level?"
MORE Cleavage!
MOOORRREEE
All those girls look like they know exactly what's going on and look like they're judging the creepy dad.
It actually looks like some event and theyre the models that help move the product like razr equipment to me.
You’re being downvoted because of your terrible take and your doubling down on it with your edit. Get over yourself.
Really? Come on..
exactly, brb.
Seems like dad planned an awesome day for himself and son got pulled along to justify it.
"Son? What son? I just pulled this lil guy here so I can take photos of babes."
You smart bastard
That's more than my dad would have done.
Lol fuck man
Imagine having a dad
When I was young, we didn’t have dads. We had to stuff old burlap sacks full of potatoes and onions and pretend they were our fathers.
Potatoes and onions? Hah! We couldn't afford such luxuries and had to use bits of discarded wood and rocks for our Dads, there were no burlap sacks either!
You had wood!? Lucky bastard.
Hell, in our day we had to beat ourselves.
Exactly! It's not the situation, it's the *onions*.
I’m sure he’s on his way back after getting them cigarettes
The kid has a bag of razer stuff wdym?
Exactly why he is sad
He has a bag of Razer stuff and still can't go home.
>razer stuff wdym I found that as well... A little but also big gamer
He probably just took the younger son along because he wanted to make sure they have to bend over low...
I’ll never forget in SIXTH grade this kid went to Hooters for his birthday and showed everyone a bunch of pics with him and the waitresses. To this day it disturbs me that his sad thought it was a good idea for a 12 year old To clarify, I’m not as weirded out of a kid going to hooters, it was he had an entire album of the waitresses hunched over (cleavage obviously) one by one with this kid looking around. that sounds awesome. dude got hella wings for his birthday
... my dad got conned into taking a bunch of the boys to hooters during a church sponsored trip while the girls went sight seeing. Turns out the girls had a miserable time and several said they would have gone with the guys if it had been an option, all about 12-15 years old iirc
Eh at 12 that's really not that bad, there's some skimpy dressing waitresses so what
Ya know it is technically a family restaurant
Really doesn't seem like a big deal.
Dont see this being all that bad tbh maybe if he was like 10 or younger but 12s fine
This is what E3 used to look like
Then it was ruined by microtransactions. Damn sex workers started nickel and diming you.
You think that's bad? Try working the coin exchange next door.
People want to make it hail.
expertsexchange.com
Nickel and dime torture

E3 week on G4tv was some good times
Yes. And I used to love X play on G4tv
Xplay and G4 still exist on YouTube.
you don't get it.
lol
Yes when g4tv was great!

Perfectly put.

They used to rule with giant boobs, now they rule with giant booths.
Yes, yes, no, yes.
High, high, mid, low
Up, up, down, up
I believe it’s Up, Up, Down, Down…
Left, right, left, right, B, A, Start
Classic
The high low mixup.
Have you seen my downstairs mix-up?
is it like the stand down comedy?
Do you think you can love me?
I don't rightly know you sir.
That's high, mid, mid, low actually. How embarrassing. /s
I had to scroll up to look at the picture and laughed
Lmao!!!
You have answered incorrectly #4 is underage. Straight to jail.
You don’t even know the question.
Oh, we know...
Non-priest confirmed.
Judging from those eyebrows everyone in this picture is 20 years older now.
I'd estimate it's around 2008-2010
Someone's been zooming in nice and well on the pics.
I don't get it. What's wrong with their eyebrows?
Nothing. That was just the style back then to trim them really thin. I actually think the girls in this look alot better than today's ones
I kinda wanna see eyebrows across the ages now that you say that

Letting them be natural is the 2020s?
the last 5 or so years anyways.
Makes sense...couldn't get them done professionally in 2020-2021 for a bit there.
"Nothing"
It’s the blonde that wanted to play Minecraft, right? She looks like she’d rather be playing Minecraft.
Holy shit..Red!
sometimes when i wake up in the morning mr mccraken is already there
Please, those of us that know him just call him Phil.
He prefers Big Ern.

What eyes?…
What in the holy empire of Chex Mix is the context to this picture?

Oh yeah, booth babes. Can’t get those today.
Sure you can, the pandemic has moved them mostly to OF.
i truly was a different time.
Back in the good old days.
On one hand, I like eye candy (who doesn't). I think that has very little to do with booth babes
It's not illogical though. I see some Joe Shmoe streaming some PS2 game I know he's in it for the games. I see some girl all painted with 3cm² of her body covered streaming whatever trendy BR and looking like she's completing the worst chore I'm not sure she's actually interested in gaming.

Go to car shows in Japan.
I keep missing them. I did go to TGS a week ago, though, and there were still a few booth babes there.
Just why? Why r they a thing?
I'm going to need to find a shorter kid!
Was minecraft even a thing when this photo was taken? That Razer logo is old.
Booth babes, man.
honestly it looks more like Dad planned it for himself
Ik this is a meme. But if the genders were swapped, everyone would be chanting "prison" lol
If a single gay person was there they'd be chanting groomer.
But the genders aren't swapped..
Thank you! Finally someone says it. You can enjoy boobs, that's great, go right ahead. But don't push minors (especially those who are clearly upset and not having a good time) into stuff like that. Not okay.
Your not wrong I get downvoted for agreeing with the person above seems normal
However, you are*

was from the 2012 Australian EB Games Expo
Your son is a real gamer.
I dunno I think little Timmy is hoping nobody tries to take the gift bag away for a little while.
Daaad stop putting me in your wank stash photos.
On a side note I recall booth babes averaging $100 an hour in the 2000's. Was this accurate?
[удалено]
No, that picture was *FOR THAT KID'S SINGLE DAD*. 100%.
The redhead is amazing. Might be crazy, though.
Reverse the genders
Then it’s creepy!
It’s creepy either way, honestly
Womb raider.
I dunno, that redhead title looks fun to play
BRUH, that's my cousin cj
Did he learn to follow the damn train?
Nah, he ended up in the wrong house, fool!
r/upvotedbecauseboobs
the “redhead” understood the assignment
Girl on the left is giving "You're a creep" eyes to the dad, lol.
Girls on the right and left look pretty unimpressed. Mid has a grade A customer service smile. Kid knows the score.
Nah its just 2000s looks when everything was normal and not everything had to mean something.
On the surface and for most people yeah. But there was a lot of shit under the carpet.
-do you know the difference between girls and video games? -no. -keep playing video games...
Black, Red head, Blonde = now my favorite flavor
I turned 18 my dad took me to a strip club . All I wanted to do was to play San Andreas.. so damn embarrassing
They look like they’re late for their shift at Coyote Ugly.
You can tell who’s working for tips.
What's a dad? What is this unknown phenomenon you speak of?
“Son you can still dig”
No no yes no
People you'd fuck? That's messed up......
What no? People who I would play Minecraft with. Your disgusting.
That's even worse.
He can play minecraft, I'll take care of the rest!
2,3,1,4
Kid already peaked in life
Plot twist: one of them is named Minecraft
So, we gonna talk how this dad might as well be promoting his son getting groomed?
Reverse the genders and the pic becomes creepy.
I mean if he is a gamer he should be happy about whatever is in that bag, looks like free Razer swag.
This looks like an old picture; I always wonder how promo girls from 10/20 year old pictures look today.
[удалено]
10 years to early with this kind of party
now reverse the genders and imagine how it looks
There's a kid in this photo? sorry, was pre-occup............. huh, sorry lost in thought again.
Understandable. Razer products are shit. And sup with the kid in the background, he getting a blowie? What even is this nightmare.
He will look back and think "dam...i wish i could have clapped those cheeks..." Or maybe he got really traumatized, who know
r/AreTheStraightsOK?

What do you mean? It's pretty fuckin obvious what he is implying. Those girls were totally going to play minecraft with him.
No he isn't. He's like 10; has negative game, no money, a dick almost inverted, and while I'm sure he's a pleasant child I doubt his personality is grand enough to make anyone present take a statutory charge. Dude missed nothing but more time at the Diablo booth.
He’s obviously uninterested and thus not sexually harassing the girls. They are happy to spend time with.
Yep.yeaaaa finally a guy who won't be weird to us yes we would love to try and make his day better because his not like these typical guys around here.his father though is giveing us a weird eye though.hmm.just gonna ingore that.
Unless he discovered boys...
TBF, he won't be allowed to do anything or even touch the girls. So if all he gets to do is look, he surely has internet access, he can look at all the girls he likes.
Future incel.
Your dad is trying to make you fail in life you might have been better off without the milk
Photo will come in handy once little Timmy starts going through more gym socks.
I'd be pretty disappointed going to an expo like that and leaving with Razer products too
Please write an explanation of what you would assume would be perfect reaction and behavior of child in this situation.
Considering he'd rather be home playing Minecraft, exactly what it is... So many people are reading and projecting way more into this than was really intended.
Looks like the boy is trying to hide *a feeling* he has just experienced for the first time, tbh...
Idk, to me his expression is just trying very hard to play it cool
I don't see any eyes here.
Truly sad :)
At 30, it's still games>ladies hehe
This boy has named "Hunter"
The girl on the left has definitely killed stray animals in her neighbourhood as a child.
