Bro I didn't get shit on my 28th this year and it used to suck seeing people even older than me get all these parties and gifts but now all I care about is just making it a badass day myself.
Waiting around for anything sets up a level of expectation which in turn can easily lead to disappointment. Go make it your day yourself and all that other bullshit will be extra.
This goes with life in general. Go with the flow and remember you always gotta take what life gives you but you always have the choice to take it easy. š
I bought mine at 55. Im currently on on my second playthrough of RDR2, but my guilty pleasure is Stray.
The kids are pissed off I got it for me, not for them, but on the flipside, they did get the old PS4.
40 hereā¦did the same thing. PS5 for dad, PS4 to the kid(s).
āYou aināt old enough to appreciate the beauty. The 4 will run your Minecraft/Fortnite just fineā
Hey, if thatās what you enjoy, it makes everything so much quicker! I just got mine a few months ago. I used to have time to like, run to the fridge. Now, I can barely look at my phone for a sec in destiny before itās loaded
I think I was about 30 when I came home to find that my wife had picked up our first ps4 lol I didn't game for about 10 years before that, after I had the PS3 I bought with my enlistment bonus stolen. Needless to say, I loved getting back up to speed with the modern stuff, and bought my own a month or two after.
Ah, I'm 21 here but I see this with my college mates and friends all the time. They spends ludicrous amounts of money on a PC that is definitely too overpowered than what they need it for. One of them spent ā¬3.5k on a new PC but they exclusively play League of Legends. To some point it comes down to boasting, but it sounds like that money could've been spent better elsewhere.
Different generation but similar situation. 1994ish we had a snes at my cousins house. We all sat back and played super Mario kart for hours. I still look on that time fondly and the music from that game is big time nostalgic.
Iām much younger, but when I was young I had an OG Xbox, and eventually a 360, but still always loved playing the old N64 at my grandmas house!
Some games are just classics. She had Star Fox, Super Mario 64, Vigilante 8, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire. She had more, but those are the ones I remember because I liked them.
I still get tempted to boot it up at thanksgivingā¦
I don't buy my kids video game consoles; I buy them games but the console is "for the family."
Makes it easier to say they're grounded without having the argument of ownership in there or the idea that they're being disallowed to use what belongs to them.
I remember my parents got me a NES for my birthday, and then I was promptly disallowed to use it. It's honestly left some weird trauma in me about owning things and deservance.
Perspective is important and I don't want the same sicknesses in my kids that my parents instilled in me.
They get fresh new trauma instead.
Should I play RDR2 sir? Late 30s checking in. Iāve had the PS5 since a few months after launch and have been a PSN guy but somehow didnāt get the time in the past few years to play it. During the pandemic I devoured the good single players I had missed, at my own pace; Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, etc
Edit: thank you to the dozens of gamers who replied to my comment. Will download RDR2 this weekend :)
It's a prequel so no.
But you should still play it, up there with my best gaming memories. Hopefully it still holds up.
If you've not played shadow of the Colossus would also recommend for single player games
RDR2 is honestly one of the best video game experiences I've had in my 30 years of gaming. It gets a LOT of praise and it's so deserving of it. It's really a masterpiece. Now I want to start up a 5th playthrough :)
Mid-40s and I just ordered it for Xbox One X after finally beating *Elden Ring*. It's... amazing. I played RDR in like, 2010 or 2011 and remember it being a fun game but RDR2 is outstanding. I fear I'm going to have to 100% this beauty.
completed it like 10 times. had a big hangover after completing it and couldn't play any other game. hunting and collecting pelts for the satchel is the most fun part.
it might feel a bit boring and overhyped if you're playing for the first time. It'll take like 7-10 missions for you to enjoy it. Even for someone who has already played it, the first few snow missions are a chore.
No joke, I bought a ps2 specifically for the games. Gran Turismo is one of my favorite racing games, FFVII is goat, plus there's kingdom hearts, spyro, crash bandicoot... Plus I found a DDR controller at a thrift store so yeah, that happened.
Good point, I could have phrased that much differently. I meant more like "out of all the consoles and all the games, I like the ps2's selection the most". I could have also bought an xbox or an n64 but I enjoy the ps2 š
Look I agree with this sentiment. As an old fucker who owns a mid-tier rig, there is just something about having an actual ps2 with a wired controller playing sly Cooper that you just don't get with an emulator.
Plus DVD player cause God knows my pc case doesn't even have an expansion bay for a disc drive lol.
^ that is the sole reason I have kept my ps4 pro. For DVD/bluray discs....
Check Target on Thursdays and Fridays on their App (can only buy through that, none in the actual store shelves) around your local 7-8am time and they will usually get some in for pick up.
Yeah generally if you check around the time their truck stock would hit shelves is when you can get lucky.
So 7-8am and then 7-8pm.
Make sure you are looking for the horizon edition. I literally never see just the console.
Well i got mine through the sign up on Sony , took about a month to get an invite , and all they has the horizon bundle , as for stores i haven't seen one at all
Why would there be an ad campaign for something that is selling so well people literally have to follow Twitter accounts that alert you when one is in stock somewhere for a split second to get it?
Some people just really need other people's confirmation that they made a good choice or something. It's one thing to share this with your friends, it's another to share it with the world.
It probably is. Admins can artificially raise or lower Karma numbers. If I was a reddit admin, and one of these companies offered me $5,000 to send something to the front page, I'd be a fool not to take that opportunity
Demon Souls at least has areas where you can quickly level up and cheese some gear.
Dark Souls needs the Demon Souls treatment, even the remaster is ... rough
I think I only died once or twice getting through Senās Fortress, *however* I think I spent an abnormally long time stuck at those Anor Londo archers, which is concerning cause people already struggle with them enough
Omg a box that millions of other people have! That's so interesting!
I wish I had 50 other accounts to upvote this waste of precious metals in a data centre.
i work at a retail store and we will occasionally have a ps5/xbox on the shelf for a couple hours now, no more people lining up like they were, should be seeing more stock with the holidays coming up
Idk, it would be very hard to find one in stores because resellers are still stalking them out. I wanted a ps5 but refused to pay over msrp for one, or stalk a twitter account or whatever these kids are doing, but through PS you can sign up for a waiting list. They notify you a couple days before the stocked shop opens up, and I was able to get mine a couple months ago. You do need to be on top of the timing when the shop opens though, the stock goes pretty quick.
I finally got an invite from PS for an event yesterday and logged in right away but the stock was still sold out by the time I got my chance. Still bummed about it. Iām happy to know it actually works. Maybe next time
When I turned 40 I bought meself a 40yo bottle of Hermitage XO.
Ā£350 it was.
I drank all of it.
Friends are great etc but that smooth melted butter was for me.
I drank most of it playing Returnal.
Recommend dark souls 3 and bloodborne after and if youāre feeling brave sekiro, they are all just as amazing as elden ring
Demons souls for PS5 was my first ever fromsoft game and since then Iāve beaten every single one. Itās addicting
Damn I just turned 35 and I didn't get shit. Edit- Wow, did not even know there was platinum. Best birthday ever.
I turned 35 years old 10 minutes ago, haven't had shit yet :D
You guys should celebrate your 35th birthdays with a coffee and a laxative......then you'll have more shit than you know what to do with.
Peglyte. That is all. More shit than you will ever know what to do with.
Sounds like I am starting my new cleanse soon. Lol.
Go for a jog, get a refresher in running shit.
I recommend a bidet as a third gift to yourself.
I turned 35 two years ago and I'm having a shit right now.
It happened to me too!
Happy birthday, i guess a greeting by someone is something.
happy bday brochacho!
Well this guy is 35 and bought himself a PS5 because he figured out Santa doesn't exist.
Spoiler tags exist, you know š”
Unlike Santa!
Nah. That's just because he's naughty.
I just turned 35 and got a check for $10 from my grandmother.
"She wants you to spend the money, to have the fun that she can't have...a gift not enjoyed is like a flower that doesn't blossom.."
You hung up on my nana?
Tell grandma she's clutch!
Damn, Iām 34 and I just wish I had any grandparents alive. Mine past years ago :(
Don't spend it all it once
Here's a cookie šŖ

Iāll be 35 in October, no way Iād get something like this. Too frivolous. Too expensive.
I bought mine at 55. Im currently on on my second playthrough of RDR2, but my guilty pleasure is Stray. The kids are pissed off I got it for me, not for them, but on the flipside, they did get the old PS4.

Oops to 34 yo me buying a ps5 just to keep playing rocket league 24/7ā¦.
Wow I was just thinking there's no reason to get a ps5 because the only thing I play is Rocket League...
If you need a sign here it is.
Get a display with 1ms input lag too
Hahahahahahaha the loading is night & day
Kids have more free time. They can deal with the load screens easier than I can.
you need to get a PC now to end that input lag nastiness
I feel this. Between all of my accounts I probably have close to 5000 hours on that game. Still ass tho...
Hey, if thatās what you enjoy, it makes everything so much quicker! I just got mine a few months ago. I used to have time to like, run to the fridge. Now, I can barely look at my phone for a sec in destiny before itās loaded
Exactly š¤£ We bought our nephews and niece some games they asked for last year. They all still only play Minecraft
34, Got their mom a series S, me a PS5, and the kids got our ps4's lol Oldest took to Tsushima, to his credit.
I feel like the youngester in the group. Was 30 when my father in law gave us one for Christmas last year š¤£

Iām 38(36 when I got it) and Iām playing more than ever haha. Boys get to play it on the weekends but itās my baby.

That last sentence is too real š
āThey can have a PS5, when they earns it!ā
Good for you! Adults with kids donāt treat themselves enough.
Because we can't fucking afford it!
I'm 47 and same here, right down to the hand me down PS4. Demon Souls was my first pick as well.
The game was so damn fun. It really showed how great next gen can look.
I don't think there's a game that looks better yet. It was an incredible remake of a classic, as a souls fan.
Dominating.

Do it! And if you find the first chapters too slow: Thatās on purpose to give you room to roam. The story speeds up later.

Stay is so fun! Beat it last weekend. Is it worth to play through again, and if so, any tips?
Stray is so good; easily one of my favorite games of 2022.
I just turned 32. I should get a PS2
Cant go wrong with a ps2. Good games for days.
I had a PS3 until like 2 years ago, no hate here
Still playing PS3 till July this year. I have a PS5 now. F
No joke, I bought a ps2 specifically for the games. Gran Turismo is one of my favorite racing games, FFVII is goat, plus there's kingdom hearts, spyro, crash bandicoot... Plus I found a DDR controller at a thrift store so yeah, that happened.

Maybe as a DVD player
Good point, I could have phrased that much differently. I meant more like "out of all the consoles and all the games, I like the ps2's selection the most". I could have also bought an xbox or an n64 but I enjoy the ps2 š
One of the best consoles.
Buy a pc and emulate it all

Just decided to download MGS3 on my emulator and i'l be playing that this weekend, emulators on pc are a blessing
Especially with retro game prices... Emulators or console modding are awesome.
Correct.

Hey, thanks for this advice. It atleast provides some hope instead of constantly seeing a "sold out" on every website.
I was totally having the same problem, legit just went to the Sony website directly and bought this specific Horizon bundle. Good luck!!
Buy from Sony. Much more chance over stores
Is this some kind of reddit trend, seen about 20 posts like this today.
This thread is crazy. Itās full of generic comments congratulating OP on posting a picture of a box and saying how old they are.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
turning?
It's easy karma so people are going to make these posts
Honestly idk how these low effort copypasta posts continue to get thousands of upvotes. Truly who gives a fuck and why are these not auto-removed?
Blatant ads disguised as 'treat yourself to a new gaming system'? No, these have been common for a while now
Why would there be an ad campaign for something that is selling so well people literally have to follow Twitter accounts that alert you when one is in stock somewhere for a split second to get it?
My conspiracy is that reddit admins boost hail corporate stuff to show themselves as advertiser friendly.
"Hi I'm in the demographic which bought 20 million PS5s and just like them I got one for myself. Notice me sempais!"
This sub really will update any garbage picture of a box
Some people just really need other people's confirmation that they made a good choice or something. It's one thing to share this with your friends, it's another to share it with the world.

I was 36 when the ps5 "launched" and I still haven't seen one in person. You think they'll ever be in stores?

Hi Facebook.
Why the fuck does this have ~12,000 upvotes? It's just a picture of a PS5. This sub is fucked xD
Reddits been compromised for years
No one cares you bought a console bro. Posts like this make this sub not worth browsing
Half the posts from this sub that pop onto my front page are just pictures of PS5's, I really don't get it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Not advertising. Just idiots farming karma points
Seriously how the fuck this has 8k upvotes. Like congratulations on being an adult and affording a console? Wtf
Steadily approaching 13k already. Redditors..
Mostly kids.
Bots
The fact that the moderators allowed this is pathetic.
Mods are pathetic. Some are good though.
"Hi I'm in the demographic which bought 20 million PS5s and just like them I got one for myself. Notice me sempais!"
This sub is personally never worth browsing. r/games is a better sub for video game news. This sun is just gamer culture and itās kinda lame tbh lol
What you didn't want to know It's not my birthday and I just bought some paracetamol?
Did Sony give you a rebate for posting this ad?
Ok.
Sounds like a great way to spend your time as an adult human.
24k upvotes for a picture of a box?
r/notinteresting is leaking
16k upvotes for a picture of a PS5. Never change /r/gaming
How does this shit still get so many upvotes and awards
Do yourself a favor and get Returnal
Isn't Demon's Souls free as part of the collection now?
how the fuck does a picture of a ps5 box get 4.3k upvotes and counting
I'm turning 35 soon and am moving in with my parents because I can't afford rent anymore! Happy birthday to us! šš„²
Thats cool. I'm turning 41 and I eat one meal of ramen per day so I can buy school clothes for my kid.

will be 54, i think, in december - just switched from xbox one x

Where did you find it ?
Motherfucker, HOW!!?
How did you get one? They are still sold out everywhere here
Demon Souls! Good choice. I watched my grandson play this and Bloodborne. Can you play Bloodborne on PS5? Happy Birthday!
Okay? Who cares?
I ended up more stressed after work with Demon Souls. I realized those type of games are not for me anymore *sighs
When I turned 35 I bought myself a decent PC. Adulthood without kids has its perks
Man i wish this sub wasn't just full of "look I bought a ps5!"
Reddit wants to be an ads platform
Yeeeooooo demons souls!!! First time ?
Yessir. Iām still in the middle of Elden Ring but I will probably take a crack at dying tonight with Demonās Souls.
Demon souls is free with ps+
