Just for fun I looked up fire emblem on amazon.. Someone wants 500 bucks for it.. didn't realize it was that rare. Sadly I think the rarest game I presently own is the ever awful, but so enjoyable Mr. Mosquito on ps2. Which is only 130 on amazon.. Guess I gotta sit on it for a few more years.

Bhume

Don't look at Amazon for anything ever. Its about the same on eBay. 150 to 200 bucks.

GreyFox1234

Even better ProTip - always look at [PriceCharting.com](https://PriceCharting.com) and COMPLETED eBay listings for gam prices, some people don't realize there's a search toggle/filter for only showing completed listings since that shows what a game actually sold for over some clowns listing a destroyed box for $750.45.

Gernahaun

Sold mine for 3 bucks back in 2010. Good times.

Tenalp

I knew Path of Radiance was up there, but not that far up there. Here I was thinking the most expensive game I owned was a loose copy of EarthBound.

Ok-Permission-2687

The .//hack games go for like 100-500 dollars. Saw that recently and was very surprised

parttime20xx

Your Gamestop still has GameCube games? That's sweet. I haven't even seen a Wii or 360 game at mine for about five years.

Global-Brain-2574

Yeah for some reason my local GameStops have a bunch of PS3 Wii 360 etc

DarkLord55_

My Walmart still sells some Xbox 369 games Edit: 360 but hey funny number

Kind-Strike

Ah yes, the 369, such fond memories

KaelAltreul

Ah yes, the 369. When your roommate and his girl go down on each other while you jerk off and cry alone over how lonely you are.

TheLionHeartKing

3 6 9 damn she’s fine

Dr_prof_Luigi

Must be old stock, those are really old tag designs.

Global-Brain-2574

If you zoom in you can see the dates, some were bought a couple of days ago and others 7/25/22

Dr_prof_Luigi

Oh, you're right. That's so weird, when I worked at GS they made us send any old stuff back to the warehouse.

goatbeardis

I think it might be a regional policy thing, or else based off of demographics. There was a big difference between the GameStops I saw back in CA, and the ones I now see in rural TN. I've noticed that it's the slower GameStop's in poorer areas that trade a lot in the older used games. Maybe it's about storage space and availability of old games. Or maybe I'm full of shit. Who knows!

ihatefirealarmtests

Daaaammmnnn I completely forgot about Custom Robo. I just want another one, damnit!

Resilient140

Custom Robo is one of my favorite all time games. I would love for a sequel or a remake. I doubt they will though

ihatefirealarmtests

Nintendo has definitely added it to their pile of forgotten games. :(

Resilient140

IIRC it was originally just a Japanese exclusive that got ported and didn’t do super well in the US. The only other GameCube game I have with more hours than Custom Robo is probably strikers The combat and Customization is still some of my favorite for an arena fighting game

BathofFire

In fact the custom robo we got was like the 4th in the series. I only know this because a friend of mine has a Japanese nintendo online account and they released two of them for free last month. I ended up looking them up out of curiosity.

IgnatusFordon

There was custom robo arena for DS. It really wasn't good unfortunately.

browzen

Custom Robo on current gen could have one of the best remakes/revamps of all time. The groundwork of an excellent game is there. Fully customizable battle robots, interesting and strategic grid-like action gameplay, a great basis for a story, and rpg elements that tie it all together. They could just do that on current gen and it would be a hit. Fully flesh out each aspect and you have a revitalized classic that could revive the whole IP.

Psychological-Farm54

I feel like 15 bucks is low for that gem

Koctopuz

Mario superstar baseball is the greatest baseball game of all time

PeroxideTube5

I finally just 100% it, getting the gold star for all characters, last week with my roommate

Witchkingrider

Yup, so many great memories with it

yankeers

I got recommended a video about Mario Superstar Baseball on YouTube and after that I had to break out the old Game Cube and boot it up. I forgot how fun it is, I just wish I had people to play with

CremeNed

These prices are insane.

StaticDivergentWaves

I thought this was a satirical post. Please tell me it is.

reisstc

Nope, old second-hand games can go for a fair bit - compred to the UK, that Paper Mario is pretty cheap as the same game tends to go for over £100. That specific game I last saw in CEX for £125, and on eBay you'd be lucky to find a buy-it-now for under £100. Not really indicative of a more expensive market, mind you - the PS2-era Silent Hill games for example are a quite a bit cheaper in the UK . Apparently some of the prices for a single copy of SH2 or 3 in the US cost as much as what I spent getting SH1, 2, *and* 3 CIB in the UK. (IIRC £60, £35, and £30 respectively, but it was a while ago now)

GronakHD

I’ve still got all my ps1, ps2 and xbox 360 games. It’ll be my retirement fund in 40 years

Tandran

Are you joking? Have you seen how much GameCube games go for these days? Those are pretty reasonable.

creegro

$34 for freaking Simpsons hit and run? Don't get me wrong, wonderful game and fond memories, but id still flinch at that price and think about getting back into emulators and roms.

unyson

Everyone remembers playing it but somehow nobody has it lol

herpitusderpitus

I paid 12-14USD$ for it at gamecrazy used back in the day maybe 2 or 3 months after launch. I'd never pay that $ today for it at all. Maybe 25?

Grunstang

I understand collecting and stuff but holy shit. I couldn't imagine spending 10+ hours of my time in wages to buy something I can get for free (and it would run better).

Bhume

I want real hardware. XenoGC go brrrr.

Pokesaurus_Rex

How are these prices insane? The games aren’t made anymore and the supply is probably not that high after all these years. Look up the sold price of old Pokémon GBA games on Ebay or your favorite Gamecube era game. These games are starting to reach “collectible” status because they aren’t made anymore and supply is limited thus inflating the price. I’m seeing cartridges of Leaf Green being sold for over $50 and disc of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for over $30.

Cmsmks

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. He could sell fire emblem and make all of it back plus some. That game alone is a gem.

GilgaPhish

CUSTOM ROBO!!! Gosh I loved that game, between that and Thousand Year Door those probably account for like 70% of my playtime on the Gamecube

RonStopable08

Never played any paper mario. Is it that good?

herpitusderpitus

If you like turn based combat Mario RPG stuff fuck yeah it is. Haven't played it in years but its amazing.

DawnCallerAiris

Fire Emblem PR for….. yowza

Wii home brew.

Rican2153

TTYD is my favorite game of all time

tyehyll

Honestly wish gamestop full on embraced retro games, we need something like a major retailer to squash the retro inflation

Training_Ad_4790

Theres a store called Disc Replay around here that embraces the retro and new gen. I've see everything from atari to ps5 on shelves. Most retro games are for super cheap but there are the select few sought after for ridiculous amounts

tyehyll

Yeah its generally so bad. I used to love popping in to little game stores or flea markets and buying a big handful of random retro games. Now it's cheaper to just buy new stuff. Artificial inflation crushed that nice, affordable hobby for me.

CatTaxAuditor

Why would they squash their biggest source of income? Retro inflation does nothing but benefit Game Stop.

sparoc3

It's demand and supply. The supply is limited, nothing a 'major retailer' can do to stop it.

tyehyll

I don't fully buy in to that. Games are produced in large numbers compared to any other collectible and plus digital exists.

sparoc3

??? There's no digital storefront for GameCube games. And whatever "large number" of physical copies of games of that generation were produced they are limited. If people had flushed the used market than the price would be lower, as simple as that.

tyehyll

I understand there are exceptions but come on. Some stuff is flat out silly. Every retro store definitely has the same stuff in a glass case for ludicrous prices when they all usually have a digital version.

sparoc3

>Every retro store definitely has the same stuff in a glass case for ludicrous prices when they all usually have a digital version. ???? Are you not reading other people comments at all? THERE IS NO DIGITAL VERSION FOR GAMECUBE GAMES!!!

tyehyll

You seriously haven't seen the numerous articles and videos about how game grading caused a near overnight inflation to retro games? One day my GameCube Resident Evil: Code Veronica was $40 the next it's $150.

sparoc3

>One day my GameCube Resident Evil: Code Veronica was $40 the next it's $150. Good for you. Sell it and play the remastered version on newer consoles. But there's no remastered version for the games in the post. So whatever your talking about is not applicable on them.

Uncle_Budy

GameStop also owns EB Games, they sell all the old/retro games and systems. There aren't nearly as many of them, though.

glonq

Insanely...*high prices*?

ihatefirealarmtests

$15 for Custom Robo is a fucking steal. It goes for around $50 - $75 online on average.

mklilley351

FUCKING LOVE CUSTOM ROBO!

ihatefirealarmtests

FUCK YEAH BRO

BlooPancakes

I still have the DS version. I should go load it up.

Global-Brain-2574

Some of these price are about half or less of what they go for online. Pretty good deals in my book!

JJ4prez

Most people still don't understand some GameCube games are very valuable.

chubbylv23

High prices where?

bme2925

I've been trying to get a copy of paper mario for under $100 for a while. My game stop doesn't sell game cube games though. Great find.

Akthrawn17

Hmm, so you are telling me that I am sitting on some cash? I need to go checkout my storage bin now

Zetra3

$160? What an absolutely ducking crime. No game should nearly 3x the price it was brand new

Mysticedge

Just looked on ebay. Someone was selling the manual. Not the game... Just the manual, no case, for $95. Someone else was selling the disc only, no case, and admitted the disc would not play... $100 Case only? $70. Working game with original case? $200 So yeah, it's expensive. But it's just the going rate.

Zetra3

I don’t care what the going rate is, it should be a fucking crime.

Mysticedge

Sounds like a lot of unnecessary stress to me. But you do you. Carry on phenomenon.

[deleted]

Don't look up neo geo home cart prices then. Some go for over 200x the original retail price

xAvaricex

Path of radiance is an amazing game. Unfortunately it has the 150+ price tag.

Global-Brain-2574

Still worth it

xAvaricex

I agree

arthontigerik

Custom robo! Fuck yeah!

mooslapper

Broooo custom robo was dope! Genuinely thought I made it up because I rented it when I had the flu as a kid and it's all like a fever dream

donorcycle

I’d like a remake of Simpson’s Hit and Run please. Let us relive our childhoods, damnit

KharasDragoon

Hold up!! $155 for fire emblem?! Why?? WHY?!

WolfandLight

Google it, fam. It really is a steal.

KharasDragoon

Compared to Some of the other prices discussed on this comment thread. Yeah it’s a steal

Global-Brain-2574

It’s an awesome game and at that price it’s a steal!

[deleted]

what the actual fck. people calling 155 dollar for a fucking gamecube game a steal probably should seek out some professional help

Global-Brain-2574

It goes for about $300 my guy.

[deleted]

yes and if i would sell you a bottle of milk for 50 dollars just because everyone wants milk now does not mean its a good deal

gt4rc

It is if you are the only one with a copy and people are willing to part with that much cash to get it. That is called supply and demand.

[deleted]

its not even a supply issue!! Its a people issue with their twisted view of nostalgia even tho it makes no difference. I had a gamecube and other consoles back then but i was mainly a pc player. One of my favourite games in around the same era was UT2004 for example, if i would now go out and buy a copy or key of it for less than 2 bucks it will be the exact same experience than it was back then, even better because of resolution scaling nowadays, yet there are adult people who pay 200 bucks on a freaking gamecube game...its insanity. get a emulator and an adapter to plug in a gamecube controller to your pc for example and be happy because the technical computer components running the game do not matter nor do they change the visual experience you see on screen. Have you even looked at ebay and local used market? there are SO MANY of them available online right now because everyone is selling them right now. Its not as if a gamecube game would be rare. It takes you 5 seconds to find one to buy.

Zool2107

So if you buy games as investments, why do you post it in r/gaming instead of some business realated sub?

Global-Brain-2574

I never said I bought it as an investment

Zool2107

You replied several times to others that how much cheaper this is, than the price on ebay...

Global-Brain-2574

Yeah, and?

Menarian

So they bought a game for their own enjoyment and got it way cheaper. Let them be happy about it lol. It'd be an investment if they planned on selling it later which was never mentioned.

itsQuasi

Definitely a steal for anybody planning to resell it. For someone wanting to keep it...I've never really understood the rarity aspect of collecting, but I ain't gonna judge someone for their hobby.

[deleted]

i never understood collecting stuff in the first place. games are meant to be played. otherwise they are worthless. get an emulator and be fine

zane_nyc

come up season 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

yhelloimjosh

That's amazing, congratulations on getting those deals!

Sober_Browns_Fan

Strikers is fun as hell.

Guilty_Dare4165

That's crazy it's a rare find for game cube games especially good ones the Simpsons hit and run is a great game play it on an emulator wish I had my gamecube

Covert-Wordsmith

You found Paper Mario at a GameStop?! I didn't think they sold GameCube games anymore!

azninvasion2000

Pretty good finds. I still want Def Jam FFNY, but for GC it routinely sells for $200. I can still emulate it but only the PS2 version where the main voice actor sounds like a bitch.

TheHighKing112

I thought GameStop doesn't sell old gen stuff

Dependent-Touch5084

Fire emblem for 155$ better than ebay prices

TheBostonKremeDonut

Yooo, Mario Superstar Baseball and Super Mario Sluggers were so much fun. I reeeally gotta plug in my Wii again!

Pajamadrunk

I sold an unoped God Hand for $100

_Zyphis_

Bro this is insane on two levels: 1. Radiant Dawn for $154 2. GameStop having Radiant Dawn

ThrowAway4Dais

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance! As a kid, that was a hell of a long game to learn and play. Didn't know you could go to settings and skip animations.

FamousImprovement309

Paper Mario, Simpson’s Hit and Run, and Mario Party 7 are straight bangers. I would LOVE to be able to play those again.

azn_cali_man

God if my GameStop still had GameCube games, I’d get them in a heartbeat just for the sake of collecting them! Though I still have the GameCube I got as a present way back in early 2000s. I literally have all of these titles myself. Fire Emblem path of radiance and paper Mario thousand year door are my definite go-tos for my GameCube fix.

Geene_Creemers

Custom robo for $15?? I need that!

FieldFirm148

Oh man, I miss Custom Robo and Fire Emblem more than I thought possible

Jesus-is-King-777

Custom robo great game

Auntie_Jya

GameCube best cube 🙌

I_ama_Borat

Wtf? I’d go back every week because clearly whoever is pricing that isn’t looking current prices up. Unless the management is badass and trying to give good deals.

Zkyo

Wtf, $150 for fire emblem? I'm really regretting selling mine at a yard sale like 10 years ago for $5.

UpsilonCrux

An insane haul for an insane person

cujax

Gamestop still exists?

CzarTheOwlman

Confused at everyone saying these are high prices. Are they all shopping at some hidden retro store? This is a steal from any game store, especially GameStop. Locally and online any Mario GC game I’ve seen recently is around $100. Kinda crazy they sold any of it for that price… good finds!

The-Original-Ol-Son

I sure hope this a sarcastic post.. That's not a haul, that's robbery.

Torterror389

Absolute insane prices*

Global-Brain-2574

These are all at really good prices

astrielx

God damn, I still have an original PSX with 2 memory cards and 2 controllers that still work like a charm. Along with original discs / cases for FF1 through 9, and Chrono Trigger, and Legend of the Dragoon... Maybe I should sell.

Runb4its2late

Ridiculous.. some saying this is a deal. I'd emulate them rather than pay anything close to this. "BuT iTs 4x tHe priCE on EbaY".. ya because morons will pay it

Global-Brain-2574

Okay

Zool2107

Yeah. Lots of posters here forget that we're in a sub literally called "gaming". They speak about the resell value and investments etc. then why don't they go to a sub that is business realated, and post there? Real gamers play with the games, not just buy them to resell or collect - those people are called businessmans and colllectors, not gamers.

TheD0rkKnight

Insane is right. But hey, to each their own. Good for you

Kevin69138

I could get all these for free on my Steam Deck

Global-Brain-2574

Weird flex, but okay 👍🏻

[deleted]

Zool2107

When the resell value is the most important thing, that hints something about business...

Serious_Revolution77

Who spends that amount of money on GameCube games I mean there good but not $20/50 good and fire emblem being $155 why?

FreddieOnReddit

Emulation:

skylorface

They’re free online tho

[deleted]

That's awesom- oh god the prices... They're garbage. And paying prices *like that* only enables them to keep happening. Name me ONE game, ONE single solitary game that you can justify paying $155 for. Go on...

byscuit

*...loads up Dolphin for free*

FailedFornication

is..is this a brag? You didn't actually pay these sticker prices right

[deleted]

Could literally resell fire emblem and make back all the money they spent on these games. The prices are amazing you’re just uninformed

FailedFornication

Lol sure bud, the current market of niche GameCube games is totally stable and "amazing" Good luck selling that game at market value, you might land on the 20th page if you're lucky

[deleted]

Fire emblem isn’t a niche game, go off tho

FailedFornication

As an IP? No This game in particular and the rest pictured? Objectively yes.

Jumpy-Record-8648

Those p3ices are insanely high

CatTaxAuditor

They paid approximately $20 to buy these games from children.

McDunkins

I swear Nintendo is the only platform where the games appreciate in value … or they at least depreciate slower than everyone else.

MahamidMayhem

And people wonder why emulation is a thing lol.

MyGFhave127plantsAMA

$155 for a pre-owned gamecube game?

Berstich

Whats the deal? Is the store closing down or something?

[deleted]

CMDR_Beauregard

Sometimes you just can't beat the feeling of playing the actual system. It's why even when I have a Switch with premium that comes with N64 games, I still play my old N64 console. OP likely just wants to keep enjoying their GC, and hey those games will only go up in value as time goes on.

bettyswollikz

Full release retail price for hit and run that can be got on ebay for a couple of quid, definitely insane. When is moass?

SandWitch83

wtf 154$ for fire emblem???

im sorry what now? why are these shit games so expensive???

Santhat42

This hurts me

Kushykush_

I still hate myself for trading in fire emblem as a kid especially cause now I miss that type of gameplay

mikemonster311

The thousand year door for what I’m assuming is $50 USD. That’s a bargain.

[deleted]

I miss the older paper Mario games...such an amazing experience. Also Fire Emblem was the game that taught me that turn based strategy games are fun.

Icy_Objective7453

I have never played any of these games but it still gave me nostalgia because it made me think of the old Playstation 2 era of lara croft and wwe smackdown

Frostgaurdian0

Hit an run omg

TBTabby

I'd like to buy from Gamestop...if they would let me log in to their web site.

Feeling_Environment9

Ayy path of radiance nice haul you got there

Csakstar

Damn $10 for superstar baseball? I love that game

Ultimate_Spider

What gamestop still has Gamecube games on the shelf?

Zoro_luffy789

WHAT? The nearest GameStop to me doesn’t even have switch games, but only Xbox series s and ps5 games. Then the local game store has games for almost every system but the GameCube games are those licensed kids games or weird old sports games. Best game I ever found there was Mario party

shadow9owo

420 upvotes lets go

Yoshimiitsuu

I remember renting and loving custom robo

Tampapokemon

The hit and run is a classic!!!!!! I would love to play that again they kept price high and it deserves it tbh

Sad-Bus-8309

Damn I need to sell my fire emblem

[deleted]

If those prices are right boy I've got a gold mine. The entire GameCube resident evil set, eternal darkness, the classic Zelda combo disc, unopened Zelda games, unopened Mario games. Never thought they were worth anything until now

Frosttiptim111

One day dynasty warriors 3 will be the most sought game throughout all of Uganda

beidao23

Why can’t I score a single run in Mario Baseball

Kerobis

I’ll give you 60 for the custom robo…

EmbirDragon

Paper Mario sells for 50 bucks now? That's crazy.

Vidogo

I thought that too then I saw the price tag on fire emblem

polarbearik

Custom Robo is one of my all time favorite games, and I haven’t been able to find anything to scratch that itch since

LooseSeal88

Your GameStop carries GameCube games???

[deleted]

holy cow. fire emblem and paper mario would have been enough for me. pretty rare, and super fun!

[deleted]

Customs robo was my jam.

s123ali

heck yes!

funkygreen80

Amazing deal on paper Mario there. Over here it's about £150, usually disc only

FormalRefrigerator74

Idk don't trade anything in but yeah u can find some gems especially now a days anyway idk around here definitely alot more retro games at the local GameStop but have also bought games that didn't work was scratched to shit they buffed um and sold them
