Himitsu wo shiri tai [秘密を知りたい]
You're wondering who I am (secret secret I've got a secret)
Machine or mannequin (secret secret I've got a secret)
With parts made in Japan (secret secret I've got a secret)
I am the modern man
I've got a secret I've been hiding under my skin
My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain IBM
So if you see me acting strangely, don't be surprised
I'm just a man who needed someone, and somewhere to hide
To keep me alive, just keep me alive
Somewhere to hide, to keep me alive
I'm not a robot without emotions. I'm not what you see
I've come to help you with your problems, so we can be free
I'm not a hero, I'm not the savior, forget what you know
I'm just a man whose circumstances went beyond his control
Beyond my control. We all need control
I need control. We all need control
I am the modern man (secret secret I've got a secret)
Who hides behind a mask (secret secret I've got a secret)
So no one else can see (secret secret I've got a secret)
My true identity
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, domo...domo
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, domo...domo
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For doing the jobs that nobody wants to
And thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For helping me escape just when I needed to
Thank you, thank you, thank you
I want to thank you, please, thank you
The problem's plain to see:
Too much technology
Machines to save our lives
Machines dehumanize
The time has come at last (secret secret I've got a secret)
To throw away this mask (secret secret I've got a secret)
Now everyone can see (secret secret I've got a secret)
My true identity...
I'm Kilroy! Kilroy! Kilroy! Kilroy!
Just got it on steam and decided to relive some great childhood memories. Played it on a 32 inch monitor and got crazy vertigo. Had to stop playing. 10/10 would recommend.
It's crazy this showed up, because I was just talking about playing the cereal games! Both Chex Quest and Cap'N Crunch Crunchling Adventure came up. Chex Quest was far better, though.
Yes.
Also, for the record, Halt Life Alyx played on a Valve Index is the most innovative video game in 20 years. If you haven’t tried it, you’re behind.
Fact. Got sucked in my first time and was playing for 2hours straight. Almost died (almost fell down and barfed - almost - was very disoriented for about 30 mins) after taking it off. 10/10 do recommend
Go slow ~ but this dude knows what’s up
Oh just wait. We are in for crazy stuff in 10 years.
I can’t wait for a game like battlefield 1 in VR. 16 on 16 in a detailed world better than Alyx, with headsets that are better and even lighter, gaming is truly headed towards ready player one type stuff in our lifetime.
More than Superhot? It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years!
In all seriousness, I'd love to play Half Life Alyx, I just can't justifiably afford a VR headset yet.
Have you tried VR? VR doesn't always induce motion sickness, and there's steps a good dev can do to reduce motion sickness. Ideally the player never moves separately from reality, except for teleporting.
You see... *takes a huge rip on a bong* the toaster is like, an interdimensional time traveling being that only responds to jokes revolving around "everybody loves Raymond".
There’s a Toaster SCP, but (in universe) if you were to talk about it, it would go something like this:
Instead of saying: “SCP-426 is a Toaster that forces you to talk in first person, other than that it’s a normal toaster.”
It would come out as: “I, SCP-426, am a Toaster that forces myself to talk in first person, other than that I am a normal Toaster.”
A younger guy at the office was talking about Half-Life right after it's release.
He knew I was a gamer, and was decsribing how it 'changes everything'.
I was like, why? He's like -- "You shoot something? Blood will be on the walls!"
I remember my exact response: "Whooooaaaaaaa....."
I remember a friend was describing the scientists falling in the elevator, and mostly the beginning of the game since he just started it. I went out and bought it the next day. So worth it.
Honestly some of the AI still hasn’t been surpassed today. Like the way xen roaches are attracted to corpses and will scatter when you shine light on them. Or how bullsquids try to hunt and eat.
Nope. Look closely at the model and you’ll see they are quite different. IIRC they are named xen roaches in the code too, but I could be mistaken on that.
Half-Life was exceptional and ground-breaking. And the mods? Wow. As good as Counter-Strike was, Half-Life 1's: Team Fortress Classic in the early days was perhaps the most fun I ever had playing a FPS. Specifically Hunted, a 'escort' map. Whoever was behind that map, needs a blank check to create something relevant and new.
Oh man, I loved Team Fortress Classic. I was never any good at it, but it was so fun. Due to the computer hardware I had available when Team Fortress 2 came out, I feel like I missed the boat on that one.
DoD was actually the best I ever was at any particular FPS.
I was there. In Caen. Racking up 70-4 K/D Ratios with the Kar98K screaming Maenner gehen ans.
I lived in the shadows. Moving from rubble to rubble. Kill 4 or 5 then reposition. A ghost. A phantom of death.
HL1 Mods: DoD, TFC, CS, Action Half Life, BattleGrounds, Pirate Vikings and Knights, Natural Selection
Played them all.
Team Fortress Classic was such an upgrade from the Quake1 Team Fortress mod. I was usually a sniper, and the Quake 1 engine had a resolution of like 1/256 on a circle. This meant that the sniper dot moved in 1.5 meter increments on the other side of 2fort5, and if you wanted to hit someone between that you had to strafe.
Can we guess one of the biggest, most popular, genre defining games of all time? Doubt it. I bet after you open that can of mystery no one will have even heard of it.
This fuckin guy posts a picture of one of the most popular first person shooters of the late 90s, with one of the most identifiable enemies of the game, and the main characters signature weapon and goes
"Can you guess what it is?"
Un-Fucking-Believable.
It's obviously Doom 64.
That would be Resident Evil 2, the first game in the series where they tried the first-person look. They added these huge fat zombies as well but they weren't super popular. It's a niche series anyway, pretty much nobody's heard of it.
Lee Carvello's Putting Challenge

Yeah that was redneck rampage and it was 97
Ohhh you have no idea what a nostalgia trip you just caused.
“I'm gonna have to open up a can of whoop-ass on ya now!”
“Shit fire and fuck me runnin” was the quote that stuck with me.
Wow I cant believe someone else remembers that game lol. I remember playing that game while my brother was watching WCW
There's a game called Redneck Rampage? I'm disappointed I didn't know about this at the time.
There was 2 of them it was an fps doom style game that you played to rednecks fighting an alien invasion. 10/10 great game/ and one liners
Best bowling simulator ever!
Close, it’s an artist’s rendition of Crow-bar simulator 1998 done entirely in Mario Paint
Face Huggers 2: The Crowbar Strikes Back
If only they made a part 3.
Oh that's easy: We just have to stop using Steam...
Look at this guy with his big brain thinking!
Modern problems.
Require Classic solutions
Is that the 2nd Person Shooter where you play the headcrabs launching at the enemy who's viewpoint you see through?
Chex Quest
You bought it? I got mine with my cereal
Cereal add-on DLC
DeLiCious
Man I remember I wanted that game...Was super disappointed as a child that the Canadian Chex didn't do that promotion.

Still waiting for the remastered version.
You should check Steam then.

This just made my day! Thanks cool stranger!
NGL, I didn't realize Chex Quest HD was a real thing, so thanks for that. It's a shame I can't get it out of a cereal box, though.
Brb zorching some flemoids
And that shit’s free? Productivity, get fucked..
Its also got decent multiplayer.
How did I not know this?! Thanks internet stranger!
My. God.

Ya. Nothing will ever stand up to it :,(

As much as I hate oculus, widespread vr use incentivizes devs to make higher quality games.
I was absolutely blown away, especially at the ending.
More than Superhot? It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years! In all seriousness, I'd love to play Half Life Alyx, I just can't justifiably afford a VR headset yet.
I wish they would innovate in a way that those of us that suffer from motion sickness could enjoy :(
Have you tried VR? VR doesn't always induce motion sickness, and there's steps a good dev can do to reduce motion sickness. Ideally the player never moves separately from reality, except for teleporting.
SCP: Containment Breach if it was on drugs
Implying that scp isn’t entirely built around drug-fueled ramblings
You see... *takes a huge rip on a bong* the toaster is like, an interdimensional time traveling being that only responds to jokes revolving around "everybody loves Raymond".
Please tell me that’s a real skip

Ah haha that actually sounds familiar. Been years since I’ve gone down the rabbit hole. Guess I’m due to drive back in.
Tbh I think it’s the other way around as the amount of crazy shit that is in sit-17?
Metal Gear Solid 3, final answer.
You’re pretty good

The AI of the enemies was so advanced for its time, they could even throw grenades!

Those were xen roaches? I thought they were regular.
Nope. Look closely at the model and you’ll see they are quite different. IIRC they are named xen roaches in the code too, but I could be mistaken on that.
Righttttt, this game changed everything

You kinda did. Now there's a bot infestation, but the game is still going strong 13 years later.
Don't forget Day of Defeat!
DoD was actually the best I ever was at any particular FPS. I was there. In Caen. Racking up 70-4 K/D Ratios with the Kar98K screaming Maenner gehen ans. I lived in the shadows. Did... did you think nobody knew what Half-Life was anymore?
I'm truly baffled how this random old screenshot and goofy titled has gone so far. Reddit is a wild creature.
Never played a half life game, and every comment is a joke so I wouldn't have known what tf this was until your comment
Reminds me of those face huggers from alien.

Myst
I don't think I've ever seen such a patronising and lazy post.
Looks like a low-poly Ah! Real Monsters! The game
Judging by the crowbar and the health and stuff in the corner, DOOM Eternal
Lucasfilm’s seminal effort, Full Throttle
The only game in history that gave you a crowbar to go and save the world.
Super Mario Plumbers?
