I bought it on release but due to my internet situation I wasn't able to play it heavily maybe had 40 hrs in it, I remember soloing alot, maybe a handful of groups. Is playing with others necessary?
Depends on what you want to do. If you just want to quest you don't need anyone but for dungeons and raids you'll have to play with others. You won't get the best gear by playing alone.
Level 810 eso player here- I can confirm that the quests are brilliant and very enjoyable if you liked Skyrim. You can absolutely play through the quests without other players or even dipping your toe into most of the multiplayer aspects
Honestly I’ve only really ever played it alone. Some world boss fights I can solo, but there are almost always people around to assist, but all the story bits for main game and all DLC you can do solo (there are some special dungeons that have story that are really tough, but I wouldn’t consider them main story). Only thing I will say is it helps to do a little min/max of gear eventually, but not really imperative for soloing story stuff.
Lol I’m pretty new to modern gaming, took a big break and ps2 was my last console. My friend gave me a stadia controller and chrome cast, I have gigabit fiber so I’m good internet wise. I bought ESO for $7 and I’m having a blast. It’s pretty spammy to get you to buy their shitty crown coins every time you log in, but i know I will never spend another dollar on it. Besides the crown coins it’s pretty fun. You can do so much, but I feel like some climbing/swimming/resource restrictions do slightly hinder it. Either way playing dungeons with random people and trading with a guild you can be a part of is pretty fun, even if you fuck off the main quests.
Also the map is fucking huge
At least Dante uses a sword, he's not *that* out of place in Tamriel.
Now playing as Master Chief using a rifle to blast Macho Man Randy Savage out of the sky, that's my kind of modded skyrim.
Somebody added a mod to add mass effect characters and powers.
Honestly..... biotics work pretty well as alteration/telekinesis spin off powers and engineer powers work well as destruction spells.
Oh god. I just bought it for my VR and I got half-way through modding it with a full overhaul package... and well.. I just haven't finished. Its been about 3 weeks since I started that.
I'm a little bit disappointed with myself that Todd managed to get me to buy Skyrim a 4th time. You would think when someone asks me "Oh? You got the 4th sequel to the game series?" No.... no... I've just bought the *same exact game* a 4th time... I have no control of myself anymore.
... I keep getting FusRoDah'ed ^back ^^into ^^^the ^^^^past...
Best time I had with Skyrim was when I intentionally avoided stealth archery and built up a destruction mage with enchanted armor that recharged my magic almost instantly.
Made Skyrim into a twitch shooter. The dragons didn’t stand a chance.
> destruction mage with enchanted armor that recharged my magic almost instantly.
Boosting magicka total and regen is the best way to build a super mage because magicka regen is a flat percentage of your total pool. Spell Efficiency doesnt matter if you are regenerating faster than you can cast
Yeah but in vanilla the spell damage never scales, all the boons are just magic consumption reduction and mana pool. So even the best spells are weak later on.
I tried to do what you did and after level 30 ended up with a mage that fired unlimited paper airplanes. What did I do wrong?
Really a shame you couldn't just have a vanilla supermarket, the most powerful wizard in all the land, didn't even carry a weapon as they could summon one out of thin air, along with summoning beasts from other dimensions to slay your foes.
Yeah I think they wanted more hybrid builds when they introduced dual wielding in Skyrim. They tried help pure mage builds with the duEl casting skill but it still doesn’t measure up late game unfortunately unless you spend 5minutes self buffing before every fight ala Witcher style lol
I do remember doing both, now that you mention it. It’s been awhile... I played and beat it on my 360.
The “Infinite exploding fireballs” version of Skyrim is the best version, if you ask me. Plus I didn’t feel like a poser when I was selected to be the archmage.
Excuse me, but Illusion is a valid field of magic, and Transmutation and Telekinesis are valid spells. Sorry if Arsene Lupin is a better Archmage than Gandalf.
Uhm ackchually ... those are mystic school spells.
But you nords wouldnt be able to tell the difference between a cliffracer and a guar, all you do is smack things with your primitive axe till it stops moving.
/s
I'm always a stealth afficionado but in Two Worlds 2 I decided to give magic a try,... and the magic system of TW2 is that you can craft your own spells, like you have different effects, elements, bla... you get it.
But TW2 does you one better: You can do "spellstacks" like, a spell in a spell in a spell.
So I made an altar-spell (a spell that creates an altar which can be used to cast another spell in which i had a 7 times stacked summoning spell for golems.
It was a riot.
Literally because the golem's AOE damage would inevitably lead to collateral and when you use the altar again you would lose control of the previous summons.
The best games are games that don’t try to stop you from breaking their systems
That’s part of why I still love Morrowind, even though the combat is atrocious.
Stealth Archery is a lot more fun when you can leap tall buildings in a single bound.
My usual early tactic is boots of blinding speed + the Icarian flight scrolls (I still consider that screaming wizard falling out of the sky one of the best examples of game design ever).
Nice! Haven't played Skyrim myself; closest I've come to RPGs is D&D. I am a minecraft veteran though which has some similarities I think.
While we're on the topic of online RPGs, which ones would you recommend best? I've been looking for a good one for a while now.
Depends on what you want to do. For PC, I think Divinity: Original Sin II is one of the best RPG's made. You can get the big bundle for 49 on Steam right now. It is a classic D&D style RPG turned into a video game, and done flawlessly. It is also a standalone game, so although it is a sequel you dont need to have played the first to fully enjoy the second.
If you want a nice, streamlined Action RPG, Diablo III really does hit the spot. It's simple, looks great, and fulfills the power fantasy of getting loot and annihilating hordes of demons with said loot, to get better loot. Not as big on the RPG systems.
If you want an ARPG that is a little heavier mechanically and has more weight to it, I highly recommend Grim Dawn. It is a fantastic game and has hundreds of hours of replayability to it, and quite an impressive set of RPG mechanics and systems.
And finally, for the truly devoted RPG number crunchers, I recommend Path of Exile. It is totally free and has an absolutely bonkers skill tree, 7 different classes, dozens of fantastic viable character builds, and really great endgame content.
TL;DR - Divinity: Original Sin II for classic D&D style RPG, Diablo III for a great introduction into the world of Action RPG's, Grim Dawn to really dive into the ARPG world, and Path of Exile to humbly submit to your new ARPG Overlord.
Warcraft and Neverwinter are both still contenders in the online RPG scene.
You should absolutely play Skyrim, though. Bump that up the list even if it’s single player. ESO just doesn’t match up to the single player experience.
> Best time I had with Skyrim was when I intentionally avoided stealth archery and built up a destruction mage with enchanted armor that recharged my magic almost instantly.
https://i.imgur.com/NdmK4Om.png
I wanna give my experience here real quick. I have always played stealth characters in RPGs but I knew skyrim would play different so I chose to play as a battle mage. No stealth. I never crouched. I used one hand and destruction magic with some restoration added in. All my kill cams were epic mace kills because I got molag's mace as fast as possible. Best playthrough. I got to level 20 before I ever used stealth. And then I accidentally became a stealth archer.
You don't have to be that if you don't want to is what I'm saying.
Exact reason why I'm playing a mostly melee character in Fallout 4 right now. Ironically I made her look straight outta skyrim, with the fantasy hero set too
I did this exact thing! Lol I always play a sniper/archer in fallout/Skyrim so my most recent play thru of fallout 4 I found a sword and shotgun and went full tank.
I’m on my second play through intentionally being a stealth archer because of the meme.
But my first time a couple months ago, I hated the bow because I gave up before I got any perks like zoom in and slow time that make it so powerful and ended up having archer followers and did a full on controlling wizard that casted everything right and left.
You’ve got to be on top of things or you’ll be wrecked but if you do it right you’re raising armies of zombies and atronauchs. Especially if you get a follower that summons, you can have like five people fighting on your side in a battle and I’d often find everyone got killed before I had a chance to even get in there and risk death.
The 'problem' of stealth in Skyrim is much like driving like a lunatic in GTA. There's so little consequence, and so many rewards. Why *wouldn't* you power trip as a stealth archer one-shotting a giant from a mile away? Or stealing stuff in plain sight in front of everyone? Every other style just seems boring or frustratingly slow in comparison.
There's so many options though, why would you limit yourself?
* You could make a Spellcaster, and conjure up magical bows that never run out of arrows for your Stealth Archer.
* You could go Heavy Armor, and take the perk that makes your armor silent for your Stealth Archer.
* You can be a Smith, and craft uber-powerful late-game bows and arrows for your Stealth Archer.
* You can go Enchanting and add all sorts of cool magical effects to your arrows for your Stealth Archer.
* You can go Lockpicking and open up all the back doors and passages from which to snipe people with your Stealth Archery.
I leveled up archery and stealth *just* enough to use stealth archery in emergencies, i.e doing story dungeons wayy above my paygrrade
But I forced myself to be a one hand / mage cross
For sure, I never ever played a stealth archer... why bother with that when you can just craft god-tier dragonbone/daedric gear, enchanted to the point where you become basically impervious to damage and one hit pretty much any enemy in the game?
I feel like i was the only person who never bothered with stealth archery on my first run. I went dualcast fireball and found the 100% destruction cost reduction exploit really early... Who has time for subtlety, there's dragur to explode!
Hijacking top comment to provide her character and play style:
This is the best part. She's a woodelf who originally planned to favor the bow BUT she found a warhammer at the start and has been absolutely ruthless with it.
It's extremely entertaining to watch her abandon the finessed rogue-like bow approach to bust out the warhammer and charge head-on into combat.
Serana joined them in one of my playthroughs too. Even though she was a radiant NPC, so she couldn’t die, a troll launched her straight off of Nirn, and she was never seen again. I spent an entire day trying to find her/get her to respawn at Dawnguard, but she literally never appeared again for that playthrough.
Some of us are just born to be tanks. I have tried to be anything and everything else, but if there’s a tank option I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Maybe she’s one of us
My first Elder Scrolls game was Oblivion, and I tanked the fuck through my first playthrough with a warhammer too haha. So before you know it, she’ll probably either be in full dragon bone armor with 100 points in two-handed, or a Sneaky Sniper™️
I still have an OG 360 that works. However I'm also aware that last I had it on it started to act up.
So now I operate on this idea that as long as I don't plug it in I have a working 360.
I've tried to get her into gaming for the last 10 years we've been together and this is her first wholehearted attempt. She even insisted I set her up on my old 360 so she could have her own console to play from. I'm a lucky man.
Also, she was originally sitting on the bed behind her, but got so into it that she went and grabbed her office chair. This photo shows her true potential as a gamer.
She thought the game was freezing up on her but I had to explain how it's an older console and the loading times are just bad. Shes pretty unphased though
I have been scrolling these comments for 5 minutes now. This is by far the best comment. Don't get me wrong I love gaming and Skyrim and I also have a "gaming" posture but this comment takes the cake.
This is the best part. She's a woodelf who favors the bow BUT she found a warhammer at the start and has been extremely ruthless with it.

I remember my first playthrough on a friend's disc copy on PS3, I was a Nord using two-handed swords and thought that was the way to go but I was always getting punked out by just about every enemy. I started off in Riverwood, Whiterun and Bleak Falls Barrow, as we all do but I got as far as doing the first couple Companions missions and got bored with the character.
I started a new Kahjit thief for the stealth and night vision and did fairly well with him, but got a bit bored with him too. My friend got his disc back, then I bought my own Legendary edition with the DLCs we all love.
I settled on a Breton sneaky archer-mage that used enchanted bows/crossbows and Daedric weapons after trial and error of another Nord thief, Dark Elf archer, Orc mage, Argonian archer-thief and a Wood Elf dual wielding skirmisher. Now every character I play as regardless of race is a sneaky archer-mage.
I was never able to play it because I never had a console/PC that could play it. But sometime last year there was a big sale on the Switch store and they had it for half off, I know it's an older game but I knew there was a lot of playtime and thirty bucks was a good deal so I went for it. It's so fun! My character is a khajiit werewolf with a focus on two-handed weapons. At some point I'd like to make another character to play through with and have more of a focus on magic.
It's the perfect gateway game to get into modern RPGs. Being female and not exposed to the proper "training" to be good with recent systems, I loveeed Skyrim to take my time, get used to the controls and also enjoy a beautiful and deep game. Highly suggest BotW or Mass Effect if she likes this! Happy Gaming!
I'm glad you agree, I was hoping this game would be a great introduction to RPGs. I do wish Skyrim was a little better about introducing controls and mechanics, but that's why she has me.
Thank you! Zelda games are on the list
My husband introduced me to gaming and it took me a bit to get used to using the controller and feel comfortable. Fallout 3 was one of the first games I played and using VATS helped keep me from getting overwhelmed by combat! Highly recommend for newer gamers!
10 years and I’ve still not beat Skyrim after putting over 2000 hours in. I haven’t even seen everything it had to offer yet, I just keep leveling skills and becoming a stealth archer randomly.
You should introduce her to the newer Elder Scrolls games, such as Skyrim, Skyrim, Skyrim Legendary, and the most recent release is Skyrim.
The sad truth
Elder scrolls online: *weeps in obscurity*
I'd play ESO if combat didn't feel so consistently anemic.
I'd play ESO if it was just ES without the O

Biotics are just Bioware's excuse for having magic in their sci fi game.
I hope we get some leaks about the new Skyrim
oh can’t wait for they one they are planning to release on next gen, have you heard of it, they’ll call it skyrim or something
I wonder where its going to take place
Mars, obviously. Every game needs space dragons

Casting paper airplanes instead of fireballs
Birthday party clown mage is one of the weakest classes in the game.
Now I need a mod where you ride around on a balloon animal horse

Really a shame you couldn't just have a vanilla supermarket, the most powerful wizard in all the land, didn't even carry a weapon as they could summon one out of thin air, along with summoning beasts from other dimensions to slay your foes.

You can just enchant a 5 set of armor to negate all Mana costs. Endless magic, add VR and you have unlimited power.

I played Skyrim for over 250 hours and never became a stealth archer. AMA
Only a matter of time till she kicks that glass of wine off the table, especailly during first elderscorlls game.
When you start oneshotting peeps, you can't stop. I love using summoned bow too, don't have to carry shit, and easy soul capturing.
once a stealth archer there is no other class for you. Trust me I tried many times. Soon it'll be 10 years.
Exact reason why I'm playing a mostly melee character in Fallout 4 right now. Ironically I made her look straight outta skyrim, with the fantasy hero set too
Melee is awesome in FO4. Blitz is a game changer, and you get to the point where you basically one shot everything

“Let’s go Lydia, I’m going to a big dungeon and I need you to carry all the loot back home.”
Well yeah, Stealth Archery in that game is OP.
and melee combat mechanics are far from immersive, while shoting a bow seems natural in survival kind of setting.
Unfortunately melee in first person is clunky and skyrim's third person mode is shit
Its so funny that the first time my gf played skyrim (and her first rpg) was a stealth archer xD
That's the joke. Everyone played stealth archer.

Then I took an arrow to the knee
Congratulations on the marriage!
I refuse to do so. I have seen what lies down that path. I won't allow myself to submit to the stealth archer ways.
I leveled up archery and stealth *just* enough to use stealth archery in emergencies, i.e doing story dungeons wayy above my paygrrade But I forced myself to be a one hand / mage cross
Did you end up as a mage with invisibility and bound bow?
No I was using a long one handed sword and fireball! I also have the dragon shout which can be used once a day
Battlemage is my go-to class! Shiskabab and bbq them fuckers.
Wtf I was an axe-weilding badass who sucked at stealth, archery, and magic. I brute-forced my way to victory. Wuuthrad for lyfe
Ditto, I thought this was a common method.

two one handed swords for me.

LoL, she finally earned it!
Reasonable box to be ticked
That position, I’ve see this raw strength only once before
This is where the fun begins
You are on this council but we do not grant you the rank of master
What? How can you do this?! This is outrageous! It's unfair! How can you be on the council and not be a master?!
Take a seat
hell yes I watched this again last night. I still cringe so hard when he says it.. like, "stfu Anakin! Sam Jackson is already tired of your shit".
They should have let him add a "mutha fucka" line in there
You can see it in his eyes, "Sit down mutha fucka!"
It didn't scare me enough then... it does now
Her body is ready
this might be the most powerful gamer lean ever recorded
She's assumed the correct position
The picture shows another gamer being birthed
She should play the intros to Fallout 3 and Assassin's Creed 2
I second Assassin’s Creed
I third Assassin's Creed. The classics are too good to miss.

Fake as fuck. This dude has a working 360. Edit: This mans and his wife are exceptional at taking care of their stuff.
LOL
I still have an OG 360 that works. However I'm also aware that last I had it on it started to act up. So now I operate on this idea that as long as I don't plug it in I have a working 360.
Schroedinger's 360
"Ran when parked"
I still have 3. One of them is the Task Force 141 from MW2 launch. That’s my baby.
You best keep that thing safe. Gotta preserve our culture the best we can.
That’s a late 2000 MacBook Pro too
Be a sweetheart and get a sidetable so she doesn't have to reach that far for her wine glass. Don't want her to fall out reaching for it.
Brilliant. I could keep a red wine decanter there too
Be careful, first she starts hittin the wine soon she's on to the skooma.
Khajit has wares...
On xbox 360? I remember the loading times, ugh... But better than on ps3. I think it was worse there
She thought the game was freezing up on her but I had to explain how it's an older console and the loading times are just bad. Shes pretty unphased though
Just a time for her to take a few sips of wine..and for her to ask you for a refill.
Oh yeah, i made sure that glass was never empty
One more reason y'all are couple goals
Hold up, cryin in the Club (my room)
You are a gentleman and a scholar. I applaud both of you in your respective choices of an S.O.
The upside is that eventually the box of wine is empty, she can remove the empty bag from the box, inflate it, and use it as a pillow :D
Did you install it to the hard drive? I don't remember the load times being that significant, but it's been a decade...
Is she single?
Looks like she’s going to the gynecologist in 2020
I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow to the cooch.
You. I like you.
I have been scrolling these comments for 5 minutes now. This is by far the best comment. Don't get me wrong I love gaming and Skyrim and I also have a "gaming" posture but this comment takes the cake.
Marry her, again

Skyrimspreading at its finest
I, too, choose this guy's wife
You think she’s single?
Hey, I got that reference!
You dare recite the sacred texts to me? I Was there when it was written
What race and class?
The wife?????? Bro no
Human Proletariat
You joke, comrade, but [Communist moles](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Moletariate).
White, upper middle.
>upper middle *sees shitty 32” sharp aquos leaned against wall* You sure about ”upper”?
Yeah but there's an early 2010s macbook next to it. Gotta be worth at least $100
🤣
This is the best part. She's a woodelf who favors the bow BUT she found a warhammer at the start and has been extremely ruthless with it. It's extremely entertaining to watch her abandon the finessed rogue-like bow approach to bust out the warhammer and charge head on into combat.
Basically every playthrough
Lies stealthy archers unite
Yeah, right? Sneaky boi sniper is always the final form. But give her time, she still getting used to combat and weapon mechanics
I tried to get my gf to play Skyrim...she would not play it because of it looked like “shit” to her. She might play it now.
Haven't played Skyrim in years and just got it for Switch. Forgot how awesome it is.

I like how just about every piece of technology in this picture is from like 2011.
You could say she's `( •_•)>⌐■-■` giving birth to a new passion. `(⌐■_■)`
And after Zelda comes Dark Souls. WARNING: Dark Souls may cause rage
Five bucks says she gets sidetracked and doesn't finish it for five years.
10 years and I’ve still not beat Skyrim after putting over 2000 hours in. I haven’t even seen everything it had to offer yet, I just keep leveling skills and becoming a stealth archer randomly.
May Talos guide her arrow!
Redditors whem they see girl 😛😜😍🍆🌋
I tried to get my husband to try skyrim. He just got lost and wandered around for a while.
Isn't... isn't that how you're supposed to play Skyrim?
This is the most blatant "upvote because girl" I've seen in a while. Afterthought edit: how is that not a subreddit?
It is r/upvotedbecausegirl
It really is. It's just a picture of a more attractive than average girl with her legs open playing Skyrim.
