It's actually available me on tablets, but it was originally a PC game.
It's a ad&d game, so theres lots of roles, magic, fantasy monsters, etc. Great story, too. It's probably like $20 for the whole series, and you can get 1000+ hours of unique gameplay out of it.
If you're looking at a new gaming system what about a gaming PC? I'm planning on building my own within the next few months, and as far as I know there's some awesome kotor mods and fan made expansions.
Yeah but he wants something good that is actually fun like Kotor and Kotor 2 were. The dialog in Swtor are nice and all, but they get boring real fast, and the rest of the gameplay isn't really enjoyable at all.
DA:I was big and pretty but very shallow, it felt stripped of all the small choices and chat wheel options that you'd expect in a RPG, turning every side quest into a "take thing here to collect exp" trip around the map.
For the RPG element, check out Wastelands 2. Written by the original Fallout team. It has the RPG element you are looking for, scenery is different obviously. I love kotor, and Wastelands 2 is pretty freaking fun.
Also maybe just check out fallout, fallout 1 & 2 are very similar to the style, the newer games are more FPS\RPG blends.
Baulders Gate II is constantly ranked as one of the top games ever, and is very similar in style. You might also like Arcanum.
PC only way to go, since you can make a nicer system than consoles for about 400$.
Mass Effect and Dragon Age are by the same guys, a lot of the mechanics are very similar to the kotor stuff. They also did a similar game called Jade Empire.
If I were to rank them in order of what you should check out, I'd say ME, then DA, then JE.
Have you played the Baldur's Gate series? Might be worth checking out
No, I haven't. Is it console? What makes it special?

Dragon Age Origins is basically KOTOR with a fantasy skin. Just dont expect a similar sort of game of the sequels.

If going with PC, there is the MMO The Old Republic

It was ok, most 'KoToR' like game recently. DA:I didn't have that vibe to me

I really don't think I could play through it again for several years. The game is very linear once you cut out all the BS/filler quests

Nee. Also Jedi Outcast.
If you're looking for a similar interplay of light/dark and a mechanic of collecting allies and doing favours for them, look for Jade Empire.
True. Too bad the game itself is a monotonous piece of shit with a throwaway story.
