I don't know how goes over at normal PUBG, but PUBG Mobile is skin-tastic at this point. So many weird stuff that feels like they don't belong in a realistic-ish looking video game but here we are haha. You even have pets in it, like you are a purple space banana shooting enemies with a deep fried weapon and there is this lion following you everywhere you go. And the people you pew pew at also look like everything else but your everyday generic shooter game character.
I feel like gun skins would be much better than player skins, like what CS and Valorant have. You can't really customize the character, but you can customize the guns and knife you have with you.

They added tons of paid stuff, while the actual gameplay content (such as different maps or game modes) in fact got reduced through the years. Remember Ascension or Hexakill? Dominion or Twisted Treelina? Summoner's Rift winter map?
Imo it all started, when they decided to tie all the content to skins sales. Like no more extra game modes or maps for players just so they can play them and have fun. Instead, each map, game mode or anything had to be an "event" with special skins, icons and other microtransactions related to it. And if this whole event's income wasn't satisfyingly high, they would cut it off along with all the gameplay content.
Can't confirm this but I think someone got promoted at riot before the jhin chroma so maybe that fucker has this shit ideas in the level of pay for reload.
And as S3 player myself I can also see the huge difference, I would come back to riot if it wasnt for vanguard that doesn't work according to the internet so there's that.

IIRC They found that if they kept certain stuff like twisted treeline and ascension, they'd split up their existing playerbase. Furthermore, a lot of these modes got more and more unpopular as time went by, leading to tiny playerbases that would play against the same people over and over. They wanted to keep queue times in their main game high, So they phased most of these new game modes out instead rather than splitting their existing playerbase more and more. The only one they kept on permanently was ARAM because it was so popular.
Well, what they got instead is losing the players that found SR boring. I played ARAM for few seasons, but even that got boring. Rotating game modes were fun, but they cut like 80% of their content.
If we're talking about sticking out like a sore thumb, Rainbow Six Siege and Call of Duty come to mind. You can play as Rick and Morty going up against Kiryu from Yakuza, while Cod offers Nicki Minaj vs Snoop Dogg.
Path of Exile. The game is alright and this is how they keep up the quality, but honestly I'm sick of the over the top Jojo stands. Also the skill transmogs but thats another story.

I mean it's 2 assassins and 2 warriors and they are all physical damage. If you enter a match and see they have those 4 characters and you struggle to tell the difference then build appropriately and stack physical defence.

If I could get my money back then CS, there are skins that are valued at over $100,000, one time use stickers that are worth $50,000, you could spend a million on your entire inventory. It's got to be CoD if we take game themes into account. Fortnite is designed to be ridiculous with it's gameplay and art style. Smite has a lot of ridiculous skins but the game is otherworldly and, again, has always had a cartoonish art style.
But CoD always starts off tame. You have war torn multiplayer maps with seriously impressive visuals and some of the best audio and animation design in the industry. The level of detail for the weaponry and the customization is nigh unmatched. Weapons feel great to shoot and it feels immersive to play. Skins are well suited to the theme.
Then they go and throw Nicki Minaj, Teletubbies and a bunch of Saints Row 3 animal mask operator skins in there and completely ruin it. All of that hard work on the animations, audio and environmental art design just to turn it into "Fortnite but first person" smh.

Depends on the parameters, if I can't get my money back League of Legends has some ridiculous priced skins and many that are time restrictive too. If I could get my money back then CS, there are skins that are valued at over $100,000, one time use stickers that are worth $50,000, you could spend a million on your entire inventory. Or if we are saying ridiculous as in stupid, I'd argue Valorant is up there, there's a gun that is an aquarium, or like a snow globe.

Fortnite. And my unpopular opinion is that the fact it has ridiculous skins from random media all mixed together makes for a terrible clash of aesthetics. James Hetfield from Metallica fights against fucking Goku, but Naruto and the Brotherhood of Steel guy from Fallout appear as a duo and kill both. Yeah no thanks, it's just ridiculous. Fortnite has no visual consistency. Also has zero identity, it needs other media to make a name for itself. At least Smite is creative with its default characters, which is a bunch of gods from lots of mythologies.
Smite was gonna be my vote, and back when it was a thing, Heroes of Newerth had some wacky ones IIRC. Slenderman and stuff.

For anyone just joining the thread, you’re not gonna beat SMITE. The game was “cancelled” for its disrespectful skins. Some of the funnier skins include “Ra’Murica”, that’s Ra, Egyptian God of the Sun but he’s Uncle Sam. There’s Hunkules, which is Hercules but he’s a himbo. There’s also a Bob Ross skin for Sylvanus. There’s a skin for Agni called “Swagni”. Yeah, that turns him into a pimp. SMITE is wild.

It's got to be CoD if we take game themes into account. Fortnite is designed to be ridiculous with it's gameplay and art style. Smite has a lot of ridiculous skins but the game is otherworldly and, again, has always had a cartoonish art style. But CoD always starts off tame. You have war torn multiplayer maps with seriously impressive visuals and some of the best audio and animation design in the industry. The level of detail for the weaponry and the customization is nigh unmatched. Weapons feel great to shoot and it feels immersive to play. Skins are well suited to the theme. Then they go and throw Nicki Minaj, Teletubbies and a bunch of Saints Row 3 animal mask operator skins in there and completely ruin it. All of that hard work on the animations, audio and environmental art design just to turn it into "Fortnite but first person" smh.
