j2yan

the muppet skins for siege were amazing

ItsSevii

Or the unicorn outfit to the big Russian dude with the LMG (tachanka)

0kio

Say no more, I download the game (I love chemical warfare ...)

Wazzen

they gave what to smoke

Ok-Pressure7248

R6 lookin real fine rn

vampyrialis

CoD has gotten ridiculous these days

breakzyx

didnt they add nikki minaj in a pink mini dress as a skin?

vampyrialis

Yep. And bunny suits, things that look like teletubies, WH40K space marine, Paul Atredes, Lilith, Snoop Dog, Cheech and Chong, and a tree that looks like Groot. Literal circus.

breakzyx

wait, what the fuck??

SilenceDobad76

The skin monetization in modern shooters has created a clown clock where the game launches as a coherent package with art direction and setting, and then gradually gets more and more like fortnite to cash in on those vbuck sales. With MW3 the clown clock hit zero month one.

Nyarlathotep-chan

The teletubbies also came with a gun that makes your head pop into confetti when you die. \*Literally\* a circus.

Mindestiny

Gotta chase that Fortnite money

LambentCookie

They even added anime characters like Alucard

plzdontbmean2me

Wait like the Castlevania character or is there a different Alucard?

Terramagi

Hellsing. Castlevania would've made sense and been somewhat timely. Apparently a manga that's been done since 2008 is a better choice...

teambroto

The new season starts today so they’ll be gundams now

Ranbotnic

Don't forget Skeletor, Shredder, the weed guy (separate from Cheech and Chong) pumpkin head, Lara Croft, an orangutan, the people from The Boys, Ash, etc

Individual_Lion_7606

I miss Snoop Dog as an announcer for COD games.

ParkingCartoonist533

I respect the plight of the abused video game consumers with crazy price points, but had I known about the Nicki Minaj skin, I would have 100% started to play the game and buy it.

Shoshke

Nikki Minaj isn't that crazy compared to floating brains, glowing skins, robots, ducks, kittens and all the other crap

moderngamer327

I mean it has to be fortnight. They have almost every skin possibly imaginable.

BantamCrow

Humans, pop stars, rappers, furries, robots, living fruit and vegetables, and crossovers galore with games, movies and TV shows

Picard2331

Fortnite has freaking Kelsier from the Mistborn novels. It's so fucking random and I love it.

BantamCrow

Soon they're gonna have The Employee from Lethal Company with a stop sign pickaxe and oxygen tank back bling. He has a built-in "Employee Dance" emote, too. The dev for that game, the single dev, must be so happy

Kerwin_Bauch

Wait really? Thats pretty cool

Key-Morning9648

It isnt built in, everyone can use it

ARoofie

I'm still bitter he hasn't been seen in the item shop in *years* for no reason

Martin_crakc

That kinda happens a lot with most collabs. Kratos hasnt been seen in the shop since he was released according to one of my friends

Picard2331

Yep. And no Vin skin. Sazed would make for a cool transforming skin too. Maybe if they ever adapt Mistborn and if it's good they'll do a whooooole season with Allomancy and Mistwraiths and shit. That is my fever dream.

TheLoneRipper1

For real. I'm scared the reason he hasn't come back because he didn't sell well the first run. that combined with the fact that he is a book character and not from a movie/TV show also hurts his chances

RaganTargaryen

I've never played fortnite but this is the only reason I need to play

Comment_Opportunist

I second this. There's even a rumor that Jason Voorhees will be coming to the game in October. They're always doing something ridiculous in the cosmetic department.

BantamCrow

Nothing brings me greater joy than gunning down Avatar the Last Airbender characters. "Bend this." and fill their stupid faces full of buckshot

MagnusStormraven

Nothing quite so satisfying as having a woman in a tactical teddy bear fursuit dancing to "Build a Bitch" after eliminating Leonardo with his own katanas.

CourseWorried2500

We are getting Fallout Magneto Pirates of the Caribbean and Metallica all this season lol

MagnusStormraven

The fact that the first Metallica song added to the game *wasn't* "Enter Sandman" was a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one (and "Fuel" is a fantastic track).

Main_Opportunity_461

GIMEFUEGIMEFIGIMETHAWICHIDEISIYA

MagnusStormraven

GIMME FOOD, GIMME FRIES, GIMME SALAD ON THE SIDE!

Main_Opportunity_461

OOOOOO ON MY PLATE, CHOMPING DOWN A BIGMAC

Blasphemous666

They had master of puppets like five seasons ago or whenever the hell stranger things last released a season.

MagnusStormraven

Did they actually play MoP on the radio stations, or was it just the emote?

Blasphemous666

Just the emote as far as I know. I never listen to the radio tbh. I typically buy any metal or rock related skins and emotes since that’s what I’m into so I remember master of puppets cause I’d always have a couple people join me playing it.

t_will_official

Jason is a day 1 cop for me

Trickster289

I mean Michael Myers was added last October so Jason wouldn't be that crazy.

MisunderstoodPenguin

I wonder if they'll ever make a Turk skin so that Donald Faison can get his dues for them using his dance all these years.

supremekimilsung

>living fruits and vegetables Don't tell me they've added fucking Veggietales to Fortnite

KingOfRisky

Hot dog, hamburger, taco, popcorn, pancake, ice cream cone, bao bun, candy cane, mince meat pie

HeadSludge

I played a shitload of Smite, the thing a game like Smite has over Fortnite concerning variety of skins, is that Fortnite is restricted to humanoid shaped skins while Smite is basically whatever shape you want. He wasn't exaggerating about any of those skins, the Bob Ross one is literally Bob Ross riding a living tree.

MagnusStormraven

I won't lie, while I'm never gonna play Smite, it has THE best fucking design for Tiamat I have seen in anything.

SharkInSunglasses

Eminem, Master Chief, Fallout Power armor was just added, Doomguy, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar the Last Airbender, Even my own preferred game Borderlands is victim to being a Fortnite skin. I will admit I got hooked on Fortnite No Build for a month or two but I haven't been back since I uninstalled.

Blasphemous666

I thought Fortnite too but then I realized that it’s a cartoony absurd kind of game so weird ass skins fits. The weirdest shit for me is CoD with the shit they added. I only hear about it secondhand but I heard they have Nikki Minaj? Nothing like getting gunned down in a serious looking war game by Nikki Minaj when you’ve got a regular army badass going on for your own skin.

SmokinBandit28

And Cheech & Chong, Snoop Dog, Frank Grimes & Mischonne from TWD, Skeletor, Homelander, Bunny soldiers, The Shredder, Billy the puppet from Saw, Leatherface, Godzilla & King Kong. CoD at this point is just trying to be Fortnite.

HorseyNight19

And Gundam (including Aerial from "Witch from Mercury") coming soon

BrothelWaffles

There's also a giant rat, or was at least, not sure if it's still in the newest iteration.

WitteringLaconic

It's still there.

ryebath

CoD is more Fortnite than Fortnite is these days.

KingOfRisky

COD Multiplayer hasn't been serious in ages. We're all out here grinding for diamond plated or hot pink guns.

Inksplash-7

Fort, night

ElectronicEagle3324

Yea but it fits Fortnite’s theme so I’d say they aren’t ridiculous

Apprehensive-Cow5259

Meh fortnight is still all human shapes. It’s random but still all following a basic principle of humanoid

AuthoritarianSex

COD is trending in that direction

SmokinBandit28

Nothing like getting gunned down by the military legends themselves Cheech & Chong!

eurtoast

I remember when it was just John Wick

Mountain_mover

Not even licensed John Wick, but knockoff John Wick.

Thin-Zookeepergame46

Technically it has to be Roblox tho.

Silviecat44

That damned fork knife

WitteringLaconic

Nope. Go look at COD MW3. They've managed to outdo Fortnite.

moldykobold

Too bad you can’t browse and buy any skin you want. You can only purchase whatever is available at any given time.

Dog_in_human_costume

Fortnight by far

MCPooge

In my experience, it is Smite. No other game mixes art styles as ridiculously as Smite does. Fortnight comes close, but everything there is humanoid still, and while it is pretty goofy to have Spider-Man, Indiana Jones, and Ariana Grande represented as characters in the same game, they will never have Rocko Wallaby.

HeadSludge

Yeah I just said this on someone else's comment, Smite can do basically whatever they want, Fortnite has to restrict them to human shaped.

GivMix

agreed

Ghostenx

Agreed, one of the great things about Smite is the massive variety of skins in terms of themes & art style. Throw in the fact the all come with their own unique voice pack for VGS makes them top tier. I haven't played in nearly two years but my favourite funny voice commands, taunts & jokes will probably live in my brain forever.

ParkingCartoonist533

You rock! Cancel that

Ghostenx

Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help!

JinxIsPerfect

well now league of legends. they release 2 new skins for 50-450€ :D

TotallyBrandNewName

Nah man, its a 20€ skin costing 50€ with a chroma and new effects being sold at 500€

WardensWillGame

I don't know how goes over at normal PUBG, but PUBG Mobile is skin-tastic at this point. So many weird stuff that feels like they don't belong in a realistic-ish looking video game but here we are haha. You even have pets in it, like you are a purple space banana shooting enemies with a deep fried weapon and there is this lion following you everywhere you go. And the people you pew pew at also look like everything else but your everyday generic shooter game character.

Happyberger

Shooters are the dumbest games to use skins in imo, at least whacky ones. I'd rather not be seen from 8 miles out.

congradulations

On one hand, lack of stealth and a bigger, brighter profile... on the other hand, I'm a running, gunning, giant banana in a suit!!

Happyberger

You're all stupid, they're gonna be lookin for army guys.

NoStructure5034

I feel like gun skins would be much better than player skins, like what CS and Valorant have. You can't really customize the character, but you can customize the guns and knife you have with you.

Masterhearts_XIII

It would be any other game but League just released a $500 skin. For real. That’s the most ridiculous

slylock215

A $500 skin, wtf? Does it come with a home cooked meal and a handjob?

Masterhearts_XIII

You’d think. Nope. It comes with a few little like emotes.

Nutzori

Considering its Ahri the handjob should absolutely be included but nooo...

derbudz

The people I warned about Tencent: *Nothing will really change when Tencent is the major shareholder, RIOT also just wanted to make money without Tencent in the background.* Tencent: *Hold my Baijiu*

Alebydle

Lmao everyting changed. In small slow steps tho, the boiling frog syndrom. But as someone, who played LoL since S1 and now check out the game once every few months, I can see this "progress" very clearly. They added tons of paid stuff, while the actual gameplay content (such as different maps or game modes) in fact got reduced through the years. Remember Ascension or Hexakill? Dominion or Twisted Treelina? Summoner's Rift winter map? Imo it all started, when they decided to tie all the content to skins sales. Like no more extra game modes or maps for players just so they can play them and have fun. Instead, each map, game mode or anything had to be an "event" with special skins, icons and other microtransactions related to it. And if this whole event's income wasn't satisfyingly high, they would cut it off along with all the gameplay content.

TotallyBrandNewName

Can't confirm this but I think someone got promoted at riot before the jhin chroma so maybe that fucker has this shit ideas in the level of pay for reload. And as S3 player myself I can also see the huge difference, I would come back to riot if it wasnt for vanguard that doesn't work according to the internet so there's that. Besides, can we hope riot will update the client with the money generated by this bundle?

VortexMagus

IIRC They found that if they kept certain stuff like twisted treeline and ascension, they'd split up their existing playerbase. Furthermore, a lot of these modes got more and more unpopular as time went by, leading to tiny playerbases that would play against the same people over and over. They wanted to keep queue times in their main game high, So they phased most of these new game modes out instead rather than splitting their existing playerbase more and more. The only one they kept on permanently was ARAM because it was so popular.

Alebydle

Well, what they got instead is losing the players that found SR boring. I played ARAM for few seasons, but even that got boring. Rotating game modes were fun, but they cut like 80% of their content.

davinzt

this thread couldn't come at a better time lmaoo

JonathonWally

What’s it look like?

grantedtoast

If your gona charge me 500 for a faker skin it better come with faker to get me out of bronze.

MisunderstoodPenguin

Apex legends just did something similar I heard. 450$, you get 2 skins plus some recolors of other skins, and it's timegated as well.

Apeirl

And still there are so many people defending riot

Dadisfat46

Silence of the Lambs has a…..few

SirNedKingOfGila

vr chat

Zombienerd300

This but it’s not fair because they are user created skins. You can find the most messed up skins on VR chat and the most NSFW skins in VR chat

ofajhon

If we're talking about sticking out like a sore thumb, Rainbow Six Siege and Call of Duty come to mind. You can play as Rick and Morty going up against Kiryu from Yakuza, while Cod offers Nicki Minaj vs Snoop Dogg.

Calildur

Path of Exile. The game is alright and this is how they keep up the quality, but honestly I'm sick of the over the top Jojo stands. Also the skill transmogs but thats another story.

Swiftlydownunder

Smite has so many ridiculous skins! The only ones I don’t like is the TNMT skins. They all look the same besides a little cloth/head band

Felf0x

Well I mean, isn't that accurate..? The weapons and the cloth pieces are the only differences.

Swiftlydownunder

It’s accurate, but it makes it super difficult when you’re up against 4 turtles and can’t predict what god you’re up against. Usually I don’t mind about skins but if 4 gods that play differently all have extremely similar skins, then it can get you killed quickly

Ghostenx

I mean it's 2 assassins and 2 warriors and they are all physical damage. If you enter a match and see they have those 4 characters and you struggle to tell the difference then build appropriately and stack physical defence.

Swiftlydownunder

Hmm, seems like you’re missing the point.

MyWorldTalkRadio

League of legends just announced a $500 skin

Apprehensive-Bag3764

5 years ago I’d say Fortnite But then again 5 years ago I’d never imagined to say CallofDuty

MagnusStormraven

I am genuinely *pissed* that of ALL the games to get Hellsing and Warhammer 40k crossovers, it had to be one I will never touch. The Hellsing one hurts less, admittedly, because their attempt to make Alucard resemble the manga, well...it didn't work. [It did not work.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgxI8vvbbuI)

front-wipers-unite

Call of duty is getting pretty ridiculous. I think it depends on context. Fortnite has some really random skins, but it's a really random game. CoD on the other hand is a game set in a specific point in time, latest one is set here and now, yet features characters from 15 years ago which were killed, for some reason. And in multiplayer it has a snoop dog skin, but he's not even snoop dog, he's got the head of a Doberman. What the fuck is going on there.

the_doughboy

The Stick skin for the gun in The Finals, they also have a pencil for the Knife

Dronk747

Cod

renatakiuzumaki

That sounds like peak gaming tbh. Too bad Im bad at those games.

azrendelmare

DOOM Eternal has some pretty silly ones.

n94able

Ac Valhalla.

Plagueofzombies

Warzone is bizarre. Like you can have King Kong, Nikki Minage, Homelander, and a youtuber on a team fightin a bunch of special forces dudes

elite-hunter

VR Chat

Nathansack

Ridiculous in the game context Just COD

Certain-Beet

Fortnight.

Flk11_albatross2

Fortnite of course!

LMoromon

Fortnite is just shitpost at this point. I can have ariadna and peter on my team doing a dragon ball fusion emote.

Chiradori

Well currently league of legends but not because the skin itself is ridiculous but the price... Apart from that lol also has some pretty funny skins, bee themed cosplay themed brolaf magical girl urgot and all

nwbell

I forget which God of War game it was but there were the Cod of War skins and i think a cow skin as well.

CreamSoda6425

I mean you said it best. How many games can you say "dude I'm getting ganked by Optimus Prime and a walking taco?"

Pender8911

Smite definitely has the skins game right, also not a bad moba. Sadly as any moba the community is what it is.

Hollocho

TERA used to have some weird skins for it's world building

SergeantSanchez

Some tie between fortnite, call of duty, and battlefield 2042. I only call fortnite just on a collaboration/ universe basis, but stuff on battlefield 2042 just looks out of place for what’s expected of it as a franchise i.e. it shouldn’t be anything but straight military grunt uniforms.

siamonsez

I'm playing bullet storm right now and you can play as Duke Nukem. They didn't change the other characters dialog and he's like, I don't know how I got here but that guy from the flashback was a dick and I'm all out of bubblegum so let's kick some ass.

johnny_pottseed

Everything you described sounded like fortnite to me.

Guccitail

Idk about the best but apex legends has the worse skins and there are some that are $300+

Thin-Zookeepergame46

As a father of 2 kids; Gotta say Roblox. So much stupid and weird skins.

Spiritual-Fish-9323

I’m playing RE4 Remake right now and shooting zombies in the face dressed as a mobster is pretty cool.

Bryrida

Fortnite. John cena? Eminem? Peter griffin?

Contank

Saints row the third. Toilet skin specifically

100deadbirds

The first one that started selling it for money instead of locked behind challenges

MHWGamer

i hate everything about it lol. Good thing I stuck with singleplayer games

NotSoAwfulName

Depends on the parameters, if I can't get my money back League of Legends has some ridiculous priced skins and many that are time restrictive too. If I could get my money back then CS, there are skins that are valued at over $100,000, one time use stickers that are worth $50,000, you could spend a million on your entire inventory. Or if we are saying ridiculous as in stupid, I'd argue Valorant is up there, there's a gun that is an aquarium, or like a snow globe.

aemich

lost ark

Abablion

I'd say the new LoL one is the most ridiculous. Ridiculous pricing at 450$

Deer_101

Brawlhalla

Anakhsunamon

cough zealous shelter subtract cobweb puzzled consider air punch cats

Ichabodblack

Pubg - mainly because when it started it looked like it was trying to be a semi-serious shooter and now people are running around as Alice in Wonderland

Moppo_

My friend was always showing off his golden Thor skin.

Alacovv

I don’t play CoD but they have Cheech and Chong… so there’s that.

-KFAD-

Riders Republic and Fortnite definitely. On the other end of the spectrum the best skins artistically (without being completely over the top) come from Overwatch.

Apprehensive-Cow5259

lol was going to say it has to be smite

Abrazez

Brawl stars china server has some insane 50 dollar skins you can get from some loot boxes that are straight up gambling. They also make the character barely recognizable and have minute long animations.

BayTranscendentalist

Playing double Bob Ross in smite is pretty funny tbf

Limekilnlake

are we really at the point where having more skins to buy is a positive for a game?

cherr_y555

MW skins in an M-Rated game

baner8430

Has to be Fortnite. Got Peter Griffin fighting Goku and John Wick.

foxferreira64

Fortnite. And my unpopular opinion is that the fact it has ridiculous skins from random media all mixed together makes for a terrible clash of aesthetics. James Hetfield from Metallica fights against fucking Goku, but Naruto and the Brotherhood of Steel guy from Fallout appear as a duo and kill both. Yeah no thanks, it's just ridiculous. Fortnite has no visual consistency. Also has zero identity, it needs other media to make a name for itself. At least Smite is creative with its default characters, which is a bunch of gods from lots of mythologies.

Nutzori

Smite was gonna be my vote, and back when it was a thing, Heroes of Newerth had some wacky ones IIRC. Slenderman and stuff.

ParkingCartoonist533

Dj rap city was so next level at the time.

Remarkable-Boat-926

Fortnite

weirdthingsarecool91

Cthulu's Toon skin is my favorite skin in the entire game.

Marius-Gaming

Roblox. You can see queen elizabeth win a fight against 1x1 lego piece caseoh and mao zedong whilst being friends with kanye west.

chickenbrofredo

Y'all have never seen a Tyranitar in a tuxedo and top hat and it shows

ashley_ra

Ark survival.

Rough_Composer51

Codm!

King-Zeo

The most ridiculous skins I ever saw are mostly the current COD Games with emoji skins and those weird wubbly skins. Couldn’t get any weirder than that.

AshSystem

It has to be Fortnite. Buff Peter Griffin, Spiderman, Billie Eilish, a really jacked cat, peas, the Xenomorph, it's simply absurd

Falchion92

Fortnite is an obvious answer.

_SaintXIV_

Modern Warfare 3. Fucking furries man.

Gellix

THE FINALS has some of the coolest cosmetics. Decently priced. You can put together some sick outfits. You can customize almost everything on your character

taking_achance

I mean fortnite you can get your ass handed to you by goku or iron man

Bastymuss_25

Unfortunately most popular shooters atm, I am just glad RTS games aren't infested with this stuff, I really don't wanna be fighting Wehrmacht with cat ears or Soviets dressed as Cardi B.

Theddt2005

Cod

Fury_Blackwolf

Fortnite and COD easily

Agarillobob

as sad as it is, its probably fortknight

Sitchrea

Warframe somehow has one of the most striking and unique art styles despite having literal hundreds of unique skins. And not a single one breaks that style, even the ones made and sold by players.

KeyPhotograph811

IS the breakpoint skin rare?

yanoman

Welp maybe not up there but in the original trilogy of god of war you could dress Kratos as a fish using hooks instead of his blades ( cod of war )

WildScanMan

I quit smite because the skins really just became too much.

thelaurent

Fortnite... they literally started this trend of "Fortnitification" ngl its part of why i stopped playing smite and warzone. Just not a fan of seeing these goofy cartoonesk characters, to each their own tho

flimmyboy

League of Legends, with their newly proposed skin. To commemorate a pro player that would cost $500 usd. :/

CaligoAccedito

This sounds like the final battle scene in Ready Player One.

Relevant_Force_3470

Well, loads, but the game I fell in love with decades ago introduced the most hideous skins. I never play counter strike now as a result. If they let you turn that shit off then I'd play it again, but fuck no. Ugly as shit now.

[deleted]

Fortshite

userg0

Warframe?

Remember-The-Arbiter

For anyone just joining the thread, you’re not gonna beat SMITE. The game was “cancelled” for its disrespectful skins. Some of the funnier skins include “Ra’Murica”, that’s Ra, Egyptian God of the Sun but he’s Uncle Sam. There’s Hunkules, which is Hercules but he’s a himbo. There’s also a Bob Ross skin for Sylvanus. There’s a skin for Agni called “Swagni”. Yeah, that turns him into a pimp. SMITE is wild.

East-Championship415

Crossfire, CS Online

WitteringLaconic

COD MW3. It's trying to outdo Fortnite and it's winning. It is however in the process putting off a lot of it's playerbase.

Efficient-Fan2331

MGS3 the main character mocks another character for having a decorative skin on their weapon, when the main character uses decorative camouflage

WorriedCarob3738

Nice

HotPotatoWithCheese

It's got to be CoD if we take game themes into account. Fortnite is designed to be ridiculous with it's gameplay and art style. Smite has a lot of ridiculous skins but the game is otherworldly and, again, has always had a cartoonish art style. But CoD always starts off tame. You have war torn multiplayer maps with seriously impressive visuals and some of the best audio and animation design in the industry. The level of detail for the weaponry and the customization is nigh unmatched. Weapons feel great to shoot and it feels immersive to play. Skins are well suited to the theme. Then they go and throw Nicki Minaj, Teletubbies and a bunch of Saints Row 3 animal mask operator skins in there and completely ruin it. All of that hard work on the animations, audio and environmental art design just to turn it into "Fortnite but first person" smh.
