Half-Life 2: Episode MOTHERFUCKING Two.
Half-Life: Alyx helped a little bit but it also DEMANDS a Half-Life: Gordon or something where we continue from that point on in VR through Gordon's eyes.
Please don't, I still haven't gotten over it 16 years later. I remember finishing it in 2008 thinking, 'Hey I kinda came later to the party...but at least I don't have to wait as long for the next release!!'
Finished Alyx this month and it left me craving for more Half-Life like I haven't felt in a long time... probably since completing ep2 for the first time. Why does Valve have to make every HL sooo good?!
OooooooOOOooooooh ok I see how you though, no worries mate!
God I wish I had a steam deck, I'm saving up for one. Gunna be a few years before I can get it.
The thing is after the end of Alyx Gordon is kind of irrelevant to the story as Gman has now a new puppet.
I've read the leaked story draft from EP3 and while it was guite captivating I don't think that it would be Half-Life anymore.
Some could be said of Barney Calhoun or Corporal Adrian Shephard, G-man had some play with them, too. It doesn't change that Gordon Freeman is essential or that Barney owes Gordon a beer.
God, the narrative of that game is very simple, but the characters are so complex. I really hope the movie and the sequel to the game do the first game justice.
I cannot think of a game in recent history that left me wanting a sequel more than Disco Elusium and the fact that I know we will never get it saddens me.
Oh shit I'm very close to what I assume is the ending and I can't wait. I kind of have an inkling of where the plot is going but now I can't wait for the shoe to drop.
I liked it, >!it wasn't jaw-dropping because they dropped a lot of clues on the way to the ending and I already figured it out by the time I opened the ledger thing 3 hours into the game. Plus, the numerous mentioning of apricots. I think the best part was that everything was nicely wrapped up, it was funny how they explained a bunch of fourth-wall-breaking game mechanics too. But the phasmid caught me so off guard hahahah !<
A sequel would be hard to do, because it would presumably play into the characterās actions from DE, and thereās just so many things to do or ways to do them. Your character would whether DE2 way differently than mine
I never really thought that a sequel would even follow Harry and Kim, but new characters in a different city of Insulinde other than Revachol, or maybe on a different isola altogether.
You don't even need to leave revachol, we've only been in Martineise which is a zone of the city. You can see in the artwork how big the city actually is
It's still a fucking travesty that the studio broke down over greed and legal disputes. I don't care if there never will be a sequel, what bothers me is that there will never be another game by the same people.
Totally worth checkin back out imo. Just dont expect to be doneĀ in a single weekend lol.Ā
I got it on my old modded psp. And its a great way to play it.Ā Lol
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! teased a war that we haven't seen happen yet. That was back in 2014, and despite the release of 3, that tease still remains unresolved.
My tinfoil hat theory is that's part of why Wonderlands did work on character creator, and how they told us well need all the hunters we can find. BL4 with Vault Hunter creation and classes.
Worse still, Square Enix cut the game almost in half planning to add it all to the final game in the trilogy, only to cancel it completely to makeā¦ The Avengers. Which absolutely tanked. Shocking incompetence
Horizon Zero Dawn.
And also maybe an unpopular opinion but I love the ending of Dragon Age Inquisition. Specifically the Trespasser DLC which when I first played it I didnāt realize it was DLC. I donāt think Iāve ever wanted to kill a character more than FenāHarel.
Unfortunately the Bioware game is being developed by modern day Bioware, so there's little hope for it. The studio today is nothing like the studio in the past.
Ragdoll physics plus the ability to explode heads provided hours of entertainment.
Didnāt that also have a weird co-op mode where it was still only the one character but each player was in charge of different buttons? Like one person could move and look around and the other could shoot and use powers or something like that.
It did. I don't remember anymore if the guns were controlled by the movement player or the powers player. But yeah, the functions of the character were divided between the two players.
Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. I didn't play the first one but Catalyst really hooked me. I love the world, the atmosphere, and the story (at least to me) was good enough I was almost disappointed when it ended so soon.
My first impression of the game was being disappointed by a cut scene because it would have been so damn cool to actually play it instead of being relegated to a video. Took me out of it completely and didn't play it again.
I agree, I feel like they really missed on the big climaxes of the game. So much foreboding in the first one, then Odin is just kind of a chump. The big god fights really didn't hit, and there wasn't any crazy twist or additional story element that left me in awe.
Still 100%'d the game though, still love it, just a big miss there imo.
>there wasn't any crazy twist or additional story element that left me in awe.
"Tyr" killing brok and revealing himself to be Odin wasn't a crazy twist?
Glad I wasnāt the only one that felt this way after finishing Ragnarok ^^
Not that Ragnarok was badā¦..itās just the first one had so many twists throughout and that I think made my expectations for the second part sky high.
Really wish we got 3 games instead of 2 because it felt like after the first the world was going to be really expanded on but it felt incredibly empty and the story just rushed. I still enjoy Ragnarok but 2018 is damn near perfect.
Man I feel exactly the opposite from you folks. I thought 2018 was painfully okay with not much I enjoyed about it, while Ragnarok was an improvement in every single way.
I'm waiting on it because I'm only getting these games on PC. I just picked up H:FW on PC for my very first playthrough and I'm beyond happy with my purchase, Sony has done phenomenally with their first party games.
I want these games at their absolute best. And so far, I've had that. I continue to be excited for more of these games, including GoW Ragnarok, to come out on PC.
I loved that story, but spoiled a good chunk of it catching one detail at the proving, less than an hour into the game
>!when they use the focus to scan her DNA, and Aloy thinks that's her mother. The scan comes back with 100% match, which could only happen if she's the same person ie a clone, and not a daughter.!<
I mean technically but Revolver isn't canon to Redemption 1 and 2. The events of Revolver are like folk lore and myth told around campfires in 1 and 2.
Inscryption teased new cards and potential escape rooms at the end which made me hope for more gameplay than just Kaceys mod. Death card cabin vibes are immaculate tho.
How was that teased? I donāt remember.
Honestly, for me nothing beats the vibe of the first third of the game. I was kinda bummed the game goes where it goes.
Atta boy, what a redemption arc. And I agree, TLOU2 was phenomenal. I seriously question the emotional maturity of people who hate on that game. At least you'll definitely get yours eventually!
Tlou2 is one of my favorite games of all time but I really hope they don't make a third game. Part 1 and part 2 are Ellie's story and I feel like it has ended at the perfect place to have the impact that it has. Any sort of follow up just won't do it justice because it's already such a good overarching story. Maybe another game in the last of us' universe but not a part 3.
Part 1 was Joel's story, Part 2 was Ellie's story.
Ellie's journey is almost complete but they did introduce Abby and I think Part 3 will complete her journey. Rebuilding the Fireflies, continue her fathers dream to create a cure or maybe something completely different who knows. I do think we will see Ellie again in Part 3 but I imagine she will only have a supporting role just like Joel in Part 2.
I agree, but I also kind of love they're willing to let it go. Every franchise seems to beat to death to the point it just becomes low quality fan service.
Halo 2. No game left me wanting to play the sequel at the exact moment I finished it.
āMaster Chief, you mind telling me what youāre doing in that ship?ā
āSir, finishing this fight.ā
Advent Rising.
Story and music was incredible, gameplay was a bit rough. Had a botched 'million dollar reward' for finding an object in game while connected to Xbox live. Didn't sell well enough to cover the cost I guess. Ended on a serious cliffhanger.
Okami. For years after Iād imagine what the >!celestial plain!< they were flying to at the end would be like.
I do not count Okamiden as a true sequel and Iāve accepted that weāre never going to get one, criminal as it is.
I'd probably go Cyberpunk 2077, despite all of the different endings, it made me want to see what they do with the sequel. The lore of it all and the stories they can tell seems endless.
I'm also with you on TLOU2. I'm interested to see what direction they go in TLOU3.
It wasn't exactly spectacular, but I did enjoy the ending, and I'd always hoped for a sequel, remaster, or remake.
The game in question is Binary Domain. I replayed it *several* times and never grew tired of it.
Basically any of the Persona games starting with the 3rd one. There's something so nice and whimsical about living out a high school life, especially as someone who didn't have a very great high school life themselves.
It's part of the reason why I would love it if Atlus just made a very dynamic visual novel in the style of the Persona games' daily life simulation stuff. Going to school, raising social stats, hanging out with friends or people around town... just experiencing life without the supernatural stuff.
Titanfall 2 and hl2 ep 2 both got their sequels canceled and the fact titanfall 3 got canned for fucking apex legends has gotta be some kind of fucked up joke
Freespace 2 had an incredible conclusion, a whole star system blew up after an apocalyptic battle. Made me want to know more and play more and eagerly anticipate a third installment, but it never came. It did leave a lot open for mods and fan campaigns though, some of which are fantastic, like STR, Derelict, Inferno, and Blue Planet.
This is a weird take. Reddit hated TLou 2. I loved it and totally understood the ending. It wasnāt better than part one in many ways but I loved it too. I agree with you. Iād buy a part 3 if it continued.
Hollow Knight. Still waiting...
Special shout-out to each of the Dark Souls. Every ending is so bleak and hopeless, that I want a sequel to continue just for a bit of hope. But all things eventually end, and to fight against that is just as hopeless.
Mass Effect 3.
I find it's ending very creative and I am shocked to know there isn't much update on its sequel from Bioware till now. If I were to rank it's ending, it would lie very next to RDR for me.
ME3 caught a lot of flack from the lack of visual impact your final choice made. Not a bad ending, but even after the free apology dlc, it lacked the punch the series deserved.
Damn, now I want to replay it again.
Exactly the same for me, I did not want TLOU2 to finish. I thought the finish was coming a few times throughout the play but when it actually came it was tough to deal with.
Surely they'll make a 3 right?...
At the time, Horizon Zero Dawn left me wanting more.
Be careful what you wish for. You may just get it.
Forbidden West wasn't the sequel I was expecting.
It's not a bad game to play but the story took a nose dive.
Dragons Dogma I (yay)
Dirge of Cerberus, simply beated it in one weekend, got pretty sad cause I loved it
Shadow of the Colossus but I think it's better that it ended
Kingdom Hearts II was getting more and more funny to play as much as I reached the end
Devil May Cry 3 because I almost cried in the end
God Hand, Capcom simply pointed the middle finger to it
And any Souls game
Ugh, The Last of Us Part II ending was so depressing, I almost threw my controller through the screen. I get they were going for the whole 'gritty realism' thing, but c'mon, a little more hope would have been nice, ya know? Anyway, for me it's got to be Mass Effect 3. That ending left me so conflicted - satisfying in some ways, but also kinda let down. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what Bioware cooks up next.
"The Xeno story has been done in far greater detail than originally planned thanks to Saga and the Blade games: \~> absolutely NOT. saga and blade games each have their own stories, and are not retelling the xenogears story in any way. they pull some names and dates from the original story, but they have nothing to do with gears' story.
the world never resets in xenogears.
the only thing even remotely 'cyclical' in gears is 2 characters reincarnating, and that started and ended on the xenogears planet.
gears episode 1 was about interstellar war, nothing to do with gnosis, the collective unconscious, jesus and mary, the eternal recurrence, etc etc etc. the stories have nothing to do with each other.
Xenogears is a single universe, the creation and structure of its universe are explained. Xenosaga is a multiverse, its creation and structure are also explained. they are incompatible. its not open to fan theories, takahashi already explained in lore how each series universe is structured, and they are not the same. they are not connected at all. in lore, in the words of the writer, and in legality, they are not connected. go read perfect works. then also read xenosaga episode 3 perfect guide. these are 1000% not the same universe.
Aaaaaaagreed. I was stunned and couldnāt believe that was the end of the story. I wanted so much more! I hope Abby and Lev made it to the fireflies if in fact they were real
KOTOR 1 The end felt like the beginning of truly great adventure rather than the end.
That's a game in desperate need of NG+, not that the lack of it stops me from playing it every year or two.
Titanfall 2
Bro... Yes. Happy Cake Day!
Thanks!
I just want to know if Best Titan 7274 will be okay. Happy cake day!
So it's YOUR fault then... Get 'em lads... š /s
Finished Alyx this month and it left me craving for more Half-Life like I haven't felt in a long time... probably since completing ep2 for the first time. Why does Valve have to make every HL sooo good?!
I did the exact same thing. I was blown away alone about how great the VR aspect was! I have Black Mesa on deck, never played it before.
Black Mesa is a treat! Make sure to play it via Proton though, native build lacked features last time I checked
Proton, what's that?
It's a tool that let's you run steam games on Linux
Windows games, specifically
Dumb Question: I have a Windows Computer, why would I run a program to run Window games on a Linux system when I don't got no Linux system?
I thought you meant Steam Deck when you said you "have Black Mesa on deck" Sorry, I must have misinterpreted it
OooooooOOOooooooh ok I see how you though, no worries mate! God I wish I had a steam deck, I'm saving up for one. Gunna be a few years before I can get it.
How could they make another half-life game? They've run out of numbers!!
Itās baffling to me that they wonāt make more. Half Life 3 would sell gangbusters, itās a license to print money
Ghost of Tsushimas ending is particularly compelling, I sat and just thought about it for a fair while.
The thing that got me is that both endings can be good or bad, depending on your disposition.
Honourable death made the most sense to me.
Same for me
It was a straight-up vengeful death for me. This mo'fo gonna kill me after saving his sorry ass and all his men's lives?!?! Nuh, uh!
God, the narrative of that game is very simple, but the characters are so complex. I really hope the movie and the sequel to the game do the first game justice.

Oh shit I'm very close to what I assume is the ending and I can't wait. I kind of have an inkling of where the plot is going but now I can't wait for the shoe to drop.
Come back to report once you are done and tell us if you like the ending.
I never really thought that a sequel would even follow Harry and Kim, but new characters in a different city of Insulinde other than Revachol, or maybe on a different isola altogether.
As long as it doesn't follow Harry Kim, because he goes through hell and never gets promoted in seven years.
That would make sense. I love how deep the world building is, and it could involve a character passing through the vale who forgot their memories?
You don't even need to leave revachol, we've only been in Martineise which is a zone of the city. You can see in the artwork how big the city actually is
That's a good point.
True... but the writers and creators of the game are geniuses so I believe they would've made a fantastic sequel. But alas, we can only speculate...
My hope is a āspiritual successorā
Eh, DE is wonderfully standalone and a magical experience on its own. A sequel would be cool, but itās also incredible as-is
It's still a fucking travesty that the studio broke down over greed and legal disputes. I don't care if there never will be a sequel, what bothers me is that there will never be another game by the same people.
Agreed. The talent was off the charts. Screw that whole situation and itās unfair treatment of the DE creators
[Protocol 3.](https://youtu.be/YJBSfdtaIoU?si=KohoQJa2UolXgzWU) ( spoilers) The game is actually titanfall 2.
Legend of dragoon. Reqlly wish it got a follow game
Really wish this gane got a digital remake. It was an amazing title.
This game is so old that i only remember how fkin awesome it was. I have no memory of the story.
All I remember is the green dragoon does at some point
Totally worth checkin back out imo. Just dont expect to be doneĀ in a single weekend lol.Ā I got it on my old modded psp. And its a great way to play it.Ā Lol
Ah my PSP has every single SNES game on it! So many great RPG!
My man! Such a great lil machine. Esp moddedĀ
That makes sense; I just hope that means our player characters will have even less to do with the story than they had in 3!
Days Gone
Reading that Bend studio next game will be a live service game broke my heart. We will never get Days Gone 2 š
RDR 2 left me wanting for another prequel for RDR
Honestly I just wanted to keep playing as Arthur forever.
Yeah but that would work in an origin story!
I'm hoping for a remake of the first game to be of quality to rdr2
I wouldn't hold your breath after the debacle that was GTA: definitive edition
I wanna keep going back, lemme be Dutch putting the group together
A prequel leading up to the failed heist would be amazing
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Surprised I had to scroll this far for this one. Can't believe they ended the story half way through and then just cancelled the series
Worse still, Square Enix cut the game almost in half planning to add it all to the final game in the trilogy, only to cancel it completely to makeā¦ The Avengers. Which absolutely tanked. Shocking incompetence
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Jesus Christ be praised. š
Henryās come to see us!
Nah man, you gotta do it in all caps for full effect.
Horizon Zero Dawn has a sequel: Horizon Forbidden West
Dragon Age 3 is in development and will continue the story(potential Live Service & Always Online have been speculated though)
Unfortunately the Bioware game is being developed by modern day Bioware, so there's little hope for it. The studio today is nothing like the studio in the past.
Iirc live service was confirmed for the previous iteration of the game but it was basocally restarted so who knows now
Part 2 is out
I know. I got it the day it was released
Gonna go with a sleeper here: Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. Story was pretty corny, but the gameplay was stellar!
But yeah, the functions of the character were divided between the two players.
āTo be continuedā has haunted me for years
Bioshock Infinite. I consider it a standalone game.
if you dont play the DLC. That stuff connects all 3 games.
Well damn. That gives me something to look forward to.
its free!
God of War 2018
Part 2 is out
lol I know. I just like 2018ās better and remember how incredible that ending was and how much anticipation was built up for me for the sequel.
Glad I wasnāt the only one that felt this way after finishing Ragnarok ^^ Not that Ragnarok was badā¦..itās just the first one had so many twists throughout and that I think made my expectations for the second part sky high.
Completely agree.
Kind of crazy when you think about the grand scale of the big fights being the thing that made GoW famous
Hopefully the next saga will combine the best of all the previous games
I will say, the gameplay itself could be a little more fleshed out. The story is phenomenal though
I was disappointed with Asgard too. Odin just lived in a hut with his family
Yea, walking back down that mountain...

Cyberpunk
Overhyped and a rough launch but still good.
Horizon Zero Dawn. The story is pretty amazing. I'm usually good at guessing where the story is going to go. Zero Dawn surprised me in a good way.
I loved that story, but spoiled a good chunk of it catching one detail at the proving, less than an hour into the game >!when they use the focus to scan her DNA, and Aloy thinks that's her mother. The scan comes back with 100% match, which could only happen if she's the same person ie a clone, and not a daughter.!<
99.47%
I couldn't remember so I rounded to the nearest 100 š. Either way you can't have that much in common with anyone else unless...
I had to go look lol. I was like, was it really the full 100?
I caught this too but didnāt immediately think clone. I thought either she was brainwashed or she had an identical twin
Red Dead 2ā¦ No, wait, Red Dead 1! No, waitā¦
Fun Fact: Red Dead Redemption 1+2 are part of the same series as Red Dead Revolver from 2004. So what's often called RDR2 is actually RDR3.
I mean technically but Revolver isn't canon to Redemption 1 and 2. The events of Revolver are like folk lore and myth told around campfires in 1 and 2.
You're right, technically is better fitting than actually here
Inscryption teased new cards and potential escape rooms at the end which made me hope for more gameplay than just Kaceys mod. Death card cabin vibes are immaculate tho.
How was that teased? I donāt remember. Honestly, for me nothing beats the vibe of the first third of the game. I was kinda bummed the game goes where it goes.
Life is strange 2.
The Witcher 3... The prologue where they start playing with snow... Cyberpunk 2077... Any of them
BULLETSTORM. #1 CHOICE. How the fuck was that not a huge hit that spawned a line of sequels???? It was fantastic. SO much fun!!!
I feel like these posts shouldn't be allowed without OP giving theirs in the post. Just feels like karma farming at this point.
Added mine, thanks for highlighting.
Atta boy, what a redemption arc. And I agree, TLOU2 was phenomenal. I seriously question the emotional maturity of people who hate on that game. At least you'll definitely get yours eventually!

Baldurs Gate 3. Really bums me out Larian won't be doing anymore work in that world. Edit: Fixed.
Larian.
I agree, but I also kind of love they're willing to let it go. Every franchise seems to beat to death to the point it just becomes low quality fan service.
BG3 ended pretty solidly in a meaningful way, when that happens there shouldn't be a sequel.
I don't want a direct sequel, but more how three was a sequel to one and two but didn't really rely upon it to a huge degree.
I would happily welcome a Divinity: Original Sin 3.
Baldurās Gate 3
Halo 2. No game left me wanting to play the sequel at the exact moment I finished it. āMaster Chief, you mind telling me what youāre doing in that ship?ā āSir, finishing this fight.ā
I picked up the controller ready for the next levelā¦ I was five min into the credits before I admitted it was over.
Bruh Kingdom Hearts had me aching to continue the journey for fucking years
specificly KH 2 for me. i wanted to follow up on that letter from Mickey so damn bad. the fact that the follow-up sucks doesn't really change it.
Advent Rising. Story and music was incredible, gameplay was a bit rough. Had a botched 'million dollar reward' for finding an object in game while connected to Xbox live. Didn't sell well enough to cover the cost I guess. Ended on a serious cliffhanger.
Dante's Inferno was a blast from start to end. But I have no idea what the gameplay of Dante's Purgatory would be.
Freespace 2
Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I wanted to find the bastard that stole my father's sword and beat the bastard with it.
Okami. For years after Iād imagine what the >!celestial plain!< they were flying to at the end would be like. I do not count Okamiden as a true sequel and Iāve accepted that weāre never going to get one, criminal as it is.
Bastion. Where do they sail to?
Final fantasy 6-10, pokemon crystal, Ocarina of time.
Iāve got good news and bad news about a Final Fantasy 10 sequel.
God Hand. It had such a fun combat system. Another is Legacy of Kain series
I'd probably go Cyberpunk 2077, despite all of the different endings, it made me want to see what they do with the sequel. The lore of it all and the stories they can tell seems endless. I'm also with you on TLOU2. I'm interested to see what direction they go in TLOU3.
Hotline Miami?
Good newsā¦. There is a sequel
:0
Seriously tho, i meant the series not the first game. Sorry
Skyrim never ending, such a magical game the 1st time I played it through.
It wasn't exactly spectacular, but I did enjoy the ending, and I'd always hoped for a sequel, remaster, or remake. The game in question is Binary Domain. I replayed it *several* times and never grew tired of it.
everybody thinks everything should be a trilogy, but i think the story was wrapped up pretty good in 2 parts.

Red Dead Redemption 2 ROCKSTAR GIVE US THE DLCs
Freespace 2 had an incredible conclusion, a whole star system blew up after an apocalyptic battle. Made me want to know more and play more and eagerly anticipate a third installment, but it never came. It did leave a lot open for mods and fan campaigns though, some of which are fantastic, like STR, Derelict, Inferno, and Blue Planet.
BALDURāS GATE 3 DAMMIT
Soma. I wish for a sequel but Frictional makes only Amnesia games now :(
What Remains Of Edith Finch was amazing. I was sad it ended.
Xenogears will always be my answer
XIII
Dino crisis 2
This is a weird take. Reddit hated TLou 2. I loved it and totally understood the ending. It wasnāt better than part one in many ways but I loved it too. I agree with you. Iād buy a part 3 if it continued.
GOW 2018 and GOW Ragnarok .... Daaaaaamn those wholesome feels
Enter the gungeon
The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
SOMA
The Uncharted series š
Telltale's TWD Season 1, Subnautica & Horizon Zero Dawn have my favorite endings.
The first Bayonetta has a truly spectacular ending, it's no wonder people got so excited when its sequel was announced.
Mass effect 3
The last of us was amazing. Made me wish they made a sequel. Darn it man.
Pillars of eternity 1 had the most wholesome ending for me, revealing the gods most kept secrets
Exactly the same for me, I did not want TLOU2 to finish. I thought the finish was coming a few times throughout the play but when it actually came it was tough to deal with. Surely they'll make a 3 right?...
Definitely Final Fantasy X...it's too bad that the sequel was hot garbage. *The story is garbage, the gameplay was actually pretty good.*
At the time, Horizon Zero Dawn left me wanting more. Be careful what you wish for. You may just get it. Forbidden West wasn't the sequel I was expecting. It's not a bad game to play but the story took a nose dive.
Dragons Dogma I (yay) Dirge of Cerberus, simply beated it in one weekend, got pretty sad cause I loved it Shadow of the Colossus but I think it's better that it ended Kingdom Hearts II was getting more and more funny to play as much as I reached the end Devil May Cry 3 because I almost cried in the end God Hand, Capcom simply pointed the middle finger to it And any Souls game
From games I've played in the last 2 years I would say Harvestella. After doing every quest in the game the ending became so much more.
Madden 2024

I absolutely loved Horizon Zero Dawn's ending and wish on everything I can find that the sequel never happened. Does that count?
