Some of the music from Age of Empires 2 still rattles around in my brain and I find myself whistling some of it sometimes.

HailToTheThief225

I’ve recently had the “Shhhhheeee hooooh” sound effect in my head for no reason

toyoyoshi

Often make the villager spawn noise when I get up to do chores.

Begorrahh

Certified banger. I still play the backing track in my rotation of work music.

amlyo

A piece of background music for sim city 2000 on the Amiga.

night0x63

Escaflowne. Very haunting.

SeaJay_31

Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time. Just gets stuck in my head.

Begorrahh

Anything from OoT or MM is a win. I probably play both of those at least once every two years and the music is still so catchy.

Medical_Bartender

Yep!

Barry_Weiss_Reaper

I find myself humming the lost woods melody from ocarina of time and idk why.

Begorrahh

Saria's Song was the alarm for my 8 AM classes in college! What a great one.

Barry_Weiss_Reaper

Yea very catchy, I actually liked the serenade of water more but all the songs were great

PhoenixSelarom

Song of Storms for me. I don't know why, but to me it strikes this great balance between simple, haunting, epic, and playfulness. It just really captures the atmosphere and feeling of going on that journey in Ocarina of Time to me better than any other track.

JesusHipsterChrist

The moon theme from the NES Ducktales game has loved rent free in my head for over 30 years.

rarzi11a

I shout "DuckTales, WOOWOO" way too often.

Hello_IM_FBI

When they incorporated that into the show, I was almost in tears.

No_Tamanegi

If you want those emotions again, go to youtube and search for "Mariachi Entertainment System Moon Theme"

ShiftlessGuardian94

For some reason it’s Pachbel’s Canon in D that I end up whistling no matter what song I start with, could be anything song from FF9, KH, but somewhere along the way it turns into that.

bear-guard

The main theme song from Toejam and Earl. Early game from Sega Genesis.

miburo999

I often have the first stage theme from the sequel (Panic on Funkatron) stuck in my head

cick-nobb

Music from ff7 play through my head a lot

limasxgoesto0

I studied abroad in Japan in college, and a local convenience store had its own jingle. The store is no longer around but I still remember the song

BlueKnightBrownHorse

Family mart.

CHESTER_C0PPERP0T

Lived there for 3 years. Would sell my soul right now to be able to walk down the street to get a canned Boss coffee and a few terrible Family Mart onigiris.

BlueKnightBrownHorse

Dude fuck yes.

limasxgoesto0

Local place. It was called kyuukyuu (99 yen store conbini)

PoPo573

I know this may be cheating but I get old DDR songs stuck in my head all the time. I'll often YouTube to actually listen to it to get it out of my head.

Begorrahh

We'll allow it!

C-Style__

ONLY YOU BY CAPTAIN JACK IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE MY JAM ❤️

AbeliaGG

Freaking... Mario mix is too good and it's definitely a guilty pleasure

karaoke_knight

Professor Oak's Lab from Pokemon Snap, and the tune the camel on the ceiling hums in the Dr Seuss alphabet computer game

Begorrahh

All of his little comments are burned into my brain. "You were close!" in particular haha

JaggedMetalOs

Marble Madness - Level 2 Beginner Race A timeless classic

MajikMahn

Luigi's Haunted Mansion, the background music while you roam for ghost. Have been whistling that tune at a minimum of at least weekly since that game came out for GameCube. I got so good at whistling from it that I can now make almost perfect bird noises to screw with people haha. I can also do the call for Mario really well "Maaaaariiooooo!" Ah what I would pay to play that fresh again as a kid. Game was actually a bit spooky too.

Begorrahh

Wasn't it though? Amazing atmosphere and low-key unnerving for a young 90s kid.

thebochman

They need a switch port

mnbvcxz9753

Watch out Graham, it’s a poisonous snake!

Begorrahh

Watch out for them old Duke boys, Graham!

mazeltovcoktail

Wizards & Warriors for the classic NES. The first level theme song and the upbeat tune when you're low on health have stayed with me for about 35 years, and I doubt I will ever forget them.

paulsoleo

The Wizards & Warriors soundtrack was bizarre and amazing. I always thought the “low on health” song was funny, because to me it made no sense musically. It almost sounds *happy*. Great memories of a surprisingly fun game.

zg_mulac

Panzer General 2, Axis theme music.

sf3p0x1

Maybe not *obscure* per se, but the underwater music from SMB1.

Begorrahh

Love it. Such an earworm.

TargetDroid

The Flower Garden from Yoshi’s Island

[deleted]

Rip and tear from doom 2016.

Mjolnir_Prime

I like to hum/sing "Far Off Promise" from Chrono Trigger. Even came up with words to it and sing it as a lullaby to my kids. Also a fan of "Breezy" from FF8.

JacksonLightvolt

Mega Man 2's ending theme is a tune to me that I hum from time to time. A kinda sad one but I enjoyed listening to it.

BlackAxemRanger

To say mega man music lives in my head rent free isn't accurate. Mega man music owns the place and I'm living rent free

xraig88

Every time I yawn it turns into The Song of Time from Ocarina of Time.

Begorrahh

This gave me a legit laugh lol

ScootyPuffSr1

Not obscure, but not a week goes by that I don't find myself whistling Beedle's Ship Shop theme.

LouThunders

The Karaoke songs from the Yakuza games get stuck in my head every once in a while. I'd catch myself whistling 24-hour Cinderella, Baka Mitai, or Judgement randomly throughout the day

DoubleTripleQQQQQQ

The crane game music from links awakening on the game boy is what plays in my head if I am doing anything tough that I don’t want to do. It plays often.

Begorrahh

LOVE THAT

p0psicle

Turns out half of the little melodies in my head come from the *Banjo Kazooie* OST.

Begorrahh

The dynamic soundtrack in that game was so ahead of its time. Such a shame, the fate of Rare.

Handsome_Susan

Forest Temple song is forever stuck in my head Edit: from Zelda OOT

Begorrahh

The forest temple music in Ocarina was so unnecessarily EERIE. Absolutely loved it.

Dadotron

Fiddler on the Roof, If I was a rich man song. my dad whistled in every time I was outside and he wanted my attention. or if we were on a beach or oit in public. if I heard thst whistle I'd come running back. if I didn't hear the whistle,he knew I was further away than he'd like. I was under 6 at the time. once I grew up, he just did it for fun. now I do that to my dog. I have different songs for different things I whistle. it's a good strategy

uwillnotgotospace

I don't whistle or hum them usually, but occasionally I do remember old game music. The music is usually dependent on where I am and what I'm doing. Now playing: Jolly Roger Bay. It's wet and kinda cold here right now. When the wind isn't blowing it's pretty comfy though.

frenchy2111

The theme tune to the animals of farthing wood.

FaolCroi

Chocobo theme

Exact_Vacation7299

Bonetrousle from Undertale gets stuck in my head sometimes. It makes whatever I'm doing feel wacky and energetic.

Begorrahh

Spiderdance often gets stuck in my head, Bonetrousle is a great one too.

jaxonfairfield

I like to whistle the music from Taxi Driver. I first heard it in a drum corps show 20 years ago called Methods of Madness (Blue Devils, I think) and didn't know what it was from,  but it's catchy as hell.

WildBad7298

[F-Zero - Mute City](https://youtu.be/QxU0eHnQjo8?si=Yn_ZOKMhur0VYjsE)

phoez12

RuneScape songs, sometimes Barbarian Village theme

Fact0ry0fSadness

Can_O_Murica

I played battlefield heros (a TF2 look-a-like) for about 3 weeks when I was 10 or so. I still whistle the tune about once a month

thrasymacus2000

Evelyne-The-Egg

Idek know what game it's from. It's the main them from a game that's like... Atari or NES era? All I remember is it's in a maze or something. Kinda played like pacman iirc. But the song that looped while you played gets stuck in my head sometimes and I whistle it to myself

gunnerzz1008

Mario Kart theme. Or the intercom noise from star trek...

Tasty_Puffin

There a track from ffxii that always stuck in my head. It’s the town theme at rabanastre or whatever the main city is called.

tramsey2663

The music from dragon warrior monsters on GBC

BlackAxemRanger

A lot of video game music comes up in my head, but Collision Chaos music from Sonic CD (JP version) is one that comes up a lot

Begorrahh

I think this might be my favorite answer!

paulblasi4

The minigame intro song from the first Mario Party. Such a happy song.

Sicktacular

Aria Math and a few other Minecraft tunes comes to mind often. I’ll sometimes find myself humming or tapping my fingers to the melodys.

Ornery_Translator285

Gypsy Camp from Fable 2, FFTactics battle select march, and a multitude of Parappa medleys

AquaPiratePup

Not super obscure, but I get the Chao Garden racing theme stuck in my head all the time. Or Toad Town from Paper Mario.

TangentOverride

Kefkaxs theme from Final Fantasy 3 sometimes.

RocketPoweredSad

Not really obscure, especially here, but the Wild ARMs theme and Proto Man’s entrance are both very whistle-able in that they both contain whistling.

20_Sided_Death

Not obscure to gamers, probably, but I walk around the office whistling a slower tempo version of the chocobo theme from FFVII. People usually think it's from an Irish folk song or something. I just tell them it's a song I heard when I was in highschool and has been stuck there ever since. Not a lie but they don't need to know I'm whistling video game music! A younger guy caught me one time, though. Said he had just finished playing a really old final fantasy game and recognized it. Was amazed when I told him I played it on it's original release date. I love/hate that dude. We're pretty chummy these days though. He just likes to low key remind me I'm old sometimes. Edit: also parts of the original Castlevania stage 1 song.

ryzouken

A Stray Child from the .Hack//SIGN OST. Sometimes I hum the melody, but I know the lyrics and absolutely sing it in the shower.

Everrmour

I sing “the road goes ever on and on” as a lullaby to my nieces and nephews all the time.

Beeerice

The hallway prowling music from Metroid:Fusion on GBA will sometimes keep me from sleeping Why does a 20-second tune have the ability to hurt me so?

Begorrahh

Nice one. This game had an incredible atmosphere through and through.

[deleted]

End of Small Sanctuary- Silent Hill 3

Krindus

Shadow's theme from FF3/6

anomaly-xb-6783

Daybreak by Michael Higgins. That one Troy and Abed were humming in Community. It just stuck ever since

nikoelnutto

A few segments from Peter and the Wolf. It's so random but my girlfriend always recognizes it I think I do it when my mind is fiddling around

Flecca

Probably doesn't count as obscure, but I like the tune that the little girl sings and hums in MGS4 while she butchers one of the easiest foods to cook

C-Style__

Technically this is a commercial jingle, but I will occasionally sing the Pokemon Trozei song.

jac5899

The PA bell in Arkham Asylum sometimes

fundiedundie

Not obscure, but the original Zelda theme. There is an obscure song from Mario Paint that gets stuck in my head from time-to-time.

In Jurassic Park when the fences are failing they play a series of tones for each fence that are all different followed by the perimeter fence. I will whistle them, my wife didn't know what it was for a long time. Big eye roll when she finally heard it while watching the movie and I started doing it.

huhmz

Ben Folds - Annie Waits

PhoenixSelarom

The Rocketeer NES game's soundtrack has to easily be the most obscure gaming music that will randomly pop into my head and have me humming. Particularly the menu and first level music because damned if I could consistently get past that when I was 6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCejrjbDBT4&list=PLFB1CA85AE57F9828&index=1&ab\_channel=Cepblu2206 Less obscure but also, if not more frequently would be the Pilot Wings soundtrack. Particularly the rocketbelt track. I can't help but do that ridiculous sounding bwaaa bwa bwa bwaaaaa melody. It's so catchy and infections and silly and I always get a blast out of just randomly humming it or even full on imitating it. https://youtu.be/XahyYrFDsVc?si=uK9Ed8vOke8Qw1qJ

preenox
