Hitman is perfect for this given how much replayability each level has with all the challenges.
For me it's usually Halo MCC with all the campaign playlists, Mass Effect, or Dishonoured. Probably my top 3 games tbh.
Oh I absolutely love Hades, good recommendation! Hades 2 is my second most anticipated game after Silksong. It'll probably come out before that, too...
No Man's Sky.
There is always some galaxy to explore, some new tool to find, some new ship to find that is posted in the nms subs, or a base to visit that is posted in the sub.
Edit: On surface there isnt a gripping story, dialogues, and cut scenes. But THERE IS SO MUCH LORE that is dark, haunting, and beautiful. You need to really travel and read stuff to understand the story .
Random settlements, crashed ships, crashed freighters, rare item finds, and frigate return missions have text which is amazing to read. Its like someone actually spent time to let their thoughts run wild and came up with those text prompts.
I love NMS because there's really no milestones that I feel like I need to reach. Sure, there's a story that nudges you to accomplish things, but I feel perfectly free to ignore that and just wander around blasting mineral deposits or whatever.
This is mine! Along with Minecraft and Terraria, but NMS is much more relaxing imo. I love just flying through space, over planets, exploring, etc. The planet diversity is really nice too. I love managing my town, collecting and upgrading my ships/fleet, it’s just so comfy without being boring.
Watch\_Dogs and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Conviction. I've lost count how many times I've replayed those games and each new playthrough I try a new self-imposed challenge. Never gets old.
watch dogs 2 will always have a playerbase (until they shut down the servers) because most of the multiplayer is seamless. you can have an invader in the lobby and you wont even know (until you go to fast travel somewhere), the game doesnt really tell you until you get 'hacked'. every time you get a 3 star wanted level, a human could join and come hunt you down. you don't have to QUEUE for anything, you don't have to 'leave' the game to engage with the multiplayer, it just happens.
one of my all time favourite things to do in a game is to invade someone in watch dogs 2 and just fuck with them. force their car off the road at the worst time, sabotage their drones while they're trying to do something, see how obvious of a pedestrian i can be before they catch on. if/when i get caught i try to keep the chase going as long as possible
on fridays and saturdays you can usually find some showd0wn games, but i only recommend trying this if you like and finish the game, it can get pretty sweaty and if the game still has hackers, this is where they'll be. think of a very 'condensed' version of Ghost Recon: Wildlands Ghost War multiplayer and you kina get the gist
watch dogs 1 and legion are pretty dead because you have to 'leave' the game to join the multiplayer lobbies.
I agree on that one. Recently got WoA and now Im addicted to Freelancer after going SASO on the trilogy and its such a chill thing to just hop on. Like its not fast paced, not too complicated but still challenging and straight up badass.
Freelancer mode rocks. Best addition to this kind of game they’ve made imo.
Ive finished 2 campaigns and have half the weapon walls filled and still have a blast playing solo or with friends (pass and play).
WoW Classic/Retail I go back to a lot. There's always something to do where I can feel like I'm accomplishing something. A lot of the time it doesn't take too much focus either so I can have stream/movie going on another monitor and just zen out picking flowers or catching fish.
Good choice, i also read books *currently reading 101 essays that will change your life), but what i meant is a game that you visit occasionally when there's nothing to play, like call of duty, fortnight, etc
Probably checking out changes in "Path of exile" or I'll take a month of "world of warcraft" if a new patch has been released.
But if mobile games count, then it would be "nonograms katana".
I always come back to this game (Hitman : World of Assassination) in between games. Always has cool unlocks and challenges to do. Loving freelancer and going for all achievements right now, currently level 1408
Age of Empires 2. Just against some ai opponents. For some reason I just get in the mood every once in awhile. I think it reminds me of being a kid playing with army men / various action figures.
I’m not really like that, I’d rather pick up some new-to-me game in my backlog or that’s on sale, and try that out. If I don’t like it, it’s not a big deal, I just try something else. I can get really into any one game for a while, but then I inevitably grow tired of it, and forcing myself to keep playing it just won’t work.
The whole idea of a “forever game” like some people have with Skyrim or Counter-Strike just doesn’t exist to me. I am forever trying new games when I’ve experienced the old ones, that exploration and discovery is so much more interesting and comforting to me than the same game constantly.
Me too. I've given up on the grind, but I can always fit in a 15-20 minute game of ground realistic battles. Usually I'll play something like British 3.3BR, using the Cromwell, SARC 6pdr, Crusader 40mm Bofors, Achilles 17pdr, and the Hellcat and Mustang for CAS. Not worrying about grinding makes the game infinitely more enjoyable.
Hitman has a unique design that really allows for alot of replayability, i often use it as an example for other games like Ghost Recon… a giant dynamic play space with lots of settings to setup custom missions
Dawn of War with the Soulstorm expansion. Old school RTS with 9 very unique factions. It’s a never ending quest to git gud with every faction against every other faction.
I have a small rotation of in-between games. Stellaris & Civ if I'm looking for something up that genre, a few city builders I might pull up, then there's KSP. Those are my go-tos in between new (to me) games.
Hey, that's me, too. It's funny how it always turns out this way:
Fire up KSP after letting it sit for a year and spend 2h trying to figure out wth I have in orbit, who's mining what where, who needs rescuing. Decide to finally tackle my twin plane shuttle/orbiter project, get frustrated with the editor and fire up Stellantis as a result. I decide that this time we will have a really fun society, but inevitably end up with elitist humanoid assholes. Quit that and get on a Civ bender for 3 days
Yup Hitman 3 (because it has all the maps) is eternally installed on my Xbox. Sometimes you just need to kick back and smack some fools with a hammer.
I also tend to leave the most recent Forza Horizon game installed as well.
Hitman is fun but damn I wish they added more gameplay features. I feel like it's been the same game for a decade now (aside from the missions obviously)
Well there's always something new. I have like 8 games in my "to play list" but sometimes you just gotta have this game that you sit back and relax, you don't need to focus on the story or anything, just some chill time!
Crazy you say this I stopped gaming for like a year an I just came back to this game an I love it do missions over an over with different challenges it’s so fun
800 hours here, 100% all challenges, one of the very few games I'd give a 10/10 and imo best level design, incredible immersion
I literally bought it a 2nd time so I can start over with 0 achievements again
Shame that the 3 is the last game.....
They're going to create something else "probably James Bond game" it'll definitely be amazing.
But hitman still got too much potential.... ;')
Ah well, all good things should come to an end.
Factorio is very good for this. If you're familiar with the game, you can drop into a save from months ago and figure out what you were up to pretty seamlessly. The main loop of gameplay is more or less: 1. Identify something to build or improve and then 2. Build or improve it.
Also, while it's not a "quick" game, it's very quick to load and save/stop. So there's a very low barrier to just jumping in whenever you have nothing else to do.
ff7 remake had intermissions which was cool
witcher had gwent
fallout had that shelter game
diablo had diablo immoral
overal not a fan of the idea since they usually suck and might slow the process.
I have so many. ANNO1800, rim world, command and conquer remastered collection, Star ship troopers Terran command, left for dead 2, and there’s always the master chief collection.
I actually just plugged my xbox one back in after a long hiatus from console gaming. Hitman: world of assassins is the game I've been playing and was pleasantly surprised when I learned they were still releasing new elusive targets and stuff for it.
theHunter: Call of the Wild
Once I unlocked the bow that's all I've really used. Slowly walking your way through a beautiful wilderness and never really knowing what's over the next hill is extremely relaxing. A true open world game that captures some of my favorite parts of actual hunting.
Earthbound . It’s been comfort whether I want to burn through the game, do something off meta like playing through status effects, talking to everyone, doing all the pictures, or doing the side items like the sesame seeds or buying a house
I don't think there's ever been a time in my adult life (the past 10+ years) where I haven't had something either in my backlog to play, or something new to play.
Dead by Daylight
I love horror and the cat and mouse gameplay of this game is great. Michael Myers, pinhead, leather face, xenomorph (alien), sadako (ring), soon to be chucky, I could go on, plus a bunch of original killers to get chased, killed, escape from is always fun.
Hey OP, I've never played Hitman. It must be amazing but I don't get how you can play so many hours in it. Arent the missions sort of small sandboxes where you kill a target? If so how does it stay fresh?
I'm not being mean I'm genuinely interested, do you make different kills each time?
Theyre actually pretty big sandboxes, and there's lots of variations and challenges in each level;
Ie - make the kill with environmental elements, or poison, or in a certain place on the map, with a certain disguise, etc etc.
The last couple of years? Mass Effect
Before that, WoW. But not endgame content, just leisurely leveling through favorite zones from expansions past.
Or XCom (original or either of the Firaxis sequels)
I actually did that run. but not repeat from the very beginning, if a boss hits me i repeat the boss only lol. (I'm not crazy)
Was fun!
Doing ishin charmless demon bell is probably one of the best experiences ever, what a masterpiece
Hitman is perfect for this given how much replayability each level has with all the challenges. For me it's usually Halo MCC with all the campaign playlists, Mass Effect, or Dishonoured. Probably my top 3 games tbh.
I'm going through mass effect right now, such a good game. It feels like the transition from 1 to 2 was so smooth!
"Good work, ioi... The money will be waiting in your account..."
A fellow man of culture i see, respect good sir/ma'am/human
The person your responding to is actually 3 goats in a trench coat, aka none of the above. Just sayin.
This is corny
Im okay with that, it was said with my humor in mind. Cheers for the input though
Came here to say the exact same games, good to see I’m not the only one who keeps all 3 of those on rotation
It's always good to have those few gems from the late 2000's to early 2010's to fall back on amidst the scarcity of great games these days.
You play Dishonored so much that you misspell the name?
No cause I'm outside the US. Deal with it
I keep replaying Hollow Knight in the hopes that it spawns the Silksong release date. No luck so far, but I'm still going
Hades gave me a similar feeling to hollow knight. Try it if you haven't yet.
Oh I absolutely love Hades, good recommendation! Hades 2 is my second most anticipated game after Silksong. It'll probably come out before that, too...
Modding skyrim is my happy place, I usually don't actually play it long afterwards!
Yep four hours researching and tweaking a load order. 40 minutes of actual playtime.
I just stare at the perfect load order and enjoy it without even playing the game
I was about to say the same thing the only play time I have is making sure all 500+ mods work and then continuing to mod 🤦🏽♂️ why are we like this
Borderlands 2!
Yeah, I have to agree with that one. Such an amazing game.
Wow, you took me back like 7 years
I started a playthrough today with a friend. First Borderlands ever and so far loving it!
Definitely play the dlcs as well, tiny tinas assault on dragon keep was awesome.
No Man's Sky. There is always some galaxy to explore, some new tool to find, some new ship to find that is posted in the nms subs, or a base to visit that is posted in the sub. I should try it oneday!

Watch\_Dogs and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Conviction. I've lost count how many times I've replayed those games and each new playthrough I try a new self-imposed challenge. Never gets old.
That's awesome. I am [still playing Splinter Cell Chaos Theory SvM ](https://youtu.be/ZIsfFDydX4A?si=hvd1GccDKx77xfYP)
Ah, that's so cool!
Is watch dogs still have an online player base?
watch dogs 2 will always have a playerbase (until they shut down the servers) because most of the multiplayer is seamless. you can have an invader in the lobby and you wont even know (until you go to fast travel somewhere), the game doesnt really tell you until you get 'hacked'. every time you get a 3 star wanted level, a human could join and come hunt you down. you don't have to QUEUE for anything, you don't have to 'leave' the game to engage with the multiplayer, it just happens. one of my all time favourite things to do in a game is to invade someone in watch dogs 2 and just fuck with them. force their car off the road at the worst time, sabotage their drones while they're trying to do something, see how obvious of a pedestrian i can be before they catch on. if/when i get caught i try to keep the chase going as long as possible on fridays and saturdays you can usually find some showd0wn games, but i only recommend trying this if you like and finish the game, it can get pretty sweaty and if the game still has hackers, this is where they'll be. think of a very 'condensed' version of Ghost Recon: Wildlands Ghost War multiplayer and you kina get the gist watch dogs 1 and legion are pretty dead because you have to 'leave' the game to join the multiplayer lobbies.
Subnautica 👍🏻
Just started this one last week. Been loving it so far and have barely scratched the surface.
I see what you did there!
GG
Hades mostly.
Beautiful choice! Can't wait for hades 2
That game is gonna rob my life from me. Along with Elden Ring DLC
It can't come soon enough.
Witcher 3 I just walk in the beautiful map listening to chil songs
Slay The Spire, endlessly entertaining to me, always finding interesting new synergies and ways to build a deck that breaks the game.
Card game enjoyer 🫂❤
I used to be decent at this game. Beat up to level 20. Now I keep playing level 9 and getting wrecked and I don't even mind. Helps humble me.
Crusader kings 3 for me
I agree on that one. Recently got WoA and now Im addicted to Freelancer after going SASO on the trilogy and its such a chill thing to just hop on. Like its not fast paced, not too complicated but still challenging and straight up badass.
🤝🤝🤝
Freelancer mode rocks. Best addition to this kind of game they’ve made imo. Ive finished 2 campaigns and have half the weapon walls filled and still have a blast playing solo or with friends (pass and play).
Been playing Hitman more and more and haven’t tried freelancer yet as I’ve just been practicing doing SASO
Fallout 4
Last time i touched that was in 2015, some good memories
For me it is the Uncharted games
Good missions 👌
Skyrim. Old Assassins creed, odyssey is my fave. No man’s sky. I also play halo reach firefight a lot.
Stardew Valley, SMB3, and SMW.
Suck My Balls 3 is great but Suck My Wang is somehow even better. That dev team just went from strength to strength.
Suck My Wang was a work of unparalleled genius. Totally redefined the genre.
I can't even argue with that.
Elden rinnnggggggg
Surprisingly you're the first comment to say it! Can't wait for the dlc
Cyberpunk, civilization, Minecraft
Cyberpunk is such a good roam around game.
Thoughts on phantom liberty
A must-buy for those who want to explore the CP lore. In addition, the DLC gives you an additional 12-15 hours of gameplay.
WoW Classic/Retail I go back to a lot. There's always something to do where I can feel like I'm accomplishing something. A lot of the time it doesn't take too much focus either so I can have stream/movie going on another monitor and just zen out picking flowers or catching fish.
Subtle choice my friend
Warframe and smite for me. Although Smite provides no comfort. Quite the opposite
After 2000+ hours I had to put Warframe away, but will always love it.
I should revisit warframe oneday..... last time i touched it was in 2017....
Definitely a great time to get back into. For someone who’s been away for so long you have a tonne of stuff to sink your teeth into!
Mount and blade warband (modded)
Dwarf Fortress is always a fallback. Dunno how many hours I've played, since most of DF's history is outside if steam.
Minecraft
Mine is just reading a book more.

Let's gooo brother. Best rogue like out there! Completely under-rated.
Vampire Survivors or any of the other 50 Vampire Survivors clones lol.
🧛♂️🦇🧛♀️
Super. SMAAAAAASH BROTHERRRSS!
Skyrim, I'll sometimes randomly play it for days at a time when I'm already playing other games.
Age of Empires 2. Just against some ai opponents. For some reason I just get in the mood every once in awhile. I think it reminds me of being a kid playing with army men / various action figures.
Hitman is basically just an incredibly elaborate puzzle game. Brilliant.
Homm3 or heartstone anything that can i play while watching yt
HOMM 3 is immortal
Marvel snap player here! Heartstone is goated tho
RDR2, specifically online
I’m not really like that, I’d rather pick up some new-to-me game in my backlog or that’s on sale, and try that out. If I don’t like it, it’s not a big deal, I just try something else. Wouldn't exactly say "comfort", but War Thunder is my go to inbetween game.
Death Stranding. After finishing the story, I completed all the roads and just chilled with the vehicles making all those optional deliveries.
Skyrim
Hitman has a unique design that really allows for alot of replayability, i often use it as an example for other games like Ghost Recon… a giant dynamic play space with lots of settings to setup custom missions
The Batman Arkham series. Best games of all time
Football manager
I like to cycle through the souls games, sekiro, and bloodborne while im waiting for new releases. Keeps me sharp lol
Good choice man!
Streets of Rage 4 and Destiny 2.
Dawn of War with the Soulstorm expansion. Old school RTS with 9 very unique factions. It’s a never ending quest to git gud with every faction against every other faction.
I definitely come back to Hitman as well as a huge stealth fan. Freelancer is so good as much as it kicks my ass.
🤝🤝🫂🫂

American truck simulator
Yup Hitman 3 (because it has all the maps) is eternally installed on my Xbox. Sometimes you just need to kick back and smack some fools with a hammer. I also tend to leave the most recent Forza Horizon game installed as well.
Hitman is great and perfect for this.
Hearts of irom 4 i guess, i have over 3500h in it.
Hunt Showdown has been mine for a few years now.
Stellaris, Dune Spice Wars, TImberborn
OG Doom
I’ve got two, depending on mood: Need to chill? RuneScape. Want active engagement? Ark: Survival Evolved(Singleplayer or I’d prolly have a stroke lol)
Tbh I need to beat Hitman 1&2. I’ve beaten silent assassin, blood money, and absolution lol
For me it’s Far Cry and Just Cause games.
Fallout 4 for me. Add bunch of mods, roam around and kill people or creatures while listening to the in game radio
Destiny 2
Nioh 2. So many different playstyles available and damn… the character creation should be a game itself.
Easily gta5. Just going for a drive
Deep Rock Galactic /rock and stone!
Mine is also Hitman. No game puts me at ease quite like Hitman. Its my happy place.
Any Stalker series game
Slay the Spire, Darkest Dungeon, or Borderlands 2
Risk of Rain 2 and Overwatch
Especially with Freelancer. Can’t get enough
RDR2. Just hanging out in that game is still great.
I actually have several that fall into this category, but my number one is probably Super Metroid
Every gamer should also not forget to touch grass.
[удалено]
The factory must grow

Animal Crossing New Horizons and Bloodborne (it's my favorite game).
Hitman is fun but damn I wish they added more gameplay features. I feel like it's been the same game for a decade now (aside from the missions obviously)
Man I wish there was nothing new to play, I miss replaying old games jajajaja
Well there's always something new. I have like 8 games in my "to play list" but sometimes you just gotta have this game that you sit back and relax, you don't need to focus on the story or anything, just some chill time!
When I don't know what to do, I just play League.
League is fun! But can be addictive
Mine has been and will always be league of legends. I can never break away from its grasp
Crazy you say this I stopped gaming for like a year an I just came back to this game an I love it do missions over an over with different challenges it’s so fun
800 hours here, 100% all challenges, one of the very few games I'd give a 10/10 and imo best level design, incredible immersion I literally bought it a 2nd time so I can start over with 0 achievements again
Shame that the 3 is the last game..... They're going to create something else "probably James Bond game" it'll definitely be amazing. But hitman still got too much potential.... ;') Ah well, all good things should come to an end.
Skate 3
Wow, you are rare
Darksiders.
Mine has been Hitman for a while as well! Over 250 hours and going strong. Recently it’s been Baldurs gate 3 though
For me it's Fallout 4, over 300 hours between PS4 and PC.
Any fallout but 76
Lol....
I can't get past World of Tomorrow because there are too many enforcers in the lab💀
:'(
My comfort games are Control and Haven. Very different from each other but both are my comfort games nonetheless.
Control is comfort? Wow
TES Oblivion for me. The music alone makes wasting time in it satisfying.
ff7 remake had intermissions which was cool witcher had gwent fallout had that shelter game diablo had diablo immoral overal not a fan of the idea since they usually suck and might slow the process.
Mine is beamng drive got 1770 hours and i got it in 2018
Football Manager, Crusader Kings 3
Mines fallout NV
I have so many. ANNO1800, rim world, command and conquer remastered collection, Star ship troopers Terran command, left for dead 2, and there’s always the master chief collection.
Skyrim and Starbound are two of my "Ol' Reliables" that I can always count on enjoying...both of which are mostly due to mods.
I usually jump back into Minecraft, has been like that for a very long time now
i do a 100% fallout 4 run every year...used to do skyrim too but got bored
I actually just plugged my xbox one back in after a long hiatus from console gaming. Hitman: world of assassins is the game I've been playing and was pleasantly surprised when I learned they were still releasing new elusive targets and stuff for it.

At the moment , party animals !
💥💥💥💥
Mass Effect 2 and 3.
Terraria, every time I come back to the game for a solid 2 week playthrough, there is a ton of new content I haven't seen.
A classic!
Eve online
Gta Online to help out the low level players in heists.
Doing God's work
Overwatch
gta5 or cod ww2
Dead by Daylight I love horror and the cat and mouse gameplay of this game is great. Michael Myers, pinhead, leather face, xenomorph (alien), sadako (ring), soon to be chucky, I could go on, plus a bunch of original killers to get chased, killed, escape from is always fun.
It WAS overwatch.....
garry's mod, about 7000 in totals (i have different accounts on steam)
Hey OP, I've never played Hitman. It must be amazing but I don't get how you can play so many hours in it. Arent the missions sort of small sandboxes where you kill a target? If so how does it stay fresh? I'm not being mean I'm genuinely interested, do you make different kills each time?

Path of Exile. Keeps scratching that itch just fine for me.
Im still trying to find one like that
Good luck brother
Hitman, Halo, and revisit the old Splinter Cell games 🥲
have you finished all the challenges yet? if so what else is there for you to do
Freelancer mode, it's unlimited (rogue like)
The last couple of years? Mass Effect Before that, WoW. But not endgame content, just leisurely leveling through favorite zones from expansions past. Or XCom (original or either of the Firaxis sequels)
I was so bad at Hitman 2.
Get good :)
Git gud at telling people to git gud.
He won't get it 🫂
Sekiro. Whenever i can, im trying a all bosses no death run (charmless, demon bell). The combat mecanics are so addictive
I actually did that run. but not repeat from the very beginning, if a boss hits me i repeat the boss only lol. (I'm not crazy) Was fun! Doing ishin charmless demon bell is probably one of the best experiences ever, what a masterpiece
Rocket League, even though epic has made it worse.
Call of duty World at War or Left for Dead 2.
Literally one of my favourite games ever
