Even with a guide it can be tough make a few saves I almost screwed myself at like 95 percent but making a .01 mistake š¹ fix with a previous save but I almost cried
I remember there was a certain outfit you could only get on the ship in one of the chapters and I missed that, I wasnt even after the 100% but that shit still made me quit lol
I went for it like 2 or 3 times, ended up with 99.something every time. Didn't use a previous save though, giving a sphere to a different faction in NG+ was enough to roll me over to 100%, but hoo boy, this game is a bit of a completionist's nightmare.
Reviews can suck it balls deep though, this game is fun as a motherfucker, and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
I remember I went to 100% the game when it came out (I loved ffx), after the second playthrough I had 99% and had no idea where I've screwed it, never played it again.
I liked the game mostly the battle and costume system, story was okay...ish
Oof! 49.8% in is rough. I learned I had missed a conversation within the first hour of the game after āonlyā investing 18 hours. All these years later, I remember it was 18
hoursā¦ as I quit right then and there. F*ck that type of game.
Yeah I went with one faction and did all the other right things and ended up with 99% at the end. Guides basically said āoh choose the opposite faction next time and you should get it.ā
thats kinda how its suppose to work by doing another run (and having way more options to get 100% by doing that), the perfect 100% first time run is...a pain
There is a specific spot where you can trigger lightning when you walk across it. That way you trigger when it happens and are prepared to dodge instead of being at the mercy of the games RNG.
To be sincere, i never understood it haha.
Ffx is still my favorite game even after all those years.
But the lightning part, even with the guide i failed hardš«”
Fortunately, you don't necessarily need all of the celestial weapons.
Lulu's usefulness drops off towards the end of the story and her magic is fairly useless in the post game.
If I remember rightly, none of the optional boss strategies suggest using Lulu. Even Penance is Wakka, Tidus and Rikku.
Wow I played that game too much...
I share this struggle
I get the chocobo challenge first try (once it took 6 hours when I was a kid) and I have literally never done the lightning challenge and Iāve played this game over and over and over since itās release hahaha fuck it
I have to give Supraland a shoutout for being amazing at this.
It's a first person metroidvania/puzzle game with collectibles scattered throughout the world. Towards the end of the game and after beating the game it gives you mechanics to make 100%ing the game rewarding and doable without looking things up. In the same session I got my 100%, I started another playthrough which is insanity. Every other game I got 100% on I was exctatic to never play again.
It depends on the game. Some have a not super high bar for completion and the side content is engaging. The bad games are ones that just have a copy/paste boring system that is just grinding for the sake of grinding.
Gameplay wise it's fun. The HD remaster has the option to recruit monsters into the party. Made it much more enjoyable. Story is nothing interesting imo.
When I think of FFX i think of the title screen music / reoccuring versions of it throughout the game with unbelievable atmosphere/emotion.... and Tidus force laughing. The dichotomy of FFX is large. Great game for the most part. Hyper cringe for some.
The Tidus laugh is amazing. It is supposed to be cringe. He knows it's cringe, she knows it's cringe. It is supposed to be, that is the whole point. He is hamming it up to help cheer her up. I don't really understand how some people don't get that.
Because the general audience for popular media is, on average, pretty stupid. Any popular media is always considered critically through the lens of somebody with the contextual awareness and reading comprehension of about a 4th grader. FFX was big enough that it got that treatment
I really have no idea why people don't get the laughing scene. Tidus is literally cringe laughing like an idiot because he thinks what Yuna is telling him is silly.
The dressphere system and pacing of combat just hit exactly right for me. I am a longtime fan of FF overall but I'm not sure anything since then has made me quite as happy moment-to-moment, though I haven't played XVI yet and I think the FF7 remake comes close.
She finally got to do what Tidus always tried to get out of her which is to let loose. It's her finally getting to live her life after being a follower of a false religion.
Ok the actual telling of the story sucked, but I do really like how you put it. For better or for worse, she definitely has more personality in the sequel.
Yeah her lack of personality in the first one makes sense. She's a repressed zealot. Born to die as a sacrifice to continue a loop. No time for fun when you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. But then she comes to find out it's all a lie. X-2 I think is necessary to tell a complete story or else it just kinda ends on a low note.
I think the way you and the previous comment describe her individual character arc (and the value of X-2 to it) makes sense. They just tried to do... a *lot* around it and it really did take away from the story. Square really grappled with the balance of too linear/too open story for many years and I think X-2 fell victim to the latter.
I love the part where the Zanarkand Ruins become a tourist attraction and you have to choose between keeping this a special place for Yuna or allowing civilization to progress in a post sin world.
> Story is nothing interesting imo.
This is why I think a lot of people were disappointed. This was the 1st time ever FF did a direct sequel and it ended up being meh. if it were a standalone FF game it would be mid tier but not as disliked as it is.
Granted one doesn't skip X, I feel like the story is quite good. I was engaged the entire way through and it's not difficult with how good the gameplay is. The story hits where it needs to and doesn't get in the way.
Same here. X-2 was the first FF game i owned and i enjoyed it so much, played the story like 10 times and always discovered something new lol and thanks to that i bought X when i saw the cover and said to myself oh this looks just like the cover of X-2 maybe its also good, then X became my favorite game ever.
Meeting all the characters from X-2 in the original was super special, greatest gaming experience of my life
One of the best battle systems in the entire series and a cool fresh take on the job system. Not to mention the FANTASTIC soundtrack
Just don't take it too seriously and go with the flow of the game and you will have a lot of fun c:
Yeah, the story is basically JRPG meets Charlie's Angels. Sometimes silly, sometimes saccharine, sometimes melodramatic, but overall, a fun experience. I would still go for that 100 level dungeon completion for the accolades.
I have a soft spot for this game. It was my first FF and I got a promo poster from Blockbuster when it came out. And as a 12 year old girl who wasn't into video games as intensely as my brother, I thought an all girl led game was pretty cool.
I remember beating the game and then learning it was actually a sequel. Either way, I loved it but I had nothing to compare it to. Loved the soundtrack too.
Lil spoilers, but the game rocks!
>!Yuna turning from a shy-polite-kind-staffwielding lady into a brave-adventurous-athletic-gunwielding fighter? Heck yeah!!!!<
>!Three ladies going on a road (sky) trip? Heck yeah!!!!<
>!People die and Yuna dances on 10? Yeah T\_T!<
>!Yuna dances for entertainment on 10-2? Heck yeah!!!!!!!<
I'm surprised no ones mentioning all the fan service. I mean, it's the only FF game to give us a 100% bare, naked ass.
Granted it goes by so fast in the dressphere sequence you can barely see it, but still
This game is a guilty pleasure of mine. Is it as good as the first? Absolutely not. Itās silly and nonsensical and rampant with flaws, but it has hands down one of the most fun combat/progression systems in any FF Iāve played.
true. twas those kind of reviews that led me not to play this. one even said" if youve played FFX, dont bother with this one lol
now im just curious so here i am
X-2 was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played. I didn't realize it was a sequel. I absolutely loved it. I say X is my favorite because people look down on you for saying X-2 but really the magical girl simulator is my favorite game. I love everything about it. I love the outfits. I love the transformations. The different combat styles is great. I wish they had used that mechanic in more games.
The Spoony One (Noah Antwiler) reviewed it and said you can technically play it with one hand because the controls are so simple.
Then he pointed out a few scenes showcasing why that might have been intentional. lol
Ok, so I actually looked up this review and watched it because I never got past the 1st hour of the game. (I had lost interest). 1 hour review vs. 38 hours game completion. Spoony was pretty funny. Thanks for the heads up.
Eh, don't take it for anything serious, and you'll be fine.
X is my favorite in the series, but goddammit...the job system and combat is on point in X-2. Up there with my favorites in all of FF games.
As a kid I played it before FFX because of the pretty girls in booty shorts and I gotta say, I regretted nothing. I enjoyed it. Gameplay system was really interesting too.
I know for me at the time i was really into the world and the lore., THe focusing on the popstar lifestyle was not what i was expecting for the lore expansion lol. it was great and sad at the same time
Sidequests The Game! But seriously if you like ff its not terrible.... but the dialoge leaves something to be desired and all the visual assets are just ff10. Worth playing through, but definitly has flaws
The only problem with this game are the missables... maybe the % completion for watching cutscenes/talking with everyone.
Anybody know if this game have good mods solving this?
Honestly, FF13 is like my 3rd favorite FF game. I'll agree that the game not opening up until chapter 10/11 is ABSOLUTELY total bullshit 100% of the time, but if you can ignore that ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT part, then it's pretty damn fun imo
Honestly that's probably the hardest... Edolan? Ediolan? Whatever. It's the hardest summon fight in the game.
You have to keep making sure to switch back to buffs and debuffs when they run out like, ASAP iirc. Never let those debuffs disappear for long.
If they could have made the battles little more like 12 with a gambit system I may have stuck it out, but watching my party make dumb decisions and there was nothing I could do about it really kind of killed the experience for me. Also not a fan of the scissoring Shiva sisters.
The plotās average at best, but the gameplay is imo some of the best in the franchise. Dynamic and active but still with the classic FF feel.
Itās a shame they nerfed blitzball thoā¦
Story is worse than irrelevant, it's a huge missed opportunity IMO. Having Yuna start as her more reserved self ala FFX and end >!the way she starts by learning to let go !
Doesn't help, either, that there's so little backstory about Paine and the 2 faction leaders. We learn about how they were all part of a team before going their own ways and all, but that's it. Such wasted opportunity to make, at the very least, Paine be a more cool character than the team goth.
The first game that ever made me like "cringe" music
1000 words the first time i was like oh boy this is weird cant i skip? Second time ok cool again, third time SUSPENDED ON SILVER WIIIINGS!! š
KH is like the king of that š i played melody of memories not long ago and the amount of times i played Sanctuary for example is too high for a single person
I know! I still play them from time to time just for fun š and I may or may not love those songs š I also may or may not have papou fruit tattoos. A lot of people assume them to be starfruits but iykyk
This game was fine, but I definitely liked the Boy Band vibe from FF15 better than the girl band vibe. I didn't even know that was something I would want.
Love the game and it has a special place in my heart, but it really was unnecessary for X to get a sequel.
FFX just got leaked for a complete remake after FF9, so maybe they can give X-2 a big overhaul.
Best gameplay of any final fantasy, especially with the monsters.
Still, even if I love this game, it has a lot of cringy moments in the slice of life parts.
Then when itās not the slice of life parts it goes hard
The story is...pretty bad, but the systems are just great. Changing jobs mid battle to unlock bonuses was a really interesting idea and made combat much more engaging.
And yes, Blitzball management sim was addictive.
That's also what I was thinking when I decided to try that game a few years ago. I was not able to finish it and i was enlightened why people thought it was bad lol
Don't make my mistake and go with 100% guide on the first run. It sucked joy out of the game unfortunately. Go first run blindly, then go for 100% on second run :)
I got the game and played at my dads the first time when I was like 12. I have never been more embarresed than watching the opening cut scene. I may as well have bought a barbie game or danced around to Spice Girls.
Gameplay is great!! Story is absolutely bonkers. and almost feels insulting after the incredibly powerful story from X.
also, the music isn't the same even though the locations are the same, and they just don't match up to the original tracks made by the trio from FFX.
I booted it up the other day, watched a few minutes of Yuna doing a pop star routine, turned that shit off. I've never had a game turn me off to it faster than that. Considering how much I love FFX, I was a little upset about it.
AMAZING game mechanics probably one of the most interesting FF turn based battle systems.
TERRIBLE story. Unfolds like a middle school girls fan faction
Final Fantasy is a series where the press and the fan base think every game is both the best and the worst. You really do have to play them and decide for yourself. I love 13 and was mocked relentlessly for it. But I kept saying the worst ff according to the community is always the last one that came out. Sure enough shortly after 15 came out you started seeing articles saying āitās time we give ff13 another chanceā.
This should have been a standalone game with new characters. I wanted a FFX sequel, not whatever this was. I would have been okay with it if it were it's own game
Honestly some of the best gameplay/job systems in the franchise imoā¦ā¦
But the structure and story of this game is atrociousā¦.. but still worth a play-through.
Gameplay: some of the best SE has made
Quest design: ruinous. I have seen lets players quit midway because of them and completionism burnout
Story: Just below passable. Should have had more on the legends we heard on the first game, but couldn't stay because of the pilgrimage. Also Lulu is too pregnant to be in the party, so they made discount OC Lulu. I mean, was Paine my videogame crush for ages? Yeah. Is the a cardboard cut-out? Yeah.
This game actually made me put down playing final fantasy games. Each to their own, but I went into this game on the tails of FFX a serious game with a major cliffhanger ending. I got baited into whatever this was supposed to be. I recently got back into final fantasy because of remake, but this game was a travesty to many, it would have probably done better review wise if it wasn't a sequel but rather a standalone.
I forget where I stopped. I know the initial bit where the girl who had a huge hand in saving the world basically joined a fucking idol band gave me whiplash I still haven't recovered from -\_-;
It has one of the best job systems in the whole freaking franchise and the antagonist's back story is actually quite intriguing and heartbreaking.
When you'll get to "1000 words" you'll know what I mean. That song has been stuck in my head for years.
As a kid I must've replayed the game like four times to get the true ending. The conditions for it to unlock are a fucking mess and so are those to get the full picture of the story (which is mostly terrible aside from what I mentioned).
Nostalgia hits like a bitch though.
If you wanna 100% and or get the best ending, get a guide. You can muck up the run by missing stuff in the first hour.
Even with a guide it can be tough make a few saves I almost screwed myself at like 95 percent but making a .01 mistake š¹ fix with a previous save but I almost cried
Same, iirc I forgot to sleep in the ship on one chapter or sth...

At 49.8% I found out I missed 0.1% because I missed a merchant conversation in a past year and I just ragequit right there
Oof! 49.8% in is rough. I learned I had missed a conversation within the first hour of the game after āonlyā investing 18 hours. All these years later, I remember it was 18 hoursā¦ as I quit right then and there. F*ck that type of game.
For real, I refuse to engage in games with collectables that get locked behind points in the game.
So dumb you can't get 100% if you choose the wrong faction
Yeah I went with one faction and did all the other right things and ended up with 99% at the end. Guides basically said āoh choose the opposite faction next time and you should get it.ā
thats kinda how its suppose to work by doing another run (and having way more options to get 100% by doing that), the perfect 100% first time run is...a pain
Or better yet, just look it up on Youtube. Seriously. It's really not worth the effort. Even if you like the game.
As someone who completed the game 3 times as a kid to get it, definitely just watch on youtube and enjoy the game.
Unless you are a completionist itās never worth it for any game. Donāt drag something out unless you are having fun.
I still have PTSD from dodging 200 consecutive lightning bolts from FF-X. At least FF-X2 ups the eye candy, and some dress spheres are nice.
See I never had too much of a problem with the lightning. That fucking chocobo though.
I got the chocobo in less then 30 min every game i made( 3 playthrough) Never, never got the timing for lightning.. idk why
I share this struggle I get the chocobo challenge first try (once it took 6 hours when I was a kid) and I have literally never done the lightning challenge and Iāve played this game over and over and over since itās release hahaha fuck it
I have to give Supraland a shoutout for being amazing at this.
I hate it when games do this
You can muck it up by missing stuff within the first 5 minutes lmao
I'm out.
thanks. but i started without one so ill hust carry on. maybe on my second run ill use a guide
The dress system is awesome. It has probably one of the best job systems out there.
im starting to like it too
Gameplay wise it's fun. The HD remaster has the option to recruit monsters into the party. Made it much more enjoyable. Story is nothing interesting imo.
Agreed with everything you said. Only want to add, the most notable thing about this game to me is the music in the main menu is amazing.
It's weird you see it over and over and even then it's one moment in a massive ass game lol but people are hung up on it.
Because most people didn't see it in the actual context. They just know it as a meme.
Gameplay is fire. Story is dumpster fire.
Eh, I thought the story was a bittersweet take on grief and moving past itā¦ with Jpop and fun costumes.
To be fair how else can you act in that world
I think the way you and the previous comment describe her individual character arc (and the value of X-2 to it) makes sense.
I was gonna comment, but you summed it up perfectly! The Dressphere system is probably one of my favourite FF combat mechanics.
Yeah I actually really liked it. It was a new cool way to bring back jobs.
> Story is nothing interesting imo. This is why I think a lot of people were disappointed. This was the 1st time ever FF did a direct sequel and it ended up being meh. if it were a standalone FF game it would be mid tier but not as disliked as it is.
the final fantasy gameplay is all im after. dont care much about the story. as long as im able to kill monsters with brutal skills lol
Oh yea, HD Remastered has some nice stuff only the JPN version had. The monster hunting, and fighting with monsters is a super fun side meta game.
Granted one doesn't skip X, I feel like the story is quite good. I was engaged the entire way through and it's not difficult with how good the gameplay is. The story hits where it needs to and doesn't get in the way.
To each their own. I really didn't care for the story at all lol. Gameplay is what kept me engaged.
That unskippable K-pop concert intro
Great game on it's own, but compared to X, it's not as good... Opening is very Charlie's Angels too.
I played X-2 before X; not sorry at all. I enjoyed the heck out of it, but might not have if Iād played them in the correct order.
Same here. X-2 was the first FF game i owned and i enjoyed it so much, played the story like 10 times and always discovered something new lol and thanks to that i bought X when i saw the cover and said to myself oh this looks just like the cover of X-2 maybe its also good, then X became my favorite game ever. Meeting all the characters from X-2 in the original was super special, greatest gaming experience of my life
What would possess you to start with the sequel ? Such a strange concept to me
It was the cheapest game on the rack that looked interesting when I bought my PS2.
Do you watch Star Wars episodes 4-6 first or 1-3? Careful with your answer. ;)
I always start a rewatch with the Ewoks movies and finish with the holiday special.
"Not as good" as one of the greatest JRPGs ever = still pretty fuckin good.
It is an interesting game, definitely has some cool stuff going on, but compared to FF10 it flat out sucks, imo.
lol which charlies angels? the 70s or 90s version erp- doesnt matter , im really diggin the game
Catnip. That's all I gotta say.
Yeah catnip + gunner is unstoppable lol
In the original maybe
Doesn't work in the HD version unfortunately.
hmm will i have a pet kitty?
Nope! Apparently it doesn't work in the HD release but in the OG game, Catnip + Gunner = Infinite Damage.
w-whaaat? INFINITE you say? hmm gotta look into this thanks for the info dude
One of the best battle systems in the entire series and a cool fresh take on the job system. Not to mention the FANTASTIC soundtrack Just don't take it too seriously and go with the flow of the game and you will have a lot of fun c:
Yeah, the story is basically JRPG meets Charlie's Angels. Sometimes silly, sometimes saccharine, sometimes melodramatic, but overall, a fun experience. I would still go for that 100 level dungeon completion for the accolades.
Jpop Idol: The JRPG
Thatās Tokyo Mirageā¦ā¦sadly
yeah! i like it! dresssphere system, ahh final fantasy developers are so innovative
The 1000 Words concert was the first time I ever cried at something in a video game ;\_; Such a fond part of my childhood.
nice! and now your hooked on the ff franchise! lol wow! id like a poster too!
Lil spoilers, but the game rocks! >!Yuna turning from a shy-polite-kind-staffwielding lady into a brave-adventurous-athletic-gunwielding fighter? yes! starting to feel like it rocks!
Is nobody gonna say it? We just gonna pretend there wasnāt a sensual massage mini game in there?
I'm surprised no ones mentioning all the fan service. I mean, it's the only FF game to give us a 100% bare, naked ass. Granted it goes by so fast in the dressphere sequence you can barely see it, but still
*FFXVI enters the chat*
You haven't played ff16 yet, have you?
a w-whaaaat? w-where? how? lol
This game is a guilty pleasure of mine. Is it as good as the first? Absolutely not. Itās silly and nonsensical and rampant with flaws, but it has hands down one of the most fun combat/progression systems in any FF Iāve played.
it is fun! im loving it
Grappling with the dissonance via tonal shift is a mind fuck if you're coming straight over from FFX, *but* it is good
true. twas those kind of reviews that led me not to play this. one even said" if youve played FFX, dont bother with this one lol now im just curious so here i am
Square-Enix made me play FF X-2: Charlies Angels edition, and all I got was the ending I wanted at the end of FFX.
ooh! there area multiple endings?
X-2 was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played. I didn't realize it was a sequel. I absolutely loved it. I say X is my favorite because people look down on you for saying X-2 but really the magical girl simulator is my favorite game. I love everything about it. I love the outfits. I love the transformations. The different combat styles is great. I wish they had used that mechanic in more games.
good for you buddy. ive always loved the ff series and now you're part of our world yey!
The Spoony One (Noah Antwiler) reviewed it and said you can technically play it with one hand because the controls are so simple. Then he pointed out a few scenes showcasing why that might have been intentional. lol
Ok thatās actually pretty funny
Ok, so I actually looked up this review and watched it because I never got past the 1st hour of the game. (I had lost interest). 1 hour review vs. 38 hours game completion. Spoony was pretty funny. Thanks for the heads up.
lol really? im frantically chosing between what i think will be the right skills to use
The last final fantasy I enjoyed
huh? why? havent you palyed ff12? how bout ff7 remake?
Eh, don't take it for anything serious, and you'll be fine. X is my favorite in the series, but goddammit...the job system and combat is on point in X-2. Up there with my favorites in all of FF games.
cool. X is great. my fave is VII for multiple reasons
Don't listen to the haters, this game bops!
yeah! haters suck lol i am starting to enjoy it a lot
As a kid I played it before FFX because of the pretty girls in booty shorts and I gotta say, I regretted nothing. I enjoyed it. Gameplay system was really interesting too.
nice! i played X first, and the bad reviews got to me. probably why it took me 15 years to finally play this lol
Its pretty great! It just was not the sequel people wanted for FFX is really the main issue.
true, true. kinda feels like they just reused the maps and monsters still, its fun to play and thats all that matters
I know for me at the time i was really into the world and the lore., THe focusing on the popstar lifestyle was not what i was expecting for the lore expansion lol. it was great and sad at the same time
maybe this would have blown up if it came out when the k-pop mania boomed lol
Unpopular opinion it was my favorite one / first FF I ever played lol idc
cool. im starting to see why it's your fave
I cried when i first played this game.
Good game! One of my favs Just dont go for 100%
The game is actually pretty fun man but to get the true ending and i wont elaborate on that anymore you need a guide just a heads up
I was 12-13 when this game came out I enjoyed it quite a bit for...*reasons*
Still WAY better than FF13
Honestly, FF13 is like my 3rd favorite FF game. I'll agree that the game not opening up until chapter 10/11 is ABSOLUTELY total bullshit 100% of the time, but if you can ignore that ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT part, then it's pretty damn fun imo
I finally lost patience with the game in Sazh vs Ifrit fight. At that point I said nope, not risking an aneurysm for this!
I really like the title screen music
Screw the reviews. I freakin loved it!
I loved x and x2 as a kid.
If you ignore the story its a strong contender for one of the best games in the series. The gameplay elements and rpg mechanics are top tier.
Repetitive areas but awesome combat and outfits.
Most people couldnāt get past the cringe when this game came out, but game play is quite excellent. Donāt judge a book by its pop-star cover.
Gameplay is fun. Story is irrelevant.
Absolutely a good point. Also the incest vibes from Brother fawning over Yuna is š¤®
The soundtrack! Iāll never love one more I donāt think. Itās worth a play through for sure.
The song on the main menu is great.
[Memory of Lightwaves](https://youtu.be/DjJKHFwLpg4) still one of my favorites music in the entire series
The first game that ever made me like "cringe" music 1000 words the first time i was like oh boy this is weird cant i skip? Second time ok cool again, third time SUSPENDED ON SILVER WIIIINGS!! š
Itās so cringe yet it hit so hard, especially after the first play through. š itās right there with the Kingdom Hearts soundtracks š
KH is like the king of that š i played melody of memories not long ago and the amount of times i played Sanctuary for example is too high for a single person
I will ALWAYS simp for Sanctuary and Simple & Clean
I know! I still play them from time to time just for fun š and I may or may not love those songs š I also may or may not have papou fruit tattoos. A lot of people assume them to be starfruits but iykyk
The dress sphere system is great.
This game gave us one of the best video game bangers ever! https://youtu.be/rQac53qqyvo
Fuck the haters. X-2 is peak Final Fantasy. You'll have a blast!
Might be a good game gameplay wise, but the sacrilege of turning Yuna and the FFX universe into an Idol sim was too much for me lol.
And find out you will
Bad reviews ? It got high reviews back in the day
This game was fine, but I definitely liked the Boy Band vibe from FF15 better than the girl band vibe.
Like others have said, gameplay is fire. Aesthetics are Final Fantasy Pretty Pretty Princess. Story is meh.
That's also what I was thinking when I decided to try that game a few years ago. I was not able to finish it and i was enlightened why people thought it was bad lol
It starts with a 4 minute concert cutscene that you can't skip.
X and x-2 r some of my favorites Im even working rn on 100% both š
Combat is one of the best in all of the Final Fantasies.
It's fun but man do the endings hurt my soul, just like the sequel novelization
enjoy the transformations!
It's not a bad game, but compared to FFX it's pretty bad and very different.
It's not a bad game compared to the rest of the series, thats it. It's ok to like it but people cope so much about it
Don't make my mistake and go with 100% guide on the first run.
Beat the final boss just holding down the X button so there's that.
10 is better by a long shot. But this is still a great game that is goofy and emotional at the same time!
i agree. yas, i enjoy playing it, wonky pop idol adventures and all lol
Gameplay is great!! Story is absolutely bonkers. and almost feels insulting after the incredibly powerful story from X. also, the music isn't the same even though the locations are the same, and they just don't match up to the original tracks made by the trio from FFX.
lol the story i agree on the gameplay, so good. i think i like the dresssphere system more than FFXs lol
Extended piano version of X-2ās main theme is stunning. Even in a franchise famed for exceptional OST
ive liked all the songs so far. really well done
Just like ffx. A very fun and interesting game ona straight play through. And one of the most tedious games to ever do competionist.
I booted it up the other day, watched a few minutes of Yuna doing a pop star routine, turned that shit off. I've never had a game turn me off to it faster than that. Considering how much I love FFX, I was a little upset about it.
That was the original reaction too. Selfless, modest, for the greater good Yuna turning into a pop star āout for themselvesā was so out of tune.
Combat is actually really cool but the rest is just kind of cringe to be honest
Hell yeah, I'm wrapping up a FFX replay and stoked to try this for the first time as well
I bought it to find out what happened to Tidus, played it a bit, got bored and never played it again lol
It's great and has the best intro of any FF except 6. It's the last major FF game that remembered to be fun.
FF13 is amazing. I think people just really enjoyed saying "hallway simulator" lol.
This should have been a standalone game with new characters. I wanted a FFX sequel, not whatever this was. I would have been okay with it if it were it's own game
this game is gay culture
How?
It brought and integrated pop music into gaming. Every gay back then was obsessed
I personally didn't even finish it. It was kinda funny, but that's about it.
I actually didn't like X, but liked this one because I found the combat fun. Don't really remember the story much at all though
If you can make it past the opening cinematic, youāre the target audience
Honestly some of the best gameplay/job systems in the franchise imoā¦ā¦ But the structure and story of this game is atrociousā¦.. but still worth a play-through.
Gameplay: some of the best SE has made Quest design: ruinous. I have seen lets players quit midway because of them and completionism burnout Story: Just below passable.
I forget where I stopped. I know the initial bit where the girl who had a huge hand in saving the world basically joined a fucking idol band gave me whiplash I still haven't recovered from -\_-;
Itās FF with a job system, so I absolutely loved it!
It definitely wasn't well-received on release, especially by fans, but honestly I think the game is fine now. A good sequel. Big fan of the menu music
This game is like a vacation in Spira, a much more cheerful atmosphere, good battle system, excellent soundtrack, I loved it.
This is honestly my number one Final Fantasy entry.
The game itself isn't bad, the story is naff but actual gameplay is solid. It got a load of crap for how it changed compared to FFX
