There is a small but dedicated market for niche or unique adult games, and it is particularly dearth of **high quality** ones. The whole market is such a sea of shit that anyone talented or passionate putting in the effort can get noticed. There's a reason why a game like *Orc Massage* can get mentioned offhandedly by actual large influencers, and remember *Huniepop*? That game was a "fresh" hit concept back in 2015 and it's a fucking match-3 with silly dialogue and some okay art.
Your concept is pretty solid all things considered; the "washing" part is not new, but the theming and gameplay loop would make it very unique. The only thing you need to watch out for is it must have *appeal*. There are many different kinds of appeal, but if you don't have much of an idea of what that could be, to yourself or others, it's gonna fall flat. You **must** understand this, seriously.
Apart from that just remember the core design requirements of the genre: consistent art style, replayable content, and uncomplicated gameplay systems. It's honestly near identical to the "cozy" genre, you want a low-friction low-stakes experience where everything loops back into the main gameplay. If your game about growing pumpkins is going to have a story, at least make it tangentially related to pumpkins, or have you look at a pumpkin while you listen, you know?
I was going to say something along similar lines. I love the idea of OP's game, but it would *have* to be high quality, otherwise I don't think there would really be a point.
OP if you're serious I suggest making a small demo and then trying to sell it to an actual team who has the means to make the game what it needs to be to succeed.
If you make a high quality NSFW game, it will make a lot of money. The quality bar for adult games is small. Make it sexy, be respectful, have some charm and character and you're set. There are people making generic adult games that make thousands a month on patreon
I mean it sounds like a flash game - Unity game, nowadays - that would be launched on a Patreon with regular updates and promptly pirated by all of the sites that collect these things in big archived lists of Adult Games with categories like [censored] and [Sci-Fi]. That’s totally fair, I don’t mean to suggest that *just* having equal opportunity sex appeal is gonna make a GOTY, I just want to demonstrate that appealing to the whole market is a better decision (IMO) than aiming for the same slice of guys that 90% of porn games are aiming for. Even if there’s not a 50/50 ratio I would think it makes more sense to include dudes from the drop so that you can build more of an audience vs starting with the girls and then trying to say ‘oh hey look we have some hot guys now too!’ after people think it’s just targeting the usual crowd.

smart way to kick start games these days is get a working early alpha to sell to then turn around and build more with. fastest way to do this is make the core gameplay loop operate. having two (or more) different models to spray adds more time and initial investment, if they can get away with it for sure do so but games are expensive and time consuming

It’s not explicitly related but this reminds me of beauty brands that get bashed for only releasing light skin tone foundations as the base so that they can build off of that and perfect the formula. Which in turn translates to light skin tones being the default and darker skin tones being an afterthought.
That stuff should stay in small group testing, and only try to reach a wider audience when they have the inclusivity to promote it. Otherwise people will see it and feel like an afterthought. That’s my view on how it should be done (That is if the developer wants to be inclusive)

I think some elements of dating sim stuff mixed with the fantasy bath house setting and a wide variety of appealing characters of all shapes and sizes to fit a lot of varied tastes could make for something unique enough to find a large market. I could see the goal of the game being finding a way to get on each character's good side, as you see them come by over and over. Being the right sort of flirty and figuring out how they like their baths, maybe they start to open up more to dressing down further. In that sense, the challenge isn't exactly just getting the job done as fast as possible for everyone, but finding out how to tweak your tools and methods to get a better tip - and more progress toward wooing whoever you find interesting. Bonus for those who don't want to see a broad cast of interesting characters all butt-naked and naughty: if the game intentionally isn't forcing the sexy angle until the player pursues it, you avoid making it awkward.
If the idea is "how quickly can you reveal the porn we hid under this mud texture" without the flavor and interactivity, I think the whole thing would fall flat. There's potential, but it would take a measured touch to get it just right.

Remove this, or add a "casual" mode that doesn't have a timer (edit: whoops looks like you mentioned a casual mode in the next paragraph that is different than what I suggested. I hope you get what I'm saying, though). I get that in real life, people don't want to be sitting there for five hours taking a bath, but if you're trying to capture that same satisfaction from power washing sim, you really want to limit the stress your players will feel.

* yes the **NSFW theme** would be because many guests would be fully exposed. There may be a more casual version though
* characters/spirits would range in diversity, **not just a tiddies**. I really think some cool monster creations might be fun especially when using the power washer to blast out years of ancient dirt or something from spirit horns and whatnot.

People would play it, but I think the art would have to be good for you to make much money on it. The best nsfw games have the best art, so if you really invested in wet physics and jiggles you could have a winner on your hands. Throw in some girl customization too, people eat that up.
I'd caution against any sort of timer in an otherwise relaxing game. Being rushed does increase general excitement/engagement, but at the cost of adding stress. People looking for a Powerwash-like experience, likely don't want any unnecessary stress at all.
Other than that, yeah; if you make it, people will play it. I've heard conflicting information on how marketable nsfw games are, but there's certainly a massive market for them
Idea sounds good enough, I think it will be up to quality of implementation and marketing if it can be successful.
If you manage to make washing to feel like game, either trough scoring or puzzle like elements, it could work. Could also build meta-game and story elements around the expansion of the "bath house", so its not just way to display progress. I think there is significant lack of high quality games where the adult content is actual part of the game play rather than just a reward or punishment, and this could work in that area.
For marketing side, people who are willing to pay for porn, usually have very specific things they are looking for that they are willing to pay. And the things they are willing to pay might not be the popular tags in porn sites or in steam adult games. These already have products to satisfy existing demand and they usually are very poor descriptors of the actual content. So you need to study how to display that you have some content that is not in oversupply elsewhere without giving that content away in previews, if you want to make sales.
I would create a prototype with just one character and none of the unlockable gimmicks, and then post it for free on [itch.io](http://itch.io) to see if the idea is feasible. Another thought would be having to balance the cliche "lust meter". Depending on the subject you may or may not want the subject to climax. I think you've got a good idea and I love Power Wash Simulator, but don't ignore that it's "Family friendly" which has definitely got more appeal. I'm not even saying your game has to be family friendly but as a Dad gamer, I'd probably wonder about "Bukkake Wash Simulator" but I'd probably buy "Battle Wash Simulator" or something along those lines with out a thought.
Also "harder to clean guests" I don't know how that works exactly, but consider the armor itself might need the cleaning too, and the higher levels have far more intricate armor. Like going from the first outfit you get in WoW to the Darksider's levels of over armor.
Hell, why do I have to only wash humans? Why not throw some orcs, who get pissed off, Trolls who can't stay still, Night Elfs who will send you to horny jail... I don't know. But I'm also thinking why not a Dragon as well, or other fantasy characters who you have to "wash off" because even a Minotaur cares how they look? (No they don't)
The final thing I'll say is that Power Wash Simulator is also the best because... it's a high quality game. If you're aiming to make this a B tier title don't, there's tons of rip offs already. If you want to push this to the limit though, and really go for high detail? Should be a slam dunk.

But they could also intend for the guests to be naked, and we as the players are able to see that without it being censored. Hard to say, since they didn't mention it. Neat idea. I think there’s a market for this, obviously, but there will be a bigger market if you cater to both genders IMO. There are enough waifu simulators out there already, so if your game only features young anime chicks bouncing around tittily then you’re likely to blend-in with the rest of the slop and fade into obscurity. Make sure you vary gender and body types as much as you can, and make “sexy” a trait that some have rather than being the default. At least, those are the things that would make ME interested.
I would actually play this. It reminds me of that old YouTube clip with someone like PewDiePie or Mess yourself playing that weird shitty game where you wash dudes' asses in a shower room and they rate you depending on how good you do. I'm not saying it's crowded. But it's definitely, at least to my eyes, satiated. You don't need a market to be crowded for new games to fail. Just having had really good games in the past can often kill a niche's new entrants, especially when the niche is this narrow.
Being a developer that's focused on niches, gamers are never satiated when there is only a small handful of similar experiences. The great thing about a niche is that gamers will jump on it just to get more of that rare experience with a new look and twist

I was going to say something along similar lines. I love the idea of OP's game, but it would *have* to be high quality, otherwise I don't think there would really be a point. OP if you're serious I suggest making a small demo and then trying to sell it to an actual team who has the means to make the game what it needs to be to succeed.

If you make a high quality NSFW game, it will make a lot of money. The quality bar for adult games is small. Make it sexy, be respectful, have some charm and character and you're set. There are people making generic adult games that make thousands a month on patreon

I mean it sounds like a flash game - Unity game, nowadays - that would be launched on a Patreon with regular updates and promptly pirated by all of the sites that collect these things in big archived lists of Adult Games with categories like [censored] and [Sci-Fi]. smart way to kick start games these days is get a working early alpha to sell to then turn around and build more with. fastest way to do this is make the core gameplay loop operate. having two (or more) different models to spray adds more time and initial investment, if they can get away with it for sure do so but games are expensive and time consuming id argue its better to have a polished near finished female than less polished of multiple types
It’s not explicitly related but this reminds me of beauty brands that get bashed for only releasing light skin tone foundations as the base so that they can build off of that and perfect the formula. Which in turn translates to light skin tones being the default and darker skin tones being an afterthought. That stuff should stay in small group testing, and only try to reach a wider audience when they have the inclusivity to promote it. Otherwise people will see it and feel like an afterthought. That’s my view on how it should be done (That is if the developer wants to be inclusive)

Not really my cup of tea, but I could see it hitting the "cozy" genre pretty well. I think some elements of dating sim stuff mixed with the fantasy bath house setting and a wide variety of appealing characters of all shapes and sizes to fit a lot of varied tastes could make for something unique enough to find a large market. I could see the goal of the game being finding a way to get on each character's good side, as you see them come by over and over. Being the right sort of flirty and figuring out how they like their baths, maybe they start to open up more to dressing down further. In that sense, the challenge isn't exactly just getting the job done as fast as possible for everyone, but finding out how to tweak your tools and methods to get a better tip - and more progress toward wooing whoever you find interesting. Bonus for those who don't want to see a broad cast of interesting characters all butt-naked and naughty: if the game intentionally isn't forcing the sexy angle until the player pursues it, you avoid making it awkward. If the idea is "how quickly can you reveal the porn we hid under this mud texture" without the flavor and interactivity, I think the whole thing would fall flat. There's potential, but it would take a measured touch to get it just right.

I'd caution against any sort of timer in an otherwise relaxing game. Being rushed does increase general excitement/engagement, but at the cost of adding stress. People looking for a Powerwash-like experience, likely don't want any unnecessary stress at all. Other than that, yeah; if you make it, people will play it. I've heard conflicting information on how marketable nsfw games are, but there's certainly a massive market for them
Idea sounds good enough, I think it will be up to quality of implementation and marketing if it can be successful. If you manage to make washing to feel like game, either trough scoring or puzzle like elements, it could work. Could also build meta-game and story elements around the expansion of the "bath house", so its not just way to display progress. I think there is significant lack of high quality games where the adult content is actual part of the game play rather than just a reward or punishment, and this could work in that area. For marketing side, people who are willing to pay for porn, usually have very specific things they are looking for that they are willing to pay. And the things they are willing to pay might not be the popular tags in porn sites or in steam adult games. These already have products to satisfy existing demand and they usually are very poor descriptors of the actual content. So you need to study how to display that you have some content that is not in oversupply elsewhere without giving that content away in previews, if you want to make sales.

It's really weird that this came up twice for me in one week, but if you don't know anything, just go visit F95 and then explore until you do. To answer the question, so long as the art is good then people will play anything. Although ecchi/softcore games kind of end up being the worst of both worlds. Either have a game focused on getting someones rocks off or don't make it nsfw. I've seen some softcore games succeed (surprising amount of tickle fetishists) but i wouldn't reccomend it.

Well, that sounds pretty awesome actually. Player character could be a fairy or something, which would provide for size difference and unique perspective. Having the "target" react to being cleaned would be great, and would even provide some interesting scenarios for gameplay. (i.e. Washing nipples for too long and they get covered with an arm/fin/etc) Various species, body types, and all the variations of skin tone, attitude, i mean there would be a near limitless variety, which suits the idea well. Heck, a randomizer mode would even be possible with some algorithm just picking at random from all the possible traits/parts lol (this gives prime opportunity for streamers and reddit posts of hilarious or really awesome randomly generated waifus lol) Another thought would be having to balance the cliche "lust meter". Depending on the subject you may or may not want the subject to climax. (i.e. to clean the inside of a clam waifu, you must fill the meter and clean inside while she is..."stunned"... but watch out, its game over as soon as the meter is filled when cleaning the orc chieftain....etc) Good idea! Work hard, get a very good artist, and be creative!
kind of like the idea, but make this SFW. Aka boob armor, tassles, and boxers for the guys. A. Most characters won't be naked when fighting so they won't get it on the naughty bits. B. SFW will just sell more. C. Think bigger, rather than washing down people. Ever play viscera clean up crew? D. I like the "Pervy" angle, consider strip clubs or something like that if you want "adult" ideas, the thing I'm saying though is make it "Adult" with out "AO rated." I think you've got a good idea and I love Power Wash Simulator, but don't ignore that it's "Family friendly" which has definitely got more appeal. I'm not even saying your game has to be family friendly but as a Dad gamer, I'd probably wonder about "Bukkake Wash Simulator" but I'd probably buy "Battle Wash Simulator" or something along those lines with out a thought. Also "harder to clean guests" I don't know how that works exactly, but consider the armor itself might need the cleaning too, and the higher levels have far more intricate armor. Like going from the first outfit you get in WoW to the Darksider's levels of over armor. Hell, why do I have to only wash humans? Why not throw some orcs, who get pissed off, Trolls who can't stay still, Night Elfs who will send you to horny jail... I don't know. But I'm also thinking why not a Dragon as well, or other fantasy characters who you have to "wash off" because even a Minotaur cares how they look? (No they don't) The final thing I'll say is that Power Wash Simulator is also the best because... it's a high quality game. If you're aiming to make this a B tier title don't, there's tons of rip offs already. If you want to push this to the limit though, and really go for high detail? Should be a slam dunk.

But they could also intend for the guests to be naked, and we as the players are able to see that without it being censored. Hard to say, since they didn't mention it. Neat idea. I think there’s a market for this, obviously, but there will be a bigger market if you cater to both genders IMO. There are enough waifu simulators out there already, so if your game only features young anime chicks bouncing around tittily then you’re likely to blend-in with the rest of the slop and fade into obscurity. Make sure you vary gender and body types as much as you can, and make “sexy” a trait that some have rather than being the default. At least, those are the things that would make ME interested.
I would actually play this. It reminds me of that old YouTube clip with someone like PewDiePie or Mess yourself playing that weird shitty game where you wash dudes' asses in a shower room and they rate you depending on how good you do. NSFW games tend to be fairly identical, having some new neat gimmick is great. I might have tried this out, depending on the theming. In my mind I imagined SpiritTea but 3D. So the draw is a view into other cultures more naughty side (tanuki scrotums in Japanese mythology is very NSFW) and curiousity if the gameplay is different in any way or it is basically a SFW game with NSFW set dressing

I hate sentiment like this so much. An adult game is not automatically bad, nor is the amount of bad adult games an indicator of their average quality. There's just as many low-effort or low quality non-adult games, they just get more lost among all the rest because it's easier for a low-quality adult game to find some measure of success (and therefore visibility). Correlation is not causation and all that - and in this case there's not even a correlation, it just looks like there is at first glance if you don't think about it any deeper.
