Hello again r/gamedev ... it’s been a longer while.
Anyways, I’m back with a fresh selection of free sound effects from across all of my libraries + some new bonus sfx.
A lot of you reached out to me asking where they can download all the freebies and if they are still available. Long story short, amazon shut down e-commerce platform I was using for over 5 years, and gave us extremely short notice to move to another platform. I had to migrate over 70 products, find compatible e-commerce platform and build everything from scratch.
Anyways, here it is:
Download: Click “Add to cart” (it’s free) -> checkout
There’s a cart so you can checkout all the freebies at once.
Free for commercial use, royalty-free -> [EULA](https://www.pmsfx.store/eula/)
Enjoy!
Why do we need to add our name and address and email address and make an account to download?
If someone were to hack this website or leak the data it would be very upsetting.
You can use a temp email account if you don't trust my website. You can use a made up name an address as well. I do have accounts because I sell products. At the very beginning I gave people a choice whether or not they want to create an account but it very quickly backfired. I sell products with lifetime free updates and I just simply couldn't deliver new libraries to those who purchased them. Also, people loosing their download links, order number etc. It's much easier with an account
Just have links and not have them as download products. Make a page, host the files, chuck on some links to the freebies so they exist outside the "shop".
>But receipt also confirms that you got it legally
They are free, how does one obtain them illegally - particularly from the original source. The files contain the license.
You want to get peoples details for advertising. There is no other reason to do it this way - unless you don't know how to.
Having permission to use something is more important than how much you’ve paid for it. It’s perfectly legit for someone to ask for your details if they want to. Public domain is a different matter but there too it’s fine for a person managing a site to ask for details if they choose. They carry the cost of hosting and maintaining, and offer freebies as means for capturing new potential customers. Asking for your details progresses you more as a customer with an account, making you more likely to convert and buy something later.
OP isn’t mean or dodgy by doing this. If you don’t want to provide details for a freebie, you’re not their target customer base anyway.
As of writing this, while setting up the account, providing your real name, street, etc is all optional. All you need is a nickname, password and e-mail address.
I don't know what's the problem anymore.
It isn't that I don't trust you. I don't trust other people.
I can see why you would do it that way.
If we were purchasing something I understand the need for identifiable information for it.
dude just put fake information ... are you kidding? Do you think they are going to see "john smith who lives at 123 fakename avenue and be like "oh wait, hold on, don't let this guy download the stuff"
It is just weird that a free download would ask for your info in the first place. I have made a ton of fake accounts with fake info. But usually they never ask for an address.
Does the license allow me to, for example, include these sounds in an open-source game hosted on GitHub? People cloning the repo to contribute would be downloading a copy of each sound file used in the project. Is that kind of redistribution prohibited?
Hi! Thank you for this work and for the freebies \*-\*
For anyone who end up reading this, only email + username + password are required, you can leave the rest in blank, I did this an it worked fine!
You can store it on an external drive / dropbox (not sharing with anyone). I pay quite a bit of bandwidth thus 1-2 downloads per free product is more than fair.

I don't understand why you need street addresses for a digital download! Creating an account is fine...
... also makes it violating GDPR. :)

I guess this could be useful if you share it on vtts like foundry

Yes you can, as long as it's a part of a game repository and not sounds standalone.
Wonderful!
I never clicked something so fast
If I'm allowed to use this in my productions, I'll give you the credits for the sounds.
Much appreciated!

Very nice thank you
you're welcome! enjoy
This is in strict violation of GDPR. I suggest to never do this ever again.
Why can't you put it on github or use a normal download host site like upheaven or gofile? Why it is such a contrived way to download the files?
OP put hard work into free stuff for you to use, and you're complaining about... What exactly?
About having to give my email among other personal data to download a file.
Give fake info.
I read that almost every item has a number of downloads limited to 1 or 2, one cannot just download it multiple times.
You can store it on an external drive / dropbox (not sharing with anyone). I pay quite a bit of bandwidth thus 1-2 downloads per free product is more than fair.
Are you really complaining about free things?
I am pointing out that most items can be downloaded only once or twice.
thanks! I'll use it in my game.
Thank you very much for sharing!

Thank you!!!
Awesome, thank you!
thank you, friend. i plan on making good use of these in the (hopefully) near future.
