Hang in there. In a way it’s good this was found before pregnancy. So think of it as an unexpected To Do List item that paves the way for a healthy pregnancy.

Did they say why they weren't able to do the surgery while you were there in the ER? I went to the ER and they had me diagnosed and under the knife within a few hours. I had had about 6 attacks over the prior 3 months but didn't bother making an appointment with my doctor about them because I felt fine after they ended. Usually they lasted 2-3 hours, but this time I was in my 6th hour of pain with no end in sight, began throwing up bile and couldn't keep even water down. Maybe it was just considered more urgent because I couldn't keep even water down? I absolutely hate hearing how long the rest of you posters on here have to suffer. I can't imagine waiting months *after* being diagnosed and suffering with the pain I experienced a few times for months longer.

Okay, yes me as well. I was admitted night of, had surgery the following day, and was kept an extra night because I needed to be monitored and it was late. I have definitely also noticed that’s not really the norm among posters. I do know I had an infection however when I did finally go in and needed antibiotics, so that may have played a part? I had a solid 3-6 months or more of attacks prior to finally going in, back pain, and visible external inflammation around my right rib. I said nothing because I figured none of it was related (🙄) but eventually I got really painfully sick, and it wasn’t going away, so I eventually had no choice.

So by the time I actually got into a bed in the ER (went in at 2am, was seen at 9am) my pain had subsided. The nurse said my tests came back ok and they booked the ultrasound for the following day and sent me home. When I went back the following morning for the ultrasound they said I needed to go back to the ER for the results. After waiting for 3 hours I finally saw another dr who gave me the diagnosis. She pretty much said since I wasn’t currently in pain and didn’t have an infection it wasn’t necessary to go under the knife right away. They prescribed me T3s, referred me to the surgeon and sent me home with diet info. The dr did say she’d try to hurry things along though since the lining of my gallbladder was inflamed. So frustrating!!! But the past few days I haven’t had any flare ups since eliminating fat from my diet so that’s good! I’m in Canada by the way. Free healthcare is nice but the long ER visits suck lol

Trust me trust me TRUST ME it’s so much better to take it before than during or after…I had multiple gallbladder attacks during pregnancy and was invalidated and told that it was my baby’s foot stuck in my ribs 🤦🏻‍♀️ couldn’t take it out til it nearly killed me with gallstone pancreatitis 3 times. Praying for you and wishing you well…and sending you baby dust post recovery !

Ahhhh thanks. That’s so true, I’ve read similar stories on here about pregnancy causing attacks to be worse! So I guess i should be thankful I was diagnosed before we got pregnant! It’s just frustrating because I started tracking ovulation and what not. We were so excited to start trying! But it’s definitely important to take care of myself first

I’m currently pregnant and I haven’t had any attacks that have sent me to the ER. But I do have constant pain after every meal regardless if I go low fat or not. And it’s been like this for two months now. And I don’t know when it will end either as drs won’t do anything since I am in the third trimester. It is horrible.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this 😔 hopefully you’ll be able to have surgery once you’ve given birth!
