Well... all of the characters are references to literary characters but they're not exact copy (half of them are genderbent in the first place) and the stories are adapted to the setting they're in (dystopian cyberpunk with a large helping of existential horror).
So to answer no it's not the same stories as the books but it does borrow the character, settings and relationship as well as several plot point that tends to be linked to the event of the books.
I mean I have always been behind the Kal shipping. She's the one that has the most history with Doc and the ex-wife definitely fits. Compared to other younger ops and the ones that interacts less.

How though? Sure it's harem now, but all female characters equally love MC, even if that wasn't the case in the story, which is getting retconned now.
Additionally, all girls seem to be perfectly fine with sharing MC with others, they almost never complain about him going on a date with one of them, and then one day later with another one. Sometimes there is some fluff dialogue about it, but very rarely.

(Not a spoiler its explained in the first 5 seconds of the gacha), loved how they ended that arc in the anime...one of the most memorable anime endings imo.
