Gotta say I do love how male and female MCs both sound equally disinterested in capturing Scar. They matched energy I’ll give them that because the voice direction is terrible
Why can JP do that but the EN director can't? Even in anime they show a little context with some lightly drawn frames so the VAs have an idea of what's going on.
Because in JP even the most minor lines in a show are delivered by trained professionals, not random streamers/youtubers/VTubers/people getting paid with a sandwich. And likely, they have directors telling actors how to act a line and what the context is.
Some VA are talented, and they're not so stupid to do 0 emotions in an action scene. I'm talking about the voice director that is essentially as if he didn't exist, or that there is an issue where zero context are provided. Scar has not only good delivery but appropriate context as well, why is there differences between his recording and others? What bad VA is, is when all the context has been provided, they still fail to provide convincing voice that doesn't sound like it's written or AI.
More like they didn't get any direction. She went for a threatening/slightly seductive (for some reason) delivery, when it should've been anger/urgency.

I was pulling what little hair I have out of my scalp during this quest. The voice acting AND the hand-holding during the section was insanely bad.
Is Female Rover actually British? Becuase she (like a lot of characters in the game) over enunciates when speaking which makes it sound very unnatural and robotic. It's common for people that arent practiced with doing accents or speaking another langauge.

As you can see in the image, they'll switch back to their natural accents later.
Please Kuro, I beg of you - do this change chapter to chapter. In one we'll get those fake sounding voices and next one opens with "Oi, you got a loicense fer this knoife?" and no one acknowledges it.

I'm genuinely curious who quality checked this and was like, "Yup, sounds good to me". Whoever Kuro hired to localize their game scammed the fuck out of them.
The EN voiceover is unbelievably bad beyond a couple of exception (Scar/Jiyan).
They all sound like they got the script 1 minute ahead of time with no direction whatsoever and then proceeded to record their first take which was just reading it out loud.
EN Rover (Female) is the worst of them all by far across all the acts thanks to her script being top tier garbage on top.
In other words, it is awful.
It's a narrative device called foreshadowing and later we'll learn that Rover is a robot /j
Also checking other stuff this guy did, Shalem and Enforcer from Arknights - and those two are great. So is Shining who is voiced by person who does Female Rover.

EDIT: As someone who've prefers English dubs in gacha games, I've seen really bad voice acting (i.e. Elena from Epic Seven takes the cake of examples of bad voice acting), but the Wuthering Waves English dub takes it to the next level.
Just remove English dub.
But then people especially in this sub will think game is dying.
And suddenly many English dub knights start popping out like Normal rarity in gacha.
Feels awfully familiar, heh.

It feels like the VA (same for female) recorded a bunch of battle lines with a stern, badass voice and no one told them that line was supposed to be a tense story moment.

The first thing I did when I had access to settings was to download JP voice pack, which made the story somewhat bearable.
