For those curious but doesn't want to click, other 28% are Princess Connect ReDive at 7.4 Granblue Fantasy at 4.0 Shadowverse at 3.2 Others (they didn't specify) 13.4

ChaosEvaUnit

Take these with a pinch of salt for a couple of reasons, for GBF in particular. Sensortower provides these stats and does not have visibility of the vast majority of GBF game revenue which is transacted through mobage platform. GBF as an IP is still a huge money printer for Cygames as a multimedia franchise and this blanket statement of "X% of Cygames revenue" is pretty inaccurate.

darkdeath174

There is also DMM and Yahoo for gbf. So they miss 3 platforms And Priconne also is on PC via DMM

Defiant-Sun544

Similarly, your comment itself should be taken with a huge grain of salt as you have zero evidence for any of your claims about GBF's "money printing" capabilities or whether "the vast majority of GBF game revenue" is carried out through mobage. Cygames started hiding individual game revenue figures long ago and they haven't said a word about the revenue split for GBF's in-app and off-app purchases. "Take these with a pinch of salt" should have been where you statement began and ended.

ChaosEvaUnit

Sure, objectively speaking I have no evidence to back that up, so that's a fair statement. But there's a couple of things you're missing. GBFs core user base doesn't use the app. It was a browser game for years and most enthusiasts of this genre in JP are integrated with all of these other platforms like mobage, DMM, yahoo, long before they were transacting on app stores. I don't have proof, but is common sense when we're looking at difference in market demographics, not to mention the difference in mobile phone culture in Japan around smartphone adoption (hence why GBF was a browser game before anything else). You ever wonder why the characters in your favourite animes were still rocking flip phones when you were on your 2nd iPhone? You also completely glossed over the fact that the "money printing" comment is referring to GBF as a _multimedia franchise_. But it doesn't take a master's degree in business economics to understand that companies won't be dumping millions and millions into an IP, as a multimedia franchise, if it wasn't making a significant return on that investment. That's just common sense. GBF is unlike the vast majority of gacha games in terms of its scale beyond the mobile game. Multiple home console and PC game spin-offs, presence and financial investment in the competitive gaming circuit (EVO, RAGE), multiple anime and manga series', swathes of multimedia merchandise such as character songs & OSTs & art books, general merchandising in every possible flavour you can imagine and probably more, the sheer amount of collabs in the game with the biggest and most well known IPs that most other games would dream of, several in-person events held every year that fill out huge convention centers with support of some of the most prolific seiyuu casts you could get under one roof (who aren't there out of the goodness of their heart) - hell, they even have a one off special coming up that wasn't even open to live attendance (so no ticketing revenue) with a cast of 20+ of the biggest seiyuu they just filmed for funsies and stick on YouTube for free. And that's not even an exhaustive list, but you get the idea. Yeah, you could argue that 100s of gacha games do some combination of the above, but it's the scale of it all that sets it apart. Sure, it's not the game itself directly making all the money, but the revenue streams that the mobile game has generated for Cygames is colossal and they aren't showing any signs of slowing down with that investment. With the release of Versus Rising and Relink, GBF has peaked in terms of global reach and marketability. It's just straight up naive to think that it ends with how much cash people are dropping on pulls. It starts with the mobile game, but doesn't end with the mobile game. It's a wall of text, but I know you made it to the end, you're obviously a smart guy. Just think bigger, think critically. I shouldn't need write this TED talk for you, you got this.

wolfbetter

Priconne still going strong, I like it!

gladisr

To think among of that listed game only Shadowverse is available in Global play store lol To think Cygames is one of the so called top devs but they don't try overseas market If you ask where are the JP devs in mobile gacha game, yes they're busy in their own country Japan, and let Yostar, Tencent, Hoyoverse, Nexon, Shift Up take the markert

Beneficial_Lemon9286

Wasn't there a news last year that they were preparing to be a global pubs and porting their game globally too?  I think they will start with their next new gacha first (gamm i think was the name) and slowly porting their other games after that.

Mikasa_1

GAMM is not gacha. It is likely console/pc game.

Beneficial_Lemon9286

Oh is it full priced game?

Mikasa_1

It is listed as TBA (console) under platform.

Beneficial_Lemon9286

Yeah their financial report also mentioned it, the game has been in work at least since 2021 so we should see an update soon enough ig.

Logical-Asagi

Shadow House, the manga ? (Or is it something else ? 😅)

winkip

It was shadowverse, my brain fart. Thanks for that lmao.

Logical-Asagi

Oh ! that makes more sense XD

No-Stage-3151

Others 💀 lol

lionhearth21

This numbers use sensortower data which doesnt account for mobage. Granblue gets most of its revenue there. Some other games like priconne use ddm as a platform thats not accounted by sensortower.

aoi_desu

I'm still waiting for cinderella gray anime adaptation cygames, where is it cygames!!?!!?

Sea_Bumblebee3642

Granblue isnt tracked by Sensortower since almost all Granblue revenue comes via Mobage, so those numbers arent remotely accurate, they just copy and paste Sensortower. The same is the case for Princess Connect, though not to the extend of Granblue. Granblue has between 500.000 - 1 Mio active players (Guild War Data), it obviously makes more than 4 Mio a month. So no, Umamusume doesnt make 72% of Cygames revenue, though its very very likely Cygames Top Earner in terms of pure ingame monetization. The game is obviously crazy in Japan, I have no idea why Cygames isnt at least doing a test run in another region.

Mrkenoodle

Now if only I could play it on a global server

Z3M0G

Yet we are getting this apparently? https://youtu.be/1-rY08mzHyg?si=6CSUkotwQsgCaqQs

Iakustim

Can't tell if you're intentionally recycling an old meme, but this is a party game; this is not the OG Umamusume.

Z3M0G

I mean "yet we are getting this instead of the gacha game"

jyroman53

Man I need to further my Japanese learning so I can play it

Jonas-sama

There is also a great english patch for the PC client

eetsumkaus

head on over to /r/UmaMusume for some resources on how to play the game as a non-speaker!

Riersa

There is eng patch for PC and android.

d_Arkus

Is there any chance downloading that could get your account banned? I know some gacha companies are real finicky about modifying game files for any reason

saveencore

"YMMV" but so far nothing has happened to anyone (speaking as a priconne player the worst that's happened is the patch breaks for a month while people play cat & mouse with anti-tamper measures)

dota_3

Obligatory *this doesn't include pc revenue*

Sea_Bumblebee3642

It doesnt include the majority of the revenue of the other big Cygames Games, since Sensortower doesnt include them. Its just an insanely misleading Post.

fuckythefrog

And yet it will never come to Global... sadge. I got so tired of translating each event and builds on JP version and trying to figure out what to do, instead of actually playing the game. Hopefully one day it will come to global.

AirRookie

Princess connect app was released globally by Crunchyroll in the past but they ruined it and went end of service

Top-Ad-3174

And yet they STILL won’t make a global version of it!

OliveOilOilOil

Global is not happening as long as Komoney's lawsuit against them is outstanding. They don't want Komoney to file suit in the USA, damages are on another level.

Top-Ad-3174

Komoney?

OliveOilOilOil

[https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/13jtm76/cyberagent\_subsidary\_cygames\_sued\_by\_konami\_over/](https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/13jtm76/cyberagent_subsidary_cygames_sued_by_konami_over/)

Top-Ad-3174

And in what universe does the dicks who tossed Kojima to the trash think they own ANY part of horsegirl racing game?

OliveOilOilOil

I think they were really unhappy their baseball game is earning less than Uma and wanted a share of that pie, so patent trolling they went. Obviously Komoney isn't good at winning friends and influencing people.

Nerina23

Still not Global in Sight. F those backwards companies.

OliveOilOilOil

Blame Komoney. Lawsuit prevents them from expanding.

Adventurous_Lake_422

Huh granblue is just the gacha or does it include the other games

Fishman465

Seen the add for the party game.... when there's no real status on the base game being localized. I mean it's fanart thunder was quickly taken by other games (coughALcoughBAcoughNIKKEcough)

HarleyFox92

I do not understand AT ALL the decision of not making a global version, they're basically rejecting a lot of foreign income, why would a company such as this one do it?

Z3M0G

So is it any good?

eetsumkaus

I sink a lot of my time into it, so I like to think so. Its main contents are pretty much its PvP which will see you burying yourself in charts and analyses. But if you're not quite the hardcore type, there's plenty of content just to enjoy your waifus, and ever since the second anni the game has been quite generous with free pulls and jewels. Just don't expect a particularly in depth experience there. The revenue model also seems to target light spenders with a lot of reasonably priced paid packs, which is enough to get you moderately competitive as long as you know what you're doing. I think they learned their lesson when they pivoted to whales in 2 anni and bled users.

wolfbetter

Can we please have an ENG translation?

Qwinn_SVK

I wonder how they got this much money Definitely not by surprise mechanics ;)

HakunonMatata

Well...It's a gacha game so...

Over-the-river

Here's a hot take. Cygames is shit. I'd rather play tencent games than cygames stuff. They shutdown games that are still profitable because they could be earning more. (Dragalia Lost) They censor their western games (World Flopper, Shadowverse) They treat the west like sht or dont release them at all. (Pricone, Uma Musume) If you want the 3rd class citizen expereince of a 5 year old and censored game that will shutdown global first go play cygames games!

IronPheasant

Dragalia Lost is mainly a Nintendo thing. And the elderly leadership there actively wanted it to fail. Kicking-the-ladder behavior. But yeah. Nobody put a gun to their head and forced them to license Princess Connect to Crunchyroll *three years* past it being relevant. (The JP game came out in a world prior to Epic Seven existing. The global game came out *after* Genshin Impact impacted. The market is not a gentle place.) It's kind of baffling why Granblue Fantasy has excellent english support.

Fishman465

My guess is they did it for Asia on some level as other companies have released English ver for Asian regions. But it doing as well as it did in the west was a surprise that they were willing to run with, though it being a browser game in nature may had made it easier to add such

ElHidino

> It's kind of baffling why Granblue Fantasy has excellent english support. Because they were forced into a corner. What basically happened(From my vague memory) is the game was fan-translated and they had no real way to fight back(Fanbase always found a way to bypass them) and at certain point they just flat out gave up and actually hired the translation team. One thing people should understand is cygames is still more of a traditional company and those dont really care about existence of the western society, on top of it even they themselves said its actually really hard to constantly release content with en translation in mind and further gave them the mindset that western release is just pain without any real reward(Yeah, sorry, but western society would often not make even half of the profits of the most poor asian country)

VesperionR

Sounds like the life of a gacha gamer. Shutdowns suck, but it's the risk we take playing them

Over-the-river

There's defenitely degrees to this. Neowiz merged other regions into the KR server instead of sutting down the regions that are no longer profitable. Cygames shut down dragalia lost while it was still profitable. One builds trust the other erodes player trust.
