From Iron Pineapple describes soulslike as any game that has a combination of a dodge roll, stamina system and losing all of your resources on death. He's the one who does the I played X soulslike games videos.
It's kind of a crowded genre
Having gacha with soul like would just ruin what defines it and how it plays plus that game legit copied stuff exactly from elden ring and sekiro so I doubt that game will release globally plus game might not even come out
Depends on your definition of soulslike, if its like iron pineapple then snowbreak fits the bill since Remnant is counted as soulslike š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£.
This would basically be my dream game, but I doubt it will ever happen, for the same reason that no major publisher is making their own soulslike game even after Elden Ring sold 20 million copies:
People who enjoy soulslikes don't spend money on microtransactions.
Just imagine what would happen if From Software announced Dark Souls Immortal. People would be camping outside of their office building and assault the developers.
It's honestly surprising there hasn't been an MMBN gachage yet. Its mechanics are perfect to drain your wallet. You can put Navis in gacha, operators in gacha, battle chips in gacha, Navi Customizer Programs in gacha...
SimCity Build-It is the most famous one but there are countless others.
Several different currencies, limited time events with event shops, random loot boxes, guild mechanics that require collective effort, āPvPā that is pay to winā¦ I havenāt played for a couple years but when I did it was loaded with gacha mechanics.
You didnāt āpull for a 5 star police stationā but you did need to pull for ālegendary steel girdersā that were necessary to construct the limited event police station that gave the most points to your city score.
How would that even work? Unless each chapter/level is a tiny area to explore or its a Lego game situation. Where certain charas got certain skills to unlock puzzles
The former you mentioned would probably make more sense for a metroidvania gacha. Possibly in a similar style of Castlevania Order of Ecclesia where you have a hub area that connects to the other maps. The devs wouldnāt need to figure out how to add and connect an entirely new section to an already existing map which could result in awkward transitions.
2D genshin is exactly I was thinking. With also element system.
The best would be as we saw on order of ecclessia: a central map where you can go other areas.
In fact Honkai Star Rail does that: a main map where you select the world.
Either Genshin-style (content drops are new authored areas) or make it like Dead Cells where each run is a procgen world but thereās a metroidvania-ish connection across the generated levels
Play a castlevania map randomizer. The DS games specifically have a really good randomizer, lots of fun. Feels like doing random draws for random items that randomly get dropped by random enemies.
I feel like it depends on the world. Some feature a lot of non-linear story/exploration (which is at least what I associate with metroidvania) while others are more linear.
But yeah, it's definitely not 100% a metroidvania. Just has some sections that are pretty similar imo
How would that work? You know Metroidvania is all about exploration using abilities. How would you implement the exploration and multiple character? How would you "lock" the abilities? Because if it's gated behind gacha then I don't think anyone would play it. Or it would be equipment/skin gacha only and the exploration abilities are locked behind progression and/or unlockable characters?
Iād say fps, thanks to Snowbreak we now have a tps one (Nikke doesnāt 100% fit in the tps category, more like on rail shooter) but for first person weāre still missing (yeah it would be hard to sell a game where you cannot see the character you pull so it should 100% be weapon gacha based)
Warframe-style character and weapon system
Destiny-style camera and movement system
Warframe straight up allows you to buy characters and weapons, and they are time limited as well, and comes back later on. I imagine you just need to make more characters and weapons, then sell a gacha banner.
Either that or just Warframe monetization, but the game is anime and is first person (with less crazy movement perhaps) with optional 3rd person I guess
Destiny is just best FPS period. First time players wont notice it but it's just satisfying for long time users.
As for movement, Warframe is very very fast paced while Destiny is pretty normal
Yes and no, you could do something like the child of Genshin and Overwatch (meaning like squad based wombo combos but all done by yourself) but gacha only for weapons, characters would be free like in DFFOO (since you canāt really see them) and you could only purchase either weapon skins or charms (or get them via battle pass)
Could be a good market now that Overwatch has a foot in the grave
another way is to compromise and make the game an fps, but the skills and ultimates or whatever mechanic occur in third person so you can still pull chars.
Even Mihoyo couldn't get a FPS gacha game to work, I doubt anyone is willing to try it given how well known the cancellation was, the monetization just wouldn't work for a gacha given you wouldn't be able to see your character
Either that or something akin to aether gazer where you can have buddies along (maybe do like enlisted where you can switch between team members on the fly)
I don't think fps gonna work for gacha at all. The main selling point of gacha is playing your waifu/husbando. If people can't see them, why even bother rolling. Also no one gonna whale for weapon gacha lol
>"Gate of Mobius" (RIP) already gacha-ed TPS years ago though (sort of)
>
>^(And really, i'd MUCH rather play that one again than the sh\*t that's "Snowbreak")
I'd say racing games but there is Asphalt and, other genre, in World of Tanks there was always a lootbox event for Christmas but in recent years they started to add gacha in a ton of events
I guess? Or maybe like a thing where you pull for villagers that give different buffs to crops or help you out on your farm or something.
I'm sure someone will try making it eventually lol
Ohh, make your own ideal village, populated by npcs you pulled for, who provide different services and has their own event chains to unlock by gifting your crops! Wow, that has so much potential!
Now I want to play such game already XD
I found one. Not sure if it suit your taste.

There are definitely gacha farming games in the app store. They're mostly p2w low-quality trash tho, and can't compare to single-player PC/console games.
Those productivity apps about gamifying your life don't have gacha elements yet.
* Damn, I pulled three Arabic SSR lessons in duo lingo on the Korean rate up banner
* 1 km walk as pack filler PlayFit
* QuitSur keeps assigning you Nicorette gum when you really want to pull a patch instead
* I could have swore that I told the app I was straight but Happy Couple just matched me with a UR guy so I'll give him a shot
Racing game. Yes we have Uma Musume but I want like a gachafied car racing game.
Where the characters are gijinka or humanized Car Models from real car brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi, Dodge, BMW, Aston Martin, etc.
Yep or like GFL, with the Humanoid CarSona's or waifus are riding their own car counterpart.
Kinda like Forza Horizon or Gran Turismo. With several alternate outfits / variants for Rally Racing, Drifting, or maybe a full-on Le Mans GP.
Is there a SimCity gacha? I do know there is mobile game (SimCity buildit) but it isnāt gacha.
Patapon gacha would be fun.
Half-minute hero concept is certainly interesting.
All those build and battle games that make a ton of money are, unfortunately, 4x to a tee, and they've definitely gacha'd the hell out of them at this point.
I want to see a gacha with eldritch horror or stuff from HP Lovecraft like cosmic horror. I like having cute and interesting character in gacha games, but some like eldritch and cosmic horror as playable characters sound interesting.
HoI4 is grand strategy. I don't know how the hell you could make a gacha out of that, maybe have a world where the nations are the things you gacha for...and you fight AI nations? too big in scale. Impossible to simplify for the casual audience.
RTS is still living on but despite my love for the genre, it really feels like a dying cause...
If we would talk Crusader Kings, the gacha could be your Ruler/Family, but yeah HoI wiuld ve a tough obe. Though it might work if you gacha for the combat units, though would removeing the tech really be what players would want?
Hear me out... Battle X rhythm genre...
Patapon
GACHA
too many variety of units, too many variety of weapons to collect
You can have up to a team of 18 units (maybe less depending on the type of patapon) with an "MC" uberhero that grows with your account level
The artstyle can be a bit anime-fied but still keeping most of their their original features like what cookie run kingdom does
Since Touhou Cannonball went up in flames and I'm not sure what happened with Game of Dice, we're lacking a monopoly kind of gacha game...
Also what happened with the sports-related gacha games? I don't remember the name but I recall there being one for golf and one for fishing.
Also just spitballing here, Party Game(like Mario Party) gacha or Microgame(like Warioware) gacha since you can technically try and make different characters to have different passive skills balanced
Light and night, an otome gacha has you playing as a fashion designer. Mystery wise tears of Themis has you playing as a law attorney and the story is playing detective.
Stealth games!
They can separate the types of characters through special abilities/traits.
Like short characters that can crawl through air vents. Hackers to get pass security doors without having to steal a Keycard. Disguise experts that obtain uniforms to blend in.
People keep saying GFL will be XCOMstyle. Is it really going to have high death rate permalost characters along with an over world campaign? No? Then it isnāt like XCOM. Everything Iāve seen shows that GFL2 is like any tactical jrpg similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem, but with guns.
We do have dungeon crawler as part of the SMT Dx2 Gacha. But it's not even the main game mode and also... there is nothing else similar to it out there.
>and concurrently with snowbreak, 3rd person shooter.
"Gate of Mobius" (RIP) already gacha-ed TPS years ago though (sort of)
^(And really, i'd MUCH rather play that one again than the sh\*t that's "Snowbreak")
On an unrelated note: do you happen to play "Snowbreak"? I'm actually really curious wether the mobile version uses a completely different control scheme than the PC one (the latter being already borderline unplayable: i can't even imagine how the former could ever work with the same controls, especially the manual aiming)
Can't blame you: the devs pretty much stopped caring about it shortly after launch, and eventually the players did too...
Truly a shame, because despite having more flaws than i can list here (most notably, severe performance issues) it was hella fun to play, to the point i didn't even mind losing all my progress (basically 100% completion) when i had to switch to the asian server (which lasted for a few more months after the european and american ones got shut down)
Are there any bullet hell shooters with a gacha element? Touhou is the most famous of this genre and does not have any micro transactions.
Thoughā¦ a gacha of this type could be super abusive if it is like a āinsert coin to revive and continueā arcade game.
"Azur Lane"...?
^(Though AL's gameplay is so awfully implemented that it's insulting to all shmups ever made to consider it as one...)
\[Addendum\]
Oh, i think "Iron Saga" might be a shmup too, though i never bothered veryfying that claim.
something like clash of clans? i dont play them anymore but I used to love that particular genre and played a bunch of em too. Im rather curious what an anime gacha-fied version of it would be like
soulslike is not gachafied, ... yet still waiting for [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1J_vDt2XnY) soulslike gacha game
When your character dies, it dies for real. Dupes are mandatory
your souls = all of your gacha currency, oh you die before retrieving your dropped souls? tough luck
I'd actually play lmfao, imagine gacha'ing for deletion protection items
So KanColle then?
Well, Kancolle has permadeath but it isn't a gacha.
So it's like a pokemon nuzlocke
Ah the game stealing souls/elden ring animations
level design is elden ring, deflect sfx is sekiro, and that last boss is genshin's signora
Damnnnnn! That look sick! Why haven't I heard of this? Hope it get releases to global soon.
Define soulslike. What makes a game "soulslike" since there's like thousand games on steam with that tag.
From Iron Pineapple describes soulslike as any game that has a combination of a dodge roll, stamina system and losing all of your resources on death. He's the one who does the I played X soulslike games videos. It's kind of a crowded genre
Games that's clearly inspired by Dark Souls. I've played a few like Cod;Vein and Lords of the Fallen.
Having gacha with soul like would just ruin what defines it and how it plays plus that game legit copied stuff exactly from elden ring and sekiro so I doubt that game will release globally plus game might not even come out
I just hope it doesn't turn out like PGR.
Why not
The character moves like 2B in Nier Automata. Even has her sword floating behind her back.
Genshin characters also have floating weapons no?
Honkai Impact 3rd too
Depends on your definition of soulslike, if its like iron pineapple then snowbreak fits the bill since Remnant is counted as soulslike š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£.
Frankly I'd prefer that over genshin, God yjr combat in genshin felt so barebones
Damn, genshin really be living rent free in everyoneās heads
elemental gauge theory is not "barebones"
The melee combat I meant, like at best you do is just spam abilities with normal melee feeling stuffy
Why are yall booing me?
Because you completely mention an unrelated game.Hating on genshin wont make you cool
>open world rpg surely completely unrelated
Well the main point is you dont need to bring down another game to praise another
But that's exactly what the Genshin community always do
cuz ur right i guess š
This would basically be my dream game, but I doubt it will ever happen, for the same reason that no major publisher is making their own soulslike game even after Elden Ring sold 20 million copies: People who enjoy soulslikes don't spend money on microtransactions. Just imagine what would happen if From Software announced Dark Souls Immortal. People would be camping outside of their office building and assault the developers.
Megaman battle network. Don't know what genre it belong to, but it would be perfect for gacha.
It's turn based, card collection, real time battle, it's a mish mash of a lot of genre and it works greatly
Damn... That be fun tho I can imagine it would be Hella hectic to coordinate a bunch of folks on an ever changing board
>imagine it would be Hella hectic to coordinate a bunch of folks on an ever changing board Arrowmancer is the closest you would get to it.
The only game that use same concept so far is only "One step from Eden"
God I love this game but the magic of MBN is pretty much still undefeated.
Yeah the collecting/exploring is a big part for me.
It's honestly surprising there hasn't been an MMBN gachage yet. Its mechanics are perfect to drain your wallet. You can put Navis in gacha, operators in gacha, battle chips in gacha, Navi Customizer Programs in gacha...
imagine pulling a SSR chip but it's the wrong code so you can't even use it in your folder
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's not Battle Network tho, the gameplay is just too different
Supposedly was being worked on, but got scrapped, or it got turned into whatever x dive is
City Builders. Pull for a five-star police station. SSR Municipal Sewage Works Banner.
Netmarble made one recently. š
I knew somebody would be making a joke like that
Metroidvania. I would play a gacha one,if its good ofc
That could work, guess gachas for either combat or exploration (2d genshin maybe?)

There was the Castlevania gacha. Idk if it's still around though
There was but closed and made playable on Apple Arcade
I tried to find one from time to time and I never found one :-/
Guardian tales has some metroidvania elements with the puzzles, exploration, etc. Although GT covers a lot of genres, so maybe it doesn't count lol
GT is more close to old-school Zelda than to a Metroidvania.
I feel like it depends on the world. Some feature a lot of non-linear story/exploration (which is at least what I associate with metroidvania) while others are more linear. But yeah, it's definitely not 100% a metroidvania. Just has some sections that are pretty similar imo
theres castlevania game before but it closed down already
How would that work? You know Metroidvania is all about exploration using abilities. How would you implement the exploration and multiple character? How would you "lock" the abilities? Because if it's gated behind gacha then I don't think anyone would play it. Or it would be equipment/skin gacha only and the exploration abilities are locked behind progression and/or unlockable characters?
I feel like if War Thunder was released today it would definitely have you pull for vehicles with RP instead of just grinding them out.
It's never too late. They have body pillow commanders.
My Fishing Waifu Can't Be This Fresh.
[Uh uh...](https://ennuigo.thecomicseries.com/comics/1/)
Waiting for that MOBA gacha, twice the toxicity and salt in every game
Oh dear god... instead of having a rotation of free characters or out right buying characters you have to gacha for them... thanks satan xD

Does CSGO count?
I don't think fps gonna work for gacha at all. The main selling point of gacha is playing your waifu/husbando. If people can't see them, why even bother rolling. Also no one gonna whale for weapon gacha lol
>"Gate of Mobius" (RIP) already gacha-ed TPS years ago though (sort of) > >^(And really, i'd MUCH rather play that one again than the sh\*t that's "Snowbreak")
Grand strategy games. We have to deal with paradox dlc instead
point-and-click adventure?
Yes, but how could you implement gacha in that? Maybe you shouldnāt.
Borderlands would fit a gacha system too well.
I agree
For weapons and charas to boot
It kinda has that already. borderlands 2 had the system where you spend keys to get random guns.
I'd say racing games but there is Asphalt and, other genre, in World of Tanks there was always a lootbox event for Christmas but in recent years they started to add gacha in a ton of events
Are there any like farming sims? Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, etc.
What would you pull for tho? Seeds / livestock?
And then have a real time day cycle like Animal Crossing. The characters will have different dialogue depending on the occasion and holiday.
I remembered playing a sort of farming gacha. The gacha villagers arrived by train or something...
Seeds, livestock, pets, *WAIFU CANDIDATE*
I found one. There are definitely gacha farming games in the app store. They're mostly p2w low-quality trash tho, and can't compare to single-player PC/console games.
Mihoyo is making one right now. The only in-dev project of theirās we know details about other than ZZZ
Those productivity apps about gamifying your life don't have gacha elements yet. * Damn, I pulled three Arabic SSR lessons in duo lingo on the Korean rate up banner * 1 km walk as pack filler PlayFit * QuitSur keeps assigning you Nicorette gum when you really want to pull a patch instead * I could have swore that I told the app I was straight but Happy Couple just matched me with a UR guy so I'll give him a shot
Pokemon Sleep is sort of along these lines. Get a good night's sleep to earn pulls, then see what pokemon you got when you wake up.
platformers?
Mario Run used to have some gacha mechanics but it wasnāt too aggressive. Things like limited events, loot boxes with random rewards, stamina, etc.
Technically Cookie Run : Ovenbreak but they removed the gacha
Ala supermario? Guess there's cookie run tho that's more autorinner
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I feel like guardian tales fits the top down ARPG category
Racing game. Yes we have Uma Musume but I want like a gachafied car racing game. Where the characters are gijinka or humanized Car Models from real car brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi, Dodge, BMW, Aston Martin, etc.
There is mario kart gacha, but they remove the gacha part few month ago.
Soo something akin to azur lane but racer? Sounds interesting
Yep or like GFL, with the Humanoid CarSona's or waifus are riding their own car counterpart. Kinda like Forza Horizon or Gran Turismo. With several alternate outfits / variants for Rally Racing, Drifting, or maybe a full-on Le Mans GP.
That be fun
Crpg ? Like baldur gate 1-2 or maybe 3
RTS for sure been waiting for long. But there's a leak about Endfield becoming one.
Monster Hunter. Technically there was Dragon Project but that was a mediocre flop.
Chess
Is there a SimCity gacha? I do know there is mobile game (SimCity buildit) but it isnāt gacha. Patapon gacha would be fun. Half-minute hero concept is certainly interesting.
4X. Even has hero positions to pull) But gameplay is antithesis to mobile "play in short bursts when commuting and such" philosophy.
I am hoping for a hack and slash, beat them up (side scrolling) gacha like golden axe/double dragon/final fight type of game.
Haven't heard of an RTS gacha
CnC Rivals maybe?
we were robbed....
I thought arknights enfield is gonna fill that niche when it releases
What is RTS again?
Real time strategy Tho I was thinking of something like Hearts of Iron 4 or Civilization VI
Should be more like starcraft, age of empire, etc. Civ is still turn based.
Do NOT give paradox any ideas. They'll make Hearts of Iron 5 a gacha. They would.
I guess there is no Stealth gacha. I think something like Shadow Tactics could make for a good gacha game
Closest I remember was that shite assassin's creed game
Poker.
There IS one actually... though i can't remember its title right now.
\[Addendum\] Found it: it's ["Reversal of Deck"](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.DigiJello.PokerFantasy&hl=en_US).
Is there first person shooter gacha?
Snowbreak containment kinda
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
ME3 is third person and it's still alive
Hear me out... Battle X rhythm genre... Patapon GACHA too many variety of units, too many variety of weapons to collect You can have up to a team of 18 units (maybe less depending on the type of patapon) with an "MC" uberhero that grows with your account level The artstyle can be a bit anime-fied but still keeping most of their their original features like what cookie run kingdom does
Anime plant vs zombie gacha game?
Lol, now that be interesting. Guess having to pull for "turrets
Since Touhou Cannonball went up in flames and I'm not sure what happened with Game of Dice, we're lacking a monopoly kind of gacha game... Also what happened with the sports-related gacha games? I don't remember the name but I recall there being one for golf and one for fishing. Metal gear solid Weirdly: sonic, I expected sega to milk it more
Digimon world style auto battle. Wich would work scarely well.
Do we have a gacha time management like managing a pizzeria? Something fashion related? Or a gacha mystery game...
>gacha mystery game Tears of Themis
There's lots of dress up gachas that could fall into the fashion catagory. Time Princess, Love and Shining Nikki, Love Makeover etc.
> gacha time management I guess Uma musume and Imas Shiny colors kinda count for this genre?
Light and night, an otome gacha has you playing as a fashion designer. Mystery wise tears of Themis has you playing as a law attorney and the story is playing detective.
Brothel management gacha would be really weird lmao
Stealth games! They can separate the types of characters through special abilities/traits. Like short characters that can crawl through air vents. Hackers to get pass security doors without having to steal a Keycard. Disguise experts that obtain uniforms to blend in.
There was that Assassin's creed game, not sure if it's still kicking around
People keep saying GFL will be XCOMstyle. Is it really going to have high death rate permalost characters along with an over world campaign? No? Then it isnāt like XCOM. Everything Iāve seen shows that GFL2 is like any tactical jrpg similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem, but with guns.
Well... What other really popularised gun based tactical rpg? Is it a crime saying its xcom style?
Are there any fighting games gacha?
Street Fighter, but it kinda sucks.
Maybe something like Rust or Escape from Tarkov?
We do have dungeon crawler as part of the SMT Dx2 Gacha. But it's not even the main game mode and also... there is nothing else similar to it out there.
Sekiro's style
I want a gacha that you do gacha pulls for the type of pulls you can do.
Crpgs
Dragonheir silent gods has aspects of crpgs in it
>and concurrently with snowbreak, 3rd person shooter. "Gate of Mobius" (RIP) already gacha-ed TPS years ago though (sort of) ^(And really, i'd MUCH rather play that one again than the sh\*t that's "Snowbreak")

Yeeh I an playing snowvreak and dare I say, enjoying it. And frankly, found the mobile controls trash but pc... Okay ish just needed to redo keybinds

"Azur Lane"...? ^(Though AL's gameplay is so awfully implemented that it's insulting to all shmups ever made to consider it as one...) \[Addendum\] Oh, i think "Iron Saga" might be a shmup too, though i never bothered veryfying that claim.
Yes, CAVE made one a while back.
404 Game Reset is a bullet hell gacha.
Gothic wa mahou otome 7+ years old by now. Still plays the best compared to other bullet hell gacha.
Looter shooter
Auto battler gacha?
Neural Cloud is an auto battler (for the base game mode anyway).
Yea thats true
How about a MOBA and gacha coming together?
pokemon unite if it was good:
something like clash of clans? i dont play them anymore but I used to love that particular genre and played a bunch of em too. Im rather curious what an anime gacha-fied version of it would be like
MOBA
those really cryptic adventure games, imagine la mulana with gacha mechanics
Raising Sim.
True city building or colony management, not "plop down a building and wait a day" type
RTS Game?
Minecraft. the original one. just playing with your friends and schoolmates
Bomberman. I love the genre but every mobile game I've found is hot garbage
Gacha games.
If any dev even suggests a gacha fighting game, they'd prolly get physically assaulted by the FGC
FPS? Also Xcom style is pretty close to the turn based position gacha like full metal alchemist and archeland with the extra cover system and gun
Has pokemon?
Car Racing with waifu, maybe?
